The Angel Hotel - JD Wetherspoon in Scarborough

We had a pleasant stay at the hotel. Room was clean and comfortable, nicely decorated. The pub/restaurant also nicely decorated with great views upstairs if you sit by the windows. The only negative was that there was a long wait for breakfast -45 minutes- possibly because they were understaffed that day.

Love the angel an lots of the staff are so kind and helpful to me and ruthie would love to convert part of the building including the basement into an apartment on baxrergate in whitby by St Catherine new charity shop xx 😀

Didn't stay in the Angel. However, when we go to Whitby we go their breakfast, they have a great choice, staff really friendly

Only ever use the pub but smart and very clean

A really good hotel in a great location for all the amenities and views from the 4th floor harbour and Abbey facing....would highly recommend.

We were looked after by the staff really well. We came boxing day with our two children and staff were brilliant with us . Nothing was too much trouble for them . You can't beat the location and lots of choices on their menu. The room was a good size , warm and comfortable. We didn't have any noise from the bar below, which was amazing. I will definitely stay here again

Very slow service and miserable staff!

Place was filthy hundreds of glasses on bar waiting to be washed. Won't be going in again

Been in for drinks sat at table where people have eaten . Plates are still here 30 mins later , two other tables full of empty glasses , no member of staff going round emptying tables for other customers . People coming in moving glasses to other table to sit , eventually a bunch of younger people come in and take empty to bar . It's busy , but should be someone concentrating on tables , very off putting to sit with other people's leftovers . It's a spoons , it's cheap beer but service and cleanliness is normal everywhere .

Sat in here now 30-12-24 9.10pm There must be at least 5 tables downstairs with food and drinks on them for at least over 20 minutes the bar staff aren't busy A pile of glasses on bar waiting to be cleaned All the tables are full but the bar area is quiet Its quite disappointing that they aren't bothered about clearing tables away and watching customers that want to sit at the tables take everything to the bar

Absolutely stunning location . We had a room overlooking the harbour. All the staff were lovely and so helpful. We will definitely be going back again. Couldn't fault it at all. Thankyou for a fabulous stay in Whitby.

We had food portion size was big enough to feed our 5 year old grandchild 8 chips or there abouts and steak was thin all be it cooked well shame really as was a good atmosphere

The management really need to look at their bar staff in this place. Went in for a drink and was greeted by a sarcastic middle aged barmaid, who was extremely rude. When I mentioned this to her colleague on the same bar he just turned round and said your not getting g a drink in here, I was flabbergasted. No customer service no nothing, treating g customers like this is appalling g.

Located on the seafront. 100metres from the bus and train stations. Ideal location to explore from.

We stayed 1 night with our 2 year son, the room had a king-sized bed and a pull out sofa bed, both were very comfortable. The room was clean and tidy and the check in was fast, staff were pleasant and helpful. We could have used a spare key, if one of us had to pop to the car the other was left in the dark due to the key being needed for electricity and also to be able to get back into the hotel, although we didn't ask at the desk so I wouldn't mark the service or facilities down for that. There is parking nearby, it cost us £11 for 24 hours. Overall the value for money was incredible and we would definitely stay again.

One of the best Wetherspoons hotels. Fabulous view of the quayside from the upstairs windows. Good curry, excellent bottle of malbec, a couple of G&Ts and a good night's sleep 😴 💤 👌

Very well managed Spoons, excellent speedy service, food is well cooked and presented. One of the best spoons I have used in the last few years. Steak came cooked medium rare as ordered on both visits.

Didn’t stay here, just called in for breakfast, placed the order via and app, long story short they forgot us after waiting for over an hour. Poor service.

Need to provide coffee mugs 5min before breakfast arrives. Had 2 coffees today bit short on measues.

Waited over an hour for food when did arrive was stone cold so returned and staff said would reheat for us which was not acceptable so asked for full refund which was processed and apologies made by staff for the long wait and arrival of cold food

The hotel you can not beat for the cost and location. It is are go to hotel for Whitby. The staff in the hotel and very friendly and helpful. Re the pub it's self, we found this time that the staff where extremely rude with zero manners and going by our experience this week I would say avoid the place but the hotel I can't fault for the money.

Standard spoons. Nice staff, but unfortunately, it seemed understaffed on Saturday night.

Just a typical spoons. With rooms. can't rate them as we didn't stay here. Just your average ping ding food and your average drinks. No complaints.

Absolute steal for food & drinks! 2 x double spirits with mixer for less than £10 is always a winner in my book. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Food choice is plenty with great portions for a very reasonable price. Overall a great stop for a few drinks and pub lunch with friends & family! It will always be a stop off for us when visiting Whitby :)

It was so busy. I understand it was goth weekend. It would be a better experience if you could get signal or WiFi to be able to use table order service. One of us was queuing at the bar while the other was trying to order online. It was a quiz as to who managed first. Still the best prices though

New wetherspoons to myself. Popped in for one quick drink about 17:00 on a Saturday and I've never seen so much bouncer action, people were getting chucked out left, right and centre. Still good value..

Busiest weekend of the tear .. whitby Goth and the management decided to have only one member of staff on the bar , poor guy was run ragged ,loads of other staff around but completing online table orders . 25 minutes to queue for a drink ,

Stayed 3 nights. Good location for railway station, very friendly staff. Clean room, well maintained, plainly decorated. Think Premier Inn, but including bottled water, biscuits and hot chocolate sachet on the hospitality tray. Didn’t eat in as I’m not that desperate for microwaved food.

Ideal for a cheap food and drinks. However the service took longer than expected and the drinks not so nice this time round.

Enjoyed our two nights away. Not the easiest room to find. Very comfortable super views

Recently stayed here for a couple of nights for the wife’s birthday,very comfortable and clean staff are very pleasant.Food and drink good prices,plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.Will definitely return for another stay

Great place to sit and enjoy a drink at reasonable prices while sat watching the harbour and people go by. Toilets were spotless and for women NOT up or down a thousand steps! Big bonus

Popped in for late lunch after a day trip, with daughter & granddaughter, food was delivered really quickly , granddaughter's sausages were a little over cooked , I had small fish & chips & mushy peas the peas weren't very hot , my daughter had a burger which was fine, We asked for some tomato ketchup which we never arrived & didn't get an explanation as to why. No one came to ask if everything was ok with our meals , which is probably just aswell. Probably wouldn't return again for food.

Had a lovely overnight stay with a friend...room was spotless..bed was very comfortable..but I'm afraid the breakfast we paid for was terrible....cold... overcooked hash browns.. fatty bacon...wish we'd sent it back and requested refund..as we seen other people do later on.....

Cheap as chips and decent food, beer is cheap but I had 2 different ales that weren't brilliant, nothing really to complain about.

Good hotel room's. Bar service was okay but beers were very similar and blonde. The only amber beer was on when we arrived on Monday and wasn't good and it was still on when we left on Thursday. Let's get round to the food, breakfast on Tuesday was served cold and a full English cold is not very good, we complained but it fell on deaf ears. Wednesday it was just aired and again nothing was done, Thursday went out for breakfast, we didn't want the hassle of trying to complain. Tuesday night was very busy and noisy caused by a gang of young girls who looked as though they were trying to drink the bar dry in record time, nine shots each in 5 minutes!!!!

What can I say it's a Wetherspoons pub. You know what you're going to get, value for money beer and cheap food. Which is fine occasionally.

Very poor experience over two evenings. Very busy pub that was simply understaffed. Had to wait an hour for food and even then had to ask for it a second time before it turned up. Surprised by how over-stretched the staff were given that most Wetherspoon pubs are well staffed.

Spot of dinner and a couple of pints

Angel Inn is a Wetherspoons pub so the beers are cheap and the food half decent. It also hires rooms for the night about £36 thinking of trying them out next time I come to Whitby. Decent place, Sadly for those that come by car? No parking as it's on the main part of Whitby dock, no room for one, but there is paid parking near by. Nice pub, next to the train station and bus depot. First pub you'll see, besides the George.

Arrived quite late to Whitby and many places were closed for food. Luckliy Food was served until 11pm. Lovely Staff, very helpful.

Typical wetherspoons, good selection of drinks at good prices. Opposite the harbour so good views if sitting outside.

Traditional Wetherspoons fare, real ales slightly pricier than other venues in the same chain but tasty and a good selection and variety, all the same!

We always enjoy the value in Wetherspoons and this is one of our favourites because it's in one of our favourite places to visit. Love snacking on some wings while we're having a few drinks.

Decent food needs a bit of tidying up better chairs

Ordered on the app. Breakfast: after drinks were delivered and told no bean (why not take it off the menu or go across the road to the co-op and buy some) offered us something in place of it which was fine , thank you. Breakfast came and it was Luke warm at best. The fact the butter was spread on the toast straight away, but never melted kinda underlines this point. Don't expect a hot breakfast! And no, it wasn't busy at the time of ordering, half empty at 11:00am

The Angel is a large Wetherspoon's hotel in a prime location by the harbour. The seating area is on two floors, the upstairs at the front, being particularly popular as it offers great views over the Harbour. There is always a good selection of real ales on hand pumps and all the usual Wetherspoons beers and cocktails. Food and drink are excellent it's always packed out. It is probably the best value pub in Whitby. Especially crowded in the summer and during the whitby goth festivals in april and October. You often have to queue to get in. Top tip if you are planning on staying in the hotel Goth festival weekend book a long time ahead.

Good pub. Clean, efficient staff, standard Wetherspoons pub food. Didn't stay here as a guest so can't comment on rooms.
