Chill at Planet Ice Cream in Scarborough

Really happy hear, sat in the sunshine on the sea front, having just enjoyed a vegan choc mint chip ice cream. Very happy, could have had salted caramel, raspberry, strawberry or vanilla. Just chilling and taking in the views. Coffee available too.

Came to this ice cream stall spent over £20 on ice creams for the family I would actually give a zero rating if it would allow me to.The customer service was awful It was raining very heavily so we took a bit of shelter under his canopy as we had a elderly relative in a wheelchair but he told us to move as we were bad for business

Borderline racist towards scottish people. Wouldn't accept scottish £20 no other way of paying. But they were horrible about it, like we were leapors, Had to leave milkshakes after kids had them in their hands. It's all pounds... all the same... why make someone feel like that because of where they are from. Claimed it was because fake scottiah money but scotland will still accept all forms of the pound.... Staff were disgusting they did not care. No apology... just nothing we can do. England is the only place that does this.... why can we accomodate you yet you can't accomade us ? I never bat an eyelid if i get english or irish pounds... all the same.

Purchased three milkshakes and they were all awful, i’m not sure whether they used out of date ingredients or what they done to it but they were all vile.

Delicious ice cream and a great price! Had a lemon top with a flake 😋 can’t fault it

Vegans and allergy suffers Please be aware if you choose vegan ice cream as this shop only uses 1 scoop across all ice creams. Causing cross contamination. When we mentioned this to staff they seems disinterested. Could be a great place but needs a more up to date approach to allergies and staff need training.

I get coffee here regularly. Ice cream is delicious. Tens of flavours to choose from. Staff are nice and efficient, even in the busy summer. I definitely recommend.

Awful customer service… stood and waited to be served whilst staff member was cleaning machine we politely waited. Then 2 of her ‘very drunken’ friends walked right behind the shop with the staff member and started full conversation… we tried to get staff attention but ignored us. Her friend finally let her know she had customers and pointed to us, the staff response was ‘I don’t care’ and turned her back to us and carried on ‘being busy’ - walked away in the end. Not great customer service at all! Would not recommend

Delicious ice cream, especially the raspberry flavour. I am not a fan of ice cream, but I liked it.

Read a few negative reviews but can't say I agree. The ice cream I had was delicious. I went for the strawberry cheesecake and blueberry flavours and they tasted exactly like that. Went for a double scoop waffle cone and really enjoyed it. Only negative side to this, and I know it's only because of its geographical location is the price. Little bit more expensive than i'm used to paying, but it's only because of its location. Otherwise, tasty ice cream and a crunchy cone!

I found a hair in my ice cream scope. In addition it is xpensive and tasteless.

Staff were reasonably polite and ice creams were delicious with a wide variety of flavous silghtly on the expensive side though

Two ‘hot’ chocolates (lukewarm) and two lemon slush drinks, imitation Calippo “brand” (fakers) they tasted chemically. Price for these four drinks - £9. We knew the hot choc was £2.50 a go, but no visible pricing on the slush (for obvious reasons).

Situated on Scarborough's foreshore. With a name like Planet Ice Cream you expect something special, sorry folks the place is drab the product is over priced & you would have a better chance getting a smile out of the beach donkeys than the staff.

Lovely little parlour loads of course we had two lovely afternoons here. Also serves usual tea coffee cakes sandwiches etc staff veryfrienxly

Great tasting ice cream and a good selection of flavours. I think they could maybe make a little more of it by offering a greater menu (and if there is one, we didn't see it)

I'm such a lover of rum and raison ice cream so having a day trip to Scarborough always involves a visit here. Great creamy ice cream with amazing tastes. Top class

Went today, waited 15 minutes to be served and the lady who served us wasn't very polite whether that's how she is in general with everyone or not I don't know but maybe she should think about a different career that doesn't involve dealing with the public. Ice cream was barely an actual full scoop and my youngest daughters ice cream had a hair embedded in the ice cream. There was no apology,she muttered something under her breath and gave us another ice cream which went into the bin, My daughter is autistic and once she sees a fault in something like food she refuses to eat it again. We had been here previously and the service and ice cream was good but then again it was 5.30 in the afternoon in late October so was quiet where todays visit was 12.30pm. I won't be going back. They were understaffed and the young girl was rushed off her feet doing her best to get through the que ( even though she couldn't find stock as they had ran out of syrups but no ( looked like managers) one knew they'd ran out) while the older lady who had just started working was rude with a bad attitude and no manners . A lot of people walked away without being served as it was taking to long to be served.

Had a mega cone ice cream for £4.95 it's huge with multi flavour ice-cream, well worth a look.

We had read about dole whip being served here so specifically sought it out, however when we got there the signs had been changed from last year and the staff knew nothing about dole whip. The ice cream we had was really nice but still disappointed. #missFlorida

After spending too long trying to choose what flavour (as they all looked so good), we were not disappointed with our choice of ice cream establishment! The ice cream was lovely and creamy and full of flavour. Can't wait to return to Scarborough to try out some of the other flavours.

Large selection of ice creams, the two flavours I had were creamy and light, tasting as their name suggested. Kids loved their choice as well. Price seemed reasonable as well.

Lovely shop selling fresh home made dairy ice cream in a wide variety of imaginative flavours. I plumped for the marmalade ice cream in a waffle cone (£2.10), which was delicious, smooth and creamy and filled with pieces of real orange flesh as well as peel. Topped with a completely superfluous (but delicious anyway) waffle biscuit. Just loved it!

This very attractive little shop had a wide range of ice creams including four choices of vegan fat-free ice cream. How could I resist? I had the mango flavour and it was perfect. Do go here for a treat next time you're in Scarborough. You'll be glad you did.

Myself and my girlfriend were visiting scarborough and wanted an ice cream before we left and found this place on the main drag and WOW! What a selection of ice cream, I don't know exactly how many they offer but it must be 30+

Very good ice cream for all the family. I am dairy/gluten/soya free and I could get lovely soft ice cream here. I was in between a sorbet and ice cream. It was lovely. And my kids could choose dairy ice cream from a very wide range of flavours. A huge success!!

Visited on a busy bank holiday Monday. Got served quickly as the queue was very short. The huge board of soft serve ice cream that they sell is full of lovely sounding flavours - just a shame they only pick two of them to actually sell at a time. I tried the vanilla soft serve as the one I originally wanted wasn't available that day and I have to say that it had a bizzare texture. It was full of ice crystals so wasn't a smooth creamy ice cream that I usually get with soft serve. Didn't get chance to see all the different ice cream flavours in the display cabinet as there was a rather plump family who were getting served stood in the way, but the few I did see sounded yummy. Will visit again to try the ice cream from the display cabinet but will definately avoid the soft serve ice cream and will visit Harbour Bar if I want one of those.

We enjoyed some lovely choices of ice creams from here and the Price are reasonable especially when you have a family to pay for

This is the only place you can get candy floss ice cream which tastes as it should, the other flavours are lovely too. Best ice cream place in Scarborough. The staff are friendly too.

Strolled by on a beautiful Monday evening (11th July) . There are many venues for ice cream along the seafront but we've been dissapointed with others . This stood out as far more colourful and tidier. The WI artful, friendly, helpful and smiley young lady that served us made us realise we had made the right choice. We all had something different and it was all divine. If you are reading this as the owner let me tell you the member of staff that served us ( long dark hair) is a real gem. Everything staff should be when working with Joe public.

This place has every flavoured Ice Cream you can think of. The shop front is clean and tidy and the young girl serving us today was polite and helpful when choosing what we wanted. We opted for a plain vanilla ice cream and sprinkles with a normal cone, and a rum and raisin and raspberry ripple double scoop, which had a chocolate rimmed cone edge, totally delicious and good price.

Delicious ice creams from this seafront vendor. Hubby had salted caramel, which was really tasty. Daughter number 1 (who lives in Scarborough and says this is her favourite ice cream seller) has jaffa cake, also delicious, and daughter number 2 had soft whip with flake and sprinkles. All very happy with their choices, lovely staff and not too expensive!

Absolutely gorgeous ice cream, generous portions & really friendly staff. I had one scoop of coconut and one of lemon crunch and both were really tasty.

Visited Chill on the evening of the 26th September. All I wanted was a simple 99' with chocolate bits. Which was what I got..and wished I hadn't... The "ice cream" wasn't actually very creamy at all. I don't know what mix they use in their soft serve machines but it was watery and gritty, not actual ice cream at all. Their soft serve machines are dated and dirty. The girl who made my ice cream made the mistake of not pulling off the excess mix which settles and melts in the soft serve machines when they are not used for a while. Meaning before I'd even put my change away the cone had gone soggy. There is a lot of variety at Chill and the staff are polite. This was my first and last visit to Chill, and I feel sorry for the staff for having to serve that "ice cream" to people. It's disgusting. I threw mike away, as did my partner. A change of mix and training staff (however nice they are) how to use the machines properly would improve things greatly. All fault is with management here who need to learn a thing or 2 about ice cream before trying to sell it- the Harbour Bar down the road for example. And no I didn't complain to staff because it isn't their fault the ice product they're being made to sell is horrible.

I always get excited when i see a sign for gluten and dairy free icecream! I had orange flavour and chocolate flavour swirled together. It was delicious! My husband had vanilla ice cream and a mint choc chip ice cream which he said was really good. The girl who served us was lovely and it was really reasonably priced.

didnt know was dairy free, even, better, lovely ice cream, its was salted caramel for me ( a bit like toffee) but delicious. so may flavours .willbe calling again to chill asap..yummy. The staff were really friendly.

Other reviewers are ecstatic about this place so had to try it when in Scarborough for the weekend. It is very nice ice cream and I've never had gingerbread flavour before! I also like the fact that its not massively sweet and sickly. Yep, it's very good but its not Ben & Jerrys. I would go again though to try some of the other flavours, like rhubarb & custard!

I tried the rhubarb crumble and the blackcurrant cheesecake ice-creams. Both were delicious and the assistant was very generous with the portion.

While I won't go as over the top as a previous reviewer, I have to agree, this is the best icecream I've tasted as well. I tried several flavours & they were all really good. Unlike the Italian award winning icecream place afew shops up which tasted like gritty supermarket quality at holiday prices! The girls at Chill were really friendly too.

What a way to celebrate Yorkshire winning the county championship! The ice cream is show stoppingly fantastic....the salted caramel the best I have tasted....even in Italy, the home of ice cream. Amazing!! Truly bowled over.

we had 4 different ice creams from here I had white chocolate and milkyway was beautiful, my partner had vanilla and cookie dough we paid £2-20 for two scoops.very nice

Called there with my kids. Bought the ice creams. Whilst paying,I watched the serving girl(the one wearing glasses) shamelessly put her hand into the ice creams displayed and pull out a big blue bottle which she squashed with her hand.She just looked at me as if to say,"So what?"

Visited Scarborough for the day on 12/07/14 for my birth day with my wife and son.

Went with my family to Scarborough on a really hot and sunny day. Ice cream was essential so we decided to go for Chill. I had a chocolate dipped waffle cone with two massive scoops of mint chocolate chip. Lasted for ages and tasted amazing. Will be my go-to ice cream place in Scarborough for as long as its around!

Lots of choice of flavours and a very good ice cream, reasonable price too at £1.80 for a single scoop cone, ideal way to finish the day after a fish and chip supper

I visited here a few months ago and instead of going to the ever popular Harbour Bar I decided for a change. Me and my niece both approached the counter and looked at all the wonderful flavours displayed on the board. My niece is extremely picky so she just went for a plain vanilla cone, but myself thought that the mango ice cream had an appealing sound to it.

Being from Scarborough Harbour Bar is the go-to place for ice cream, however with similar prices and lots more flavours/options I will definitely be returning to Chill as it's delicious! 5 flavours of ice cream in a tub for £2.30 is hard to beat.

Lots of flavours option to eat in and get big piles of it or get huge cones and take away always a queue for take out tho! but i loved it always visit here!

Really, there are 28 flavours to choose from and my favorite is the dark chocolate and ginger! Also for the calorie conscious and diabetics some soft serve flavours include pineapple chocolate vanilla orange lemon and mint!

There are a vast amount of flavours offered at Chill and the ones i have tasted are very delicious! Service is excellent and if you request a taster they often give you one. It's a bit pricey but sea front prices often are. Would recommend.

This place is what scarborough needs. People want to serve themselves, people want to put sweets on. This is really Pizza Hut ice cream but expanded with more favours. Decor is great and selection of flavours is good.
