Myself and my other half decided to pop out for a meal, we had been recommended The Angel by family members, we thought we'd try it for ourselves! I called 18:00 this evening asking for an 18:30 or 19:00 book in for table for two (short notice I know) but what a delight!!! We got a table booked for 18:30! The food, service and staff was amazing, me and my other half have not dined in a place like this for years I'd say! I've attached a few photos of our meals they we're phenomenal! Absolutely sublime... I'm not one to leave reviews but this place deserves it!!! Their hospitality was second to none! If you're looking for a nice place for a spot of lunch or Sunday lunch whatever tickles your pickle this is the place for you! Brilliant place to dine/drink! Cheers🍻

We hadn't booked as we were visiting the area and went for a long walk and ended up there. Although it was incredibly busy on a bank holiday weekend Sunday lunchtime ... the lovely barmaid Jazz checked with the chef and we literally got the last table for 2. The roast beef was spectacular; the cauliflower cheese quite the best I've tasted; the portions were excellent and we were too full for dessert! Although very busy, Andy was particularly friendly and we didn't realise until the end of our meal (where we praised the perfect al dente broccoli) that he was actually half of the couple in charge. A great place, enhanced by baby Phoebe who also enjoyed the lovely roast potatoes! Fully recommended.

We have gone to the Angel many times but this time was an eye opener. I had a hamburger that was so dense without any taste that even pouring mayonnaise on it didn’t help. The burger was not even juicy, which hamburgers are suppose to be! So, don’t order the hamburger.

A very welcoming pub in an idyllic village, opposite the green and church. The atmosphere was friendly and the staff couldn't do enough to carer for my gluten free allergy, with the chef even offered to cook me food not even on the menu. Food was tasty and home cooked. Would highly recommend.

Had Sunday lunch, choice was beef or pork for £16.95,the waiter suggested we have a bit of both which we all did.We had 2 very small slices of meat,2 rock hard roast potatoes, a very small dish of veg to share between 4.My mum choked on the roast potato, I was hitting her on the back and it took a good few minutes before we managed to dislodge the rock hard object. The bar staff stared over but offered no assistance and didn't come over after the scary incident to ask if everyone was ok.When I paid the bill we had been charged an extra £1 per person for having mixed meat, which had never been mentioned and we certainly hadn't had any more. Very poor and unfriendly staff and overpriced mediocre meal, would not return.

It says on booking.com that the room comes with a complimentary continental breakfast hamper including pastries, cereals and fruit however all we received was an apple, a banana and two boxes of rice crispies. Was an issue with payment through booking.com but was resolved promptly and the manager called me to advise on the issues. Turns out is was a problem with booking.com

We booked for a Friday night, but were surprised that it was not too busy. A very nice pub inside and out with a pleasant outlook over fields to the church beyond. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant, but the service was slow - after our drinks order we waited over 30 mins for someone to take our food order. The food was good quality but with some presentation issues - the fried fish was cooked off the skin; great. But it came with a side salad rather than the garden peas as discussed with the waitress. To be fair she offered to change the salad for peas, but that would have meant an even longer wait and a mismatch in eating times with my wife. So we carried on. Another disappointing aspect was the price - it was £14.95 which was well in excess of the price currently quoted on the web site viz.£11.95! A good range of desserts and the profiteroles were good. Also people are vaping in the bar - is this not still counted as smoking? Not pleasant! So a bit of a curates egg - good in parts!

Visiting the area, our family were looking for a nice ‘pub grub’ venue. We booked earlier in the day for an evening meal and were pleased as it was very busy (especially for a Monday evening). The 4 of us had starters and a main meal. Every meal was delicious, including prawns, cheese and a pate starter followed by fish and chips, chicken Kiev and both types of burgers. Pub staff also hit the right note of being attentive whilst leaving us to enjoy the meal. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Having had a couple of nice meals here previously, we booked for lunch. Food was very good, but the service was not. Despite the place being almost deserted (only one other table of 4 besides us and they already had their meals) we waited 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Then another long delay before our plates were cleared and the dessert menu brought. Then waited another 10 minutes for someone to take our dessert order, with no staff member around to ask, even at the bar. Eventually decided we had better things to do than face another protracted wait while the staff (glimpsed through the kitchen door) were apparently enjoying a chat in the kitchen. Abandoned the idea of dessert and left. When she was around our server was very pleasant and polite, but sadly she was not around enough.

The Angel is a lovely country pub set in the beautiful village of Kingsland, Herefordshire. It had been a long time since we last visited so as part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme we thought we would pop along and give it another go. Unfortunately upon arrival we were told that they did not have a table ready for us even though we had booked. We were offered a table outside but the weather was foul so we declined. Once finally seated, the food choice was limited but OK. We ordered ribs and chicken with chips and salad/veg. The ribs were absolutely divine, a massive portion that we couldn't finish so we took the rest home. The chicken however had been deep fried to within an inch of its life and was dry and inedible so we shared some of the ribs with the poor person who had ordered it, so that they had a meal. Chips were not the best either, a bit soggy and had lots of eyes in them. There were only two members of staff available, both were absolutely rushed off their feet so the table service was a bit hit and miss. Covid measures were not top priority and not enforced. Although there was a one way system, people were coming in and out of all doors and were not asked by the staff to comply. So in summary our visit had us conflicted, the ribs had been great but we were all disappointed with the overall experience (customer service and food) and were glad that we hadn't paid full price this time. The Angel has the potential to be a fantastic pub but this is the second time in a number of years that we have visited and been left underwhelmed. It's with a heavy heart that we say, it's not one that we will be rushing back to.

Food was good and we had a friendly service. Been in a few times since they reopened after lockdown eased and have been very satisfied up until now, as the track & trace sign in form is left on the bar for everyone to see. As a result I had a scam call telling me that I was at risk of infection because they had had 3 confirmed cases. Not a funny joke at all! Not happy that my details have been allowed to get into the hands of some very immature people. The sign in sheet should be kept in a secure place once people have signed in and not left in a place where any Tom, Dick and Joe can access it. Total breech of data protection.

Quiet lunch, ordered a burger and a cod and chips. Someone in the kitchen is a master in battering! This is probably the best batter I’ve ever had on a fish and chips, and believe me I’ve had hundreds of fish and chips over the years. The cod was perfect and the chips wonderfully crispy yet soft in the middle. I also have to say that the homemade onion rings are also the best I have ever come across. Forget small onion rings, these are about the size of a saucer! How does the chef do it? Although the food was out for a while, you will not wait too long either, but a slight wait is absolutely ok given the quality of the food. Good choice of ales. Very friendly and charismatic waiter behind the bar. All in all, very good value too, most mains are under a tenner. A very boozy lunch for less than £28, superb.

Chose another table, sat down and looked around us, the whole place looked neglected with food, serviettes etc under and around tables and tables themselves in need of a good wipe, a lt of dust, no fire in woodburner, the whole place looked neglected and as though it had`nt been prepared for customers that day at all, had to wait a good while for lunch menu as a shortage of them, only one person serving drinks, food, after taking coats off decided a while later they needed to go back on as it was so chilly. Food was ok but the setting very much was not, very dissapointing.

A friend and I went here for lunch, whilst the food was ok and reasonably priced, it wasnt anything to shout about. What did let them down massively is we asked if we could take turn dog in which we were told was fine. We asked at the bar for some water for the dog or even a plastic tub and we had our own water in the car. The bar lady said it was no problem at all. 10mintues later we were still waiting. When the same woman came to take our lunch order we politely asked again for the water for the dog. Her reply was 'oh yes sorry I've forgotten the water'.. we then saw her a few minutes later wiping a table down, grabbing her bag, walk out the pub, get into a car and drive off! It was bank holiday weekend. It was 27 degrees+. We were not impressed. When our food was brought out, we asked the girl for some water and she was back with a clean tub full of water in the space of a couple of minutes. So thank you to her. Just a shame the other member of staff let the side down!

I live very near an nationals award winning fish and chip shop, so am used to good quality meals, and am usually disappointed when I eat fish and chips elsewhere, to the point I hardly bother. Thought I’d give it a go here and I’m glad I did! The fish was cooked to perfection, the cod fillet was large, fresh and delicious, and the batter was light, crispy (so important), and not at all greasy. Probably the best fried fish I’ve had! My husband had fillet steak, and he said it was really well cooked, and was a decent size. Will come again!

We have visited the Angel several times over recent months but have noticed how the degree of service and quality of meals has become rather changeable and inconsistent.

Visited for Monday lunch which offers £5 and £10 specials on the Mains. Three of us had battered fish and chips and my husband ordered the rump steak. The chunky fish was in a crisp, light batter and was perfectly cooked. The home made tartare sauce was not to my personal liking as I think it had some garlic in it. Otherwise the food was delicious, with home made chips and frozen peas. My husband ordered the rump steak cooked medium rare. His first few mouthfuls from the edge were very good, but when he cut into the thick middle part it was virtually blue. Very rare. He asked if it could be cooked a little more but was told the chef was cooking him a fresh one! This somewhat embarrassed him, as he was not complaining. The second steak was perfectly cooked for his taste and he said it was by far the best cooked and tastiest steak he had had for some time - including those at four times the price. Desserts are nearly as much as the main courses at £4.95 but there was a good choice and we were all very pleased with what we ordered, even surprised to learn that there was a choice of cream, custard or ice cream with all desserts. My pear charlotte was particularly memorable. All of the young staff were friendly, efficient and helpful and from start to finish we were made to feel welcome and valued customers. Our total bill, including four drinks came to under £50. Sadly, we live in Gloucestershire, but next time we visit our friends in Leominster we will return to The Angel, even ensuring that we visit on a Monday or Wednesday when the offer is on both lunchtimes and evening.

Needed a good restaurant to take my brother and his wife out to dinner, the Angel was great. Busy night, young staff a little out of there comfort zone but pleasent and attentive, supported by an aware manager/owner!,

Hope the landlady reads this, I’m a local and want to praise this pub. Last visited in August 2016 and left a review then of how atrocious it was with a frosty short blonde “too cool for the bar” barmaid (sorry not sure of the name), having visited four years previously which was again a disaster of a ‘baked Camembert’! Note how long it takes for someone to get over a bad meal and take a chance again! The Angel delivered an impressive surprise. We regularly eat out and have an unwritten list of the pubs we will visit, spending about £1k a year but have now nearly run out of suitable pubs on our circuit due to problems with the food. One pub in Aymestry is so snobby it hasn’t changed its menu in five years, it only caters for B&B; guests not locals. Another one in Wigmore which used to specialise in Michelin star quality food has hit a brick wall. The other one in Kingsland will cube everything in your salad to tiny pieces. So, without further ado, time to share our experience of the excellent food.

We were staying on the Malvern View Country and Leisure Park for a weekend stay which we could not fault. However, we dined at The Old Barnhouse on the Saturday evening and unfortunately the food was terrible. We waited for nearly an hour and when the food arrived it was half cold. My mother and father had scampi and chips, no peas and they were out of tartare sauce! My sister and I had the New Yorker chicken which consisted of a huge portion of coleslaw that wasn’t very nice and the chicken was small and if poor quality. My daughter had a kids pizza, chips and beans which was just about acceptable. The five meals and a round of drinks came to over £80 which was appalling for the quality of the food. Avoid The Old Barnhouse for food! Pleasant enough for a drink.

Rude, extremely disappointing, shocking and disrespectful staff! We arrived after making a booking the day before. I booked 2 Adults, 1 child aged 2. The booking itself was pleasant. We got slightly lost, rang in and again very pleasant. Arrived 7 minutes late and walked into a very ‘local’ pub feel. All eyes on us. We were told by the bar person that they were glad we found them. A woman appeared and looked at my Grandson and commented ‘we don’t have highchairs’ I commented that I’d booked ahead with a child on the booking? She said she would go down in the cellar and dust something suitable to bring up then asked me if I had a chair in my car???!!!! We approached the bar and I said I was confused as I’d booked a child ahead of coming. I was ignored, I said once again and the younger woman behind the bar looked at me and in a slightly raised voice utttered ‘well, yes she’s gone to get you something hasn’t she!!’ Based on this experience I told my Friend we were leaving as being treated like this was way beyond acceptable. I wasn’t happy and I let it be known! My Friend and I were left shocked and felt we had been treated appallingly by 2 extremely rude women. Whilst we were putting my Grandson in the car the older women came out and further patronised us with her offering of a dusted off cellar chair and we told her that her colleague was vile and it had gone beyond the chair. She walked off. Having read through the reviews I can see hands have changed and so this may be why I didn’t receive the reputation I had heard of. I have the feeling they felt they were above us! I’m not easily impressed so their Morgan cars and gold large Baroque chairs only further deepens my suspicions that they think they’re better 🤣🤣

Beautiful scenic spot, absolutely stunning. Dog friendly. Food was amazing and atmosphere good too. Boat was running as water was too high but didn’t matter to us!
