A good old Essex pub, with TV sports, darts and pool, if you get cold, there's a wood burning fire🔥

Went there for new year to watch a family friend DJ, I was met by a Peter stringfellow wanna be who claimed he was the landlord and refused us entry claiming it was full to capacity. This male was not polite and virtually pushed me of the step by puffing up his chest and putting his hand up. I get it if it was full to capacity, however we were sat down the road and he let others in, so obviously he was showing off to other outside by bullying four females. Would never return.

Visited on a Sunday during football, this is how a pub should be!!!

Very good atmosphere. It was great hearing live music again. Drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were fun and attentive. Overall great.

The a anchor is the best pub in the whole of Chelmsford, very popular, friendly, nice customers and reasonable--I recommend that you give them a go. Bar staff are very welcoming.

Very much an old man pub, lovely inside.

Friendly pub used mainly by regulars who tend to be older.

Went in and sat down at a table with four friends they then changed the music and turned it up really loud to make us uncomfortable, so we left because we were clearly unwanted, on the way out we could hear us being slated because they ‘didn’t want four young people in their pub’, thank god we didn’t waste our money

Traditional unpretentious boozer with lovely landlady and happy smiley staff. Quite large and has a few benches out the back in the none too scenic car park and some tables out front for people watching. Pool table, shows the footy and has a pretty good jukebox fed by the mainly convivial locals who have a good slightly alternative taste in music.
