Went to get food, walked in asked if they do food to simply be told ‘No’ though it says bar & restaurant on the outside. Don’t know if this is all the time or not but they didn’t elaborate to say anything like ‘not just tonight’ or ‘we’re now out of season’ so assume they are just now solely a pub.

My family consists of 2 adults, 2 teenage children & my mother in law & the dog, we called into the Anchor Inn to have a meal as we were staying in the caravan site close by. We were greeted by a very friendly group of customers & staff. We asked if they had a menu ? Unfortunately they apologised most sincerely that on this night they weren’t doing any food. however, they offered a solution?, as there was an Indian takeaway next door the barmaid who was extremely helpful went the extra mile. She explained that if we wanted we could eat our takeaway meal here in the pub. We were flabbergasted never had we such generous service. Not only did we have a meal there, cutlery & crockery was provided for us & our rubbish was cleared away afterwards. The atmosphere in the pub & the friendly staff I can only say is brilliant. The only sad thing is that we live 200 miles away, if ever I am down this way again, I shall certainly be revisiting.

stopped here for lunch. Pub said it was under new management. Walked in and stood at the bar waiting to be served. Finally one of the locals went to find someone to come and serve. This seemed to cause some confusion as the lady who came in at the locals request said she wasn't serving. A man then appeared from behind the bar and apologised saying he was bottling up. We asked if they did sandwiches and were told no but they could do us some rolls but it would take about half an hour. The local who had tried to help us had a roll which did look good but we didn't want to wait half an hour. We were advised by the member of the bar staff to try the pub across the road!

The Anchor Inn, Georgina’s Restaurant gets a 5* rating from my son and I. We called in 22/11/18 and had a meal from the specials board, braised beef and dumplings with mustard mash and scrumpy pork in pastry pillows, the taste was incredible, everything is homemade and vegetables were also served in a separate dish, portions are very generous and for £8.95 each extremely good value. Very friendly staff, lovey chef, roaring fire, music and we watched the racing on the tv as well. Go there you will not be disappointed 👏👍🙌🍽🍷😋

Our Saturday night party of 7 included 3 vegetarians and one guy in a wheelchair, plus a labrador. From the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble, and the food was amazing! We veggies had 5, yes 5 menu choices - and they weren't just the standard vegetable lasagne, curry and burger. I had vegetable tempura, which was just as it should be, light and crisp. I believe my companions were equally satisfied with their menu choices. Most of us don't normally bother with dessert, but on this occasion we all had one. I think this was because we'd enjoyed our mains so much that we expected the desserts to be special - and they were (far more interesting than the online menu suggests).. All this and reasonable prices too. We will be back, I'm sure.

We were staying in the area and fancied a Sunday lunch. So glad we called in. The roast on offer was pork or beef. We both chose the beef, which was served with a yorkshire pud, boiled and roast potatoes, carrots and cabbage. The beef was very tender and tasty as was the rest of the food, you got a good plateful so we couldn't have managed a sweet. The service was very speedy. Price was £9.50 each. It wasn't too busy and it was 2 o'clock. There was a Hungry Horse over the road so whether a lot of people went there I don't know but we have always found their food sub standard so no contest really! Would definitely return if in the area again. There is a holiday park right next door so I imagine it would get very busy in high season.

The service in this pub is second to none. Staying in the holiday park next door to The Anchor Inn, travelling back from a day out, I called ahead to enquire if they served gluten free food. The couple only took over running the pub a few months ago and are already establishing themselves as a brilliant place for Sunday Lunch, so I would advise booking! Very generous portions too and most importantly HOT!!! If I could give them 6 stars for value for money I would! I spoke with the very friendly Landlady and she told me they are busier every week. One sunday whilst driving in towards Weston Super Mare we passed a slightly non-descript pub, and noticed a sign outside, carvery £7.50. After asking my partner if she was hungry I made a quick U-turn in the road and headed back to the pub. On entering the bar, there were a few locals enjoying a drink in what seemed a cheery atmosphere, and I ordered 2 sunday carverys, on walking through to the restaurant area I was shocked to see nobody in there, my heart filled with dread, was it that bad that no one ate there. However the bright and cheerful chef greeted us and carved us slices of three different meats and invited us to help ourselves to vegetables. In a nutshell what a beautiful meal, meats were all cooked to perfection along with the vegetables. My only question is why on earth is this little pub not getting a lot more customers, when they are serving such great food.

Our first impressions as we walked into the restaurant at the Anchor Inn was of the lovely smell of Sunday lunch in the air, fresh veg and the sight of a large joint of beef made us even more hungry! We were served at the bar, given our ticket and had sat down to eat our meal in record time, but not rushed, just without any unnecessary delays.Unfortunately there was only the beef left when we got there, as it was getting a bit late and the Chef is the most generous server of meat I have ever met! Hence the need for a doggie bag! The choice of vegetables was ok, and were as I thought, all fresh apart from the peas. A pot full of delicious gravy to dip into, to cover the mountain was all that was needed to make it a most delicious carvery lunch. We were asked if everything was okay, which of course it was! A pudding was out of the question so we never got to find out how good they were.I would definitely recommend this pub for the carvery, and look forward to trying the regular menu at some point on our next holiday.

I have been using the Anchor every other Sunday for a carvery for about 2 years. The food has always been really good with average service.I went in 2 weeks ago & the food was not ready at 12:00 when the carvery is due to start & it finally arrived at 12:45 with other parts of the meal arriving as I was eating. The bar staff advised me they would let me know when the food was ready but that confirmation never arrived. I did not complain & just put it down as a bad week.I visited again yesterday. No food was out when I arrived at 12:00 and again the bar staff said they would let me know when it was ready again this never came. When the food arrived at 12:35 it was obvious the man carving the meat had no idea how to do it. He was carving off huge chunks of meat and both joints were reduced to nothing in a very short period. The beef did not look cooked properly and people who were served in front of me declined to take what was cut & asked for more meat to be cut from another part of the joint. All the Yorkshire Puddings were put out instead of giving 1 to each customer so the first family to be served took all 12 that were on offer. The carrots were not fully cooked & there were hard stalks in the Broccoli. I had 2 small pieces of Pork as I did not want to eat the beef that was left, the Pork I had was a lot of fat. When I got my meat there were no Roast Potatoes, Yorkshire Puddings or Stuffing Balls either left or yet to be put out.The staff service was non existent. When I left another family had all their meat put under the carvery to keep warm while they waited for the rest of the carvery to arrive, this was circa 13:00.I have never complain about service in a Pub or Restaurant before but I did on this occasion as it was so bad & I will not be eating there again.I am really sad to see the demise in quality at this pub.
