The Amonbagh in Preston

We were looking to find a good Indian takeaway due to our local one closing . We thought this would be the one we were disappointed…….. They forgot part of our order for delivery so we rang to let them know they said they would send it out so I asked to add to the order but to my frustration they said there would be an additional delivery charge even though they were coming back out to us with part of the forgotten order…… Wow so much for customer service obviously they don’t value their customers and don’t wish to keep them either ! I said don’t bother to add to the order . We ate our meal with half of it being cold due to waiting for the missing item . The food was bland the sauce was tasteless and the potion of sauce was tiny more veg then sauce . I understand that the price of food and cooking oil has increased but the quality of food should be maintained . We will not be ordering from here again . They have lost the custom of someone who would have ordered each week . So again we search for a suitable curry takeaway that offers good food and delivers good customer service the search continues ……..

This has become my go to Indian takeaway and now I wouldn't order anywhere else. I've tried multiple different dishes from here and the food is always fantastic, I've never had a bad experience with them. Usually when you order lamb in a curry at most Indian places they give you a smaller portion as the meat is more expensive. However at Amonbagh if you order a lamb curry you get massive chunks of lamb and a lot of them and they're always incredibly tender. Definitely recommend.

Presentation wise looks really good but it lacks flavour and taste, we tried Barton Bangla and it was much better also cheaper.

Great service and food exceptional and piping hot. Delivered to grimsargh and on time. Will definitely be back

We recently ordered the Amonbagh munch box, as we thought we would try someting different than the usual superb curries. The Munch Box did not disappoint, a large pizza box full of food and plenty of meat, with onions, peppers, spring rolls. chips, and somosas too, yummy. It was far too much to eat in one go, so we saved a good protion for a meal the following day. Overall another great meal, well done Amonbagh :)

2nd time in a week and just as good,, chicken chaat is the best i have ever had, popadoms an and dips are great as well as the naan bread

First time we have ordered a takeaway at Amonbagh. We thought the food was delicious, spicy and generous amounts. Our order was taken in store by a friendly man who delivered to our car as promised in 15 minutes.

Very blaise attitude towards customer. Ordered food at 8.30 and arrived at 10.30, took 2 hrs. When food eventually arrived it was tasteless with no flavour. Never been so disappointed in a takeaway that was very expensive. Raised complaints with takeaway and can't say they made much effort.

I’ve had to log in to review! This food is amazing. They delivered some distance and the food was still fresh and hot. Plenty of meat. Quality ingredients. I was recommended to order from here and I know why now!!!

The foods ok but the service is always appalling. Tonight’s delivery is an hour late. Delivery or pick up it doesn’t matter I’ve never had an order that wasn’t at least 20 minutes later than I was told

We hadn't had for a while as we had cut back on our takeaways. Had forgotten how amazing this place was! They even threw in an extra Curry sauce for us to try, "lucci". It was so delicious. We will have to get it next time Definitely. My husband said it was the best curry ever. The chicken was so tender and the sauces full of flavour. Thank you so much for a lovely meal. Delivery was prompt too.

If i could give a negative review io would give this minus 1000. Just had an order from this establishment (my first and last) and it was the worst curry i have ever had the misfortune to consume. Half a tonne of onions and cardboard reheated micro nuked rubberized chips. the only thing full is the bin. My cat is now afraid (jk) The poppodoms were good though

Asked for lamb and got chicken. Also wrong Naan bread. Asked for a spicy dish and got a very sweet one. Nothing wrong with the food but I wish they could get the order right 🤷‍♂️

This is the 6th meal I've had from them and it has been delicious every time, defo recommend, this is the place to oder food from

These people could not do enough to help, very friendly and polite. The takeaway is not in our local area but most definitely will use again. The food was exellent huge portion. Many Thanks see you soon.

Food is alright, nothing spectacular, just average. However, with strong competition in the area, I don't see why I would return there when better Indian restaurants are around the corner.

Had this at the weekend and can't fault it. Ordered for collection, the restaurant is following social distancing guidelines which was reassuring and the food was brilliant. Got the garlic massala which was fantastic and all the sides were on point, with possibly the best chicken pakora I've had and the chicken spring rolls were very nice. The garlic naan could have been a bit more garlicy but overall very enjoyable and the guy that works there is a top man.

Great food. First delivery order came for the family and everything was perfect. So we ordered for my birthday. It came and was missing three items. My bill was £46. It would be the main items, of course. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. Called them to explain, said they would sort us out and make it up to us. So we tried them again. This time we collected, and explained what happened previously, said they would sort and still messed up. Not acceptable. Amanbagh, you’ve lost a customer. You’re food is great, but you have absolutely no customer service. Sorry, someone else does a munchie box, think I’ll give them a try!! One day you might be fighting for business. I hope you remember this review and the many other that were reaching out to you. There are better takeaways out there. These people don’t care about your experience, they concentrate on getting volume out their door and are prepared to accept a small failure rate because they know there are far more people to replace those disappointed, but every time you order you increase your chance of becoming, one of these people, THEN YOU WILL KNOW WHAT I MEAN!

I order from Amonbagh on a regular basis twice a week, it is the cleanest and friendliest takeaway restaurant and has got 5 STAR rating for the past 9 years! The food quality is outstanding and the staff work very hard to maintain there reputation for delivering excellent food. They alway acquire to my family members individual taste either making each dish as mild or hot as they like. I will continue to order from here as i cant get enough of there delicious gourmet curries! Yum yum!

At 17:41 on 10th May 2020, I rang to order 2 curries and sides. We were told the wait would be 1 hour and 30 mins, which we accepted. At 19:30, I called back to ask where our food was. We were told it would be cooked in 15 minutes and then sent out for delivery. When I was shocked to hear it wasn’t even cooked, she said she’d put it to the front of the queue, suggesting they’d forgotten. Again, we accepted because we were hungry. At 20:02 the food arrived. I understand waiting times will be longer than usual, but nearly 2.5 hours is extreme. The sides were disappointingly cold. Our garlic naan was missing completely from the order. My husband called back to inform them of this and they offered us a curry free of charge, but we didn’t want another once we’d tasted it. After we began to eat the actual curry, we realised they weren’t spicy as requested, so we called back again. We asked for a refund due to the wait, the missing item and the cold sides, and the manager came on the phone shouting, demanding we return our food to get a refund. We reminded him of the fact we are in the middle of a global disease pandemic, but he insisted we scrape our plates into the bag and return this bag to a driver. He said we only wanted to leave a bad review and that he would ‘bombard us’ if we did this - threatening. We just insisted we still wanted a refund due to poor service and food quality (which is our civil right) and he then said he would come with the driver to sort this out. His manner was so threatening and patronising, I handed the phone to my husband. The owner hung up on him. When my husband called back, he was put on to the driver, but the manager was shouting aggressively in the background. The outcome: our partially eaten food, that had been in our house, on our plates, touched with our forks, went back in the driver’s car, the car in which other people’s food is transported in, and made its way back to the take away, where other food is prepared. How would getting our half eaten food back, solve the problem? How could he see what was cold and what wasn’t as they didn’t collect for an hour and 45 mins? I am utterly disgusted with the experience we had, but more so at the complete disregard for public safety.The manager then unbelievably called back at 21:42 to say we had eaten all the food and called us liars! Not true (yes we ate some - how else can you taste it?!) Our issue was we waited all that time, got cold sides, the spicy curries requested weren’t spicy and NO garlic naan at all. We recorded a driver collecting the bin bag on video and he had no mask or gloves when handling the potentially contaminated food from our domestic property. We have recorded the phone calls should we need them as he would not let us speak and would not allow any explanation as to why some food had been eaten. Instead he called us liars, said he’s taken photos of the empty take away packets (that could have been anyone’s) and hung up. We were advocates of this place and ordered from there often. Never, ever again.

My wife and I visited on the 2nd of May we ordered three meals, a chicken passana, king prawn shaslick & a lamb Madras, 3 dishes mild, medium and spicy. We also ordered some starters and the usual dips and poppadoms. As per usual the meal was excellent, very tasty food, well prepared and it was nice and warm when we opened it at home. I have ordered and eaten from here several times over the years and the food is always very tasty. Yes, they are busy, and behind counter can appear chaotic, but they are passionate about the food and giving a tasty, delicious meal. Also, it was good to note social distancing was being adhered to, and that hand sanitiser was offered on entry. Well done Amonbagh, I can see why you continually receive a 5 star health & cleanliness rating, and understand why you are always so popular and hence busy. Highly recommended, Ross :)

Had a curry from here a few days or so ago now. It’s taken me up until now to be able to write the review... I’ve been ill ever since. The food was bland, dry and the chicken was so undercooked it was still clucking. I can only imagine that the chicken came back to life in the days (or so it seemed) that I was sat waiting in the restaurant for them to hand me my food. Inside the shop - zero social distancing taking place, no guidance for customers or staff. Breeding ground for infection. How this place is open I will never know. I phoned to complain about the food and was met with vile and threatening abuse from the staff. I would avoid this place at all costs. Disgusting food and disgusting management.

Been going to Amonbagh for at least 10 years and I have honestly never had a bad meal in that whole time. The curries are always full of flavour, freshly made and not greasy like some other takeaways. Last night we ordered the chicken tikka razalla, lamb jal massala, saag aloo, keema rice, garlic naan, poppadoms and dips - in total came to around £25. Everything was delicious, piping hot and the service friendly as ever. Can't wait for our next one.

Avoid at all cost, gobsmacked to say the least, 4 wks into the corona virus pandemic and this takeaway has no regard to people's health and safety, I was greeted at the entrance by a member of staff with a face mask and was told to enter there premises where there was at least 8 others crammed into a very short space waiting for food, no social distancing whatsoever and when I approached the member of staff to tell them what I thought about it I was told I'm barred and they couldn't give a f###, absaloutly discusting. They have been reported to the police who are now investigating there failure to comply with the government guidelines.

Been here a few time usually good . Today I ordered the meal for 3 people online as normally do . Got to amonbagh half an hour ordering. Waited another 40 minutes paid then went home one meal missing and our food was warm ???? Never again . Very busy under pressure they can't cope to many mistakes even the the delivery driver is fed up

Really good food cooked by excellent Chefs, you can watch the kitchen in action.Really clean premises and quality staff, who will advise you on choice then personalise your order. Be prepared to wait as quality is slower than quantity but trust me it is worth the wait and really good value.

Definitely by far the best Indian takeaway (now also offering deliveries). Award winning and I can see why. Check out king prawn Marohashan, on the shell even better.

Tried here as a takeaway after seeing it had won Indian takeaway of the year award 2019, we opted for the munchie box which came with a naan and popadums I also got a madras sauce to go with, I did to be honest think it was expensive until it arrived and the amount of food that we got would easily have fed 4 people, the quality and variety of food was great and came piping hot even though they are a good 6 miles from where we live, I will look forward to ordering again soon, we will try a proper curry next time to see if that's as good as the box!

We ordered a takeaway and got it delivered, arrived on time and everything was nice apart from one dish, we ordered a tandori grill for £8-£9 and got greated to a tub with a few bits of meat in it, not sure if they got mixed up with a smaller dish but certainly not worth the money. Nice curries though.

I ordered. Half of my order was delicious but half of it wasn't very nice at all. I sent them a very courteous email and got nothing back. I tried a second time and got nothing back again. Then I made a comment online about customer service and that was deleted but they stated on Facebook that they had got back to me, and they have not. Now they have blocked me from commenting on anything! It was such a shame because I was so excited about trying their food. If you don't like it, do not complain.

As a Preston resident we have a great deal of indian food outlets within 20 miles.

Without doubt the best curry house in Preston. Boss man on the front is very helpful and informative regarding the food. They also answer the phone very quick, and it’s usually ready within 15 minutes despite it constantly being busy!

Went due to its 5 star rating. I asked for a veg biriyani, but asked for a spicy hot sauce instead of the veg sauce, was assured they would do a nice hot one for me. Collected and drove all the way home to Bamber Bridge, no sauce for the biriyani, no veg in it, (I lie there was a pea or two).. and no egg and NO SAUCE. So I had a bowl of rice for dinner. Would not recommend and will not be going again.

First time ordering from this takeaway. Very pleased - we ordered popadoms, chicken biryani, chicken tikka passanda, garlic naan and pilau rice.

I called here collect a vegetarian curry last week and I can honestly say it is the worst indian food I have ever tasted in my life ! It looked like a container of brown sludge and after tasting a little it went straight into the bin .

We are regulars of amonbagh. Wouldnt go anywhere else. Best quality of takeout weve had by far, great service and curries are delicious!

Tried this takeaway for the first time and I have finally found a curry house I can use regularly the food was beautiful, and the delivery service was spot on, 30 minutes from order. Boss was great and helped recommend a meal to my taste.

First time we have ordered from here. We will never go anywhere else now. Lovely food full of flavour. Best Indian in a long time. The delivery driver was so lovely too. Would 100% recommend.

Absolutely best Indian around such friendly people ,they go out of therezway to help you and even delivered to bamber bridge, the tikka masala is the best I ever tried by far and the garlic nans are out of this,world will be using you regularly now thanks again guys xx

Go here quite regularly for a takeaway. Always delicious. Yummy Indian food. We tend to order different curries nearly every order and I have yet to try one that I do not like. Really good curry house. So un fortunate that they don't deliver.

Another amazing meal tonight from Sid and the team, we travel 20 mins for our curry and we are never disappointed, my family have been going here for years and we will continue to go! The food is always tasty and excellent service.

Family take away we were looking forward to. I’m from the Manchester area and know what a good curry should taste like. No flavour !!. I called to express my dissatisfaction and spoke to the manager. He was aggressive and rude. No way to run a business. Then he verbally attacked my nephew who had gone to collect the takeaway, what it had to do with him I do not know !!. What a horrible man. If you want a good curry try elsewhere is my advice .

I had high hopes for this place. We rarely get takeaways but we're looking forward to a tasty curry. Both our dishes were bland and I wish I had just cooked. The dishes were both marked as medium. Won't go again.

Just ordered the chicken lal JAL and it was amazing well worth the money. Rang up ordered it my husband picked it up, no waiting. By far the best Indian in Preston. Will definitely be ordering again.

The Amonbagh has been one of our favourite take away’s for years now.

We have had a curry takeaway from Amonbagh at least once a month for the last 8 years! We have NEVER been disappointed and have introduced the curry’s to friends and family when over to enjoy a takeaway together. I can not describe how good these curry’s are, amazing quality and fresh EVERYTIME! The menu is superb and we have enjoyed trying a lot of the menu and have our favourites.

Go every Friday for my curry night. Boss man on the counter is a top man. Food is just class. Nothing to complain about 👍🏼

Great, great curries. Something for everyone, hot and mild curries available. Bursting with flavour.

Just up the road from us in Fulwood. Been over 10 times and never once been disappointed. Very hospitable and are willing to make changes to dishes regarded how strong you want the curry. I have had Korma's, Balti's and Masala's and all have had stunning distinct flavours and cooked to perfection. Also I take into account the hygiene rating and they have had 5 stars for 6 years in a row. You must try as you will not be disappointed.
