sorry but this place has gone down hill and not what it was. Plus for some bizarre reason they have painted out the windows, just why I wonder 🤔

Dined here Sunday and was blown away by the food which I’d have up there with the top Indian restaurants

It’s a lovely place to have authentic South Indian Food.

Great food and very authentic south Indian food. A lot of seating available for large crowds topped with exceptionally friendly service. My favourite restaurant in Preston for South Indian cuisine.

Great food and excellent service keep us coming back to Maharani. The dishes are always fresh and flavourful and the staff is always friendly and attentive. The only improvement would be a revamp of the interior—right now, the space feels a bit dull, and a refresh could make the atmosphere more open and inviting. Still, it’s one of our favourite spots, and we’ll definitely keep returning!

I've ordered from this restaurant several times and always excellent. Tonight however ordered a lamb biriani . Little or no lamb???? Tasty but meatless?? Tiny flakes of meat. Very expensive for what i received. Wont be ordering again. Since this review the manager contacted me and apologised which I deem to be excellent service. He has arranged a new meal to be delivered which I am sure will be up to the usual excellent standard. Please ignore my earlier review as the situation has been rectified. I ordered chicken curry,awful taste i couldn’t eat, not sure what kind of meat was in it,the place has a strange smell, seats were smelling disgusting, definitely not my place to visit again ;also very expensive .

I recently tried maharani restaurant and was blown away by the flavors and service! The kappa and meen curry was cooked to perfection, portion size was generous, and the price was reasonable. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, with friendly staff who ensured a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend

It was a lovely experience from the perspective of Maharani Restaurant. The service is incredibly good and well worth the money. If you enjoy South Indian cuisine, I recommend this place.

My husband came here on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered a beef curry and husband ordered a lamb bhuna. Both were really delicious and had a good level of spice. Staff were friendly and attentive. My dad recommended this place and we were not disappointed! Definitely will come again

Went here on a Sunday night with my wife. We both had poppadoms and chutney which arrived quickly and were very tasty. The waitress was very attentive and constantly refreshed drinks and took our orders quickly. Both beef and lamb curries we ordered were delicious, with a good level of spice, as requested. The guy at reception was also very friendly and accommodating and the price was indicative of the good quality of food and service we received. (Roughly £30 per person including starters, mains and drinks.)

Do not eat from here they are terrible and it is all jarred sauces !!!!!!!!

I felt like eaten most expensive unhygienic food ...whole my family is sick including my 17 months old baby. Very poor service and very poor hygiene.

A great place for a family dine-in. We visited this restaurant many times and we noticed that the taste and quality of the food that they supply goes better each time. The staffs are very welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend Maharani as the best Indian restaurant in Preston.

Cold, watery and tasteless food, incorrect prawn main course..complained and told I could have extra popadoms by the manager?!?! Definitely one to avoid! Disgusting

I have used Maharani restaurant on a number of occasions now, both for family functions and college batch get togethers in the UK. Every time they excelled in their service, let that be the quality of the items or the quantity of food they served. Tasty every time! I would highly recommend Maharani restaurant, Preston, for all your catering needs. Maharani was not like this before. Taste of the food has been compromised. I have ordered malabar chicken Biriyani and beef curry, it was below the standard.

Too much sauce which was very runny. Could have been thicker tbh. Everything else fresh but mains felt a little light on ingredients.

The chilli garlic chicken was not hot there was no chilli in it and the chips were hard

We hosted a ball for 230 people in Lancaster University and Maharanis were able to cater for everyone and their requirements. I would like to thank Siby and Joby for their help and communication for planning the event as well as the amazing on the day staff who helped deliver and serve the food to all our audience. This is the first time we’ve done an event in Lancaster where everyone has unanimously loved the food. Thank you once again to Maharanis!!!

Nice south indian kerala style. Special mention Kappa meen curry combo. Ambiance is ok. Waiting time needed. Large tables available. Lots of free parking. Other dishes tried are ok and give 4. Jug of juices lassy and lemon juice recommended for the group. The staff with good service. Not very spicy but kerala style not british style spicy. The second recommendation is beef.

The food here is fantastic, but for dining-in, the atmosphere is lacking and the service even more so.

As a Malayali, there is a food style and a taste that I have in mind... I am mad that I went there expecting that..

We ordered from Maharani for my daughter’s christening and the food was fantastic. All our guests were commenting on how delicious everything was. The lamb curry and appam were particularly tasty. We will definitely order from them again and I am hoping to visit the restaurant in person soon.

had a takeaway from here before but this time was dry the poppadoms was soft everything that should be fresh felt like was the day before stuff. Garlic naan was £4.50 which I thought expensive and it wasn't anything to be proud of look like the ones we get from supermarkets. sorry it was great but wouldn't bother again

We went to have sadya on Sunday .as expected very busy .We called up to request reservation were told to come at 1 pm .We managed to get seated by 130 and had a wonderful meal . Service was friendly , staff paid very good attention to us and looked after us.in all we enjoyed the meal .will definitely visit again .

More than 3 hours of delay to deliver Onam sadya. No one answering the phone. Why they take pre order when can’t deliver on time. Food was a disaster. Ruined the whole day. Worst customer service.

The best Indian meal I have ever had! Such a hidden gem. I cannot rave about this place’s food enough….absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. Lower stars on atmosphere only because we went on a Thursday evening.

Not very hot, madras was very watery and a lot of herbs that was overpowering, had to heat up the onion bargees in the microwave. Won’t be ordering from here again

The food is very very good and tasty. They customised the items in your order according to your taste( more spice or salty like that) I seen most of the restaurant in preston there no options like this according to the customer taste. The staff are very friendly and polite and respectfully treat the customers. Better to go with the family for this restaurant on your special days. If your busy to go the restaurant call the restaurant and order your food they will deliver you in promised time.

The staff here are just lovely. Whilst waiting they brought me some rice pudding and I felt awful refusing as I can’t have milky stuff but they were so nice about it. Food lovely. Discounted by near a tenner for collecting and booking directly with them. Great value for money Thank you

All reviews are bots… you may as well microwave rice and pour a jar of supermarket sauce over a bag of frozen chicken.

It was a delightful experience from the side of Maharani restaurant. The service is extremely good and a way worth for the money. If you like to have experience of South Indian foods I would like to recommend this restaurant.

Delicious Indian food and plenty of quantity.

Kerala paratha is nice with their kothamali chicken curry. We had Briyani which we are not happy. It taste nothing no spice at all. Waiter should have asked before taking order about spice level he considered by himself and mentioned that we are okay with minimum spice level.

Amazing curries full of flavour. Slight error in order however they went above and beyond to correct. Will definitely order again.

We came here on Saturday the 29th after booking a table online. When we arrived they were not aware of our reservation and it took a few minutes for us to be seated. They weren't busy and there was plenty of tables free. The floor throughout was very slippy, I'm assuming they'd waxed it or something but We had to walk cautiously to avoid slipping. We ordered and was then told a few minutes later they had no pakoras, disappointed. Our poppadoms came with a Chutney tray. With consisted of two mango Chutneys, onion's and some other dip that resemblanced a medicine taste. There was no mint yoghurt or chilli sauce. The chicken tikka starter and the other recommended starter came and they were nice. However, I'd ordered a chicken tikka rogan josh and couldn't eat it, it tasted like chicken cooked in a marinara sauce, not resembling a rogan josh at all. We weren't asked at any point if our food was okay either. We asked for the bill and was told to go and pay at the reception to pay. Once round there we had to wait again for a few minutes whilst a man had to manually type everything individual we'd ordered into the till. We were not asked if everything has been ok at this point either. Unfortunately our experience was not a great one and we would not return. The staff were pleasant, but not attentive at all.

Staff so nice and friendly. Food is excellent. Biryani is a must. And the lamb dishes melt in your mouth like they should do. Can't speak highly enough of this wonderful restaurant 👍

We thought we’d try this Indian restaurant as we’ve driven past a few times. We are glad we did and we’d definitely come again. Staff so friendly and the food tasted delicious we are happy with our experience. There were limited parking spaces but had no trouble finding a spot. We really enjoyed the food and would most definitely come back

Not a brilliant experience at all. Food was not to my liking at all, fairly bland and onion bahjis did not seem fresh at all. Service was the area it was let down the most, waited an hour for starters and they all came at different times. Won't be going again.

Lovely food, relaxed atmosphere

We had very good experience here. The food was reminding the authentic aromo. Loved the vegetable biryani. Which was customized to my taste. They use coconut oil and coconut milk which was very evident. The dosa is on the menu but you need to pre order it as the batter is prepapred freshly.

The dining experience was highly disappointing, earning a mere one-star rating. The food was excessively oily, leaving a greasy residue on every dish. Moreover, portion sizes were inconsistent, with some dishes barely filling the plate. The lack of attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of the food was evident. Overall, the experience failed to meet even the most basic expectations, leaving a dissatisfied taste in every bite. It's regrettable to say that I cannot recommend this establishment based on my unfortunate encounter.

Had a very wonderful dinner experience here. The service was really really good. The restaurant even arranged a cake for my friend's bday dinner within a short notice. Loved the ambience and service of the restaurant.

Travelled a long distance to explore the food from Maharani by seeing great reviews in social media. But unfortunately the decision was a disaster, the food was not up to the level both in quantity and quality. Service was also very bad, once after taking the initial order no one was there to enquire what else we needed. Overall it was a bad experience

Me and my mate went there on a Tuesday. We traveled almost 70 miles to reach as people were posting reels about the restaurant. I would comment the choice as a DISASTER. We ordered " Fish Pollichathu " , which they served in a banana leaf , as a mallu I was giving too much expectation before opening the item, the entire fish was just a fillet covered with 1 kg of Onion with loads of semi cooked Indian masala. Genuinely it is NOT a recommending item from my side. The "Beef Ularthyathu" was the second item I ordered, unlike the above,this time we were lucky as we got many coconut pieces and the rest of the onion from above along with 2 beef piece each. " Tholpichu kalanju njngale ' The poratta was too nice and tasty. Overall it was NOT a worth to money buying option when comparing with quality and quantity of Food being served. NOTE : (To so called Food Vloggers) don't give over hype to people when your Machan and Mamen is working over there.

Wow. I’ve ordered from here before and usually ordered my usual madras and I have always been impressed with the quality and flavour of the food. This time I went for one of their specialities ‘Nadan Beef Curry’ and that was just another level. Restaurant quality and then some. Amazing flavours from southern India. I lived every mouthful.

Restaurant was very cold, people should not be sat in coats eating. Took around 45-60mins to get papadums from ordering, food was good but spoilt by restaurant temperature and long waits

Nice South Indian place at the heart of Preston. We ordered Dosa which wasn't available (pre-order only) well that's a major bummer. However the order was flavourful and rooted to the origins. Overall nice experience but the ambiance could be made alot better.

The curry was full of water, wasn't very nice at all, some strange bone was in it aswell, I ate some, then 4am this morning I was throwing up! Not good.

Good service and excellent food

I’ve just had probably the worst takeaway curry meal I’ve ever had, in the Preston area!! 5 small pieces of chicken per meal ( there was 3 of us) very watery sauce with no flavour. All this for £9 per portion (without rice). We’ll never get a takeaway from there again and I advise you not to get one either

Had their Onam sadhya and was really impressed with the quality of the food and the way it was served. Their hospitality was top notch. Would go back to try the other items on their menu.

Brings everything authentic to Kerala - decor, vibes and the food. Had vada, pepper calamari, lamb, iddyappam and porotta. Food was delicious and authentic. The staff is very warm and polite too. Strongly recommend to all who loves South Indian cuisine. Would definitely visit again.

First time here on our visit to Preston. Based on the reviews here it sounded good. We both like a hot curry and we discussed this with the waiter whome advised us not to go for the hottest and we settled on a prawn vindaloo each, naan and rice. We were not disappointed! The curry was amazing. Great flavour and boy was it hot, (we were glad we didn't go for the hottest), The rice was good and the garlic naan was excellent. We also washed it down with a lovely chilled large bottle of kingfisher. We are usually disappointed with many curry houses that don't seem to be able to make a flavourful very hot curry, not the case here. These guys certainly deliver. We will certainly be back and hopefully spend more time sampling this lovely food which also offered great value for money Great work guys. 👌

Really lovely curries, naan bread was spot on, the masala was a little sweet for my taste but I’m still rating 5 stars all round. Will 100% recommend and be ordering again very soon. ❤️👌🏻💪🏻👍🏻
