Mowgli Street Food in Preston

First time eating here. Was allowed in earlier AND got a lovely window, swing seat Food was gorgeous, full of flavour, authentic and very tasty. The staff are happy to talk you through the menu. I want to say a personal thank you to luke. What a lovely guy. Nothing was too much trouble. Which is exactly the feeling you're wanting on a evening out. Makes a big difference ! Thank you

Great food and service the treacle fries are a different level

We had the most mouth watering food off the sharing platter when my friend and I popped in for a late lunch on Thursday. A wonderful ambience and a 1st rate service from Ray just added to the whole experience. Will definitely be returning.

Good food and great service the only thing that lets this place down is I hate it when they add a sneaky service charge on the bill without even asking you it’s not London and it shouldn’t be happening it’s sneaky!

What a FANTASTIC chain this restaurant is part of. We have eaten in the Edinburgh one also. If you are looking for something more special this is the place to eat. You have an excellent chef as the menu never fails to exceed our expectations . The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. And the ambience is wonderful with the beautiful light fest decorations - really quite magical & exotic. The metal work on the staircase down to the toilets are stunning. THANK YOU very much, we will be back!

Service was initially a bit slow in that we weren't asked for a drinks order while looking at the menu. However, once we placed the food order the service picked up. The food was excellent. Beautiful flavours and well presented. The only gripe I have is probably a common one. The last time I visited the service charge was taken automatically but there was the option to decline it. That option is now gone. The charge added an extra £6 to the bill. That doesn't seem a lot but when people are having to think carefully about eating out for budgetary reasons it can make a big difference. I would have tipped but I want that to be my choice, and I would like to choose how much. There are no signs (that I saw) or any notification about this charge beforehand which makes it feel a bit underhand The cost of drinks is also an issue. You obviously expect to pay more for drinks in a restaurant, but £5.45 for a small bottle of Cobra is excessive. I would eat here again without doubt because as I said the food is excellent but I can't help but think some would be put off returning

Great atmosphere.Food was average. Ginger chicken and gun powder chicken, lamb were nice. Other dishes we felt needed more cooking/ spices? And developed bloating. However great dine in experience.

Our first time and long awaited visit to Mowgli Preston celebrating my 40th birthday after loving watching Nisha Katona on tv & enjoying making her delicious food & wow we weren't dissapointed! After some bad examples of customer services when we went for a couple of drinks beforehand it was great to come to such a welcoming, warm, friendly atmosphere at Mowgli! Me & my husband sat in swing seats which were great & the decor inside was brilliant! Ray was fantastic, such a top bloke & so friendly and attentive & clearly loves his job & is great at it, nothing was too much bother for him & he was also telling us about the fantastic charity work that he & Mowgli support for Derian House which is a truly worthy cause! The food was absolutely brilliant! Chatt bombs & gunpowder chicken are a must & we also had fenugreek kissed chips, roti breads, rice, butter chicken & goan fish curry & there wasn't a scrap left! I wanted to try everything on the menu & will definitely be back and I've since bought the Mowgli street food book to recreate the dishes at home too! Highly recommend for the food, atmosphere & customer service 🙌😃

My husband and I went here earlier this week looking forward to trying something different. We were greeted at the door by a friendly waitress and given a choice of seats. We we given menus and later the drinks order was taken by a waitress who mumbled very quietly and we had to ask her to repeat what she said. As it was our first time we decided to get the street food sharer at £25 each. Our drinks came, we only ordered a cup of tea and a sanpellegrino. The food came brought by the first waitress who explained all the dishes and the best way to eat them. The food was very tasty but not very warm. It was served in tiffin tins which may have contributed to the lack of heat. The table could have done with a wipe before dessert but never mind. We went to pay at the till as a bill wasn't given. The waitress told me the price £62.50 and It didn't sound quite right to me but I continued to pay, while trying to work it out in my head, I just thought maybe the drinks were quite expensive. I was aware that £1 went to charity. I gave the waitress £70 and she asked me if I would like my change. This l thought was a very odd question. My husband asked if she would prefer the tip in cash or on the bill. The waitress said it didn't matter so we said to keep the change for a tip, £7.50. We left and the cost still didn't sound right to me. I checked the price and realised that a ten percent service charge had been added to the bill. At no stage of the meal were we made aware of this, I saw it online when I was checking the price. If I was given a bill I may have noticed. Why would waitress ask if I wanted my change when the service charge was already included? The drinks were £6. Now I realise why the bill was £62.50. I have ended up leaving a £13 tip for a £56 meal. I have emailed Mowgli to ask about the service charge and have had no response, this I find unacceptable. It seems inappropriate to ask if I wanted my change when a tip was already included This has coloured my experience of Mowgli

Found some bones in my food, Plus gave use the wrong drink that was for to acidic.

Second time of visiting, exceptional service from Ray, Ryan and the team. A warm welcome, beautiful surroundings and of course the most sublime food and drinks. There are not enough superlatives. Ordered more than we could eat...takeaway bags at the ready! Just the best street food.

Excellent new experience, Indian Street Food. Had the sharing platter with my wife Ann and we both enjoyed the variety of textures and flavours. Plenty of food for two including a bomb (be warned) for starters, five generous tapas style mains and a salted caramel ice cream dessert. Topped it with excellent service, friendly staff and right opposite the bus stop home!

Please try the Rose lychee martini !AMAZING! Been there a couple times and never left disappointed. Really nice atmosphere

This restaurant's delivery service is very bad. And the manager of this restaurant is very bad. They didn't treat us well. He gave us cold food. Please no one comes here, this is only good for decoration, fully related is absolutely bad. And the second thing is that they don't provide good service to the customer. When we arrived at this hotel, we were told that the kitchen was closed. We came here after calling already. These people's ideas are stupid. We were given a spoon in a can of ghee. And it was rusted inside. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Visited this evening for the first time in a while after coming a lot in 2024 (10/01), it also appeared to be the quietest i’ve ever seen the place. Unfortunately, probably one of the worst visits. The service this evening absolutely let the experience down. We were only one of four tables in the whole place in the space of an hour/hour&half. There was literally double the amount of staff than customers! We had to wait a while to order, sat about 15/20 minutes for plates to be cleared, had to ask for a dessert menu.. no check back or offer of more drinks. The staff were much more interested in having their own little chats, changing use by labels on products behind the bar for new ones, complaining about a booking due in for 10pm.. the list could go on. Won’t be coming again.

I have been looking forward to visiting this restaurant for some time and I’m pleased to say it did not disappoint. The quality of the freshly cooked food was of an exceptional standard, and the Staff could not have been more accommodating of our needs if they had tried. Special thanks to Ray who is doing amazing job of creating a vibrant yet friendly atmosphere. Well done Mowgli we will definitely be back, do yourself a favour and give this place a try, you won’t regret it

Good doesn’t taste Indian at all……

The service was excellent, we went for my mum's birthday and they were so friendly and kind. Talked us through the menus and answered any questions we had. The food was delicious I'd highly recommend the paneer and the gulab jamun. We'll definitely be going again🤩

Lovely food i would say its like indian tapas, they have a good gluten free menu. Highly recommend the mowgli sticky chicken and the gun powder, twinkly lights give it a lovely vibe/ atmosphere , we didn’t get to sit on the swings this time, always a reason to go back.

The first time going, the food was amazing, myself and my daughter went last night. The staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere was great. Just fantastic we will definitely be going back

Love Mowgli generally but have had such an unfortunate experience. Recommend going to any of the other locations as service seems to take a back seat at this location.

Been years since we tried this restaurant chain and very impressed with tonight’s special meal. Great menu selection with brilliant service. The food was delicious and will be back.

First time here with family, love Indian Food so thought we would give this a try. Great atmosphere and surroundings, didn't sit on a swing just bench seats, you missed the back after a while. You order starter, mains and sides at the same time and they all come together in small metal dishes, ordering some different ones gives you the chance to try various dishes. We didnt wait long for a food and tbf when it comes all at once your meal seems to be over quicker than normal, but it was excellent, we all really enjoyed it and not too expensive. Definitely worth a try, don't be put off by reading the menu which does look very different to a normal Indian, just give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Mowgli is just amazing! I’ve been to the Preston branch and also tried the Manchester one, and it’s always so good. The mother butter chicken is full of flavour Alhamdulilah, it’s perfect every time. The naan pitta bread is unreal, and the chaat bombs are lovely.. I’ve been 3-4 times now, and it never disappoints.

Food was pretty good but disappointed that the starters & main courses were brought at the same time and that having ordered the meat street food sharer, 2 of the curries were vegetable and the other 2 both chicken.

Sometimes hard to get in really worth booking in advance won’t be disappointed. The atmosphere is beautiful never been anywhere like it. Labour for money is great u get what u pay for. Lovely visit as always - Staff, particularly our server, Lauren, were (as usual) attentive, friendly and incredibly helpful - Food was served quick, hot and delicious - Especially impressive considering the number of large groups that were dining during our visit - The team here are always lovely, clearly enjoy their job and are always a delight to interact with - Not relevant during this visit but during previous visits where we've been dining with my Mother who suffers from Coeliac disease, it's always reassuring to see how seriously the team here take this and the precautions that are put into place to make sure her meal is served safely with care, which is always appreciated - Thank you very much to the entire team :)

Fantastic little restaurant. We were walking down Church street after a spot of Christmas shopping and were immediately drawn in by the smell of curry wafting down the street. The waiter recommended the agra ginger chicken and the Goan fish curry and all I can say is WOW. Some of the best food I have ever tasted. The service was impeccable and i was fairly reasonably priced. I think we have found our new favourite restaurant

Such a lovely place! Food is unbelievable, so tasty! Staff are brilliant at explaining the menu & any recommendations. The kids love going too. Very good value for the amount you get. One of our favourite places to go! And a beautiful interior setting. Definitely recommend the sticky chicken & the ginger chicken curry

Food was fine, but all tastes the same. Won’t bother again and would rather go to an Indian restaurant. Took 10 minutes to have our drinks order taken. Can’t eat properly on the swing chairs. Food took 30-40 ish minutes to come out. In addition to that, half of the food came 15 minutes later. Whilst I’m aware food comes when it’s ready, that’s a big gap and I was finished before my partner started. 10% service charge too and wish I’d have requested it be taken off which I don’t usually do.

We ordered a mix of nine dishes to sample plus roti bread , the currys came in small round tiffin tins don't expect a takeaway portion here I'd say about one third of a tin foil container portion, good tasting sauces, sticky chicken was lovely dark and swee large portion ,Dahl dishes creamy deep flavour very filling , turmeric fries aren't fries at all but cubes very bland dissapointing, don't forget your reading glasses its small print on menu and dim lit , very clean venue REALLY great team on the floor, fantastic to see a range for vegans too. Wasn't asked if we had the mowgli app for sticker reward at pay.

Date night with the hubster first time here. Loved it. We had the sharing menu first time ever my husband has said wow over his fist mouthful of food. We were in early after some christmas shopping but thankfully we booked in advance.

Excellent food, loads of choice. The best of the food we chose was the paneer sort of curry, sorry I can't remember the exact choice but all the food we had tasted really good. Really nice staff.

This was my first visit to Mowgli and I cannot believe I haven’t been before! The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the team are so friendly and helpful. Ryan talked me through the menu and made some amazing recommendations (you have to try the yoghurt chat bombs!). Other favourite dishes were the sticky chicken and the paneer, the flavours were unreal. Thank you to the team for an amazing lunch!

Had the bunny chow and sticky chicken. Couldn’t fault it, great flavours and chow served in bread like at home in South Africa.

All our food (9-10 dishes) was brought out at the same time. Previously this has been in waves when Iv been before Never asked if our food was ok, or if we’d like more drinks. I had to get up to get more drinks twice. When I asked for the bill the waiter pointed out the charity donation which was ringed in pen. Didn’t mention the 10% service charge which they added automatically Food was really tasty so no complaints with that side of it There was no atmosphere except the blind drunk woman sat behind me singing like a strangled cat every few mins

Nice spot easy to get to plenty of parking. A bit loud when we got there due to a few large groups being in on a Saturday night. These left shortly after we arrived and things got back to an acceptable level. We went for the street food for two meal @£25 per head. This included an ice cream or sorbet desert. Staff were very attentive but not overly so. Very varied drinks menu. I would certainly go again.

Wow this is a fantastic food restaurant with a twist walk in and first question you are asked would you like a swing seat, so had one of them we went for the sharing platter all i can say fantastic food really tasty and great picking different things. The staff are outstanding friendly chatty and well mannered nothing is much bother definitely be back

Mowgli is an exceptional chain, and this branch fits right in! The food was amazing as always, and the decor is fantastic. Staff were super friendly and very good with our little ones. Highchairs and a children's menu available.

Really looking forward to eating at Mowgli but we found the food under whelming. The fenugreek fries were just cubed potatoes. The prawn curry looked liked it had just been cooked in a tin of tomatoes. Overall very disappointing

Great for an anal clear out. The food was awesome, service great, price a little on the high side but for a fancy chain you expect that. The spice has made it feel like I've had a great enema however.

This is a nice place but the portions are just RIDICULOUS. It's 10 quid for a portion of curry, which seems reasonable, except they're so minute I would need about 5 of them to be full. Plus the tiny portion of rice is 4 quid, and I would need 3 of them. And then the tiny bottle of beer is £5.25. So 3 bottles of beer and enough food is probably about £80pp. I only spent about £40 (just on me) so I'm still starving and will need to cook again when I get home. Joke.

It was our 1st time visiting. When I do my reviews I say how it is. Firstly a beautiful light up restaurant. Beautiful refreshing foods with different flavours and spices that my mouth loves. Don't lose your chef because he is a good cook and pat on the back for these amazing new foods we have never tried before. Food was served quickly. Those yogurt chatt bombs were divine. Food was absolutely fantastic, especially the yogurt bombs and the paneer dishes. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was lovely. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much for them, Caitlin and Ray especially were absolutely brilliant. Highly recommend and cannot wait to come back, best mowgli by far!!

Perfection. Indian Cuisine and the Jungle like atmosphere done at its best. Swinging chairs was a lovely edition and kept my ADHD self happy. The food was tasty, and although we were told preemptively that the dishes served are small (order 2 or more per person) we found 1 dish and the rice plenty! So very good value for money. They also provided cocktails which were scrumptious. Even the bathrooms were a treat, all decorated to suit the atmosphere throughout. Staff were incredibly friendly! Coming back for sure! Highlighted dishes have to be the Butter Chicken, Treacle Tamarind Fries (Perfection) and the Fish Curry. 5/5

Great atmosphere and appetizing ambience. The food quality is very good. However, portion sizes are on the smaller side considering the price point. Worth a visit for the excellent flavours and pleasant setting, but be prepared for slightly less value in terms of quantity.

Went enroute during our travel. Good atmosphere. Food was ok ; nothing to write home about and fairly pricey for the amount you’d get. They’ve tried to refine Indian food but may have lost some of the soul in translation!

We recently visited whilst out shopping for the day, we loved the food and the decor of the place. Service was also great. Will definitely return when we are in the area next.

Having been to eat here many times in the evening we found ourselves in Preston during the daytime so booked a table for lunch for the first time. So glad we did as the food was as sensational as always. Unfortunately we parked outside using our Blue Disabled Badge only to find due to the poor signposting we had unintentionally parked in the wrong place and received a parking ticket. So beware one and all the two places resembling parking bays next to the disabled parking bays are actually not parking bays!!!! The Disabled parking places were all filled, with two of the cars not displaying blue badges. Tried not to let it spoil what had up to that point an excellent day and we have appealed the ticket.

Had a lovely time here food was unreal very tasy and fresh, staff also very friendly couldn't do enough for you nice atmosphere too I would definitely recommend it.

Loved the setup, place is very clean, the food is good, ordered the set menu so managed to get a taste of a variety of dishes, some did lack the spices, but the overall is good, not heavy on the oil which is good. Would definetly recommend a visit.

Really enjoyed our experience at Mowgli Preston. We came in for some food before the football and was extremely impressed. Ray the manager couldn't have done more to give us a fantastic experience. The choice of food and drinks on the children's menu is amazing, even including some fantastic mocktails. The butter chicken and ginger chicken curry's were incredible and were served quickly and piping hot. Can not wait to return soon!!

"Meh".....not a good description of my first visit to Mowgli, but it is highly accurate. For the most part, the food lacked flavour and depth. I had chicken thigh and coleslaw starter, which was the best thing I ate. This was very nice. Then on to the main. I had the lamb curry, which was watery and lacked depth, as did most of the curries. I had coconut ice cream desert which was delicious, but also had some mango sorbet, which again, lacked depth and was tasteless. The price wouldn't have been too bad but a 10% service charge for very inattentive staff was a bit of an affront. Every drink had to be asked for. Only when we'd stacked all the plates did they look to move them. Never asking once if everything was alright. Far to busy huddling together chatting about their weekend whilst we tried to catch their eye. The place is nice, but we did request not to sit on the swings, a bizarre design that I'm sure a minority may appreciate. I wouldn't go again. If I wanted that whole experience, I'd go to dishoom in Manchester. Great food, great atmosphere and great staff. If I was after just a great tasting curry I'd just go to Olive of Sinai, Bukhara or a couple of the items off East is East menu. Can't recommend I'm afraid.
