The Alwyne Castle in Islington

Dreadful treatment by the manager here on Saturday 11 sept. I ordered a bottle of wine at the bar and after having paid for it was told I couldn’t take the bottle outside and the wine would have to be served to me in several plastic cups! With the hot sun they would soon warm up so I said that wasn’t acceptable. They said they would find a solution and I asked them to bring it to the table for me. They basically brought the wine in an open see through container which would also warm up in the sun! I asked for a refund and waited for them to come out with the machine to refund me. Nothing. No communication, nothing!! So I ordered a glass of wine online and when it was brought out I asked the waiter to refund me the bottle. He told me I would have to go inside again for this. I did and what appeared to be the manager (in name only) was at a table playing on his phone. I mentioned that people should be told before paying for a bottle that they cannot take it outside and he said ok, no apology, nothing and without even looking up from his phone!! When I mentioned this he said ‘im working’!! As if responding to a customer who was unhappy was not part of his job! Refusing to look me in the eye. His brush off, terrible attitude ruins the reputation of the Alwyne .

We went to the Alwynne castle for the euros final on Sunday. Unfortunately we had a very negative experience. We had no umbrella to accommodate for the wet weather. We also overheard a staff member say he had moved his friends onto our table which was covered and then when we were given ponchos at half they proceeded to tell us there were none left as we left the pub. This was despite us having left unopened ponchos on the table. Security staff were very rude and in attempts to get away from the rain we were continually yelled at. We won’t be returning due to such a negative experience and a few staff members ruining it for the rest. B

We came to watch the Euro finals and the charming friendly staff bent over backwards to accommodate us and make sure we had a good table and a good view. Incredibly friendly, buzzing atmosphere, great food great beer with clean lines. Couldn’t recommend this place higher ******

Booked here here for a friends birthday for a large group of people. The staff seem to have taken the title of the pub literally as we were treated like a hostile force besieging the castle. They watched us like hawks and swooped in to threaten expulsion at any opportunity.

Really unpleasant pub. There are so many good pubs in London so don’t bother with this one. The beer is expensive, the front yard is just picnic tables with buses driving around you and worst of all the manager is awful. He seems not to want anyone there, power tripping, making the place really unpleasant for everyone (including other staff it seems). Bad bad vibe from the ginger man wearing the headband lol

It’s rare that I write reviews but I’ll make an exception in this instance. The staff were unbearably rude on a number of occasions when I visited Alwyne Castle yesterday afternoon. There was one particular man, red head with a hairband, who appeared to go out of his way to be unpleasant to my table and other tables. I’ve actually seen another bad review about him from another party. On two occasions, I had to wait close to half an hour for a drink, when I enquired about my order, I was rudely told to continue waiting. I understand that working behind a bar can be stressful, and hospitality is a period of healing, but the levels of rudeness from some of the male staff created a tense atmosphere and made me uncomfortable. Overpriced pints.

Visited here last night with wife daughter her hubby and our two grandsons. We had booked. Covid 19 was being treated seriously. We had a nice table. staff were very friendly. The food was lovely tho a bit pricey. Only moan was the toilets stunk badly

Went to the Alwyn Castle for the first time this Sunday. £6.30 for a pint of Camden Lager. £12 for a large wine and £9.50 for a double vodka. Between 3 of us we spent over £200 in around 4 hours. That was with a couple of portions of chicken things and chips. Nice enough staff but like many other pubs after COVID. They are taking the p#@#. £4/5 I get but £6.30 . Won’t be going back.

Excellent pub, staff are wonderful. Will booked us in at short notice and we had a great table. We will definitely be returning.

I went here last night for drinks with friends. The two staff that served us ( apart from the young female black server who was great) were rude and grumpy and had an ‘ I don’t want to be here attitude. I will never return.

Called on the off chance they may have a table today early doors and managed to accommodate. Burger was amazing and service really quick and very friendly and welcoming! Would highly recommend. Great Pub.

Very poor customer service, will not be returning. Staff were rude and didn’t make any effort to make our visit pleasant. They also struggled with the capacity they set themselves. Find another pub. Do yourself a favour.

Best pub around for meeting with friends outside of your bubble! Loads of outdoor seating, and the service is great. The waitstaff weren't pushy, but were clear about the rules. Good food, and a great vibe.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon for a roast dinner with my partner. Couldn’t have asked for better. The staff were so attentive and the food was great. Seeing Alan Davies was a bonus. But not as good as the atmosphere. Great COVID precautions and always felt safe. Will always return again!

I've been to the Alwyne Castle loads of times - mostly, good visits. Had such an enjoyable night recently though that I thought I've leave a review. My friends and I sat at a big table outside. Servers were lovely and attentive and the bar snacks were great.I can imagine it's pretty hard to strike a balance between following Covid restrictions and letting people have a good time. They're balancing it well at the moment - no one was too pushy or rude, but it all felt safe too.Thank you! Will be back soon.

We visited during the eat out to help out scheme and the pub had put some good measures in place to make everyone feel safe. It does benefit from a large outdoor area which makes this a little easier. Unfortunately despite this there was a mix up with a dietary requirement which although was fixed without argument it meant that one of the party didn't get their main course until everyone else had finished. The food was good as was the service in general.

I've been a regular visitor to The Alwyne pre and post pandemic. I don't post on trip advisor often but definitely credit is due for The Alwyne. They've really made the most of the outdoor space in order to accommodate people given the current restrictions. The food and beer selection is as good as ever and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Best of luck during lockdown to all at The Alwyne and I look forward to seeing you again when you open up.

With the new restrictions, having this incredible beer garden with good beer selection and friendly staff is a gift! We had great time sitting outside and relaxing. Our server was fantastic and kept our pints full. We will be heading back all winter long.

Had the best rump steak I've had in years and received top notch service from Finn. His attentiveness, friendliness and knowledge of the best beers and spirits were greatly appreciated and have guaranteed that we will be back again. Great stuff!

Stumbled across this pub whilst looking for a place with a good beer garden in North London. Served by Jess who was amazing and recommended the calamari (ended up ordering a second portion!) lovely pub with super friendly staff! Will definitely be back soon!

I visited this lovely pub on Thursday and had one of the best experiences since this awful pandemic started. Not only was the pub - in particular the beer garden just lovely. The burgers were DELICIOUS and I was served by one of the loveliest, friendliest and funniest waitresses (Helena). She created such a wonderful atmosphere despite being super busy and rushed off her feet, she was extremely attentive and reassuring. I will 100% be heading back soon!

Before myself and my friend could ask if we could have a table outside, due to the new Tier 2 covid restrictions, the guy standing at the entrance literally barked at us « Put your mask on, put your mask on! » even though we were stood outside and more than 2m away from him. He hardly made any eye contact with either of us, was abrupt and said they were booked up for the afternoon despite there being several empty tables. He couldn’t give me a time when we could return and waffled before I finally got a definitive answer out of him. His attitude made our mind up not to return and we then found a local Wetherspoons where you could sit outside and it was much cheaper, with good food and much friendlier staff. I’d avoid this place if I was you.

Had a really good outdoor experience at the Alwyne Castle - booked a table outside with friends to comply with Tier 2 and Dan and Finn did a great job working the outside tables even though we were sat at the farthest end of the courtyard! Really enjoyed ourselves and food was great, despite the rain. Surprisingly good atmosphere despite being all outside!

Friendly, professional staff. Finn makes the best Bloody Mary I’ve had in ages. Recommend and will be back soon.

Wow what a treat. Dan only Dan was such fantastic guy had the best time even though we were outside they found us somewhere dry to sit. Excellent table service. Would recommend. Adhering to government advice.

I had a really lovely time at the Alwyne! Was staying in Highbury on a work trip and came in here for an evening drink and ended up staying for food, it was absolutely lovely! Would definitely recommend the pie & mash and the staff were excellent. They really knew what they were doing with the new Covid restrictions and measurements. I chatted to a couple of staff members who were all really lovely and told me good places to visit in the area, and my server Dan was great.A great selection of beers too!Would definitely recommend and will return next time I am down for work

A group of 5 went for dinner last night where we sat outside to comply with Covid restrictions. When we first arrived at 1830 it wasn't very busy (half the tables were empty) but it took around 20/25 minutes to even get a menu and our drinks orders in. Sometimes this can happen which is fine but it just got worse as the place filled up. When our food arrived we were told the cutlery and sauces would be out shortly - 10 minutes later we had to go find it ourselves to avoid either eating our food with our hands or eating cold food with cutlery. After 20 minutes of waiting for our second round of drinks (which was also a struggle to order as two servers wouldn't take the order and didnt seem to want to send the correct person over to us) I ventured into the bar to inquire about our order (2 bottles of wine) and was rudely instructed: 'go back to your table, we're churning them out as quickly as possible'. During our 25 minute long struggle to get someone to allow us to pay our bill my friend went to ask inside and the same young bartender (dark haired male) told my friend to 'have some patience and someone would be out soon'. This isn't how to treat anyone, let alone a customer.I understand staffing and planning is difficult in these times but apart from one lovely girl working out front we were all shocked by the rudeness of the staff. Maybe if there are a few more of them they will be under less pressure and might be able to treat their customers with some respect.

Vibrant atmosphere, great pub food and very friendly staff - we were served by Hellie who was so attentive even though it was obviously very busy, all seemed to be rushed off their feet but always had such lovely smiles which is so needed in times like these! I wanted to leave a review as it must be so tough for staff at the moment with the new rules etc and these guys did such a smashing job. Thank you! And to Hellie for making our evening xx

Reservé para las 7 pm con 3 amigos y llegamos a las 6:15 para ver si podíamos conseguir nuestra mesa temprano (sabiendo que sería nuestra responsabilidad si todo estaba lleno, no pretendemos recibir un trato especial). La mesa reservada no estaba disponible, pero en realidad no había una, sino cinco mesas vacías, por lo que todavía había una manera de acomodarnos. Claramente, la señora del frente no quería esforzarse demasiado y nos dijo que estas mesas estaban reservadas para los próximos 45 minutos (me cuesta creer eso) y que arruinaría su organización si nos sentáramos en una de las mesas vacías durante 45 minutos y luego pasar a la nuestra (o incluso esperar en el improbable caso de que el grupo de 5 invitados apareciera al mismo tiempo). Ella parecía molesta porque le estaba sugiriendo esto, así que no hace falta decir que fue bastante antipática. Fuimos al pub al otro lado de la calle y lo pasamos muy bien mientras ella disfrutaba de sus mesas vacías durante otros 45 minutos. Qué pena.

Hoy disfruté de un delicioso almuerzo dominical aquí, hermosa carne tierna, yorkies esponjosos, asados crujientes, verduras bien cocidas que habían sido preparadas y sazonadas con cuidado. Mi padre disfrutó especialmente de la deliciosa salsa de la que pedimos una jarra extra, ¡de la que no hubo problema! Definitivamente regresaremos para el almuerzo del domingo y durante la semana para probar el menú principal.

Reservamos una mesa para el almuerzo, y aunque la confirmación de la reserva decía 2 horas, nos pidieron que nos fuéramos después de 90 minutos porque esta era la nueva política del pub. Tuvimos algunas idas y venidas antes de que acordaran que podíamos quedarnos y tomar el desierto. Nos pidieron que nos fuéramos inmediatamente después de pedir una botella de vino porque el tiempo máximo permitido en el pub era de 2 horas. Había un montón de mesas vacías, por lo que no tenía mucho sentido cuando estábamos gastando dinero. El personal nos trajo algunos vasos de plástico, así que fuimos y nos sentamos en una mesa de picnic afuera de la parte delantera del pub para beber el vino en el frío, solo para que nos dijeran que tampoco podíamos hacer eso, ya que estaba en las instalaciones. ! Fue tan extraño y el personal fue tan grosero. Una forma tan extraña de tratar a los consumidores que acaban de gastar 200 cuando tienes un pub vacío. Terrible experiencia, sin lógica alguna para la regla, no volveremos.

Fui ayer para una comida de cumpleaños con mis amigos y lo pasé excelente.Realmente agradable ver que todas las regulaciones de COVID se aplicaron correctamente, así que me sentí realmente cómodo. Tenía el rosbif que era absolutamente fantástico y nuestra camarera (Shiloe, si recuerdo bien) era absolutamente excepcional. ¡Muy amable y nos cuidó adecuadamente!¡Gracias por una gran tarde chicos!

We had the most delicious Sunday Lunch here! Food and drinks both amazin, but Shiloe’s service was a class above.

Not your typical English pub - menu is a little more adventurous but it's the outside seating area that's a real winner here.

Worst manager I’ve ever come across. So rude to the customers. I never write reviews but so shocked at how awful they were.

Having visited several times since the reopening, I can say with confidence these people care!! I have yet to find a pub which follows the guidelines like this one whilst being friendly and accommodating. I was shocked to read the other reviews on here. I came to shout about the exceptional service we received yesterday. We were informed by the lady who greeted us she was alone and apologised in advance if service was a little slower. We would’ve never known had she not told us. Service was impeccable. I’m already planning my next visit.

The staff here were really great but clearly struggling due to lack of colleagues to help out - management clearly need to add more staff and let the garden open up. A perfectly good asset being wasted and countless people turned away because there aren’t enough staff!

My first visit to this pub which looks nice from the road but don't let this fool you. Also, as an experience after months in lockdown incredibly disappointed due to the unhelpfulness and unfriendilness of the staff. There was no good humoured atmosphere and the experience was to say the least gloomy - needless to say I won't be returning.

We visited the Alywyne Castle last night as a group of 4 (with a booking) on Tuesday 21st July for our first visit to a pub since the lifting of lockdown restrictions. Unfortunately it is easily the worst pub experience I have ever had!I completely understand that these are stressful and testing times for the hospitality industry and that businesses are trying to make amendments- but I have never encountered rudeness like we did on our visit last night. We had been eating dinner in a local restaurant and had been delayed getting the bill, meaning that we were around 10/15 minutes late for our table, we then waited at the seating station for another 5/10 minutes before we were seen by anyone. The woman who served us chastised us like naughty children for being late. She was rude, aggressive and very much seemed to want a reaction out of us. She told us extensively that after 10 minutes they give tables away for people ‘who are so extremely late’ but then conceded that actually our table was still available so she’d (very) reluctantly seat us. But not until we were given a long lecture about how we’d ‘lost 30 minutes from our time’. We weren’t the only people to be treated like this and we spoke with several other people who had encountered this particular member of staff- one of which actually left the pub without ordering anything as a result.Once our time slot was done we were chased out by the same member of staff with our bill (10 minutes early) and made to feel extremely unwelcome despite spending a considerable amount on a couple of rounds of drinks! It’s worth saying there was a male employee in a denim shirt who was lovely but he was very much let down by his brunette female colleague on this evening.The whole experience completely ruined our night. We’re in our 30s and to be treated like naughty school children and spoken to with the level of distain this woman displayed is really unacceptable. We live locally but won’t be coming back to the Alwyne Castle which is a real shame. I sincerely hope some lessons are learnt in customer service and other people are able to enjoy a better evening than we did!

The staff are very friendly and accommodating. This was my first visit and they took me through the menu, giving me recommendations along the way! The young lady even knew which drinks were vegan and gluten free! Amazing service! I will be back.

There was a thief in the restaurant area and our mobile phone was stolen in their premises (I couldn't see any security). The restaurant manager (with dark hair) was not interested. She even complained that we used their phone to call the police..

Made a last minute booking for a Sunday roast with family today and had one of the best roast dinners I’ve had outside of our own home cooked. Place was fairly quite but service was great....would definitely go again 😀

Cold soup, rubbery beef, cold Xmas pudding,terrible service, unusable toilets and a broken coffee machine. I have no more words.

Fui a reunirme con amigos para tomar unas copas navideñas y comí algo. . .Para ser sincero, el pub está bien para tomar una copa, pero la comida es muy pobre y solo da una palmada. . .Tenía un tazón nutritivo y (a) era muy pequeño, (be) carecía de sabores y condimentos, (c) se suponía que nutría, pero de hecho venía con una conferencia marchita y brócoli quemado (obtengo que la lechuga estaba encima de tibia comida, pero debería haber salido fresca), (d) las pocas semillas de granada que había no eran frescas. También fueron las 11, lo que fue sorprendente dada la falta de algo que entrara. . . . fue completamente decepcionante.También habíamos horneado Camembert que, por el momento, estaba bien hecho, pero literalmente venía con cuatro trozos de pan y unos dos palitos de apio. . . .Iría a tomar una copa pero no por la comida completamente decepcionante. . .

Decidimos darle otra oportunidad a este pub a pesar de no tener la mejor experiencia en nuestra primera visita. Es cierto que fue una semana tranquila cuando visitamos en esta ocasión, pero la experiencia en general fue mucho mejor. La comida llegó rápidamente, tuve una hamburguesa que era de buen tamaño y bien preparada.

Met my cousin here for food at the weekend. It was my first time there, though he's been there a lot in the past. The food was delish - he had a nut roast, I had the cheeseburger. Looking forward to trying it out again.

Eftersom vi är Arsenalfans brukar vi gå till Arsenalpubar och äta lunch innan matchen. Vi hade tänkt att vi skulle prova något nytt och hamnade därför här. Så gott! Jag tog bästa burgaren i London och de andra var också nöjda. Det är inte så trångt på den här puben som det kan vara på andra Arsenalpubar. Det finns en trädgård att äta grill i också. Och ett orangeri om man firar något. Rolig ny bekantskap!

Went here for a leaving do with a large group from work. There was lots of seating outside and the weather was lovely. Good selection of food and drink for a casual get together. The bar service was extremely slow though. For the size of the outdoor area it was a disaster having just two bar staff inside, a minimum of five staff really was needed to keep the flow. Were enjoyed ourselves and stayed quite late before moving on to another pub for a dance.

I can relate to Alessia Review below. This is a girl called Kayleigh Cogley who serves customers, speaks down to them and flickers her eyes while speaking to you. Kayleigh is the most rudeness person you can come across in hospitality and will ruin your pub experience At The Alwyne Castle. She talks to as if you are a child , talks down and makes you feel like it’s your fault.

Came to the pub for some drinks with my friends and naturally came here because we used to drink here all the time and have always had a nice experience but unfortunately this time didn’t go so well.

Era noche de hamburguesas la noche que visitamos y había una gran hamburguesa alternativa de carne en el menú, que definitivamente vale la pena probar. El pub no estaba ocupado, pero el servicio aún era un poco lento. Le tomó un tiempo a alguien tomar nuestro pedido. El lugar en sí es espacioso y tiene un ambiente acogedor. Está convenientemente ubicado cerca de la estación de Highbury e Islington.

Can’t beat a good local. And The Alwyne is exactly that. Though I’m sure it’s a destination for many.

Acabo de celebrar mis papás 50 cumpleaños aquí que organizé. Después de buscar en un lugar alto y bajo, encontré el castillo de Alwyne. Este lugar se destacó de inmediato para mí, no solo por la hermosa área rústica del conservatorio, sino también por la gerente de eventos Lea, que fue absolutamente increíble de principio a fin. Planear una fiesta puede ser bastante estresante, pero mis millones de preguntas fueron respondidas siempre con prontitud y en detalle, y nunca se me hizo sentir que la estaba acosando. Todo el proceso de reserva y organización fue sorprendentemente agradable y fácil, y todas mis solicitudes se cumplieron sin problemas.

Estuve aquí el 4 de junio con un amigo mío cuando estaba en la zona. Tenía el pescado y las patatas fritas. El pescado era absolutamente delicioso y las patatas fritas estaban perfectamente hechas. Mi amigo pidió la hamburguesa y me encantó. El servicio era muy bueno también, el personal era amable y todo llegó a su debido tiempo. Definitivamente iría de nuevo.

Had a family get together here at the weekend, There were 24 of us , including babies, and the conservatory was a perfect fit.

Booked lunch for 1.30 prior to the Arsenal match at 4. Drinks and food order taken promptly. We waited and waited until 3 pm to get any food! Complained twice for delay. Food eventually arrived.Dumped with no asking if we needed anything else. I would have liked mince sauce!!

Chosen for family reunion as we knew there would be enough space for us all. Didn't eat, just had drinks. All ok.

This used to be a lovely pub - it still has a nice atmosphere and a decent selection of beers so well worth a visit if it’s just for a drink.

Came to the Alwyne with some friends for lunch. Food was gorgeous and staff were welcoming, polite and very helpful.

Food warm not hot and one meal over cooked.

We hired the conservatory for our wedding party on Saturday and we had the best time. The food was delicious, the staff excellent and the conservatory the dream setting for our little wedding party.

Terrible service. The waitress had no idea what was going on. We ordered a Sunday dinner to find they had run out but they served the chicken anyway with no veg or potatoes. Took forever to get served. Total disaster end to end.

Three of us had dinner here recently.

We booked this place based on Tripadvisor reviews. Sadly it was chaotic. The staff are massively under resourced and out of their depth. They meant well but were woefully struggling with Christmas parties. We were gutted. We had booked our Christmas party for dinner. We waited and waited for ages with no service. Our starters finally arrived with some of our mains. One person went without his food altogether. The kitchen had forgotten to cook his meal - swamped I suppose We ended up having s huge upsetting noisy row with the staff who were stressed and angry. The manager offered us free drinks to apologise and knocked the food off the bill, which was the right thing to do. But the dinner was a joke, we went home hungry and will never eat here again. Must do better!

He probado este pub con mi familia para un almuerzo tarde de sábado. Mi esposa pidió el plato principal y me preguntó si pedir el postre en uno o después tuvimos el plato principal. La camarera aconsejó pedir el postre en un pedido separado, después de que teníamos el principal.

Tuvimos una decepcionante experiencia de comida de domingo en el castillo de Alwyne. Reservamos una mesa de 6 para las 4 pm y de inmediato nos dijeron que se habían vendido fuera de los asados. Cuando eso es lo que viniste es muy decepcionante. El servicio también fue muy impredecible.

Sorprendido por la baja calificación de este pub / restaurante ya que teníamos una excelente comida, el personal fue amable y eficiente e incluso trajo un cuenco de agua para nuestro perro. No habíamos hecho una reserva y estaba lleno cuando llegamos, pero nos dieron una agradable bienvenida, sonrisas y después de un par de malabares de reservas pronto nos encontraron una mesa. La comida era muy buena, todos teníamos un solomillo asado de ternera con verduras, papas, etc. Los precios que percibimos eran razonables, unos 15 para los platos principales y una buena botella de Shiraz por 20, precios razonables para Londres, sin duda alguna. El ambiente en el pub es agradable y nos trasladamos después de nuestra comida a un lugar encantador frente a la chimenea.

Tuve una gran noche Entré para tomar una copa y me quedé para una prueba de pub! Llegamos los últimos pero tuvimos una noche de craqueo. El personal es amable y el servicio de primera clase! Tenía un plato de compartir que fue fantástico.

We went for Sunday lunch and the roasts were amazing, we had a sharing one between two with all the meats and so many sides, was perfectly!

I’ve only given it an extra star due to the location and nice outside area. The staff here are extremely poor at their job, you’ll be waiting at the bar a while even if the pub isn’t that busy and the staff don’t clock the order of the customers coming up to the bar. The food is fairly poor, it arrives lukewarm. It’s a shame it’s not managed well as it’s a nice building with a great location...

Par cette très belle journée londonienne, l endroit est parfait. Vrai pub anglais, on peut y boire ou y manger en continue. Super burger. Aubergines avec des épinards- un peu spécial , servi avec un riz et une sauce un peu sucrée très relevée (j ai aimé ). Splendide pudding ! Je recommande

Vinimos aquí antes del partido arsenal, en un concurrido Sábado lluvioso donde todos los pubs estaban llenos hasta dos horas antes de la patada, este lugar estaba muy lleno, pero tuvimos la suerte de conseguir una mesa. El personal tengo que decir que el personal era muy amable y trabajando muy duro.

We have tried many places for Sunday Roast & this place has been the best so far. Great value for money & staff very friendly too. Highly recommend

Been here a couple of times on a Sunday to eat, the last time with a cousin and his girl which was fantastic, today just my little family unit, just a really good pub with good food , a nice ambience and tonight a great playlist. Not grand but what I think a pub should be, the staff are lovely. Go .

La comida estaba bien, pero nada especial para lo que pagamos y el personal estaban fuera de sus pies, así que tuve que mantener un tiempo de espera para tomar una copa o cualquier atención. No me volvería a reservar la cena de Navidad aquí de nuevo pero para comer o beber en cualquier otra época del año

El proceso de reserva era un trabajo duro; fuimos a pagar el depósito y los chicos detrás del bar parecía que nunca había utilizado un hasta antes. Cuando llegamos para Navidad reserva la mesa no era con decoraciones de navidad. No sirven de Jerez, incluso aunque su Navidad. La camarera era encantadora y trató de hacer lo mejor, pero no sabía las bebidas del bar, cervezas, etc. La comida era buena, pero no en la flexibilidad como postres queríamos cambiar uno de ellos, sólo cambiaría si la teníamos justo después. Queríamos esperar 20 minutos.

Atmosphere was great. Staff were friendly Enjoyed my meal and good value for money - would recommend

The Alwyne Castle was our boxing day place for a meal with the family. Its a friendly pub with an outside area with tables and chairs. The service is fairly quick, the food is very hot and very tasty and the price is affordable. We had the starters of BBQ fried chicken wings which are very tasty and the fish and chips which is also very good. Well worth the visit and easy to travel to by metro and in walking distance from Islington Angel.

Un salto aquí de camino a casa del trabajo para conseguir algo de comer. El chico detrás de la barra, claramente no quería estar allí. ¿Por qué trabajar en la industria pub si eres un gruñón. La única razón por la que no nos deje fue porque teníamos hambre y no podían afrontar tratando de encontrar otro lugar. Pedir sin queso coliflor, ¿por qué no entrar a Sainsbury's y comprar algunas coliflores? En vez de hacer una noche de ella nos fuimos después de la comida. Fue una pena como el resto del personal fue amable, pero el contacto inicial era tan pobre. La comida estaba bien.

Alquilamos el Conservatorio para fiesta 90 cumpleaños de mi madre con unos 30 clientes. El buffet tenía mejor que la media para un buffet pub variedad, la comida era de nivel alto y excelente precio. Hay un montón de gente en el partido comentábamos lo bueno que era. El servicio era excelente y sensible, y en general, una muy buena experiencia. Gracias a todo el personal involucrado.

Have visited this pub many times during the 8 years I've lived in London, and it's still a great place for a drink, but things seem to have gone awry with the service and the food. Went here for a Christmas meal with friends and had to wait an hour and a half for our not-very-inspiring food, meals came out at different times, and a couple of staff seem to have a bit of an attitude problem. Manager did his best to put things right and gave us money off our bill, but the issue seemed to be that they'd taken too many large group bookings which the kitchen was unable to handle. Would think twice before eating here again.

Sólo quería darle las gracias a usted y a su personal por ser tan servicial y la comida era absolutamente increíble! Pasé mi cumpleaños el verano aquí, también había convencido a un amigo tienen su comida de cumpleaños en febrero, así que ya sabía que iba a ser increíble. Pensé que podría haber sido complicado con 20 + clientes pero lo que un gran sistema. La comida era fantástica, y todo el mundo estaba muy contento. Teníamos un vegetariano también clientes que había un menú de Navidad vegetariano!

The Alwyne attracts a quite young crowd, sadly this does not describe me, however I find it a very pleasant local, for a modern pub it feels very pub like, the staff are very cheery, it has a good ambience about it, which for me goes a very long way .

Had family meal booked for a Sunday lunch, phoned to change the time and was told no problem. Arrived to found out they messed the booking up. Family traveled from abroad, not impressed. this is my local but has gone down hill recently. They seem to employ teenagagers who dont have a clue. They offered us free drinks and then gave us what I can only assume was vinegar pretending to be wine. There are loads of good pubs in the area, this isn't one of them.

Awful service with awful staff. It was literally like they didn't care that they were offering a service to people. Find a better place to go.

The food is terrible - we had the burger and the beetroot tart and both were horrible. Standards in London are quite high and both meals were really poor quality. The tart was served minutes after ordering and was chunks of beetroot on filo pastry. Burger really dull.

Went for a family meal on Sunday and ordered roast dinners , The beef roast defiantly resembles how a true British roast should be!! Really yummy and great service from the pub especially Cory who served our meals.

More staff than customers!! Great attentive service as we got there early for Sunday lunch. Whilst it filled up with plenty of tables taken our service levels did not drop. Good lunch, well cooked with great roast and Yorkshires.

Lovely service and atmosphere but stay well clear of the food.We had a beef pie and a beetroot tart. They were both so bland and uninspiring, it is not acceptable to charge for this food! I could make both better myself at home.This place desperately needs an overhaul in the kitchen.

There was one person working behind the bar, one person! The pub was extremely busty. The service was so slow. If it wasn't for the queueing etiquette of the the customers, I wouldn't have been served at all. The Alwyne Castle has the potential to be one of the best pubs in London, but it's almost like they've given up. It seems like they are making so much money from overpriced craft ales and beers, that the notion of providing a timely service has disappeared. Very disappointed.
