The Alma in Dover

Absolutely fabulous place with great staff and brilliant new managers! We had a school reunion in the function show room and it was perfect! The managers bent over backwards for us and were so helpful . Drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is great! I would definitely recommend.

Just had 🍺, beer was good Service was excellent atmosphere was good. Great venue for private functions also good for watching all sports.

We booked the function room for a 30th Birthday Party, despite the new owners taking over between the booking and the party, they confirmed it could all still go ahead. They helped with everything, from entertainment to catering and decoration! The staff were great and very helpful, and the party went off without a hiccup! Can't thank the Alma enough!

Rose, is the best bar maid ever!

Popped in on the off chance . Served quickly , and politely. Thats where it finishes. Thrown abuse at by a "customer" local who took offence at strangers in there . Best thing to do drink up and walk out . Shame as we were set to have quite a few in there. Their loss , other pubs gain .

Empty on a Saturday afternoon with music blaring out. Barmaid inappropriately dressed, she looked like she was about to go out to a nightclub in Ibiza.

First time I've been here since Hayley left & the pub is so much better now. Will be back soon

Just wanted to say a special thank you to the Alma for doing a buffet for my dad's wake. I was truly amazed what they managed to pull together. They were attentive, and patiently waited. Thanks so much guys. Made a sad day more bearable and all the food looked great aside the amazing cake my friend Elaine made. Just a really special day. ❤️

Always had a lovely Sunday Lunch with my church. They catered for us well, definitely going to miss the old chef. Hope The Alma can pull though. Currently they arn't doing any food as the chef/manger left

Lovely pub. Incredible transformation from what it was like when I was a child. A really nice, well decorated modern bar at the front, lots of space out the back. A whole range of pub games to play. Friendly staff.

Lovely staff very friendly and accomadating. My husband and I booked a Sunday roast at the Alma, the meal was nice and there was a choice to have a large plate which was great. The dining area was very spacious and clean we had a lovely pint of lager and lime to wash down our meals. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was looking forward to the Cauliflour cheese but there wasn't any left and the meats would of been nice if they were hot. Although we did get there for their last sitting so I guess the meats had lost their heat. Everything else was a good temperature and the gammon was lovely.

Went on Sunday 29 and had an amazing prawn cocktail starter, compliments to the chef! All staff were helpful and friendly, it was overall a lovely experience. Would highly recommend for a nice day out :))

What a change in such a short period of time! Friday 30 July 21 was Quiz Night. Had a fantastic time with friends, and excellent food. All mature customers and simply a pleasant evening with friends. Sarah, the new manager has listened to locals and work hard to turn this around. Thank you, Sarah. There was no trouble, but a lot of fun. A huge thank you to Sarah and her staff. Trish, it's great to see you behind the bar. I think the local community now has a real chance to reclaim the bar. As the sign on the board outside the Alma reads, 'Your Friendly Local'.

Lovely service meat looked lovely but was carved way to thick, veg could have been warmer. They did try hard to meet our needs though, very happy with the service.

Amazing staff and Landlady along with good food and drink. Highly recommend the roast. You will leave with a smile and full tummy.

New management and a great start. 10 days of ownership. New chef who makes things like scotch eggs by hand. No commercial food served. Had a great evening of darts with the locals and landlady. Give her your support and encourage a great venue with lots of ideas. New start up give her your support.

People in here are great....very friendly!

The bar is cute and the music fab. I did not like catering at all. If you want solid food with no surprised then its fine but as a gluten free, dairy free, mainly meat free person, I did do well. They weren't keen on helping me much either. I frankly was disappointing. For a place to met for a drink and get to know the locals its fine.

Great atmosphere with live music from group called Memory Lane. Two excellent bar staff did a fantastic job ensuring no waited long. Very friendly and reasonably priced bar prices.

Exceptionally expensive, seriously dated and worn out feel, whole place needs freshening up and it may be nice. Doesn't help that the landlady is always drunk

As ever a REAL pub. Good beer. Great host. Lovely atmosphere. Thankfully short of DFL's. Do try the Sunday lunch. I feel best value in Deal.

We we're visiting the Alma to watch the football, good clear screen no problem watching the game, and the beer was also good,

A traditional pub, complete with Open Mic nights etc. Good beers. Friendly staff and customers. They also have a large "back room", which hosts a Blues Night on the second Thursday of the month, amongst other things. Well recommended if you are looking a proper old pub.

Great pub , great landlord and staff. The sausage and chips are to die for , just what you need after a session on the dartboard .
