First class service. The new pilsner battered haddock and chips were about the best I’ve tasted in London and the sticky toffee pudding is a firm favourite of mine. We are very lucky to have such a consistently good local pub.

Just had a lovely roast dinner at The Alliance... pork belly. Hadn't been for a while and got the most warmest of welcomes from Paulo and Alex. They are always so lovely whenever my friends and I have visited, so highly recommend. And dog friendly too. Thank you guys! 😊 Oh... and the best chips 🍟 😋

We are frequent visitors to our new look local pub and consider it to be a real asset to the local community. The weekday menu is relatively limited but the dishes on offer are consistently of a high quality and well executed. The daily specials add some variety too. Sunday lunch is absolutely sublime, with the roast beef being my personal favourite, and again, good attention to detail is shown with the quality of what arrives on your plate. Staffing levels are more than adequate, with people constantly asking us if everything is okay, would we like another drink, etc, and the atmosphere is always convivial, light and airy. Love it! 👍🏻

Come back, Michael. All is forgiven!! This was our first visit since the change of hands. It was, very probably, also our last. It would appear that all of the starters were bought in fully prepared as were some of the main courses. They were unappealing. The beef, which was quite delicious under the previous regime was as tough as old boots. All in all, a very disappointing meal. Oh! And the “half pint of whitebait” was served in a half-pint glass but it was nowhere near a half pint of fish!

Incredible Sunday Roast, one of the best pub roasts I’ve ever had! Service excellent and the decor is stunning. Great selection of wines and beers, we will be back for sure!

The menu selection was excellent. We had eggs Benedict and it was delicious. Two eggs with bacon on two buns. Eggs cooked to perfection. For dessert we had a tiramisu and a sticky plum pudding... Wow. Definitely going back. The staff were so friendly too.

Visited on Tuesday eve. Excellent menu, really good food and great selection of drinks. Lovely staff on the whole - 2 great waitresses, tall woman with glasses and another lovely woman with dark hair - but the waiter who I think k was behind the bar came off as disinterested and too cool for school.

I had Sunday lunch here last week, an impromptu decision, and it was great. My Vegetarian Sunday roast was excellent, came with all the trimmings and as a very generous portion. My dining companion had fish and chips which he was equally happy with. We will certainly be back.

This pub has amazing food and excellent service. We were served immediately and food arrived quickly and was hot, delicious and generous. It was clean and we were even given real fabric serviettes and finger bowls. We wondered why, on the two occasions we visited , it was empty, until we received the bill. We only ordered the mussels, with chips, complimented with two glasses of wine and a fruit juice, which was £60, together with a compulsory service charge of 12%. Compare this to Wetherspoons, further away from my location, where a Gourmet steak meal for four costs under £55 with drinks. Pity, because The Alliance Pub would be a favourite for so many living in the area, but the cost is a real downer.

This was the best pub a while ago - it isn’t - waited 10 mins at the bar and not even a glance. Shame - it was great!

Excellent burger, quality ingredients. The only flaw was that it fell apart a bit, I had to eat it with cutlery.

Terrible service on Saturday 15th March. I went for a birthday lunch and arrived early so went to the bar for a drink. There were 4 members of staff behind the bar chatting amongst themselves / seemingly doing non-important tasks like rearranging glasses. I waited for at least 3 minutes whilst being ignored before I said 'excuse me is anyone actually going to serve me?' and I was met with a quick witted rude remark 'in a minute'. When we sat down for our food we ordered drinks with the waiter and then 30 seconds later a second waiter came over to take our drinks order - we explained we had just ordered them and he snapped back in a sarcastic tone 'well i'm the one with the iPad'. They were playing football on the large screen at maximum volume so it was almost impossible to hear each other, we kindly asked if they could turn it down and he said it wasn't possible. 20 minutes later we asked someone else and she literally just turned it off by the plug. When the food arrive (I ordered a soft shell crab burger) it was very disappointing. A small plate with a burger similar to McDonalds and nothing like soft shell more like an overcooked fried and dry burger with chewy bits and lacking any flavour - it was inedible and after 2 bites it had to be sent back to the kitchen. The location is good and the venue building is nice but the staff are completely disinterested and some of them should not be working in hospitality if they cannot smile or deal with complaints in a professional manner. I would not recommend this venue and will not be going back.

This bar is ideally positioned for anyone living, working, or commuting near Great Portland Street. Modern spacious bar with outside seating. Pleased to say the service has massively improved from the below 3 years ago! I arrived here on a Thursday night, which was busy (Thursday is the new Friday!) but the staff were not able to cope. Not sure if short staffed or lack of training but either way there was a long wait for drinks. Manager was very apologetic.

We went for breakfast after a busy weekend. Well priced for spoons in London. Was busy with it being Mothers Day but drinks and food arrived quickly. Staff were friendly, and cleared plates away quickly when we were finished. Toilets were clean. Thanks for a good experience.
