The reality of having to leave the establishment for the fact of not being able to order a drink for more than half an hour at a non-manned bar, is unfortunate all in of itself. Which is a shame as the atmosphere and the actual taste of the creatively presented cocktails is superb. But no matter those two things, it really doesn't matter if you can't order anything. And no, the bar was not busy or packed. At around 4pm on a Saturday evening, it was only a few people at the bar area at any time. And even those patrons, me and my partner included, would not get served when sitting or even approaching the bar, as there was simply no bartender. In the end, we decided to go to another establishment after only 1 drink each, when we planed to at least have 4-5.

Stopped in for a smokey old fashioned after work and stayed for the spicy chicken sandwich. Niiiice! Service and food were impeccable!

El agua solicitada no llegó. Las bebidas tardaron una eternidad (nótese cuando llegamos y pedimos el lugar estaba prácticamente vacío) persiguió a las bebidas para que le dijeran barman en su descanso y luego el camarero se olvidó de nuevo de pedir la bebida. Francamente por los precios un servicio y experiencia muy pobre. Camarero lleno de sí mismo, confiado pero simplemente no podía entregar ningún servicio. Fiestas más grandes habían llegado después de nosotros y sospecho que consiguieron el foco y sufrimos. Nos quejamos. Ofrecí un 10 % de descuento en la tubería retrasada. Sinceramente, evitaría especialmente la hora del almuerzo del sábado y si eres una fiesta de solo 2 probablemente sufrirás como nosotros.

Great experience, great place, for sure a place to visit

If you are gluten free or Celiac, then do not eat here! All three servers we were met with were unable to assist with the matter or confirm the food items to be free of gluten. As a result, I am now stuck home sick on my birthday from likely gluten contamination. I would stay away if you have any sensitivities or allergies.

Went here 12/12/25 four of us for my brother-in-laws birthday. Was very disappointed as staff looked uninterested. We all ordered a cocktail. We were not sure what we should order . Got told the ones with the dry ice symbol were the more theatrical. So ordered, all got put on bar we took back to table without any instructions and basically hoped for the best. I couldn’t make head nor tail how to even drink mine 😂. Thought the least they could do was to bring to the table and show us what to do with mixing etc So personally was the least theatrical expensive cocktail have ever had . So sorry was not impressed.

Empty bar but no service. Had to go looking for the bartender who definitely looked like he wanted to be at home. Spent $29 quid on two drinks, forced to make tip to move forward with purchase before we got the drinks. Wilted (actually dead) mint garnish. Also, the benefit of wireless charges at the tables no good as they did not work. Terrible experience... do not recommend.

Although it is delicious, they are very slow and the atmosphere is not what you would expect from the description.

Was in the ladies toilet. A young girl working behind the bar came out of the cubicle and failed to wash her hands. She went straight upstairs and appeared behind the bar. Yuk. The service was good and attentive but I hate poor hygiene. Its basics.

We were really disappointing by the food. Yes we are tourists but spent a lot of time around London trying a lot of restaurants at similar price points and here the balance is was just off. Maybe it is us. But the duck pancakes involved no pancakes. It was dry duck and a couple of sheets of rice paper. Like Asian duck tacos. The starter portions were really small. For the pulled beef brioche it was more like a small brioche cracker. The bao buns were a bit dry. The best items were the truffle gravy and the cabbage from the sides menu. Out server was really friendly!

We have wined and dined here a number of times in the past. Never disappoints and will continue to re-visit whenever we are in the area.

In over 9 years of scouting London, I received the absolute most impeccable, elegant service I encountered anywhere around the city (pub or restaurant). It's the only pub/restaurant I frequently visit. The staff (waiters, managers, hosts) were always incredibly hospitable, kind, welcoming and attentive. With my utmost pleasure I'd like to send a big shoutout to Mr. Seb, part of Alchemist Team, an absolute gentleman, with a talented eye for customer's tastes, needs and character - even when they don't know what they want, he knows! Always with a real smile on his face and a warm energy. Magic, he is. Regarding how I'm feeling in the place - treated like a King. Didn't matter if I wore a shirt or my "Possessed" jumper, felt no judgement, service was the same. Their Menu - I lack imagination and vocabulary to properly describe how much I enjoy the drinks (I only have virgin/alcohol free) and their foods. Absolutely everything screams quality, refinement, class, elegance, fun, creativeness. Everything you eat and drink is an experience, a joy. The place itself is a piece of art, the music, the artwork on walls, the crowd. Today I had a starter with pulled beef which blew my mind on how tasty it was and how much beef it had! Furthermore, I found a card on a table saying they donate £1 for charity from each bill (for a limited time, different charity every year) and also stating that they'll remove it if any customer wishes so. Absolutely heart warming gesture of kindness. They do have a couple of venues in London. This one has a special place in my heart. I wish they had an "Alchemist Gym" too but, I guess that's for someone else to get done :). With gratitude and Love, Hellfire.

I booked this place a few months ago for a large group. I wasn’t impressed by the area we were given for the size of our group but we made do. The drinks were nice and the bar staff were great. The music was a bit loud but I’d recommend it for a drink or two in the evening with some friends. Our bill was wrong when we went to pay but the staff were super helpful and removed the drinks we did not have. I did notice later that there were some guys that added to our tab and were drinking the same drinks we asked the bar to take off our bill. I didn’t notice this at the time and it was too crowded for the staff to be able to differentiate between the different groups of people but I’d defo check the bill before you pay in case this happens again! Also, I have to say the hard peach ice tea was a really nice drink and it looked pretty cool too!

Lovely Luigi! We were served by Luigi on Friday night, and he was amazing! He was so personable and happy, and made us all smile when he served us. His personality shone through, and he really made the evening memorable, thank you so much!

I was recommended to visit The Alchemist Bevis Marks, and I'm so glad my colleagues and I chose it for our first time. From the moment we stepped in, the service was exceptional – 5-star all the way. The food was not only beautifully presented but also delicious, and the servers were friendly, engaging, and always smiling. They answered all our questions and even suggested great alternatives due to a food allergy. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and my colleagues had a fantastic time, which was exactly what I wanted after organizing the lunch. It was wonderful to bond over a drink 🍸 and see everyone enjoying themselves. I would definitely recommend The Alchemist and will certainly be returning.

Lovely place for cocktails in the city

We went to this bar with the enthusiasm of those expecting to drink a memorable molecular cocktail. The place is nice, the atmosphere elegant, but unfortunately the protagonist of the evening - the cocktail - was a sensational flop. The presentation? Pretty simple, nothing special. A little dry ice isn't enough to make a scene... And what about the taste? Bland and characterless. Not to mention the alcohol level: practically non-existent. I certainly wasn't looking for a cocktail that would knock me out, but at least something that stood out in the glass. Instead, it felt more like a soft drink disguised as luxury. And then, no table service: we had to go and get the cocktail ourselves at the counter. It's not a problem in itself, but for the prices and expectations a little more attention wouldn't have hurt. In short, a place with potential, but if the cocktail is the star, it didn't even pass the test here.

Nice place with stylish design and great service. Drinks were certainly good but not great. You won't regret the visit but if you're looking for top-level cocktails you may leave slightly disappointed.

A huge thank you to India and the team for going 'above and beyond' when hosting 50+ guests at Alchemist Bevis Marks earlier in the month. From the initial booking handled by India, through to the service on the night, the entire experience offered us true 'peace of mind' that our requests would be taken care of - nothing was too much to ask and we are already looking for an excuse to entertain guests here again - thank you so much!

I recently visited this restaurant where I had some drinks , everything was wonderful especially a lovely young lady with long hair who escorted me to my table. Def will come again

I visited during their open bar at night, so you can seat yourself, which is nice. Prices are on the higher end, but the quality of the food and drinks makes it worth it. The tempura prawn lollipops were great—the breading had the right amount of crunch and paired perfectly with the sweet chili dip. The salt and shake potatoes were just okay, not too crunchy and lacking salt, so I’d probably skip those next time. The Bubblebath drink was fun and not too strong. Service was amazing—super friendly and polite. The ambience and decor are really nice, and the liquor display by the bar is especially cool. Overall, a great spot for a night out!

All about theatre and not about taste. This is all about Instagram cocktails, two sweet, not well balanced. I like a nice cocktail so not for me, but if you want a nice picture - worth a visit.

The food (Steak & Crispy Chicken Basket) was excellent, the service was very attentive and friendly. Good (manageable) selection of wine and cocktails, the latter of which is particularly noteworthy due to the great presentation. Depending on the cocktail, it steams or bubbles like in chemistry class. The desserts were also excellent and super tasty. The toilets were clean. It's best to reserve in advance.

I mostly come here on business. And that's a mistake because the wine list and the food, from snacks to meals, is great. It gets busy and the service can dip when it does. But otherwise it is fab. Great interior and atmosphere.

They're a bar, and a restaurant, all at the same time. We chanced upon them while bar hopping around London one weekend evening, and was attracted by the DJ playing some sick beats. Wasn't disappointed, especially with the many different types of fancy looking cocktails that they serve here. Prices are on the higher side, but if you're getting a drink or two, it's still very enjoyable. Got a smokey old fashioned, and went on to another bar after. I must admit, this place was definitely the highlight and the peak of the many bars we visited that evening; everything went downhill from here after.

El gerente vino de inmediato para resolver la situación (lo que hizo 10 - fold ! Gracias de nuevo). No solo eso, el servidor mismo podría haber desarrollado una actitud, pero no lo hizo, simplemente continuó sirviendo con una sonrisa. Siempre digo que los problemas siempre pueden ocurrir, pero es cómo la gente aborda la resolución lo que marca la diferencia y este equipo fue A*. Zero sense of management. You have Bar area where loud music is fine and appropriate, but in the dining area it is very,very stupid to make the music so loud that people have to shout like crazy so they can hear eachother. All that on Wednesday, really?! I would like to be able to speak with clients next day as normal human being not like Dart Vader, thanks. Additionally, staff was walking like hit by a storm, disappointing really. Pitty, the place have potential for better

LOVE this place! Came here for brunch, and the food and drinks were so good. This place is on the pricier side but it’s worth it for the experience. The only issue we found was that we were sat far away from everyone else (which we loved) but we found it really hard to get the waiters attention.

had a great, delightful time at The Alchemist. One of my favorite books mind you! The food was delectable, the ambiance was a chill vibe, and the drinks were carefully curated with knowledgeable mixologist there to guide those who were faint of heart (not I). I particularly appreciated the spin on the oldies but goodies like the Smokey Old Fashioned… more then just adding some smoke into an old fashioned, the use of oak wood specifically and some finishes added gave this a slightly woody, slight honey flavored taste that was to die for!

Drinks and service were incredible. Our waiter was really kind and really knowledgeable. The food however was quite the disappointment. On the upper level of price classes and portions were very small. Additionally, there was a DJ in the bar area, which was quite cool, but made a relaxed dinner at the restaurant difficult. Even though the dining area is separated from the bar area, we could barely understand each other while sat on one table. Would have been nice to know in advance! Can 100% recommend for drinks but not for food :)

I'm not a fan of drinks, but I have to admit this place is great for what it proposed to be. Really fun and creative drinks with a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. We all had a great time.

The bartenders were extremely rude. They asked us for our order and once we actually put in the order, they rushed us out and claimed that others reserved the table after our stay rather than placing us in a place where we wouldn’t be rushed. Then, when the bartenders caused our delay, they rushed us out and blamed us rather than compensating us and allowing us to finish the drinks we paid for. Horrible service. Horrible place.

Food was good. Service was excellent and friendly. Nice place to eat and comfortable furniture. Well decorated and nice atmosphere. Feels more of an old world winter place to be though the front bar is quite modern.

The service and quality of the cocktail making was class. Had a hit and rum and it was made with huge skill. The taste didn’t disappoint either. Was an excellent cocktail. Cost £15 with tip. Enjoyed it and will return some time.

Food and cocktails weren’t good at all. Chicken genuinely tasted bitter to the point where I think it was expired, and waffles tasted of bread mould. Wait staff weren’t very attentive even though we were the only party in the entire place; they spent a lot of time chatting near the bar. Felt a bit like a slap in the face when our group was bringing them more than £1000…

Good cocktails great experience

An impromptu visit to London saw us stroll around Liverpool Street and come across this awesome place. Lovely atmosphere, great friendly staff, amazing food and magical cocktails. Stoyan was an amazing waiter and very knowledgable guy when it comes to the science behind the cocktails; all served in quirky drinks vessels. Well worth a visit if your in our around Liverpool Street.

The most unique and immersive cocktail bar I’ve been to. Daniel and Amalia are lovely people. The staff were passionate, professional and engaging, and the drinks were magnificent, for honest prices. 10/10, would recommend, a true experience!

Beautiful restaurant and very friendly staff, especially Seb our waiter who was very knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations. A shame it wasn't busier on the Saturday afternoon we went for lunch, it deserves to be. Imagine the terrace is a lovely spot when the weather is fine. We ordered main courses and a side, cocktails and wine, all lovely. Great location if you're visiting War of the Worlds Immersive.

We visited late on Monday, it was almost empty. Randomly picked several cocktails. All turned up to provide great experience - from watching/participating preparation, to look and taste.

Super place! Been here twice and both experiences were so fun. Late afternoon - amazing attentive bartender, super friendly and caring. Had multiple cocktail shows ranging from smoke, fire and bubbles. Although the bar was busy with lots of people sitting around it and others coming to the bar to order, the guy with the tattoos - didn’t get his name but did an amazing job multi tasking!! Mid-day - Super chill vibe, bar area had a few people there and two people on the bar. we ordered a french kiss and brûlée cocktail (brûlée is a must try!) again bartenders were sweet and helpful - our food didn’t arrive quickly and was asked by the bartender if we’ve received it, we replied no - she did a quick check on it and let us know it’s on its way. Thank you to the lady for taking initiative rather than the customer having to ask!! The location is in a lovely area not too far from Liverpool station and it’s a fun experience - i’ll be back here definitely!

Just back from a birthday celebration at the Alchemist, Bevis Marks via Liverpool St Station. The staff were amazingly helpful, friendly and so knowledgeable. What a fantastic menu of expertly made cocktails. Each drink was explained to us by Stoyan & each one was amazing. Also a lovely young girl staff member....I'm so sorry we didn't get your name....helped us with our food & drinks choices. We were a party of 4 and each of our meal choices tasted fantastic, they were nicely presented and also great value. I don't always pay service charge because I like to tip where credit is due...we paid full service charge as the staff engaged with us and made for a wonderful experience. Thank you 😊

Pure cocktail drama. Was always a bit unsure of going in but it's great. The bar staff are top notch and the theatre of the cocktails is worth every penny.

This place is a beautiful spectacle, and absolutely in a good way. Their speciality is theatre and flair, labelling cocktails on their menu with an ‘eye’ symbol that are particularly eye-catching. The interior is beautiful and matches the name, exuding the atmosphere of the home of a mad-scientist turned cocktail maker. The cocktails are delicious and also reasonably priced for central London. I thoroughly recommend the ‘Lightbulb Moment’, ‘Pear Pressure’ and the ‘Dead Red Zombie’ cocktails in particular.

Hadn't been to this bar before but enjoyed it. The waitress was helpful and knowledgeable about the drinks. The drinks were fun and will go again.

I visited here on Saturday to celebrate a dear friends 60th birthday with five friends. The cocktails were amazing, the food was delicious,the service was prompt and friendly. But what a shame the whole time we were here, we could not hear each other speak due to the loud and heavy beat of awful dance music!!!!! I'm not a boring older person and fully understand the younger generations like of music. But in a " restaurant " this was totally unnecessary and totally spoilt our experience. Turn it down....let people speak, not shout at each other while they dine in such an otherwise wonderful venue..

Stoyan was so excited to have us there . He gave us such superb recommendations on drinks and it’s such a pleasure to visit and experience. Alchemist is always perfect for a rainy day or any day . Their cocktails to die for . The 1st thing we did after we landed to London . Go straight to Alchemist. Try Madhatters Tea and CosoOyester Cocktail Highly Recommended . 👍

Went for the theatre of the cocktails and were a little disappointed that the bar is hidden behind a screen (not as shown in website photos) so you only get to see what you have ordered but we were pleased with what we tried. we have several different cocktails and all were great fun but they are pricey. okay for a special treat... but not sure the experience lived up to our expectations. in summary - Staff okay, atmosphere just okay (a little dark to be honest) and cocktails fun but pricey. Would maybe try alchemist again but not this one.

Very cool cocktail bar with a huge selection of different creations that are not only damn tasty but in most cases also absolutely something to look at. The ambience is super nice and invites you to linger. Had dinner there once too, unfortunately the food was quite a disappointment compared to the cocktails. Very boring and at best average in terms of quality and taste.

Good Food, free sparkling water and good drinks. We like to come again, when London is calling. Perhaps I will visit Berlins Alchemist.

As usual the drinks and atmosphere at the Alchemist were excellent. Go to drinks were the caramelised jungle bird and breakfast manhattan (pipe dream was tasty but a little strong and didn't include the described cookie). Nibbles of nori crisps and hot honey popcorn were an excellent accompaniment. Definitely a reliable and enjoyable evening spot.

We had heard a lot about this chain and decided to go in for dinner. The place is huge and has a great atmosphere. The Alchemist is known for their eclectic collection of cocktails and they did not disappoint. They have a good collection of cocktails and their presentation is spot on. The food menu is not too bad but could have been better. And the food was nothing to rave about. My recommendation is to go to this place for the cocktails as they won’t disappoint

My cousin and I visited the Alchemist, Bevis Marks, 5th March 2024, I was raving about the cocktails, so she had look them up before we arrived. Food was lovely, we both had the smoking board, one chicken, one steak and shared, both were very good. Loved the cauliflower bites, nice and spicy. I had told her about the Hipflask Margarita, so we were Extremely disappointed when we were told there was no Margarita!!! Extremely puzzled!!

It was okay. I ordered the steak since I didn’t want the Christmas turkey, but the steak way too tough to eat. I didn’t bother requesting a new one as I was hungry at this point. It wasn’t worth the extra ££ to get the steak. For the turkey that my friends had, it was just fried turkey on a basket. Overall, the experience was very disappointing.
