The Albyn in Aberdeen City

Really smart place. Service slightly over attentive but not in a stuffy way. Food was well presented but didn't deliver the flavour I expected. Cocktails excellent. Child's menu available.

Amazing food and cocktails- all served in a beautiful environment!

Ordered the ‘three little pigs’. This consisted of pork cheek stuffed with stornoway black pudding and wrapped with Parma ham. The pork was so tough I couldn’t cut or eat. The black pudding wasn’t stornoway and the whole plate looked like a dogs dinner. No taste either of what I did manage to eat. Pudding chosen was the Rum baba and unfortunately this was stale, dry by and inedible. We got a “sorry about that” no money was taken off the bill. Very expensive meal that wasn’t enjoyed at all. Wouldn’t rush back!

Very well done. Still feels like The Albyn but fresh, modern and clean. Great service and superb food. Staff were polite and helpful. Great cocktails. Updated 15th Jan 2023. Menu has had a revamp and brought in some new offerings. Tartare was excellent, as was the Kedgeree. Service was varied depending on the member of staff serving.

All 7 of us enjoyed everything we ordered. The Highlander burger was especially good. I never order a burger but it sounded such a good combination. Would definitely come back especially to have it again. To top it off, really appreciated you acknowledging the birthday, a lovely surprise!

Nice bar. It was really busy with Christmas nights out, so it was understandably difficult to get everyone served in a timely manner. Staff did a good job though.

I've noted that the standard of service at the bar has dropped over the last year. Not always polite and poor housekeeping behind the bar which, to me, reflects on the professionalism. It used to be a lot better.

1st time in for about 15 years. Really nice with a fantastic atmosphere. Food & Service was great. Food Pictured, Korean Pork Belly, Chicken Tenders with garlic dip, and some pudding to finish..

Very nice place, decoration and food. I eat the best Roast beef Sunday dinner in all my life !!! You must try it, believe me !!

Bon bon starters were great, unfortunately the same can't be said for the veal and Linguine...2 words; dry, unedible! Rest of our table had different meals, all good, so maybe avoid the veal. Staff are fantastic wouldn't put me off returning, I'd just be a bit more selective of the main course.

Lovely bar and outside area but food really lets it down. Chicken was sold as being in a whiskey sauce but was more like a packet pepper sauce. Will not be eating there again.

Lovely restaurant, atmosphere was great and the food was absolutely fantastic! Only downside was service could’ve been better. Our mains were shoved in front of us whilst we were still eating starters, we weren’t offered a desert menu, 3 different servers came over one after the other and kept reminding us we only had our table for x amount of mins, which just made us feel we were being rushed. Overall the food and the atmosphere were brilliant I was just disappointed that we felt we were being rushed through our meal, however I would recommend and would absolutely go back.

You know when you go to a restaurant and everything you eat hits the spot? This was one of those experiences. Everything was well seasoned and full of flavour. The calamari was perfectly fried, to the point it wasn't greasy. The beef was soft, and the vegetables were well roasted. I got a generous serving of gravy, too. The dessert was so good I could have eaten another two, even though I was pretty full. Chocolate bread and butter pudding with a rich chocolate ice cream. 10/10 and 100/100 for me with that dessert! You must check this place out if you're nearby.

Very happy with our visit. We came for the first time to celebrate my friend’s birthday and all were so happy. The food was great, perfect sized portions and worth the value.

I had a lovely brunch with two of my bestfriends & I opted for a simple chicken and waffle and a mocktail. The meal was enjoyable, though I would have opted for thicker waffles. I also would have preferred the option to have my syrup on the side, allowing me to drizzle it as I like, instead of it being served already drizzled. The quantity of syrup provided was slightly excessive for my taste, but it wasn't the worst experience. Overall, the staff were pleasant and helpful. I’d definitely visit again!

We had dinner with our family from Aberdeen. First Aberdeen experience and we loved it. Nice food, friendly service. And beautifull deserts. We will come back here one day.

This place has closed. I booked on the last night unknowing - did not eat as choice was sandwich or maccaroni cheese. Left. Sadly it is for sale.

It has a very friendly atmosphere. We were there for lunch and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. As for the drinks, I ordered fresh orange juice and was very impressed that it came with fresh orange slices and ice. A small touch but very nice.

Very average food and quite a small plate of it. For a sunday roast you’d expect more than one slice of beef.

Quiet dining room when we went in, but it soon filled up. Waitress was working on her own for most of the time but coped really well. Try the rib eye skewer if you’re hungry! Steak was cooked perfectly

Lacking in atmosphere. Steak and Ale Pie didn&#039;t have very good meat and the meals were lukewarm. Disappointing.

Went here with the itison voucher on a Friday night. It was amazing value for money as the food was really tasty and good portions. The only problem was how quiet it was for a Friday night there was no atmosphere and the bar was dead. However would defo recommend for food

Popped into the Albyn last weekend for some birthday drinks. Lovely atmosphere good price and live music! Got some brilliant cocktails made by Abbie. Definitely will return.

Had a family lunch for 5 and our grandson. Pleasant surroundings for a family meal. The TV was on in the bar so were able to keep tabs on the rugby. Waiter and waitresses were attentive. We had a mix of meals 2 x sunday roasts, haddock, lamb, chicken and a childs scampi. All the meals were excellent with generous portions but we didn't leave enough room for dessert apart from grandson who polished off a sticky toffee pudding and said it was "delish" Thank you Albyn we had a great afternoon and will definitely return and maybe try the pensioners Saltire meals.

Had lunch here during the week - a bit formal to be honest. Food ok but service was quite slow and food took a wee while to come. Quite pricey also. Not sure I’d return.

I always forget to write a review of the Albyn. Living round the corner we are spoiled for choice but the Albyn never let's us down. They have had a difficult year and are currently for sale however don't let that put off. I had fish and chips and my wife had scampi. Both were delightful. With a bottle of wine and a couple of beers the bill was around £60. I'd rate as good quality and value. I've paid more for less in other near establishments. I have a table booked for mothers day with the family.

After hearing such great reviews and noticing a voucher on itison (for a Sunday roast) we were very excited for the meal however after waiting for 40 minutes for our food after ordering we were presented with a sloppy brown meal. My partners chicken had a long hair cooked onto it and the whole plate lacked any seasoning or taste in general. Extremely disappointed with the whole experience.

Last time we came for lunch was early 2016 and it was OK, I came into today and the food was out of this world. It was only fish and chips but WOW, you must have changes the chef for the better. Light crispy batter, beautifully cooked with mushy peas and thick home made chips. You couldn't get better from a fish shop. My wife had the Moroccan chicken last time we were there but it was not on the menu however it was no problem to make it for her. They even said that it was going on the next menu. To finish off we shared Sticky toffee pudding. It was soft and spongy, definitely homemade. It was delicious, then my wife saw that they were doing half price cocktails. We stayed for a few of those as they were so tasty. Everything about the Albyn was great, the atmosphere, the staff, the food, the cocktails even the floor looked new and shiny.

Lovely Sunday lunch with my family. Roast beef was beautiful, came with lovely roasties and Yorkshire pud. I personally would have enjoyed more vegetables. Overall excellent, I have bought another voucher to go again.

Excellent lunch for 5 friends. We had the Saltirecard menu which was very good value and had a wide variety of options on the menu. The portions were large for the main course but not so big for the starters. I will be back again and would recommend to all.

A very enjoyable evening with lovely food and good service.

Went in past the Albyn on Saturday and Monday with friends from America Seeing they have the live bands back on the Saturday evening meant we stayed the whole night.

Great food well prepared and served! Uncomplicated menu with the usual classics. Good well priced selection of wines beers and spirits. Live music in a convivial setting.

I was here on the 12/12/17 for an evening meal whilst in Aberdeen on business and I was totally impressed with the service and meal. The staff were all very polite and not hovering around your table they came to the table once you started your meal just to ask if everything was alright and then left until you had finished eating all this done with a smile. The food was excellent and I would highly recommend anyone to go here if you want a lovely meal in nice surroundings.

We had a most pleasant lunch served by a very nice waitress (Tammie was her name) who looked after us most efficiently. All five of us considered the food first class and it was followed by coffee and tablet All in all, a lovely pre Christmas get together.

In December, most restaurants are squeezing office parties into the available space. The Albyn is no exception but caters for large numbers well. It makes for a noisy lunch, but the food is good, wine ok and service excellent.

The restaurant was very quiet, with only 2 tables and us when we arrived. It was very clean and tidy and we received a friendly welcome. The staff were very polite and efficient. The haggis and black pudding was very good and the scampi was also good. I wouldn&#039;t hesitate to recommend Albyn to anyone, food was good, friendly staff and value for money. What more could you want. Overall, 4 out of 5 from me.

I’ve never had a bad word to say about the Albyn but it’s gone down hill badly. It lacks atmosphere and now that everyone has groupon, spree vouchers they obviously know this themselves so don’t care. Is it new management??

We have been here now on three separate occasions when in Aberdeen on business as recommended by the hotel and have received fabulous food and service. On our last two visits the restaurant has been quiet and I have no understanding of why, great value, great quality and the team really do go the extra mile. One group member is a Vegan and we could not see anything appropriate on the menu. We discussed with a member of the team, Lidia, who was looking after us and she came back from the kitchen with not 1 option but 4! It was so great we came back again the following day.

Excellent deal through Itison, great value for money and the quality of the food was superb. Service was a bit slow at times but nothing major and would recommend the location even without the Itison deal.

I bought a Groupon deal for lunch and a glass of wine for two.

Lovely lunch with friends to celebrate our friends engagement. The staff could not have been more helpful with the surprise cake and gifts. Only negative was the temperature for most of the time we were there, it was a little chilly but the heating kicked in and then it was fine.<br />Would return and recommend to friends.

Once was my favourite but really needs to be more customer focused now. Went for a meal on a Wednesday night when only another couple of tables occupied . I have a potato intolerance so asked if I could have sweet potato with mine instead of potato, the waitress said that wouldn’t be a problem but after going into kitchen I was told I could only have that if I paid the extra?? So I agreed but also asked what I would get instead of the potato as on the menu it states that there was alternative if anyone had an intolerance. What a carry on! we all know the price of a bit of sweet potato, just seems petty not giving the customer a small portion ( quarter of potato) maybe 50p worth. I was eventually given a small bowl of rice. The whole meal was lovely but would I go back when they grumble over such a small thing. Plus we ordered beer, bottle of wine and coffee, So wasn’t as if we weren’t spending money. There was a manageress on shift but she wasn’t interested. Someone needs to take charge of customer relations as customers aren’t queuing up. I wonder why????

The food was amazing aswell as the service provided by the staff on hand however the meal was let down by the continuous mic testing in the area we were sat in which was quiet disturbing. Great restaurant and would definitely recommend

Had a nice dinner, there was a group of us. We had to pre order which was a bit of a faff but the meal itself was lovely. Caprese salad to start was lovely and the chicken skewer main was nice.

Good portions of quality food at a fair price. <br />My partner requested an addition to his meal for a side which was not on the menu and this was provided at no extra cost.

This past weekend a large number of us visited the Albyn for a family get together. When we arrived we were acknowledge by the staff and they were very polite. The menu was filled with a great variety of dishes at a very reasonable price. The food was presented fantastically and cooked to perfection. I had the steak pie which consisted of succulent chunks of beef and a rich gravy, accompanied by fluffy potatoes and fresh delicious veg. Would highly recommend to all!

We’re regular visitors to the Albyn and we normal enjoy our meal but of late it’s been getting worse and we now decided to take our business elsewhere. On Saturday night we went for a few drinks and decided to eat when we asked for the menu the waitress seemed unhappy or put out that we’d asked. For starters I went for the mushrooms they were very salty and the cream sauce seemed watery. My friend had the haggis and thought the whiskey sauce lacked whiskey ( but she’s know to like a drink) for mains I had the prawn linguini and it was bland, very salty and the pasta was mush and for the price in general it was awful- I could have cooked better my friend had the Macaroni and this was our deal breaker because she compared it to tinned and thought tinned tasted better. It’s pasta and both dishes were awful. Like I say we go regular and maybe the kitchen were having a bad day but the lack of choice and dated menu we’ve decided to try new places

We visited the Albyn for a long awaited catch up with family. The starters (haggis Bon bons and Mussels) were absolutely fine, however the main courses were pretty poor. The meat was over salted and the peppercorn sauce tasted so sweet we suspected it may actually be toffee sauce! The sweet potato fries didn’t arrive and the white wine tasted like vinegar. We laughed off the meal, however we were silenced by the full volume dance music and DJ that started at 9.50pm when we were only just finished eating. We could no longer hear each other, so we cut our losses. Needless to say the other diners sitting shaking their heads with their fingers in their ears felt the same.

We visited the Albyn on Friday for lunch and must say we were very impressed. The restaurant was not very busy so the service was great. We both ordered fish and chips and it was delicious. The fish had a lovely crispy batter, the chips were crispy on the outside and lovely and fluffy inside and there was mushy peas and tartare sauce. We were offered water on arrival and this was served in a lovely bottle. We had an Itison voucher so this was very good value, if I remember correctly I think the fish was around £13 so not expensive. We will definitely return.

I spent a great evening with friends at The Albyn, last time I was in Aberdeen. There was a good atmosphere and the staff were friendly - shared a few cocktail tips with barman Alex.

Visited for the first time. Excellent lunch enjoyed by everyone. Good mix of textures made mine more interesting. The lamb was cooked perfectly.Surroundings very pleasant. Staff friendly and attentive. Will visit again soon.

We visited The Albyn last Friday and were served very promptly after ordering with very delicious food, the staff were all friendly and Alex who served our drinks when we arrived was both friendly and informative about Aberdeen, which was great as we wanted to explore this lovely city over the weekend. The atmosphere is relaxed and the surroundings modern but inviting. Would definitely go back on our next visit to the city. Highly recommend the fish and chips.
