We did go for food but it looked grubby and really uninviting. People having meals didn’t look to be enjoying them. On ordering drinks locals were paying different prices for drinks ie white wine £4 a large glass. We were told only young locals were allowed this? I know other pubs do loyalty cards just for locals which is a little unfair as charging visitors more doesnt really encourage us to go back. We are supporting their trade so why should we pay more. The Albion needs to up its game its in a prime location so could be a little gold mine like it used to be. Think only reason people drink there is because of its location as certainly not it’s value for money.

Maar goed eigen schuld we wilden eens even ergens anders

We were staying in a holiday cottage in the beautiful village of arnside and decided to go to the Albion for a evening meal, from the outside the place looked busy the sun was shining, inside there wasn’t a person in, this is where we should of walked out the staff were chatting between them selfs one was on his phone there must of been 50 empty glasses on the counter, we had to asked to be served, we finally got our drinks and went outside, looking around there wasn’t many people eating, we looked at the menu and decided to order, we ordered a pizza and fish and chips, what a mistake the pizza was terrible it looked like a frozen pizza just chucked in a oven, my partner fish and chips are the worst he has ever had, I stopped the waitress and asked if the pizza are made here she said she doesn’t think so, more like bought from Iceland. The toilets are disgusting, my partner said the gents were the same, we got talking to a local couple, they said the only reason people are sitting here is the sun is shining and the view, and what a view it is, they said the place has a shocking reputation and locals don’t use the place, when we checked out the cottage we told the owner about our experience of the Albion, she said we are the 3rd person recently who has stayed at the cottage to say the same, and in the welcome pack now she is going to advise future guests not to go near the place, the owner must read reviews and see there is a issue here.

We came here quite a lot in the mid 80's when we had a caravan at Cockerham, and enjoyed the views and the vibe. The views are definitely still there and worth coming for, but not so sure about the rest. The beer was fine, but expensive, The weather was great so, unsurprisingly, everyone was sat outside, which left the inside looking careworn and the staff appeared somewhat indifferent.

Good point: The pub is in a great spot. That’s it. Unfortunately, the manager seems to only employ very young female staff that seem to have to wear knickers as part of their uniform. Just knickers and a t shirt. I mean you could technically call them shorts but who are we kidding. It gives the feel of the pub a ‘Hooters’ type atmosphere whereas I’m sure this is supposed to be family friendly? Said staff seemed uncomfortable and did not look happy. However, I’m sure many of the dirty minded men were happy as I watched one probably old enough to be a grandad take photos of the waitress as she was collecting glasses but it would appear management want to attract this type of clientele. Food was so-so. Burgers extremely well done and chewy, I ended up giving most of it to my dog. I guess the chips were ok. Just a thought. Maybe you could provide more than one toilet for women and provide toilet roll also? I mean surely toilet roll is kind of essential if you have toilets? Seems to have lost its family friendly atmosphere to a more seedy style pub. Dire place. Mediocre food. What a shame.

Not one for complaining, but probably the worst meal I have had. Steak and ale pie was like something you would get from the frozen section in your supermarket. All the party were disappointed in the starters and mains. Would give it 1 star. Definitely not worth the money spent. We called into the Fighting Cocks for a few drinks prior, and wished we stayed, as the food looked great, and a friendly welcome.

Paid over £50 for the worst food ever. Drinks were horribly expensive, paying almost 6 - £7 for a basic pint. The burger was absolutely disgusting, and the bread tasted like bananas. I was nearly sick and had to spit it out. I was sat contemplating whether I'd been given a veggie burger by mistake because of how chewy and poor the meat was. The beef burger tasted more like a sausage sandwich you would get from a service station.

14 of us came here for lunch after a work day out and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. I’d initially booked for 12 but they played around with the tables to fit us all in. Everyone appeared very happy with the food; cooked well and big portions / good prices. The drinks selection is excellent and they keep a really good pint (a personal favourite is the Arnside Bore!) I look forward to going back soon for a pint, sitting in the beer garden and looking out at the estuary and the mountains! Great pub.

This place has so much potential but just sort of misses the mark. The location is amazing, with a perfect view overlooking the bay from the beer garden, which I would imagine is jam packed in the summer months. We only stayed for one round of drinks, which were expensive in comparison to other venues in the area. The service was okay, but nothing to write home about. Overall just an average experience for us.

Food was exactly like most previous reviews describe , bland, microwaved (veg still cold ), frozen chips , and very over priced ---£13.95 for steak pie which was the quality and standard of £6 pie in weatherspoons ! Will read reviews in future (and suggest the owners do - and act on them )Won't be back or recommend

Just visited here for the last time, and am disappointed to see that you have to give at least one-star to be able to register your review. This place has completely gone to pot...Where do I start in describing the 'experience'? The outside area is grubby and unloved - this is never a good first impression, and we should have turned back. Cigarette ends litter the front and the planters are filled with dead plants. We've been here dozens of times pre-Covid - and just thought things would be like they'd always been before then,On arrival, the dining-room was cold. At this point, in retrospect, we should definitely have walked out. The reception we received was surly at best, and the very young waiting-staff seemed very inexperienced and nervy. That's not a crime - but then again its not good for paying-customers either. It's financially advantageous for the pub to pay as little for staff though - so employ young adults. The young girl who dealt with us was it has to be said, incredibly badly turned-out.The cooked food arrived far too quickly for it to have been freshly made. Clearly it had been microwaved. However the bland limp (24) chips were lukewarm - and the plate was stone cold too. My wife's salad portion consisted of limp lettuce and no tomato. when we asked, we were told there was no mayonnaise sauce either. However she did say that it was 'ok' I imagine that prisoners would riot if served with my dish.As for the ambience of the dining room, it had all the charm of a refugee holding camp. As mentioned, it was cold and also soulless. It has now become very tired and dreary, decor-wise. Three barking dogs, and 5 annoying children climbing on tables also contributed to the Wacky-Warehouse/Vet's waiting-room feel. If that's the vibe they are striving for - well done The Albion! As for the prices. had the food been high quality then it was possible worth the prices. However, the rubbish we were served was worth about 60% of the bill. Why didn't I ask for fresh chips? Because what's the point? My meal would have been taken away whilst they cooked fresh ones (possibly not) - and my wife would have finished hers by then.In these instances its best to put things down to experience - and move on. Thank goodness for being able to review these places though - as they pay for their indifference eventfully.Stay away folks - this place is dire.

The food came, all I saw was the cheapest quality going, pizza was probably £1-50 from Iceland but cost £12 no chips salad nothing, scampi, asked for garden peas got mushy peas, best till last club sandwich, the bacon had been microwaved so no colour at all & stone cold, came back just about warm but not seen a pan or hotplate. When it came to pay not a word asking if all was OK etc, all for £60.Absolutely awful

Small portions and all tasted like supermarket bought frozen food, it was very poor. For the prices I expected much much better. I've had more enjoyable meals at Wetherspoons for half the price and that's saying something. Service was good and staff friendly though which has pulled the review up from one star. Also noticed that the pub only reply to 5 star reviews never any other which sorts of suggests their heads are buried in the sand as the majority of recent reviews are very poor.

Bit of a shame really, nice spot, decor ok, a bit "standard seaside pub" but food let it down. All the fried stuff (whitebait, scampi, haddock, chicken) was overdone. Nothing wrong with the way Cumberland sausage was cooked but really bad quality (like the poorest supermarket version...tasteless)Camembert ok, prawn cocktail with smoked salmon huge but bad (tiny frozen prawns, if there was any smoked salmon I wasn't talented enough to find it)Wine and beer were fine, service pretty good.

Service is OK, but food is below average and very overpriced and the place doesn't feel clean. Me and my partner have lived in Arnside for a number of years and along with many of the locals, the Albion was our local. It was always a great night with a friendly, community atmosphere. Since the most recent landlord has had the Albion, I’m sure I speak on behalf of the Arnside community when I say the management are running this place into the ground. The service is absolutely disgusting, the pub is worn down and dirty, the decking outside is never clean. I could write a lot about the poor quality and stock of food and drink, but for us it’s more about how shocking some of the locals have been treated by the staff in the Albion. It says an awful lot when the locals would now rather sit on the beach with their own drinks than put money behind the bar in this place. They have upset so many locals, and continue to do so including myself and my partner. It’s an absolute shame, I really hope management changes soon and this place can be restored to what it used to be.

We watched the sunset over the estuary as we have so many times before. The system of ordering in the vault bar and having the drinks brought outside (table number required) was brilliant. But the highlight was our server Harriet, she was very effecient and very friendly. Sometimes you go to a pub restaurant and one memebr of staff stands out; this was Harriet. There were 4 of us and she made us laugh and smile in a natural way, it was not put on. When a hospitality venue finds staff like this they will get repeat business.Shame we could not have food but hopefully next time.

The only way to order was at the bar and I was directed to the side bar (I can’t remember the name). There was nobody serving, a group of people were waiting, some commenting on the lack of service. So we called for a drink before heading back to our accommodation. We'd been to the Kingfisher restaurant as we'd been told by a number of people that the Albion and Ye Olde Fighting Cocks had gone way downhill for food, but unfortunately the Albion had not only gone downhill food wise, but generally in all areas.Untidy, litter strewn outside area. The beer was off and was exchanged for a bottle of beer that was 2 months out of date, but we eventually got a decent drink. I find it puzzling how a pub in such an idyllic spot can let itself go to such an extent, but maybe the management know that people will still visit because of the location, so don't really care anyway. Please get your act together. You don't deserve to be operating in such a beautiful part of the country.

Weird! No apologies or embarrassment- they seem to think this is normal. Service was ok but...table was horribly sticky (apparently the result of an industrial cleaner - joke), a cold air fan would have made everything more comfortable for us but there only seemed to be one in the whole pub and it was nowhere near us - the loos were disgusting - god knows how Covid hasn't taken off big time here - and there was no ice cream available even though the dessert menu offered it as part of every selection. I thought it might be a one off...but no. Time and Time again it has disapointed and fellow guests agree. Our last visit this weekend - the fish and chips were inedible, the burgers were burnt and overcooked, there were flies all over inside, the white wine was warm as there was no ice and the waitress appeared not to give a monkeys! There was no apology or alternative given. They could have gone to Londis to buy some wine and/or ice!I really want the Albion to succeed so would suggest the following:1. Get new management2, Train the staff3. Get a new chef or/and change the menu so that it doesn't require cooking - how difficult would it be to cook pizza! Please, please,,, save our Albion!

The pub was very quiet and we soon realised the reason why. When we tried to order our drinks, we were told that they had to change the barrrel of real ale and they would bring our drinks out to us.A couple on the next table called the waitress over as they had shared some chips but were still waiting for the drinks they ordered 25 minutes earlier, when she returned she said there was a problem changing the barrel but the would be coming out soon. After another 15 minutes, we hadn't had our drinks and neither had they, so they asked for their money back as they would be going elsewhere, to be told by the waitress that was a good idea and walked off! In the mean time we had ordered a meal, which with hindsight, maybe shouldn't have. When my husband ordered, they said that they wouldn't commence cooking it until 15:55 as they were busy, which clearly wasn't the case as there was no more than 15 people inside and outside, most of whom were not eating. It took us 35 minutes to get a pint of real ale and a glass of wine and soda. At 16:10, the waitress informed us that they had just started our order and wouldn't be long. After a further hour & 15 minutes we finally got our meal, which I can only describes as appauling, the gammon was almost raw, the chips had been recooked and so were the garden peas which were hard and inedible. No one came to ask us how our meal was, I took most of the meat home for the dog, who also turned his nose up at it.I have visited this establishment every year we have visited Arnside, but never again, rude staff, poor customer service and food was disgusting.

Deeply saddened by the level of service....manager in shorts and flip flops... and a host of other downs compared to where it was previously. If it's a pint and a good location then this pub fulfills that....but food is disappointing, aswell as the service.

The last few weeks this place has just gone down and down with food service. Staff are still lovely...... But the food..... Shocking. This was a £12.95 Cumberland sausage with seasonal greens and braised onions.........make your own minds up. But this is reminiscence of a school dinner and certainly not the same dish we got a few weeks ago. And certainly not worth the money...... Frozen peas and sweetcorn.... Not seasonal greens. No braised onions..... And the sausage was a cheap frozen version of what we ate a few weeks back. Go for a drink here as great spot and people. Please please don't eat til they sort the kitchen out....... Sad times.

Always loved this place and have recommended to countless people. Was excited to get back but sooooooooo disappointed that their fabulous homemade, real potato chips were now FROZEN! They were bland and no better than what I could have cooked at home. Come on Albion get your real chips back on the menu. Staff and service still great

Family day out was only made better because of the Albion public house. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was outstanding. We even met the manager who was friendly and approachable. His staff are a credit to him. We will definitely be calling again and recommending this place to friends. Top place

Feeling rather peckish after my walk today I chose the albion..... And what a good idea that was!!.... Did not leave disappointed. Very busy but efficiently run. I was greeted by staff on arrival and I was soon made to feel very welcome. The girls were a great laugh and a pleasure... Even when they were as busy as they were!! Small menu but a excellent range of choices.I ordered the chicken ceaser wrap and fries which was just perfect... Drinking an ale and watching the world go by. The views really are amazing... Only made better with this lovely little spot to sit back and relax. I will certainly be returning!! A huge thanks to my servers today... If I remember rightly!? Kelly, Lorraine, Hannah and Ambika..

What a weird system this pub has. Pre-booked a table for 2pm, then when went to order it (you order at the bar despite signs telling you table service only, and nobody telling you otherwise), was told no food until 4pm. Why pre-book patrons then? And then during that apparent window of ‘no food’ others were still ordering food, so is it just luck of the draw? Normally I would give the benefit of the doubt given it was a sunny Saturday, and establishments getting used to the new circumstances, but no BOD given when the staff are so plainly rude.

Have been here tonight for a meal with my husband and I really do not understand the poor reviews. They said they were short staffed but despite that went out of their way to be pleasant and helpful. The service was very quick, food good, staff friendly. We often come here and it is always fine. Thank you t all the staff.

It is so disappointing to write this review. I have been visiting the Albion for many years. What has happened to this pub is so sad. The staff are rude and make it clear that serving you is an inconvenience. We have tried to get food three times in the last couple of weeks and they have either stopped serving at a ridiculously early time, the chef hasn’t shown up or they are too busy. They need to learn how to cope in busy times - the Albion is a busy pub in the summer and if they can’t cope with the few tables that were full when we went recently then they have no hope for the summer holidays. The pub is dirty, tables are rarely cleared and the toilets are usually disgusting. We have repeatedly tried to come back for drinks and food as we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt with changes due to Covid etc but it is clear that unless there are radical changes this is definitely not a place you would want to visit. Sadly, I am sure this review will be replied to very negatively - as I have seen on countless reviews and Facebook comments. Maybe management could try and take some of the comments on board and look to prove us all wrong and turn the Albion around - it’s what we all want!

First visit to Arnside what a lovely town, will come here again. On Friday we asked a waitress if we could book outside table for Saturday. Was told they serve food from noon to 9pm but do not take bookings. People were eating outside. Arrived on Saturday at 3.20 and sat outside. Waiter gave us a menu but said food not being served until 5pm. We waited and had a few drinks. 4pm another table was served food outside. Along with tables around us the waiter confirmed to us no food being served until 5pm. At 5pm went to order food, as did others. Told they were not serving food outside. We explained how long we had waited etc. But was pretty much told tough! Surprisingly we left never to return!

Awful food, poor service, badly maintained. Don’t seem to want customers or to encourage anyone to Arnside.Staying in a hotel down the road. Booked for tea, when we got there were told they weren’t doing food til 5 even though we’d booked for 4. Only doing a reduced menu with not much to offer on, anything that came out didn’t look great. Only had nachos and sides, microwaved and covered in oil. Heard the staff tell another table they had closed the kitchen all together when half of the tables were empty.Light fighting’s broken, dryer hanging off the wall in the toilets. Don’t have half the drinks on the menu.Disappointing, as the area could be such a lovely place that would attract tourists but the businesses are doing everything wrong and no one seems to care about wanting people to return.

Been here twice this week for drinks. Both times all was fine. We saw food being served and it looked good too. Pleasant service and comfortable. We did want to try and eat here bank holiday Monday evening but no answer on phone. These are very hard times for pub restaurant teams so I’d encourage The Albion to keep improving but also that the village needs the Albion and the Fighting cocks performing well. We tried to eat at the cocks but no availability at all despite some nights seeing nobody inside (I know tables reserved for hotel stays which I understand but doesn’t help those not staying) Plus Gado Gado closed so Arnside is in danger of customers going elsewhere. The village should pull together to help local businesses and people. We will continue to try and support all but some trip advisor comments don’t help. So we hope for a return to better times for pubs that are vital for the village life. Like I say it’s very hard times for all. We used to eat 20-25 times a year in Arnside plus occasional drinks. At the moment it’s less than 10. With our money going elsewhere. We would rather pay locally. As I’m sure would many others.

Lovely view of the beach from the outside seating area and nice drinks. However the outdoor area where we were sitting was a bit dirty and I even saw glass on the ground in some places. I think some cleaning up could be done especially on the tables too between the cracks.

For some years a minor landmark in the northern Morecambe Bay area, the Albion, Arnside, used to be a favourite venue for us until its seemingly sudden recent demise. The loss of such an amenity is to be regretted, but then so is the fact that those mopping up what's left of the business have made no apparent effort to advise anyone of the unfortunate state of affairs in which the pub seems to have found itself. We were intending to host a lunch for ourselves and visiting friends on June 2nd, and so we took the Albion at its word (on its website) as follows:Telephone bookings are welcome. Our telephone number is 01524 76122I devoted more than an hour on Sunday May 30th to11 separate phone calls to the Albion, not one of which was answered.I delayed going out next morning, May 31st, so as to ring the Albion again, and again, and again. . . but as before, no booking was possible because no-one answered the phone.I then emailed the Albion at the address given on its website asking if it would be possible to book a table for 4 for June 2nd, and if the venue could kindly get back to me about the booking, either by landline, or text, or email. The whole of that day elapsed without any acknowledgment of any kind, prompting the inevitable conclusion that the Albion must have closed down -- inevitable, because a business must either be entirely defunct or so epically badly run that it can't be bothered to respond by voice or text or email to a customer booking. As nothing in our previous experience of the Albion suggests it is run by incompetents incapable of providing a simple answerphone message for activation in busy periods -- "thank you for contacting the Albion, Arnside; sorry we can't come to the phone right now as we're very busy, but if you leave your name and number we'll get back to you shortly' -- then I can only conclude no-one answers the phone at the Albion because no-one works at the Albion because the Albion is no longer trading.Pity, really, but there are other equally or even more attractive venues in and around Arnside and Silverdale so it's not the end of the world. I have emailed the Albion a second time to express my regret at the pub's demise, but do not live in hope of any response being made to that, either.

Went with adult family for Sunday lunch yesterday. Waited nearly an hour for our food, which wasn’t worth the wait. Roast dinner was very disappointing, some of the vegetables were missing, we were given one tiny portion of cauliflower cheese between three of us and told they’d run out and the man who served us told us that it was meant for his lunch!! We later saw the cauliflower being given to other customers and staff said it wasn’t ready when we were being served. Gravy tasteless and very thin. The lady who served us was very pleasant but the man, who appeared to be in charge, was totally disinterested when we raised concern about the quality of the food. The pub was very busy but as they’d taken reservations we presume they should have been aware of how many staff were required. A very negative experience. We won’t be rushing back and can only hope the owner listens to customer concerns and improves the quality of food and service.

Not impressed today at all. Wait time of 15 mins to order a drink, then another 40 mins for food to arrive, table service very slow. Drinks order incorrect when it arrived. We both ordered sunday lunch and yes, it was ok but I'm not convinced that 2 roast potatoes can ever be seen as sufficient on a road dinner! If this was the firs time I'd been there I definitely wouldnt rush back.

For a first night out with friends since lock down we were all left very disappointed. The food was shockingly poor. How can you get a salad so wrong? Goats cheese salad was literally just a small amount of crumbled cheese on lettuce leaves, a few (3) croutons and half a slice of cucumber! that was it., the Tuna salad was also poor and missing most of the ingredients advertised on the menu. When we complained to the waiter he was apologetic but made excuses about the new “chef". I asked for some other salad ingredients to make it more interesting and he brought me a small pot of yellow pepper and cucumber. But it was too late and I didn’t eat any of it as it was unappetising and tasteless. The pies were average but edible being just a puff pastry lid on top of a stew in a dish and sat on a plate with anaemia chips and frozen peas and carrots. Having worked in the hospitality trade back in the 90’s this was how we served our pies then but times have changed and people want a pie to be a pie, a top and bottom. Food needs to LOOK AND TASTE good and this sadly didn’t do either. Both salads were removed from the bill. The staff were friendly and helpful but seemed a bit confused most of the time. The pub it’s self presented as untidy with litter on the floor at the bar which staff walked past repeatedly and didn’t pick up. The Albion seriously needs to up its game if it wants people to return or recommend to others as four of us here certainly won’t be doing.

Most of the items on the menu were not available as apparently there was a new chef. Advertised specials were not available either, although clearly displayed. Food was very mediocre when arrived, we had to send the undercooked chips back, which had clearly just been microwaved when they came back again. Waitress took to slammimg drinks down, was very rude and offhand. Sat round the corner on her phone while we waited to be served. Listenend in on our private conversation and gave us dirty looks, was very sullen and had a very bad attitude, which was not the service to be expected. Nothing done to recover poor food and service, very disappointning.

Terrible food - “steak burger” ordered for lunch for myself and husband. I don’t think the burger had been anywhere near a cow - but it certainly had been near a sheet of grease proof paper as it was still stuck to the underside of my husbands burger! when reported we were met with shall I take it back - we said no as we didn’t want another. No reimbursement offered or sincere apology from management or anything. Yuk - won’t be back!

We enjoyed a light alfresco lunch on a sunny Monday afternoon in April 2021. This was shortly after outside drinks and food service was permitted again, with certain COVID restrictions still in force. We ordered a chicken and bacon club sandwich, and an egg mayonnaise with black pepper sandwich, both with very nice granary bread. We shared a tub of chunky chips. The sandwiches came garnished with green leaves with a balsamic dressing and crisps. We had a Diet Coke and a pot of tea for one to drink.Total cost: £20.85. Payment was required in advance at our table after ordering, because of COVID.To summarise: Service - Very good. Food - Excellent. Drinks and Condiments ?? This is why they lost one star.Pot of tea; not difficult you‘d think. Thing is, as you can see from my pic, they use tiny pots that might just about hold 1.5 cups of water, but my pot was only half filled and with warm water. It was just warm - Not hot, and with only enough water for one cup. Certainly not enough for a top up or a mug full.I’d recommend they get larger tea pots and learn to fill them up and with boiling water. Why are establishments always so mean with their hot water?Condiments. Sachets of mayonnaise etc and those fiddly little salt and pepper packets, all of which have to be ripped open and spill everywhere. It wouldn’t hurt to invest in some proper salt and pepper cellars and bottles or tubs of ketchup etc. We know it’s more convenient and easier for the venue, but keep it classy and don’t let the Service decline down to a greasy spoon‘s standard.

1 meal out of 3 which was ordered was quite tasteless (limited vegetarian options) so rather unfortunately was sent back after a couple of mouthfuls. Apologies by waitress but no offer of refund although an offer to exchange. Nothing else on the menu which suited from the limited vegetarian options so we declined. Cappuccino also came as black coffee with froth. This also sent back but was changed appropriately. I enquired politely about a refund for the 1 meal which we had sent back (6.95 for a sandwich) Manager came out and advised me to make complaint via email. I stated politely that I didnt want to make a complaint to which he thrust an email address infront of me and told me very abruptly 'well, you are not getting a refund so here's the email' I was quite stunned, not by the lack of refund but by a manager who would speak to guests in such a manner and encourage complaints. Disgusting treatment from a pub which advertises itself as family friendly. Friendly it definitely wasnt.

We arrived in lovely sunshine but were disappointed to find that contrary to the impression given in the advertisement by Lakeland Retreats of sitting on your decking enjoying the sun there is no sun as the Lawns is surrounded by high trees making the interior constantly dark. You have to put the lights on for your breakfast and if you eat in later in the day then also. My partner decided to have a bath the first night but unfortunately contrary to the management company's assertion that there's a constant supply of hot water the hot water ran out and the water turned cold. This happened twice as it did to our neighbours in the adjoining Lakeland Retreats property. We normally have a cooked breakfast on a Sunday but we were appalled to find that the two frying pans supplied were pitted with rust and unusable. Finally as the season turned from summer to autumn the evenings got a little nippy. We tried to turn up the storage radiators but found that the controls are blocked by wooden brackets screwed over the radiators so you can't use them. A beautiful area but we won't be using Lakeland Retreats again if this is the standard they aspire to!
