⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great local pub with a really nice and friendly atmosphere. The food is excellent — especially the Tuesday burger offer (buy one, get one free), which is fantastic value! Drinks are reasonably priced, and there’s plenty of parking both in the front and back. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Fabulous environmental, lovely staff and excellent food. Had the buy one get one free burger which were excellent value. Definitely be coming back regularly.

Found this place while having a ride out. Would definitely recommended and visit again. I had the Tikka Massala, my husband had the lasagne Both came piping hot. Proper home cooked and tasty.

Very cozy pub with slot machines, darts and lots of TVs showing music videos or sporting events. We sat there comfortably and ate dinner. The portions are very large and the food was very tasty.

Went here for two Sundays in a row. We enjoyed our Sunday lunch the first Sunday and re-booked to return the next week. The food was good, tasty and well presented. We had turkey and beef. We had the beef well done. Good location. Has a car park, but not large. It is also on the bus route. Inside there is a dart board and pool table. We would eat here again.

Wanted to share our experience from today. We went to the ainsty with kids and could not fault the service. I think the staff member was called Gio. He took our order and cooked the food as well. When our child changed his mind regarding the ice cream flavour, he changed it without a fuss. He was so friendly and polite. Excellent member of the team!

Always wondered what it was like to visit the Ainsty, since 90s. Returning to York, my partner and I popped in for a drink. One pint of Carling, half pint diet coke and one standard packet of crisps came to £12.65. Shocking price and very long wait at the bar for unfriendly service by the bar lady. Shall not be visiting again, but frequenting my favourite local called the Bluebell in the centre of town for a much nicer experience.

The beef and gravy sandwich is absolutely delicious i deffo recommend to family and friends and social media so others can try this lovely place out

Fantastic food, friendly staff and great atmosphere

Lovely vibes with plenty to do with pool, darts, live sport and music nights. Felt very welcome from Anna and all the staff. Super dog friendly too, always given a water bowl and a snuggle.

Enjoyed a Sunday afternoon and early evening watching the Caribao Cup followed by a Sunday roast. Great atmosphere and the service was fantastic despite being really busy. Food excellent value for money. Would recommend.

Both of us had the roast beef-it was really tasty and tender. Four veg along with both mash and roast potatoes and a jug of extra gravy which was lovely and thick! A good old plateful at a reasonable price.

The Ainsty is a large road house style 1930s pub. The staff are very friendly, there are plenty of lagers and cider and three hand-pulled cask conditioned real ales which were in excellent condition on our visit. There is a pool table and tv screens for watching football. The pub has a nice outside seating area and plenty of car parking.

Thank you to Simon, Avan and the team at The Ainsty for hosting our dad’s 60th birthday party. Nothing was too much trouble, the buffet was delicious and everyone had a great afternoon. We will be recommending you for parties.

Turned away for not having a ticket on NYE (no advertisement about this). The place was half empty, it was early, and I only wanted to stay for one drink. Not very friendly or welcoming. Very strange.

Booked for Christmas Day Dinner 25/12/2024 for 5 adults and 1 child, 3 of which travelled over an hour to be there, unfortunately we were all disappointed by the meals served. The burger for the child was burnt and the bread bun was hard, turkey was dry, steaks weren't cooked as asked, they were all done the same, well done so no taste to them. Vegetables and yorkshire puddings were frozen not fresh and the mash was the stuff you make with water. Starters were ok, desserts again didn't get what we ordered, no Christmas pudding, chocolate fondue pudding without fresh raspberries, the cheese on the cheeseboard platter tasted stale and the berries on the cheesecake were mush and the coffee, tea and mince pies to finish we never received. From start to finish it seemed that there was no organisation, we waited ages in between getting our next course of food and 4 times had to clarify our dessert choices that they still never got right. We were not the only guests that had issues, a few other parties didn't receive certain foods that they ordered or they had items missing from their dinner or they got wrong dishes served to them. Given that this was the first time visiting the Ainsty I'm sorry to say that it hasn't inspired me to book for food again especially at such a special time of the year. On a plus side the young girl serving drinks behind the bar was very polite.

This is lovely friendly pub, me and my friend Barbara come every Thursday for a meal in the day. Geo the chef , is lovely and the food is 100% delicious 😋. I would recommend this place to anyone, who is passing by for just a drink or nipping in for food. Everyone is always welcome and the food and drinks are priced good.

Met up here yesterday with family as a get together before Christmas . Staff were lovely and accommodating. Food was delicious . We were made to feel very welcome . Lovely afternoon playing darts and pool . Thank you

From the minute we arrived until the minute we left,the staff were polite,courteous, and extremely welcoming, The food was absolutely fabulous, extremely tasty, and well presented, Definitely worth every penny, I would recommend this to everyone. Haven't been to the Ainsty since the World Cup 2014, when it was a bit of a hole truth be told. I was apprehensive to meet a friend there yesterday given this previous experience but I stood corrected - the place has really changed for the better. The interior decor is beautiful, the furnishings very comfortable, the atmosphere was warm and friendly and the crispy Korean cauliflower was something else!! Mmm-mmm!! The ladies loo was spotless. So clean you could have eaten your dinner off it should you be inclined. I had a lovely little afternoon catch-up with my friend and was really impressed by the overall Ainsty experience. Good job, Josh and his team 👍🏻

Visited the ainsty and just wanted to leave a review to say what a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere it has, the Christmas decor was a nice touch and the man behind the bar (josh) was friendly and approachable, felt like a local in there. A proper pub (there aren’t many left)!

Josh is a lovely worker who works very hard and shows how much he loves his job showing passion with other members of staff and customers, always a friendly face to see

Good food ,good service good company can't fault it

The ainsty pub has a great atmosphere, with staff who are kind, warm and welcoming. It feels like a home away from home. The landlords are always so friendly and are down for a laugh. The bar staff ate quick and pull great pints, Josh always has a smile on his face and it happy to serve you. The food is delicious and always great! It doesn’t take long from ordering to arriving at your table! The live entertainment they have on is top notch and it’s a great pub to come watch some footy!

Came in recently for a meal with my son who is 9. We had a really nice time, Josh behind the bar was so lovely and couldn't do enough for us. The food was delicious, we both had a burger and we both loved it. The chef Gio is really nice and friendly, he came out to chat to us and asked if we enjoyed our food. Recently, I had the pleasure of holding my partners birthday party here, and it was fabulous. The staff went the extra mile and accommodated all our wishes for the event. Great time had, by all. The food was top-notch, too 👌

First visit since the refurb. Had the buy one get one free burger which were excellent value. Lovely succulent burger, not the horrible dry chargrilled versions you get elsewhere. Best one I have had in a pub in a long time. Lovely fresh salad, fries and proper onion rings. The mocha was excellent too. Superb value and will definitely be coming back again soon. Well done.

Managers are very horrible nasty rude staff come and go it's a very picky place will never return unless things change if your not liked your not welcome drugs and all sorts go on in here not child friendly either

We were looking for somewhere that had sky sports so hubby could watch the football his beloved Blues was playing we spotted the Ainsty so decided to stop and yes they had sky sports hubby asked if there was a table by a telly we were shown to a lovely little area with comfortable seating. Checked out the menu there was a good choice I had the all day breakfast which was lovely the sausages were really tasty and the eggs cooked to perfection gave bacon to hubby as not too keen on bacon. Hubby had cheese and bacon burger (plus the extra bacon I gave him) he cleared his plate and sat back with his pint to enjoy the footie, we stayed on after the match enjoyed a chat with the staff who were lovely. If you are in York check out the Ainsty you won't be dissapointed.

Went at lunchtime,two meals for 14.00 pie and mash and hunters chickens . Both meals delicious and hot😊will definitely be dining there again...

Friendly atmosphere, good choice of drinks, I loved the soup of the day and the burgers. We went one night and there was a fantastic band playing rock. I think the name was Kanowurmz or something similar

Lovely pub now it's been refurbished. Friendly staff and great food. Highly reccomend coming on a Tuesday for BOGOF on the burgers !

Once again returned here for food, amazing food, the gammon was beautiful and my friends had a roast, hot, fresh and tasty. Couldn’t ask for more, staff friendly and attentive.
