I recently visited York’s Chocolate Story after booking tickets online and traveling from Liverpool. Unfortunately, we were delayed by 45 minutes due to traffic and parking issues. Despite explaining the situation, both the staff and manager refused to let us in unless we repurchased all tickets, with no option for a refund. The booking confirmation only mentioned that late arrivals may not guarantee entry, but it did not clearly state that we would be completely denied or have to buy tickets again. Very disappointed with the lack of flexibility and poor customer service.

Mixed views on the experience. It was much bigger than I thought it would be and there’s lots of samples and things to look at. Making the chocolate lolly was a huge highlight for all the family. The lady giving the tour was very enthusiastic however she told off a couple of children and adults for taking samples of chocolate, there wasn’t a sign anywhere to say not to, it very much looked like it was ok to take as you entered the room. I think she made them feel very uncomfortable and like being told off at school! Not what you expect from a paid family friendly experience.

My booking was found quickly when I arrived and the tour started right on time. As soon as we got to the start we got our first sample and got plenty throughout the tour which was educational, funny and really well presented by Rosa. They answered questions well with Knowledge they had found themselves from previous people asking which was a very nice thing to see as it shows they really care about the customers. Making the chocolate lolly at the end was a lot of fun and getting the sample of banoffee chocolate after watching how they were made was great. Thank you for the great and informative tour.

£60 for a family of 4 (just missed out on the summer deal which would have saved me money) Easy to find we used the park and ride and the bus stopped a short walk away. We arrived 15mins before time slot as advised but just stood and waited so i wouldn't have said that was totally needed just to make sure you arrive on time. 12 in our group. We went to the top floor where we were met by Lee. He took a photo then asked us all our fave chocolate he was very knowledgeable on this which was impressive. He gave us a sample and we moved to the next room where we watched a short video tasted the worst drink and moved to the next room, watched another short story had a quailty street then onto the next room, listened to a short presentation had a mini kit kat then onto the next room where we watched the process from bean to chocolate but one screen wasn't working. There was a few displays to look at 2 or 3 of the screens weren't working. We then made a chocolate lolly (to take home) while we waited for them we watched some chocolates been made and got 2 each to take away. That was the tour over so for £60 I was a bit disappointed (if I'd have paid the summer deal think it would have been £40 odd) I still wouldn't have been impressed but I wouldn't of felt totally out of pocket. The guide was fab though csnt complain about him. Lots of knowledgeable, a bit fast when talking which made it hard for my children to understand but he was friendly, open for questions, funny. He made the guide enjoyable. I wouldn't go back

The conservatory looked magical with candles twinkling on the tables, together with a beautiful floral display. As always the service is excellent and friendly.
