What a lovely morning we had yesterday at the York's Chocolate Story. My wife and I last visited about 10 years ago, and they have obviously spent a lot of money upgrading the attraction, and it is money well spent as it seemed more engaging, for all ages. This was our 9 year old daughters first visit and she had a fantastic time, well who wouldn't with all the tasting! Our guide Lee, was very knowledgeable and could tell us anything we wanted to know about any chocolate bar, he certainly knows his Crunchy from his Chocolate Orange. He was really engaging too and his interaction with the live parts of the attraction was flawless and fun. I have a mobility disability and there was plenty of places to sit during the tour, and Lee made sure I was still involved. We would highly recommend this attraction, you won't be disappointed. Your taste buds may be from tasting chocolate water drink, the beginning of chocolate!

We had a wonderful time at this venue, the young lady Annabel was great & very knowledgeable. We were given quite a few treats along the way during our tour & even made ourselves a chocolate lollipop. The young man who was making the passion fruit chocolates was very entertaining & the chocolates we were given to try were really tasty. I spent far too much in the shop after our tour, it is well worth a visit.

The tour was amazing, we were a little late so had missed the first talk but managed to catch the group as they went into the second room, Lee (the tour guide) went and got us some Taster bags which we should have collected in the first room, he was very informative and kind, he also checked if my dad (who wears a knee brace) needed to use the lift or not so he could show where it was. Over all great experience.

I took my nephew to York chocolate story over the weekend for an Easter treat. Our tour guide Daniel was fantastic and could not have been more accommodating, having food allergies I was prepared for a less than stellar experience but I was asked on arrival and he ensured that I had an allergy friendly sample bag and ensured in each section of the tour I knew what I was able to sample and offered alternatives if it was not something safe for me. He also ensured that I had fresh ingredients for the lolly making and again had a small pot with allergy friendly toppings, he even made a point to explain about cross contamination to the whole group. Not only that, he was so patient with the children on the tour making sure even the toddlers were able to get involved with the interactive parts and redirected my very curious 2 year olds questions masterfully. I could not recommend this highly enough!

Very disappointing experience. Booked advance tickets for the Tuesday for girlfriend's daughter's Christmas present. Unfortunately my girlfriend had a doctors appointment on Tuesday, so we popped in on the Monday with the view for changing the tickets for later that day. We were then met by the manager who very inflexible, simply quoted their terms and conditions at us and refused to grant us entry. The week after we visited we went to Cadbury World in Birmingham which was far bigger and better.

Parts of it was disappointing, waffle and brownies in the fondue were like you bought the from a shop (supermarket) extremely dry like opened days ago.Strawberries and marshmallows was ok but im not sure how this can go bad. We also asked wifi password as the internet service was not good in the shop and was got a no reply. Seems like the good reviews come from the experience and not the shop.

A genuinely interesting museum! It was great to learn more local history through the lens of the chocolate factories in York; stuff that, having grown up near York, I was vaguely aware of but had never really investigated fully. The exhibits are cleverly put together and there's a great interactive element as you progress through the production of chocolate. There are naturally lots of samples to taste- and they do even cater for vegan visitors which was lovely. Our tour guide Reanna was very friendly, engaging and informative, with some great personal anecdotes to add to the exhibits. It was a little surprising that there's no mention of slavery either modern or historic, and some of the more unpleasant elements of the chocolate business are ignored or glossed over. Still a lot of interesting information.

Yeah, no. Very short, kinda boring. You will get a small kit kat and one piece of quality street. All the tastings are about how awful the unprocessed or the half processed cocoa beans are. By the the end you'll get to decorate white chocolate which I can't seem to understand why when we were tasting cocoa beans all along. Doesn't make any sense. I love white chocolate, but the one they give is not nice at all. £16 if you buy the tickets online but you'll got very few and small amount of chocolate, no experience. It would be nice for £5. Will not return.

I found the experience to be at best adequate, however, considering the price I felt it was poor value for money. You constantly felt that you were being hurried along due to the small time gaps between large groups, possibly due to it being half term. As a resident of York it gave a good overview of the chocolate history, but the magical experience that I expected was let down by lack of cleanliness throughout the journey, culminating in being an open kitchen with a dirty floor, dirty surfaces and a general feeling of not wanting to touch any surface due to the grubby nature of the building. When purchasing from the gift shop, I asked for a bag to put my chocolate in, I was given one option which was a small Hessian branded bag at a cost of £5.95. No other option was available. I would not recommend based on price. I feel this is a missed opportunity for what should’ve been a great experience.
