We arrived on a cold, windy evening. Dining room was warm & welcoming with a fire going. Our young waitress was extremely helpful - firstly going through the drinks available and then clarifying a number of questions about the menu. We settled on the prawn cocktail & Cullen skink for starter. Both were delicious & the prawns were a very generous portion. For mains we went with the battered fish & chips and the scampi. Both were exceptional. Crispy batter on the fish & whole prawns in the scampi. We were too full for dessert, but may forego starters next time & try the sticky toffee pudding. Considering the excellent standard of the food we felt it was great value overall.

Had a few pints here along with my dog whilst on holiday. Very friendly atmosphere and great you can take your four legged friend with you.

Lovey food, great menu and worth travelling 30 mins for. Our only issue was the young girls serving could have been a bit more attentive, nobody asked if our food was ok and after starters we had to ask and wait for new cutlery. Not a complaint, probably lack of training. Would definitely return, the fish pie was delicious .

friendly staff and they did well considering they were training. The food however could have been a lot better. It was simple food not cooked very well so must improve

The quite small tap room was very very busy with either locals or campsite tourists. Either way I waited patiently at the bar to be served. People sat at the bar made no effort to move to let me get served. Amy Macdonald rang out at a 1000 decibels over the pub speakers as everyone jumped up and down singing along with excitement. There appeared to be no one behind the bar serving at the time. I decided to walk around to the "lounge/resteraunt" area to be served. This was also a pointless task as there was no one there either. What a shame. I left.

On a weekend away in Buckie was recommended The Admirals Inn as a good place to eat - the recommendation was spot on. We did not have a reservation but they managed to arrange a table for 2 - the service was exemplary - staff extremely friendly. The menu was adequate and the food we had was excellent Fish Pie and Guiness Ale and Steak Pie, Berry Cheesecake and Creme Brulee

Have eaten here many times over the last few years and was always a joy, however....our last visit may well be our last visit. Ambience is still ok but the changes to food not very welcome. Sirloin Steak and spaghetti bolognese for mains. Sticky toffee pudding and custard and cheesecake of the day for desserts. Sounds mouth watering but lets dig a bit deeper. Mains arrive had to ask for sauces and condiments which when they did arrive wasn't what we had really asked for and no option of parmesan for the bolognese. Steak cooked to perfection i like medium rare and the "hand cut chips" i'm sure Aunty Bessie was proud of them. The steak was about 3/4 fat and grizzle, not how i remember them. The bolognese was served in a plate that made it look like a meal but the centre was shallow and the bolognese itself was runny and not that great tasting none of the mains cleared. There was no complimentary is everything ok chat. Now desserts sticky toffee pudding arrives in again a large rimmed plate with very little in the middle of where the dessert was. Measuring about 40mm by 45mm i thought i had ordered a kids portion ( similar to the bolognese main). The cheese cake then landed and looked and tasted like it had been sitting for a while again not fully consumed. We were sat not far from the bar area and watched conversations with front of house staff some of which did not look very comfortable with one lady in particular being the main reason for this a bit uncomfortable to say the least. The above with 2 pints and a soft drink came to @£73 and considering what we had and the experience all in left the bitterest taste in our mouths. Now i'm sure that many people have had great experiences here but unfortunately this wasn't us on this visit and compared to food quality and pricing in the past this is our last, We understand the current economy etc but you can't be seen to cut corners and not be noticed

Worst dining experience ever, staff were less than attentive and spent more time chatting with a friend who came in than actually serving anyone, we were served our drinks and never asked again if we wanted another drink, not even when they were serving us our subpar food. We had three of the chicken tenders, all of which were definitely tender, they were not the issue. We had the steak, it was cold, we asked for it medium well, the result wasn't even that, still bright pink, and was cold. We had the macaroni and cheese with BBQ pulled pork, got 4 slithers of the pork on top and cremated on the very tasteless macaroni, there was no cheese taste, not even salt or pepper, had to use peppercorn sauce (that had been clearly microwaved) to at least try get some sort of taste from it, that didn't even work. We also had steak loaded fries, how you can call them 'Loaded' when you just pour over lukewarm gravy and toss a few cold steak pieces on top that had no flavour other than plastic. The tables and windows were a disgrace, tables weren't even cleaned from any previous customers, they were sticky, covered in crumbs. The menus were in disrepair, not in the sense of having been used so much, as in, sticky as though they've been left in alcohol too long and have stuck to the table. The glasses for water were not even clean, they had dried food inside and dust, along with the rim of the water bottle we were given. There was no heating, which when you're sat at a table next to the door, would've been nice, the entire place was baltic to the point many other customers refused to take off their coats. When using the bathroom, there wasn't even hot water to wash your hands. We were not the only customers unsatisfied and most definitely will not be back, the fact that this place looked at what they served us and thought that what we were served today was any form of suitable or desirable is ridiculous. Avoid this place at all costs, you would be better going to Burger King!
