Great pub food selection, meal was served piping hot. Our two dogs were with us and that was not a problem. Staff were lovely.

Well what can I say, great service. Friendly staff. food was excellent. All home cooked by the owners 😋. Very good value for money. Dog area provided as some people don't like dogs around when eating. Highly recommend 👌

Called in for a quick lunch en route to a funeral. Staff were friendly and the pub inviting. Food was excellent. The large ploughman's platter was not large - it was huge. It's not far from home for us so I'm sure we will call in again when passing by with rumbling tummies.

Don't bother with this pub. So looking forward to an important family occasion. But no nice welcome from staff. Food not great and overpriced. Bad atmosphere, and it should have been so nice in a delightful village!

First visit here and it was really good. It was based around the carvery (for Christmas pre booked meal) which I was a little worried about but needn't have been as the quality of the vegetables was excellent. I had vegetarian option instead of turkey and that too was excellent. Very reasonably priced and the place was full (on a Wednesday lunch time). Service was efficient and friendly.

We found this pub quite by chance but are very glad that we did. Service and food was really excellent. The menu is very much pub classics but there is enough variety to satisfy all requirements. There were also a number of specials which looked really appealing. I had the chicken curry whilst my partner had fish and chips. Both were excellent. There was also a great range of beers and wines with two real ales and a number of lagers. Well worth a visit. We will be back when in the area.

Fab food and great service with fun people too. A very wide range of lovely meals always served hot and with one of my favorite meals liver and bacon.

We were readily accommodated as an early booking for three, and served in order. One person’s gluten free requirements dealt with without fuss or delay. Service was impeccable, food of a high standard and toilets immaculate. If we ever venture on holiday to this area again we shall eat here.

We were staying in the area and walked here from our lodge. Good selection of food on the menu, I'm vegetarian and had plenty of choice. As the weather was good we sat outside, a pleasant garden area with plenty of seating. Friendly, efficient service and we would return.

Lovely carvery. Choice of 4 meats and plenty of veg options. Can help yourself to as many or as little veg. Lovely yorkshire pudding, stuffing and even a pig in blanket. All sauces on the table. Dessert was the best. Would definitely come back.

Our first visit and it will not be our last.!! Great Sunday Carvery ...4 choices of meat, loads of veggies, yorkies, stuffing and tasty rich gravy. The pub was very busy which is usually a good sign and we wasn’t disappointed. Friendly staff, great service. Reasonable priced and delicious food. As soon as we arrived we were shown our table and our drinks order was taken. Once our friends arrived our food order was taken. Did not have to wait long for a food. The seafood platter was delicious. Very enjoyable evening.

Regular Sunday lunch haunt... From phone call to finishing up - altogether perfect service! Consistently good roast with three or four options each time and soo many veggies to choose from! Get's our vote.

8 of us went for a family meal on Tuesday evening and really enjoyed our evening out!! Good food and lots of options! Not many places ask for you to cut and check to see if you’re happy with your steak before eating!! We recommend the chicken curry and sweet and sour prawns!! Decent home cooked food and worth every penny! Staff were super friendly and attentive and pub is dog friendly! We will be coming here again for a meal out whilst on holiday! We recommend to all!

We visited The Admiral Hood for lunch today. Lovely warm Welcome from Cath and the staff. Slow cooked belly pork was really tender and delicious, as was the veg. Also Would highly recomend for any one looking for gluten free options, plenty of choice. Cath only to pleased to help with choices.

On arrival a friendly welcome from Kath. We shared a starter of creamy garlic mushrooms which came with a side salad garnish plus bread and butter to mop up the yummy sauce. For our mains, although the menu is varied the specials board took our fancy, slow roast belly pork served with a choice of chips, mash or new potatoes, plus vegetables or salad. Lovely and moist with fabulous crackling, a nice large piece meant I had to get a doggy bag. No room for pud for me, but hubby had chocolate fudge cake which came with a choice of cream, ice cream or custard, again a large serving. All good value for money. Joined in conversation with some of the friendly locals, hope to see them again soon.

We called in on the off chance of a table ,on the way to the supermarket.We were welcomed warmly by a young lady called Chloe.Honestly ,she made us feel so at home,even though they were busy ,she didnt make us feel rushed at all.I had a delicious curry which included both rice and chips,popadoms,naan bread and mango chutney.I have nothing but praise for the food and service and most certainly be returning soon.

On booking the Admiral Hood for their Sunday carvery we were offered 12 or 6, so we chose 6, on arrival we were shown to our seats, at this time we were the only people in a very small eating area. We ordered drinks then waited almost an hour to order, on asking about the carvery we were told oh carvery is at lunchtime ..... but you can have a roast...... our son ordered a chicken burger & trimmings, when it eventually came it was a cold roll with a chicken breast with no skin also cold, with grated cheese & cold bacon on top ..... vile. Considering the small amount of people to serve food is very mediocre & service is appallingly slow ..... don’t bother go elsewhere.

Had a really delicious meal out at The Admiral Hood today. Our First meal out since lockdown. Great, friendly and efficient service. Felt really relaxed and really COVID safe. Dealt excellently with all of our special dietary needs and made our first trip out since lockdown a real pleasure. Will be back again soon.

Having heard good reports of the Hood my wife and I went for lunch today. We took the precaution of ringing to book to be told although they were very busy we could be fitted in around noon. We arrived punctually and ordered seabass and liver/bacon. Both dishes arrived promptly were hot and proved to be very tasty as well as excellent value for money. Service was friendly and efficient and the restaurant filled steadily over the lunch time.

Visited the pub for lunch today with a cycling group of 10. We got caught in a downpour just before we arrived and were all wet and cold. The pub and staff were extremely hospitable and helpful on what was a busy lunchtime. Our food was served promptly and was excellent. The 2 people that ordered the Steak & Kidney pudding said it was as good as they have ever had. Thank You for looking after us so well. It was most appreciated.

We visited The Admiral Hood for the evening with friends and we all expected to go for the evening! Drink, food, coffee, chill, chat with a glass of wine! Whilst enjoying our meal, things started to be cleared from our table. Whilst eating our sweet and having coffee .... our glasses were cleared! During coffee everything else was cleared. Before we totally finished our meal the bill was placed on the table. We felt totally rushed so we paid our bill and got our coats on and left. We arrived at the Admiral Hood at 7.15pm, we had three courses and we left at 8.45pm!What a dissapointment!Not sure we will be back. I want to go out for the evening not an hour or two!Disappointed.

Just returned from another visit to the Admiral Hood . Visiting with two friends ,fitted us in last minute although very busy , food was excellent ,couldnt fault the service .The staff always friendly and helpfully .If you are looking for something a little bit special I highly recommend this place .

18 people booked but the pub made room for 20 members of Crewkerne U3A walking group who parked in the car park, went for a walk and came back to a bustling welcome from a great team of people.

Visited with friends and found a lovely welcome great food and a proper country pub atmosphere. We had a super evening.

We thought we might have arrived too early, about 11.50am, and we were the only car in the carpark, but all was well. It was open and we had a warm welcome. A decently printed menu with all the favourites along with a Specials board. There is a Concessions price, which was popular with the locals that piled in minutes after us! A lot of the tables had been reserved but we were seated next to a radiator, of which we were grateful as it was a cold autumn day. We didn't wait long for our meal (roast of the day) and it was served piping hot with separate vegetables. I had the large plate and my friend had the smaller plate. We were both full when we had finished with no room for another course. Our drinks (both halves) were added to the bill, which was a very agreeable £20 and a few pennies. The Landlady and Mary (who was serving at table) were very friendly and professional. This is not the first time I have eaten here and it certainly won't be the last.

Our first visit to The Admiral Hood on pie night. We were so very pleased with everything. It was very busy, but well organised. A lovely atmosphere. The food was excellent. I had fish pie, my other half had steak and ale pie. A big selection of vegetables, beautifully cooked. I cannot praise it enough. Will definitely visit again on pie night.

Went to visit relatives down South, and was recommended by friends to try the food at the Admiral Hood.Booked a table for 4, and even though we were early arriving for our booking the table was ready. We were delighted to find a very varied menu, with lots of fish dishes, which is great as my wife is a non meat eater. All four of us said it was truly the best food we had eaten at a restaurant. Every dish was superbly cooked and we all enjoyed our night out immensely.

We had the fish & chips, prawn cocktail garlic toast, garlic mushrooms, lamb, chicken and steak burger. Everyone loved their meal. Honestly it was the best lamb I have ever had in my life. Great service. Reasonable prices. Sufficient parking. Clean. We will definitely be back.

Quite busy for a mid September Monday. Comfortable welcoming pub with friendly staff. It's spacious inside and seating comfortable. Large menu at good prices. Beer excellent. My wife had roast of the day as a smaller portion. Plenty of well cooked beef with good veggies. She couldn't clear the plate. I had a trio of fish which was fresh and well cooked. Highly recommended.

A place l will definitely go to again. So often l find the vegetables undercooked, these were perfect. The steak and kidney pudding was delicious. And the pavlova, wow homemade meringue. Honest pub food from the topshelf!

This is a nice old British pub and the staff were nice and friendly. The service was good and the prices fairly standard for the area and type of fun. The food though wasn’t good. The fish, scampi and chips were frozen and bland. The curry was ok but no better than you can cook at home and the rice was over cooked. The ploughmans was good but a very small portion for nearly a tenner. I reckon it’s much better on certain meals and we may have been unlucky with our choices.

We had the sunday carvery this weekend and it was very good and very well priced, the staff could not do enough for you. I will be booking again very shortly
