Came in here for a quick lunch whilst on holiday in the area. Fun American decor and great food and service to match. Kids menu also very good. Would definitely recommend.

Visited for dinner, our favourite place in Dunoon. Great service and food as always. I had the steak and chicken Fajita's huge portion. So good we went back again the next night.

Fantastic service and amazing tasty food! Big portion sizes and great value for money. Brilliantly imitates an American restaurant giving you that southern American atmosphere.

Delicious food and friendly staff. As expected décor is Americana and this combined with the unobtrusive music lends to a great atmosphere.

We visited here for my birthday while staying in the area. Wow great service staff were really friendly. Big portions as well. Prices aren't to bad either. We booked the table as there was 6 of us. Will defo be back if ever in dunoon again

Wow!! Food was outstanding!! Wasn’t expecting much when we came but totally blown away! Portions are huge! We had 2 starters and 2 mains, so home with a massive doggy bag! Would highly recommend everything we tried! Garlic mushrooms Salt and chilli wings Spaghetti Carbonara Pulled pork Quesadilla Tremendous! Def give it a try! I’ve had to be really picky I would have liked a little longer between courses as portions are large!

Last here Sep 2023 and this was our first choice to eating out on our more recent visit to Dunoon. Were certainly not disappointed. (again) Great value and spoilt for choice. All 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Super fast friendly service. Can't wait to return

Went for home made Sunday roast. Was the best roast we have had. Everything was homemade and freshly cooked. Large portions and offered extra if we wanted. The staff were friendly polite and a great asset.

Have enjoyed tasty family meals in the 51st State before but this time we were downstairs in La Cantina where they hosted a wonderful pizza and milkshake lunch for my daughter's 10th birthday. We couldn't have asked for a better experience; we were warmly welcomed, so well looked after throughout and the food was delicious as always. Hugely grateful to all - Management, Service and Kitchen - for such a fab afternoon and happy memories. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What a lovely little place!! Food was beautiful, we had the spaghetti bolognese and the chilli dog, both were amazing and thoroughly enjoyed. Loved the theme of the restaurant and the posters were really interesting, some lovely touches throughout. Stopped for lunch and all ordered (different) wrap meals. Came with chips and a small bowl of salad. Food was decent and tasty with well filled wraps of chicken, bacon or the various other fillings chosen. Room is US diner themed and nice enough but unfortunately we were sat opposite a propped open door with cold wind blowing in.

Me and my fiancee visited and it was the highlight of our visit in Dunoon, the food was amazing but the service was even better!! We both work in hospitality and the waitress Alison absolutely blew us away with her service, we will definitely be back just to see her!

Firstly, if want to eat here you need to book. Secondly it's marevllous. The drink and food menu are extensive, there's a good atmosphere and the staff are really good. One of my sons lives in Dunoon and it's his restaurant of choice.

Food, value, staff were all excellent. Not a single negative thing to say, much more than you would expect from an American style Diner and the food was beautifully prepared and delicious. As per other reviews, this restaurant appeared busy all day during weekends and holiday times so booking in advance is essential.

We'd been let down at the first restaurant we booked, so called the 51st State and were lucky enough to find them not too busy. We were given a warm welcome on arrival and quickly received drinks followed by a generous portion of nachos. Our steaks were delicious and cooked to perfection. They were accompanied by large portions of fries. It's very rare that I refuse a dessert, but I really couldn't manage one, despite the tempting menu. Thank you 51st State: you saved our evening, which was the last of our holiday in Argyll and Bute!

The friend I ws with couldn't eat her food as it 'tasted old' and wasn't right at all apparently. No apology and not even offered a reduction in the bill. Mine was pretty average too. It was during eat out to help out but still, you guys need to be fighting for every bit of repeat business that comes through the door and unfortunately you won't be getting it from us, such a shame as I actively support local business where possible.

We went here for lunch today, the staff are sooo welcoming. We had a mixture from the menu, brother in law had the fish (Well impressed) sister in law had the chicken strips and fell in love with the honey, mustard cream dressing, husband had quesadillas, loved it, I had the roast beef dinner, absolutely superb!!! We are on holiday in the area, and popped in here for lunch on a rainy day. We were more than happy with the Covid measures that are in place, we have no issues with using hand sanitiser upon entering (I'd be worried if this wasn't the done thing!) My husband had a pizza, which he said was delicious, my panini was very tasty, and my two young children each had macaroni cheese (and said it was better than Daddies homemade macaroni, which broke his heart a little bit, but he tried some and agreed it was delicious!) Desserts were great, and portion sizes very generous, we were all stuffed! We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the staff were very helpful.

Where to start? Booked a table in advance as assumed this was the way things had to be done post-COVID. Was told on the phone we would be put in the Cantina downstairs - not given an option. Upon arrival we were told to splash on the free hand sanitiser before we were allowed to advance through the barrier. Went downstairs into what could only be described as the stock room, with spare chairs piled up and rolls of what looked like carpet strewn on the floor. Despite there only being 1 other table in use, we were offered a table right by the OPEN back door which was freezing. Before even sitting down we were asked again if we had used the hand sanitiser and offered a drink, but not a drinks menu. Not offered or told about any menu specials. Only 5 people now in the whole downstairs room - atmosphere was dreadful, no music apart from the constant pinging of the microwaves from the kitchen (does not bode well). Could see no reason why we could not have sat upstairs. Once the other table had left it was just the two of us to fend for ourselves. Starter of chicken wings arrived quite quick, decent enough sized portion and a wee salad bowl to go with it (along with free hand wipes). Not bad, but not drastically exciting. Served on a baking tray with a sheet of grease proof paper which drives me mad, give me a real plate!! Orders of Coca Cola were as flat as pancakes - no fizz at all. Main course also subsequently arrived quite quickly, but we were not offered sauce, condiments or “anything else with our meal”, or any (flat) drink top-ups. Had to ask for salt and vinegar once the server showed his face again. Rack of ribs served, yet again on a baking tray and greaseproof paper (aaggghhh - gimme a plate!!), but also slathered with the same BBQ sauce as my chicken wing starter, and accompanied by another identical salad bowl (sadly no hand wipes with the ribs - which were needed). Husbands chicken was ALSO drowned in the same bbq sauce, can only assume they had a job lot and covered everything with it. Portion sizes were perfectly adequate and chips were lovely, but can’t help feeling disappointed and bit short-changed by the whole meal. Food quite bland and not the best we’ve ever had. Customer service could have been a bit more attentive and friendly. Shame, I had high hopes for this place, but didn’t even want to hang around long enough for a dessert ( just in case it was drowned in the same bbq sauce!).

The restaurant is much smaller than it appears to be in the pictures. We are upstairs(ground level), this is the American diner part, downstairs in the basement is the Italian restaurant but I think they share the same menu. I had salmon and prawn tagliatelle, was ok but not wow that's lovely, husband had the ribs and were great, son had a 9 inch calzone pizza, perfectly cooked and delicious. Would recommend and return.

Clearly a busy and popular eatery. Luckily, we called in at 3.30 pm so there was a table free but all tables were booked for the early and late evening slots. We opted for nachos starter and wraps for mains. All delicious and two full wraps for the main. Was expecting a wrap cut in half so very pleasantly surprised. As our eyes were bigger than our bellies we each had a wrap to go. As an anniversary dinner goes very pleased. Great service and care taken considering current restrictions and to add to the great experience they are participating in the Eat Out To Help Out scheme. All round ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great wee place in Dunoon, visited with kids. Burgers and milkshakes were brilliant, friendly staff, very welcoming. Covid precautions were no trouble at all, great to get some normality, really enjoyed our visit 100% will be back.

The food and service was absolutely fantastic. Great king prawn salad and my burger and chips was the best I’ve had since who knows when. Very good COVID practices too. Will be back soon
