That 60's Place in Isle of Wight

Only stopped for coffee but have to say it is the best I have had on our holiday so far. Highly recommend.

Terrible food - when we complained the customer service was non-existent. Would never go back to this place, not until under new ownership.

We visited this place while on holiday. One of the children had to change what they wanted due to no chicken goujons which sometimes can't be helped another child ordered burger which we were informed doesn't come with fries and was just the burger itself which is way over priced for just a burger on its own. The children's meal arrived and they ate all before the 2 adults meals had come meaning the kids had eaten before we had even had our meals. The meals were nice but over priced. The staff were friendly

This was a really interesting place with all the memorabilia. We were attracted to eat there because of this but can honestly say that was the best steak sandwich I’ve ever had. Very tasty.

My husband recently passed away before he could use the voucher that he received for his 40th birthday. I spoke with a lovely member of staff who said it would be fine to use with my children as they were extending vouchers due to the break down of their pizza oven. 5 minutes later the poor girl returned to our table to tell me that the managers were refusing to honour the voucher. I’m absolutely stunned and amazed at the lack of compassion from a place that we’ve used regularly. The behaviour of this local business is disgusting. To take someone’s money and then refuse to honour something in these circumstances is beyond despicable.

Food poor, service worse, expensive, I'm very fair in my reviews but couldn't find one positive here, even the one toilet available for customers was dirty and obviously not monitored for cleanliness, sorry to say this because I truly support local I dependant businesses but this place needs improvement all round.

Lovely quirky place, really lovely breakfast's. BUT have now called here three times in the past three weeks and no Guinness!, come on my husband can't be the only person that drinks the stuff!, so we didn't stay.

Haven’t been to Cowes for a while so came across this funky place in the high street. Decided to have the city breakfast . Yum! They also cooked my sausage and bacon how I wanted it. Very good presentation, and quirky surroundings, took some pics. Service was quick and attentive, the only quibble is the menu said ‘thick slice toast’ but came with regular sliced toast, was hoping for a thick doorstep slice, which is why 4 not 5 stars. Despite that went back for brekkie the next day too.

We booked to go to That 60’s place for my birthday meal. We have been before and previously had an acceptable experience, with reservations on some aspects. However tonight we were very disappointed. Firstly we ordered the Rose wine, one of just two on the wine list only to be told that they were out of stock so we ordered an alternative, plus a bottle of red. Our waiter then arrived with our wine and four champagne flutes and said that unfortunately they had no red or white wine glasses. What professional would offer you red wine in a champagne flute. We decided that if they could not even supply a suitable wine glass, there was no way we could trust them to produce a meal, so we left and won’t be returning. A very amateur establishment. We are locals but won’t be returning,

Went to That 60's Place for my best friends birthday! Last time we went it was amazing foot was great and couldn't fault the service. Today however, was a shambles! We rang and booked a table, this wasn't ready for when we arrived, waiting 20 mins till we were asked if we wanted drinks, they then took another 15 mins to get to us, then we were asked what we would like for our meal. About 30 minuets later our 3 meals out of 4 arrived. Waited another 10 mins and asked where the burger was to which they came out with the wrong burger. The waiter tried to argue with us that is was the right one but it wasn't. They brought out a Vegan Burger when we asked for Garlic Chicken Burger. There were two ladies behind us and claimed that it was theirs but ordered two and wasn't sure where the other one was. We were told the burger wouldn't be much longer, roll on another 20 minuets, we could even hear the chef arguing with each other which we thought was highly unprofessional. My friend ended up having to take it home in a take away box because the rest of us had finished and their young baby was starting to get restless. The waiter offered to take the meal off the bill after i complained. The only excuse he could give was that it was busy. Apologies if this was busy but i work in the hospitality industry and having 4 tables in isn't busy. After this experience I will find it hard to return especially when our meal came to just over £50 and none of us enjoyed our meal.

The best place on the Isle of Wight to enjoy food, drinks and a lovely atmosphere! The food is delicious, there is a lovely garden area where the Resident DJ plays! Steve and Zoe are sooo amazing, we watched them make sure everyone had everything they needed. Very welcoming, you really must visit and enjoy! Michele

Our family went for a meal as we had got a voucher however we were told when we went to pay that we couldn't use it. The following day we contacted the people involved with the voucher and they asked for the receipt. We contacted the restaurant and they said they would email a copy to us. Later they said we had not been in we told them the people that were in while were there to prove we were there. Now to the meals. Two out of three were fine but the fish and chips could have been better. The chips were frozen oven chips that had been fried not efficiently not very nice. The attitude to a complaint with this company is treated with contempt. We were told the offer had been discontinued but it was still advertised.

Visited this restaurant with my two older teens, as they were impressed with the decor. It’s style over substance, I ordered mussels and they were tough and chewy, and inedible, the sauce was bland. Other dishes, were ok, just ok.

First of all this place is really cool with it's film and music from the sixties based interior. Nice place for a drink, but we were there for the food. How was it? Well, My Special One had the Moules Frites, and she loved it. The Kids enjoyed their burger and fish and chips. So all good there. I had the sirloin steak. It was ok, but nothing special really. Beer selection was poor, they didn't have Fanta, and was out of Sprite. Oh well. I'm going with four points on this one. Good, but not great.

Great place to eat. The two girls who served behind what was one of the coolest bars I've seen really friendly and kind. Lived this place for its character and fun 60s feel to it. We all had pizza and easnt expecting 12inches! So another bonus. Good was lush and cocktails where good too. Prices all resealable. Outdoor sitting which is fab. Lots of room and it had a live DJ. If I lived here this would have been my local for sure.

Beautiful sunny day. Do we sit at the front, by Dr Who, on the balcony or in the beer garden with the Beatles and Elton. Fantastic place and a sunny garden in Cowes. Excellent. Staff great and lovely chill out. And by the way at the front watching the world go by!

We had just arrived on the Island and came here for lunch. Unfortunately we could not sit outside as there was no spare tables but we sat inside instead. As it was busy our food took a while to arrive. Unfortunately my husband's meal arrived first (from the BBQ outside) and we had to wait a while for our pizzas. By the time our food arrived, my husband had finished his. However the food was lovely.

Been a few times having popped to cowes by boat, always a fantastic menu on offer and fantastic service. Roasts amazing, burgers amazing , and today bbq , pizza, and nachos .Best pizza and burger!!! Great afternoon today in the new garden chilled out with Dj playing music from all genres. Consistently fabulous you really have to visit you won’t be disappointed.

Fab place to hang out, went on a Wednesday evening and they had karaoke. Locals getting up to sing, great atmosphere.

Drank in here many many times as a local & always bring friends from the main land here when visiting. Easter weekend was a treat with a great atmosphere & live music, the staff are always friendly & never had a bad meal. The unusual funky theme makes it a great little find for a drink in Cowes.

Astonishingly good roast beef Sunday lunch enjoyed by three generations of our family. So much beef, tender, meltingly tasty, perfect roast potatoes, carrots, French beans and leeks in the most delicious gravy and sauce. We could not believe how delicious it was. The perfect Sunday roast will always be the one we had at That 60s place. Staff very friendly but not 'in our faces'. Fabulous table position on first floor with glass doors slid back so virtually 'al fresco' on this gorgeous sunny day. Highly, highly recommended and hugely grateful to have found such an amazing restaurant on our lovely island home. We will be back every Sunday we can!!

We ate here today and found the whole Experience really good. From the minute we arrived we were attended to in a professional and Friendly manner The food we had was really excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the staff who looked after us.

A family of Ten of us were wondering around cowes banking holiday weekend on Sunday evening. It was very quiet and very little was open. We came across this place. What a great find. We all had different meals, chicken roast, child’s pizza, Caesar salad, grilled fish, meatball el Forno, a blue cheese Gorgonzola pizza, dirty fries. All was tasty,fresh great quality. You can see the pizza’s being made by hand.

This place is very quirky. The decor is fab and the staff were super helpful and very good with the children. The service was attentive and the drinks generous and well presented. We didn't eat here, but did consider it, just the timing was wrong for us. I would certainly go back here again.

We dropped in with our two sons aged 11 and 13 and had a great night. The decor and set up is fantastic and there is so much to look at (and remember). We had a great meal and loved the burgers and pasta as well as tbe interesting drinks menu.

Just been to That60splace in Cowes for Sunday Lunch and it was fab. The food, the gravy the service- the homemade dessert the beer and the coffee, all spot on. Top ingredients simply cooked very well, top service, the lady serving us was so good, and nothing was too much trouble. With a local voucher we feel all this for under a tenner we had the bargain of the century!!! At fill price mind with the food and service which really were 10 out of 10 would still have been amazing. We will return soon and if you dont try your simply missing out, dont walk passed thinking there is better in Cowes High St as you'd be wrong!

First time at the restaurant and we loved it. Fantastic decor, the staff are lovely and the food was excellent. Check out the loos too- brilliant. Great concept. Highly recommended it.

Stopped here midweek for a burger with friends and family.

Just went there and had 2 burgers and dirty fries. Absolutely amazing, really delicious. The decor and theme is really cool too. Come for the novelty of the restaurant and return time and again for the fantastic food and friendly staff.

I was here a couple of weeks ago with my son and partner.

The food here was excellent. Good size portions. Went for Valentines meal and there was a choice of 3 items for each course, including a vegetarian option. A bottle of wine and a glass of Prosecco were included in the set price. Decor is great. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

My wife and I went there for a Valentine's Dinner evening. Great special menue. The food was superb and very adequate quantity. Attentive and friendly service. Would not hesitate to go there again and recommend to friends.

Myself and two girlfriends called in here on a bitterly cold day in November 2018.

Visited this place on 3 separate occasions and waited approx. 15 mins each time to be served, even went to the bar to order and was told to take a seat and someone would be with this. This never happened.

My wife and I thought it might be a good idea to go here after I walked by it during one lunchtime, it was packed and had a very vibrant atmosphere and I thought it’s gotta be worth a punt, we came back in the evening on a Friday evening and I wasn’t disappointed at all, the staff were friendly and helpful the food was very good, all in all a good night out.

I was drawn to this unusual place, the bar is a stunning idea. Ordered a cocktail - boring! - not even a VW logo stirring stick as a momento, staff locked bored and even though I was by myself no welcome chat and company I just sat alone. A little bit of effort and maybe I would have tried another.

Lots of memorabilia which appealed to all ages in our party(from 15 -71). Sat upstairs and very pleased with decor and furniture. Staff very polite and helpful and kept asking if everything was ok, but without being a nuisance. Food very nice, very filling and reasonably priced. Good to see something different in Cowes. Hope they do well in the future.

We are still smiling after our delicious lunch here today to celebrate my Mum and Dad's Golden Wedding Anniversary. The atmosphere was fab and the lovely Alice couldn't have done more to make it a day my parents will never forget. The food was just beautiful, the restaurant is so very quirky and the staff were very attentive, even though it was very busy! Well worth a visit! We'll be back Thank you so much x

Visually impressive from the outside with a supporting website, looks good, thought we'd book for Saturday night, rang booked a table and enquired about the Live Music advertised and asked its start time and we planned our meal in conjunction with the entertainment, arrived and was shown to our table, not sure if its a result of poor management or a unachievable workload, the waitress was polite, but was clearly pulled from pillar to post with bar/kitchen /restaurant arrangement, although the restaurant was full upstairs, help and assistance were not forthcoming, causing the waitress to flit from task to task instead of real table service and time the price reflects.Our meals were served hot and adequate, minus a dressing for my partners salad, which we eventually went to the kitchen ourselves as the waitress was either busy or vacant from the restaurant and no other was available.

Called in on a wet Sunday morning for coffee and cake. Enjoyed looking at the memorabilia .service was great, coffee was good and having looked at the reasonably priced menu we will return for a meal. It brightened our morning.

We visited enticed in by the design of this bar restaurant. The staff were very helpful and there is a very good selection of craft beers. The food was good without being exceptional but the surroundings and decor made it for us. Worth a visit just for that. Give it a go.

Called in midweek - we were the only customers but there is so much genuine memorabilia to look at including a very scary Dalek and cyber man! Both had a Rosti dish which was delicious. Will have to try one evening.

We had a ball last Saturday night. This place has a buzzy atmosphere and with live music, we had a great meal and party singing along and dancing to the tunes afterwards. Lovely staff; very patient with our orders as we were 16 with so many different orders. Everyone enjoyed their food too. Highly recommend a night here and wish there was another branch in Walton-on-Thames where we all live. We only wish the music licence went on later. Thank you Alice and all your staff for looking after us and to Greg for providing the live music. You have a great business and wish you lots of success.

Lovely atmosphere, good pizza, relax and friendly. Decor was excellent and very entertaining, can’t wait to go again.

This was around the corner from where we stayed. Really creative and cool inside with lots to look at. Really nice cocktails although it was a shame there weren't any deals to make it a bit cheaper....or maybe we just missed out on these. Would recommend a visit.

This place is such a fun and interesting place to spend time . Staff are so friendly and owner very hands on and approachable. Coffee or cocktail? We had both and they were the best I’ve tasted in a long while . The decor is fab and if your a DR Who fan you must go to the loo !!! We had a laugh and it was definitely a highlight of our trip to Cowes will definitely be back when we can .

We popped into Cowes with friends and spotted a VW camper van that had been converted into a bar that was in a building. We strolled in for a coffee and was greeted by some really friendly staff members. The coffee was amazing as were the 60s photos and memorabilia on the wall which included a guitar signed by two members of The Who. There were other great props like a full size Dalek and Cyberman... I'm not easily impressed as I mentioned to one of the owners, but this place blew me away. The girls went back shortly after for a tasty cocktail. Keep up the good work!

The whole meal was fantastic in a brilliant atmosphere and my personal favorite was the onion rings which were to die for would recommend to anyone

Really nice sixties vibe (signatures from Beatles, the Who etc). I ordered a chilli dish and my family had a pizza which was all really lovely, Can definitely recommend as something a bit different. Beware of the Cyberman by the loos

had a lush meal ( rosti).. also ordered a cheese platter which was strange..was a board of different cheeses, chutney, walnuts and grapes but no crackers or anything to put your cheese on. quite slow service and a bit weird. not the cleanest of places no tables wiped. waitress sat on laptop while waiting for orders..could have been cleaning. would go again but very unorganized.

We walked up and down the High Street in Cowes for ages looking for a very late lunch venue and thought this looked different enough to give it a try. Lovely retro 60s feels bright and cheerful. We were the only people there, so were surprised that our pizza and fries took longer than expected to arrive - an indication is was all home made? Music was nice - 60s I assumed, but wasn't entirely sure. It was a nice experience, and likely to be more atmospheric with lots of people and more hustle and bustle, I would be prepared to go back at some other time of day to check it out.

We came in at 12:15, attracted by the look and alternative vibe of the place. The music is superb and the decor almost interesting enough to give you something to look at whilst you wait...and you do, sadly, wait. It took over half an hour to take our order, another hour to serve. This was all simple, on menu stuff, we did not even venture onto the specials. Also a pain was not bringing all of our meals at once, and having an out of order loo. So, in summary - food great when it landed, but the wait was inexplicable!

We always try to experience a different place for food when we boat over from Hamble. Ths intrigued us because of the VW bar and general decor (which is great). This time we tried it, what a mistake that was. The starters were ok-ish but poor value. The mains were not good at all. We'd go for a drink, but never again for food...... We had three generations of one family and we all felt disappointed.

Only came in for a drink (it's a bar as well as a restaurant) but nice people made us feel at home and great way to start a few nostalgic conversations. A bit more privy than local bars but quirky surroundings, staff and atmosphere are worth it

I love this place! It has a great atmosphere, fantastic decor and plays the best music. The staff are lovely and the prices were good! Great cocktail menu. We didn’t have food here so I can’t comment on that but it’s a lovely place to stop for some drinks, we would recommend!

We stopped in here to explore the unusual decor and we decided to stay for some food. We liked the toilets made to look like The Tardis and the funky big chairs upstairs. We sat upstairs and ordered a pizza and a seafood noodles dish. Both were very tasty, especially the pizza which was cooked perfectly and very authentic and moist. My son still raves about the pizza and we will be back to eat another one soon.

Never been here before. I've always admired the chairs and the camper van bar. Top end price but the beer tasted good and the cocktails were lovely. Enjoying the cowes week view from the balcony was a lovely bonus.

Met friends here after getting the waster taxi back from the festival. Brilliant service and really funky surroundings. Great for cocktails and the pizza looked amazing too.

We have been to this bar / restaurant a couple of times and it has so much potential. We were there again late yesterday afternoon (22nd July).

Ordered 4 Expresso Martini’s and 2 Mojito’s after queuing for 10 minuted, and were told they would bring them over.

Wandered in here on a nice sunny afternoon in Cowes, as it was late afternoon it was pretty quiet.

3 nearby pubs so interesting pricing policy. 5.90 for a pint of Peroni.

My friend and I had seen an ad for this place on the Ferry on our way over. So the VW Campervan had already been firmly placed in her mind. We found it during a stroll though Cowes with my 2 little dogs.

No you read the title right and no I wasn’t tipsy when I say you’ll be amazed about the doctor who aspects!

What a wee gem this is. The bar is a former VW microbus Brazilian taxi converted to look gorgeous. There are lots of pop paraphernalia and a dalek in a corner. Loved it!

Decent menu, good looking place. BUT: overpriced drinks and food, and shocking service from here. NOT a tapas bar, not even close. Also, if you're marketing yourself as a 60's place, why have Gangster rap blaring out? Not the best, but a good looking place. Certainly has something about it - must try harder though

I had friends visiting so they suggested we try this place - worst decision.

On entering we asked for vegetarian to be told to take a seat could do plenty of vegetarian. Were given menus but nothing vegetarian on them. Lad who was watering didn’t come back to let us know what was available. Waiting for assistance which didn’t arrive until the waiter came to take order, we still didn’t know what was available as vegetarian. We left.

Easy to spot as you wander around the town centre with its distinctive split screen VW camper inside. This have been converted to the serving area. Outside there is a large want oak table set onto scaffold legs. Inside has similar quirky addition that all add to a great quirky setting.

Most resuturants now have printed info listing which allergens appear in each dish but this place didnt have anything like that when we asked. Instead the waitress/manager(?) seemed to guess what was in the dishes which didn't fill us with confidence amd we didnt purchase meals for those with allergies as can't take that risk with life threatening allergies.

We visited That 60’s Place on a Friday afternoon for some late lunch, who were happy to accommodate even out of the advertised kitchen hours. It is a unique spot and really stands out on the Cowes high street with a very cool Volkswagen van come bar down stairs, tonnes of 60’s music memorabilia lining the walls and quirky decor throughout with some especially funky seats on the upstairs balcony!

Nice meal in a very cool place, our kids loved it. Some things weren’t available which was a little disappointing but service was friendly and the tardis toilets were a great novelty!!

I ordered the pancake with chicken and cheese. It took a very long time to arrive and when it did it was dried out, the chicken pieces like pebbles and the cheese rubbery. We were in a rush to catch a water taxi so had to pay the bill and rush off with no time to dispute the quality of the food.

Lovely food and drink in a fab location, staff have always been lovely when I have been in. This weekend my friend and I were lucky enough to nab the fab face chairs upstairs and the food was the best yet!

Just had a wonderful meal here today. We all had the roast beef. Presentation was excellent and it tasted as good as it looked. All the staff were helpful and really friendly. The chef, Michael came out to speak to us which I thought was a nice touch. He recommended we try a special dessert which was equally as delicious as the main course. Can't wait to go back. The menu is varied and lots of interesting dishes we want to go back and enjoy. Thank you again. Recommend this to all to go and try.

We came here because the kids loved the VW van (restyled as the bar) and then discovered that the loos were modelled as the Tardis. The main menu is overpriced although the kids' menu is value for money. Service leaves an awful lot to be desired and the food that came was not as ordered... and even then the chicken was as dry as cardboard. They did manage to serve decent chips though. Very much style over substance.

We made a great choice. We had a vegetarian. Breakfast. It was cooked beautiful. Great. Customer service. As well very helpful. We. We're. Impressed. With all the records on the wall and memorabilia. As well we will. Love. To come back again. Soon

Lovely little bar with great atmosphere, only ruined by the ?'Manageress'? constantly flirting with all the male customers. Yawn. Think the owners needs to rethink that.

Great place to eat. A little gem full of music memorabilia l. Like a mini Hard Rock Cafe. Really friendly staff and great food all freshly cooked. Cant recommend enough

We stopped off here for a coffee and a bacon muffin mid morning during the Easter holiday. Staff were friendly and food and coffee good. There was a reasonably priced kids lumch menu and the 60's decoration was fab.

Popped in with friends for drinks and ended up sampling a few dishes as they were too tempting ! The dirty chips were great comfort food, tasty burgers and wings - the bus bar is amazing - friendly attentive staff will be back

We went for a wonder around cowes on a Thursday in March. The weather was lovely. We popped in for a quick coffee. We loved the decor.The VW camper is really cool.

The staff are lovely as is the food . The restaurant decor is fabulous. All 60s memorabilia . An extensive cocktail menu . Totally recommend. We will be back

Cycling along with a desire for a coffee and clocked a Vintage VW camper in the Window of this cool cafe ... not disappointed, really cool decor, vintage music memorabilia, music playing and really friendly waiters ..

Visited 2 days running, initially went with a friend and was so impressed went the following day with my husband for his birthday. The setting is wonderful, we sat upstairs amongst 60’s memorabilia with 60’s music playing. The food is really good and do tasty. My husband had the breakfast and said he thinks it is the best one he has ever had. I had the Canadian breakfast with pancakes, maple syrup, bacon and berries so scrumpy. We have walked past here so many times and never ventured in but we are glad we did. Will definitely be going back often.

This café has been designed with love. Even if you don't like the 60s the décor is fascinating and the whole place has been very thoughtfully put together. We enjoyed two visits here during our three-day trip to Cowes. The coffee is great, and the 'bacon rolls for £1' with a hot drink deal is brilliant. We chatted to the owner who said that the chef has been replaced, so I guess that will address some of the problems mentioned in previous reviews. The staff are really friendly and seem to love this place!

A friendly welcome awaits you here, and gluten free is not a problem. The decoration is fabulous - especially the serving bar positioned in a VW campervan. There is also a wonderful collection of 60's memorabilia. On the night we were there we listened to live music from a talented guy with a good voice and guitar.My galette was very tasty and my coeliac husband enjoyed the rosti. Great to see interesting non alcoholic drinks on the menu too,

We popped in for a coffe and some cake on Saturday afternoon on a chilly November day. We enjoyed great coffee , hot chocolate and some fantastic chocolate cake.

What a completely cool place from its unique decor, fantastic memorabilia collection, totally 60s vibe and great atmosphere.

Loved the style but disappointed that whoever organised the artwork forgot all the great female artists in the 60's. Joni, Joan, etc etc where are you?

I agree with previous comments in that the memorabilia is interesting and we had been looking forward to going forward to going to this restaurant for ages. However, this was a really disappointing evening due to the mediocre and overpriced food and cocktails and shocking service. I told the waitress that my prosecco was completely flat. She said she'd replace it. 15 minutes later the bar manager, after chatting to his friends at another table, deigned to bring me a replacement with a half hearted apology. There was a problem with the bill. which was resolved but not in a professional way. The issue with not having a useable customer loo is unforgiveable.

This is the fourth time we have eaten here and up until now we have really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but this visit was not good.

I wish I had read the review below before my visit. The waitressing staff were great but hugely let down by the quality and presentation of the food. Mine was inedible.

We recently booked the restaurant for nine people on a visit to the Island last weekend. I read all the reviews before I booked and one of our group said it was a new restaurant which looked fun.

I absolutely loved this place and could quite happily have sat here all day looking at the memorabilia on the walls. and the tv screen showing Beatles footage. The coffee was lovely, we didn't eat here so unfortunately cant comment on that.
