Like many other reviewers, we were looking for somewhere to eat before going to the Rondo and this was a happy accident. Just when we thought it was going to be supermarket sandwiches, sitting on a kerb, we found the Thali. We all ordered a vegetarian thali and we were all more than happy with our food. Also really enjoyed the cheese skewers which we ordered as a started.

If you are thinking of ordering a takeaway from this restaurant... don't! Choose another one. I can't review the food because after waiting 3 hours and making innumerable phone calls.the food we were looking forward too failed to arrive. I think the restaurant is too small to cope with in house diners and take away. There are many other good Indian restaurants in Bath.. Masala kitchen is good and reliable.

. . quizás hacerlo un fin de semana. Anoche comida terrible, total pérdida de dinero.

I normally get a take away from here, although the option to eat in and BYO is good, but ambience somewhat lacking. I've given 4 stars as mostly it is pretty good, sometimes excellent - but can very in quality. On the occasion that it was excellent I rang to ask if they'd have a different chef on that night, and if he was a permanent fixture! I was told they have the same reicpes, but these are interpreted differently by different chefs. However, I understand the poor reviews as a couple fo times have had really indifferent curries from there and that has put me off. The service can be less than delightful, it's true - but now the main waiter knows me, he's unbent a little! I like it, but would welcome more consistency.

Arrived to collect my takeaway on Saturday26th May approx 7.30pm, only 2 people eating in the restaurant, greeted badly by miserable member of staff, I noticed whilst waiting at the sticky, dirty counter that some ceiling tiles were missing, damaged and in general poor state, wallpaper hanging off in several places, the doors/window to kitchen looked filthy, I stopped looking as I was gradually loosing my appetite. However I thought the food may be good...It was terrible - tasteless, unusual smell, oily and yes you've gusssed I got a dose of Deli belly next day. I'm fairly tolerant with unhygenic Indian restaurants but this one was a stomach upset too far.

Here we have a possible contender for the worst Indian restaurant in the UK. The food is ok, average at best. From the menu I was genuinely excited, but the sauces are watery and meats over cooked - I’ve tried 3 times before reviewing, it’s my local Indian that I want to love, but... The service is chronically bad and rude. They don’t deserve to be in business.

As a new (ish) resident of Larkhall, I am happy to say that this is my local. The food is very tasty, however, I feel the quality is better when dining in, rather than take out. The quality of the Lamb is amazing, especially in a Korma, being creamy in consistency, not oily as in many other Indian restaurants. Having read other reviews, I feel it is wise to mention that this is a tiny local restaurant. Much like a small local pub catering for the “locals” willing to overlook a professional service, Thali will not win in customer service. I find the manager very friendly having visited a number of times. When visiting be mindful but enjoy as the food really is very good!

Wanted a light meal on the way to the theatre so went in and ordered tandoori chicken starter, onion bhajis, poppadoms and a dip tray. Owner came and started to argue with me that I wasn't allowed to order that and had to order a main, despite the fact that my order cost as much as a single main on its own would have anyway. In the end, I left as he was very rude about it. The place was empty and it was a Saturday evening, which says a lot.

I came here for a quick meal on my way to the theatre and so ordered some poppadoms, tandoori chicken starter, and onion bhajis, for a total of just over £10. I decided to have a skim through the reviews on here and literally as I'd finished reading the ones saying about the owner whinging at people for not ordering enough food, the same thing happened to me! He started insisting I had to order main; I didn't want one so decided to save my money and went and got a meal deal from the Co-Op instead. Utterly daft business model, and says a lot when a venue near a theatre is empty at this time on a Saturday night!

First time coming here after a friend recommended it, asked the guy on the phone if it came with poppadoms which every indian I have been too gives out for free (if the order is large enough) he said if I bought two he would give me one for free this point I am expecting the sauces will come free too. Get the takeaway and drive home (2 miles) and find out he hasnt included sauces and the free poppadom is half broken. I ring him up expecting he to be very sorry and he tells me in a very rude and unprofessional tone that is the way it comes and you have to pay for sauces. I laugh at this as this guy is so tight he would rather not give out sauces that cost below a pound. He then tells me to come back and pick it up. I live to far to come back for some sauces so he speaks really quickly and I don't understand a word he is saying and then hangs up the phone. Won't be visiting this place ever again and will be telling everyone I know to avoid this place. If you want a good curry with friendly service this is not the place to go as the manager is too keen on keeping profits up and losses down and he couldn't care less for the potential future customers. I will be surprised if this restaurant lasts 3 months because there wasn't a soul in there when I went to go pick up the takeaway.

We spoke to the owner and he reassured us that we wouldn't be disappointed... Boy was he wrong. Ordered 3 dishes. A chicken bhuna, lamb rogan josh and tharka day. I came with my husband and two small children for an early dinner on Sunday night. We had only booked about half an hour before arriving but the unsmiling waiter/owner had to consult his bookings before directing us to a table. They did not have a high chair at all, which I find disappointing as this is a very easy thing to keep and make the restaurant family friendly. Our table was right next to the counter and as there was no one else there yet the man stood at the counter and stared at us very awkwardly, we didn't feel like we could talk freely.

We were very excited when this Indian opened in the village as we love curries and it is within easy walking distance. On our first visit we were made very welcome by the owner (?) and had a very nice meal. The second visit, we were the only couple in there. However, we were again served by the owner (?) but he couldn't have been less interested in our custom, had his head in front of the Tv on the counter all evening. We went with friends this weekend and hoped for better things. We had booked the table but despite this when we got there although the table was free it was not set up and only had serviettes and 2 abandoned wine glasses. We had to ask for glasses for our drinks despite the bottles being placed on the table. We ordered 7 poppadoms and tray of pickles, however the small dishes were hardly half full. We had to wave the young waiter to ask for more, we were never asked if we needed anything or if everything was ok the whole evening. An hour after sitting down the owner (?) came to us with his pad and just pointed at each of us with either a "you" or a "next" as if we had kept him waiting! I've never been spoken to so abruptly. After clearing the plates for the poppadoms we were finally presented with our cutlery being simply dropped as a set in front of each person. The whole impression was that they were there under sufferance not trying to get a new business off the ground. The madras had no substance and was like chicken in a bland curry sauce, the dum hudy, described as 1/2 chicken could be no more than a 1/4 but was very tasty, as was the dalkitat and the lamb (can't remember the name), however, none were a good size and neither were the portions of rice. Ironically the young waiter came out while we were there with a curry and sat at one of the tables, it must have been about 3 times the size of our portions. My husband said if his had been that size he would have been delighted. I must point out that I and the other lady usually take some home when we go for a curry but had clean plates this time. Potential is very good as the food is good but let down by the size and very poor service and attitude.

We've been meaning to eat here since it opened but have only just got round to it. More fool us. The service was friendly and the food was great - two of us had excellent thalis (one chicken, one paneer) and one had a huge lamb biryani. The two real standouts though were 1) the best bhindi bhaji I've ever had (not at all slimey, as it can sometimes be, the veg here were really fresh and sweet with a nice soft crunch) and 2) the existence of a dedicated children's menu. My two pre-schoolers wolfed down their chilli-free butter chicken with rice. It was good value too. We ate at 6pm because of the children and got 15% off our meal as 'early birds'.

This is a modest, unlicensed (bring your own bottle) local restaurant where food is freshly cooked to order. We had one of the chef's specials and a lamb Thali (a concept new to us.) The special - a chicken dish in a bhuna-like sauce (sorry, forget the name) - was great, though a bit hotter than I usually have. My companion found the lamb overwhelming! It was a huge knuckle, swathed in sauce, with various side dishes, all served on a big tray. Luckily the restaurant manager (owner?) showed him how to manage it by tipping it all on top of the rice. The size of it still defeated him and we ended up taking it home with us. I looked forward to a gulab jamon on the dessert menu but the manager explained he had stopped offering desserts as not many people ordered them. I do hope the Thali will thrive - and not just by takeaways - as we've missed having a "local Indian" in Larkhall.
