Thai Vintage Whitchurch Restaurant in Shropshire

My wife and I went to Thai vintage one freezing cold evening in February. The warm welcome immediately lifted out spirits. Service was very friendly and attentive and the robot was an amusing addition !! We had a starter and main course each. Both of which were very nice. Thoroughly recommend you try this place

Really enjoyed this place, the food was excellent and mobile waiter was great fun. A big place which wasn’t busy, the building is very old and would recommend it as food is really really good

Wow! What a waste of money. 9£ for chicken satay starter that had 3 skewers of paper thin 2 pieces of chicken that was old in bed of old,brown lettuce and definitely microwaved. Curry had old chicken in. And Tom yam soup..3 old mushrooms,that was disgustin and 1 prawn floating in the top. 40£ and can’t even feed one grown up and one child.

We called here for a meal recently. There was a Scottish man serving, he was very good, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food was not so good. We couldn't understand why the rice came out much sooner than the main part of the meal. Also my main course came out way before my friends.

On a Saturday evening out i would have expected more. Service and reception was great - food however not so, as one example my chicken satay was more like Terradactyl, impossible to chew, Thai beef salad was swimming in sauce which made everything soggy......arrived at 6.30 as a group of 6 and asked to leave by 8.15 as the restaurant was closed. heard so much about this place and sadly i am so disappointed. Wont be going back.

Stayed here recently, lovely no frills hotel room, the food was absolutely amazing. Definitely one of the best Thai restaurants in the Uk, believe me I’ve been to a few. Everything was fresh and cooked the authentic way. Well done guys

Three of us visited last night - wow some of the best Thai food have eaten outside of Thailand itself! The brothers who have taken it on to reopen should be proud of the service and food, it was top notch, flavours were incredible in every dish.

Wouldn’t stay there again if you paid me , rooms far too hot , no ventilation apart from a very small skylight that was held open with a metal window garden trough , not one staff member to be seen and no one to contact. Expensive for a tiny hot room . Couldn’t wait to get out

We have per chance fallen upon this Thai gem . We believe only under new ownership for 2 weeks . The food was delicious. Ben our waiter really helpful and kind and his brother an excellent chef. We cannot encourage you strongly enough to give it a try !

We ate here last Friday night and had a fabulous meal! Really tasty food, especially the penang curry and recieved very friendly service 😋 we will definitely be returning!

We booked this restaurant to celebrate our Golden Wedding anniversary. It was awful ! The food was disgusting and service very slow. The children were delighted with the Robot waiter and that was the only positive thing.

Gone right down the toilet. Only 4 people in at 6pm on a Friday and 2 of those knew the owner, so only us. Ordered a cider and a Mango J2O. Neither available so ordered a large bottle of water instead of the cider...got brought a glass of warm tap water and the waiter apologised for the ice melting. Food - £8 for spring rolls? OK I guess, but overpriced. Pad Thai - DISASTER. No peanut, no citrus, served with salad(???), from the same salad bag as the starter. Smelled good but lacked flavour. Chunks of pepper and onion, frozen fluted carrots and frozen green beans. Did have egg at least. Wrong noodles used, NOT pad thai noodles, lumpy mass of tasteless garbage. Wish I'd taken a photo now. Waiter asked how spicy we wanted it? Not an option for Pad Thai, learn your menu. He eventually returned to say we were correct. This place won't be around in 6 months, there's no way they'll survive on this level of custom and quality. Such a shame.

Unfriendly staff. Ordered a takeaway of mixed starters the calamari stank and the chicken skewers were off. Binned the lot. Won’t ever eat here again. Both my partner and I spent hours being sick afterwards and are considering reporting to trading standards.

This place seems to be consistently poor (having been amazing so many years ago). Following a few bad meals we thought we'd give it another go (must keep reminding ourselves not to do this!). We'd already eaten but the Kids wanted take out Phad Thai and curry so we ordered for them from the kids menu. Kids 'very mild' green curry was very spicy even for us when we tasted it. Phad Thai wasn't Phad Thai and made with vermicelli noodles and not flat rice noodles and really greasy, rice was hard and even had clumps of brown skin on like it had either been over microwaved or scraped from the bottom of a rice cooker and the satay chicken was OK but deep fried and the satay sauce was not nice at all. We really need a good local Thai restaurant/takeaway around here. I don't know if these guys realise that many local people know what authentic Thai food should be like having either visited or lived in Thailand or been to the many great Thai restaurants in the UK and now restaurants even quite locally. The place was completely empty on a Saturday night which I think speaks volumes.

Visited on a Wednesday for my Birthday, food was OK but very much average, some of the menus were dirty with food splashes, nothing tasted like it was freshly made from scratch, beef was very tough, no alternative was offered despite mentioning the fact and leaving most of it. Won't be going again.

I loved the room that we were staying in. It was so clean and fresh. The food in the evening was absolutely amazing. Food was so delicious and amazingly presented. The staff were so polite and made us feel really welcome. The chef is so talented in everything she cooked. We will definitely be back again in the near future. Thank you Thai Vintage x

A hidden gem in the heart of Whitchurch, overlooking Jubilee Park. If you like Thai food, you will love this restaurant. Great food, great service and amazing location and they even serve better chips than the local chip shops (Mike). Cannot recommend it enough. And if you are into your tech, the automated service robot will bring a smile to your face.

Arrived without booking 5.30 on saturday evening. Was attended to quickly and seated to our choice of table. Food came with enough time to have a proper conversation and didn't feel rushed. The robot cat-tress was a great experience in itself. Food was amazing, we went for spicy noodles and it was true to request....spicy, had starters as well which were delicious. Beautiful building and nice ambience. We will definately be back soon!! Thanks so much

Restaurant (not even close) not a hotel…Appalling service If you pre order 4 hours in advance you get your order delivered to your table 1.5 hours later… The head chef bullies the poor waiter who was running around serving our table (only table in the restaurant…) Food quality horrific, defrosted lamb shank in the microwave…enough said.

We had take away nibbles.. literally everything from dim sum.. duck.. tempura veg..spring roll..duck and spring onion spring roll.. thai fish cakes.. prawn toast to die for... so tasty.. we were so full... food is fabulous.. Never had a bad meal sitting in either.... Totally different to Chinese menus..so you do really need to know what your ordering.. or just ask.. The duck is divine....... my absolute fave .... hoping to go back very soon Thanks

I'm not quite sure where to begin. We preordered ahead of getting to the restaurant as I'm not from the area and it took 1.5 hours for all of out food to come out. We had family members with half a dish delivered to the table and the rest of their dish 40 mins later - everything went cold. The waiter was a lovely young lad but I really felt for him in these circumstances. Some of our food didn't taste quite right and we asked to look in the kitchen. We were told that the meat and fish had been defrosted in the microwave...she had been closed for 3 weeks prior so nothing was fresh. The food hygiene was questionable to say the least and the service was so bad. It's a shame as it could be really lovely.

Expensive and poor. Visited with my wife & daughter. Two young waiters (one of whom I suspect was on his first night at the establishment) provided a friendly, but poor service. Lagers/beers were reasonably priced by the pint....which were unavailable so we ordered by the bottle which cost £2 (each) more. Food was average. Expensive for the quality and size. Service was slow, and to make things worse, actually brought to the table by robot...pathetic. It was a Saturday evening, remarkably quiet...which on reflection isn't much of a surprise.

Wanted to visit the restaurant for dinner with my wife on Saturday night. Place was beautiful. Clearly a family owned afair and someone had put alot of effort into the decore. Food smelt great on arrival. I appreciate we hadn't booked a table and was just a walk in, however they had 3 other tables filled with guests likely totaling 13 people across the entire restaurant. I went in and waited to be seated in the desigbated spot. When I first went in, the large chap with curly hair at the front desk was on the phone taking a deliver order and made it pretty clear he wasn't going to look at me at all or acknowledge that I was waiting. I didn't mind this particularly at first so I gave the benefit of doubt and waited patiently for about 5 min whilst the host completed the phone call. Once he had finished on the phone. He remained adiment he was still not going to acknowledge me or look in my direction whilst he shuffled papers around on the desk and had a personal conversation with another staff member. Another 5 minutes passed like this, so I'd effectively stood like a lemon for 10 minutes without anyone welcoming me, giving a gesture to acknowledge I was waiting to be seated, or in general caring at all that I was there. At this point I felt a bit insulted so I left without buying anything. Overall this chap was really really rude and i will not be back, which is a disappointment because I was really looking forwards to eating there.

7.30pm on a Friday evening we were one of two tables of two, food was lovely except the medium steak was over cooked and quite await. The atmosphere was none existent which is quite disappointing and although the restaurant was practically empty we were given a table next to the open kitchen door next to the When ordering bar ( which was having a deep clean so the area was very cluttered) even though plenty of free tables in the front area of restaurant. When ordering our drinks one of us ordered a larger we were informed bottles great, however what came was a can of larger half poured with an ice cream like head into a glass to then find we were charged £4.50 for a can of Carling. Such a shame this was our third visit in a year food is lovely but customer service really lets this down, and the atmosphere could be amazing as parts of the restaurant are quite modern but at present all feels a little half hearted measures.

I have given the restaurant 3 stars for the excessively long time it took to get our meals. We booked our table for 7.15 but our main meal did not come out until gone 9pm. We were only advised almost 90mins after arriving that one of our choices was off the menu. The only other table was 10/12 people which seemed to be the excuse for the delay. All this said, the food was very good and if we could be guaranteed a more acceptable service on a next visit I would happily give more stars.

Well the website hasn't been updated according to the menu on offer in the restaurant. Having decided before travelling there we would have liked the set menu (see attached photo for evidence) we were very disappointed to see that this was no longer available. Not only this but the menus were dirty and there was no drinks menu... We waited 35 minutes to receive our drinks. My mystery ginger ale came in a dirty wine glass and my husband's beer came with Ice in it because it wasn't chilled... When we challenged the senior waiter about my dirty glass he then took one of the clean wine glasses already on the table (as it's laid out so when we arrived) and then poured the dirty glass beverage into the clean glass in front of me and my husband! We couldn't believe it! It was like something out of Faulty Towers! The food is served on this really annoying robot waiter which is incredibly loud and when the fun & novelty wears off it is very annoying. Please turn down the sound at least. The food was the only positive which is why we have awarded the 2 stars. We were charged for the drinks with no apology and it was so slow and no one came to see if we needed anything. Trying to ask for the bill was also arduous. We sat in the front glass area and the smell of cigarettes wafts through when you are eating. As non smokers we found this to be extremely unpleasant. The music playing is relaxing instrumental covers of various well known artists, although as we were waiting and feeling rather frustrated it started to sound like the "hold music" you get on the phone ... "You are number 5million and 7 in the queue, your call is important to us please hold". It was all such a bizarre experience we had to just laugh as the other option was to just walk out and we didn't want to upset the server who I think was a stand in family member and didn't know what he was doing. We noticed that it was popular for takeaway and now I can see why. It would be a different number of stars if we were reviewing just the food and not our overall experience. We will not be back. Prefer to travel 45 mins for better value and professional service where we would feel properly valued and not an inconvenience to the family running this place. Good luck to you. I can't believe we actually paid in full for what we had. Ps. You'll see there's a bottle of water on the table in the photo this was there when we arrived and wasn't cleared until after our starters when we had to ask which is embarrassing.

Really can't fault the food. Starters of vegetables tempura and corn cakes, followed by stir fried vegetables and prawn masaman (medium heat), all were great. Staff were friendly and normal chef Bee was being helped by her mum and dad, which was lovely to see. Being served by a ROBOT added to the evening. (Probably will go fiery on the heat level next visit)

Great food but Singha Beer at £7 per bottle took the shine off the evening. Overpriced. The on line menu does not reflect the actual price so beware.

bad food, almost everything is old and spoiled. a garbage restaurant, as well as those in management and serving are garbage. I don't recommend it for dog food .

If you're debating Thai food or not, let this place make that decision for you. It's fantastic. Large selection of options available, including vegetarian and vegan options, as well as the option to choose your spice level. The staff were lovely and helpful with reccomendations and the atmosphere was really relaxed. Would absolutely reccomend! (Cool little robot works there too!)

Well... I think that this eatery comes under the title "interesting"! The food was of good quality and the staff were friendly and attentive. It wasn't busy. The place is an interesting mix of decor with modern architecture and (obviously) a Thai theme but I feel that it was a little luttlered with other "stuff". I'm no designer, but it just felt a little odd. Covid is done with now, and I would have liked to have seen all of the "keep your distance or you're going to die" signs removed. let's move on. it's actually a little unsettling. No spoilers intended, but wait until you meet the robot waiter! Not sure of the point, but it gets a lot of phone movies made of it!

The prawn dish was OK, no more but the vegetarian dish was chicken! It was also greasy and watery - went straight in the bin. We didn't feel like driving to take it back as it was meant to be a treat after a long, hard day. Expensive mistake, won't try it again.

felt for the staff at front of house, clearly given too much to do - for one person- in terms of greeting, phone, serving, drinks and takeaways. Despite this, more training required and evidently struggled with the basics. i didn’t particularly enjoy the food, perhaps they had a bad day. Would recommend use of birdseye chillis and genuinely make things spicy which claim to be so. The other reviews suggest i was either unlucky or questionable tastes of the local population

Really delicious meal. The chef Bee previously worked for 5 years as head chef at a famous thai hotel/restaurant in the south, the Crazy Bear at Stadhampton, so she knows her stuff. The food was SO delicious and in generous portions. Fantastic choice of dishes on the menu - dont only expect what's on the website, there is so much more. We had mixed starter platters and dumplings, then a green chicken curry, duck with tamarind sauce, seafood pad cha, duck penang curry, and chicken pineapple fried rice (an adult fried rice dish for the child on the table, who doesnt eat spices) Theres lots of choice of spicy/not spicy food, and some dishes can be ordered mild/fairly hot/spicy - i went fairly on my penang, and it was still quite spicy. Should have gone mild really 😆🥵 All the dishes were really flavourful and cooked perfectly. The delivery cat bot is a lot of fun too

Nice venue but overpriced given the quality of the food. I get inflation but £100 for 2 adults and 2 small children without desserts and alcoholic drinks is a lot (the online menu prices need updating). We waited a long for the mains given that the restaurant was empty and when we got home we all had bad guts. Shame because we was initially impressed with with place.

1st let me say its is nice not great, we eat lots Thai and TBH this is OK. The service is a bit slow and while I wasn't a fan of the robot my boy thought it was great. Good points mixer starter was great, pad Thai was OK, yellow curry OK bit disappointed with weeping steak but still edible just used to better. Waitress was happy and when in the dining area helpful but did hide in kitchen. Overall happy to recommend and if in the area again would go back Good luck 👍

Really enjoyed our meal there yesterday. Wide ranging menu lovely fresh veg and great flavours..we had a robot serve the food which kids would love..I am an older person so found it bit noisy. Great value . Veggie and vegan options. We are Londoners and pleasantly surprised how good this was..

What a wonderful little hidden gem! This restaurant is a short walk from the centre of town. Inside it has beautiful decor...service was very good and the food was excellent. Portions were more than enough and the cherry on top was the little cat robot waiter! We will absolutely be making this one of our regular spots and would highly recommend for a lovely meal and setting.

Well established amazing place, had dinner high quality food, worth a visit I made, stayed I.n hotel part of building and room cosy, new, smart, comfortable, clean, lovely modern decor. Would highly recommend rooms.

Ate here with my husband last night. Welcoming front of house, sat in the glass fronted section. Felt cosy and warm. A good menu and choice of cocktails. Went for the mango one on 2 for 1 deal which was tasty. My husband had the lamb shank massaman special and I had the duck massaman curry. Both had a great flavour and fragrant and we're not oily as other posts have stated! Surprised to see so many negative reviews. We will be returning again soon.

Disappointing. Food was lukewarm, sizzling steak wasn't sizzling. Squid was chewy, massaman curry was poor. Won't be recomending or returning. Such a shame.

We had a takeaway last night, 29th October. The food was all delicious but the portion sizes were tiny!! For the cost I was not at all happy and will not go here again. Outrageous

Iam not really a fussy bloke when it comes to hotels.  I like a good shower.  A comfy bed.  A TV, and light.  Safety and security are a given.  We booked the Thai vintage because it was near to the event we were going to and in anticipation of a nice Thai meal.  We had received a couple of emails from the hotel about our booking, but nothing about the fact the restaurant and bar were closed for 3 weeks!  Dissapointed.  The hotel was OK.  The shower worked.  The bed was OK.  The lighting in the room was poor.  Perhaps to hide the tired and dark decor.  But.  During our stay we never saw a member of staff.  And I'm pretty sure we were the only guests.  If something had gone wrong - what? But my biggest concern was the fact the hotel door was left open and we entered our room by a code pad.  It did feel strange.  The litmus test is,  would we stay again? Afraid not.

Give this place a try, we did and we were not disappointed. Mixed starter spring rolls. Thai Fish cakes , salt and pepper squid and satay sticks all very freshly prepared and tasty. Panang curry and a Thai green curry again very authentic and full of flavour, we had one spicy and one very spicy both suited out taste buds . Service from Sylvia was excellent and service from the robot waiter/waitress made our night . We would come back again. You have to drive through a few residential streets to get there. Free parking. The resturant was very clean and the decor trendy . We have just recently moved to the area and we will definitely return

I hope that you have no allergies! Absolutely disgusting customer service. Made me drive back to the store because they didn't believe they had made a mistake and then would not refund for the rest of the food which I obviously returned too. Disgusting staff with horrible attitude to customer service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I have eaten here a few times and it was always really quite good. The last experience really wasn't. The starters were far from the best, over cooked, soaked in dirty fat, stale, possibly gone off food, most of them inedible. My mother was sick after the starters. The mains were the same, swimming in dirty oil, I was sick shortly after and throughout the night. The staff were very agressive when trying to speak to them about the food. I can only assume there must have been a change of ownership.

we came here thinking it’d be a nice Friday treat after a long week... we were heavily disappointed. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. What is supposed to be a lamb shank looks indescribable. Horrific. Neither myself or my partner could eat this as we were scared to get food poisoning. None of the food tasted fresh, it tasted out of date. I genuinely don’t know why it has such high stars and good reviews unless this was a bad night but it was not busy at all - only 3 tables including us.

Delicious starter, main and pudding. Spoilt for choice with good menu selection. Added delight for our children, a robot brought our meal to the table with the waiter! Children's menu too. Will return!

Room not ready ,no one there 30 mins trying to find someone ,walking around ,shouting for help , got keys myself in the end all rooms dirty full beer cans , got changed in room standing on some ones dirty bedding , late for wedding , despite book in time assurance. Got back after wedding towel heater on full , no windows would open , toilet 4ft from bed no door so that was nice and er no headboard so pillow fell in wet bath . Would have given 0 stars ,awful experience, asked for refund , answer we try are best 👌

Nice place to visit and very friendly people

Average food, really poor service. Our order was not sent to the kitchen by some mistake so we had a very long wait for our food. We were asked to sit by the door and endure the cold, even though the restaurant was pretty much empty. Cobwebs and dust on the lamps over the tables. For most of the time we were there, there was only one other group in the restaurant however they were overly loud and, even though they seemed to be close friends/colleagues of the staff, showed no respect to us as the other guests. In mitigation (giving three stars rather than two), the team seemed short of staff, presumably down to Covid.

We visited last night for a takeaway. The food was amazing and the staff lovely. Will be back for a sit down meal. A wonderful experience

We ordered a big take out! Many starters and a wide range of meat, seafood and vegetable main courses. Wow, fantastic authentic cuisine - every dish from green, red, Masaman curry to noodle or rice speciality was fantastic. I cannot rate this restaurant more highly....

I wouldn't pay the waitress in buttons, shocking service throughout and couldn't have been less interested in any of the customers. Food was average and doesn't fill with confidence when a full table walk out after receiving uncooked chicken. Really disappointing experience.
