It's a great restaurant. It feels a little microwave-ee but the guys here are accommodating and it's a cheerful friendly place

Great thai food but it came a little too quickly - literally within a minute or two of ordering - which isn't really what you want for a sit down restaurant. Otherwise this place is excellent and the pad Thai was really tasty. I recommend trying the massaman curry as it is really very tasty.

Worst chicken satay I have ever had! It was obviously cooked way in advance and reheated in the microwave. It was extremely dry. Chicken Satay jerky would be a better name for it. The peanut sauce tasted of stale peanuts.The pad Thai was so bland, it was not worth eating.

Our visit to the city would not have been complete without a Thai dinner and the Thai Dragon didn't disappoint. Great food on offer and the staff were attentive to the point that a birthday dessert was provided on overhearing our chat!

We enjoyed the food, but the service was awful. Apart from one member of staff ( black shirt) all the others gave dreadful service. At the outset waiters were rude and unprofessional. Other diners were shown to their table, but we were told to wait. No explanation apart from a command to sit at the seats at the entrance and wait for our table. The wine brought to the table was not what we ordered. The waiter assumed it would be OK because they didn't have what we ordered, but it wasn't and was returned. While we looked at the menu, prawn crackers were given to us. We assumed they were gratis but added to the bill. We were rushed with our order and generally throughout the meal we felt we were an inconvenience. Also waiters referred to our food by numbers when serving giving the impression we were eating a takeaway rather than a restaurant meal. At the end of the meal some diners were offered shots, others weren't, perhaps they were regulars? Final annoyance and to add insult to injury, when given the bill the waiter told us the total did not include service. All in all not a pleasant birthday experience. May be OK as expensive takeaway.

Having read the reviews here I booked. Definitely not believing tripadvisor reviews again! According to the waiter they had a new chef, unfortunately he can’t cook! The crispy duck starter was 80% fat, and nothing crispy in the duck at all, just soggy fat! I pointed out the issue to the waiter, he apologised and took it off our bill. He asked if we wanted the dish again, we declined. Main course was basil chilli chicken, which had a nice flavour, but unfortunately the beans and carrots were raw, rock hard. Al dente would be acceptable, raw isn’t. The chicken satay was dry and overcooked, only enough satay sauce for 1 of the 3 skewers too. The pad Thai was bearable, but not good, the noodles were so overcooked they were like rubber. We took most of the dish home for our dog, even he wasn’t impressed. The staff were pleasant, but serving rubbish food really isn’t acceptable. The waiter tried to tell me carrots and beans in Basil chicken are usually raw, what tosh! I have been to Thailand numerous times, and eaten in Thai restaurants outside of the country hundreds of times more, never been given raw food passed off as traditional! The toilets are dreadful, messy, tatty, horrible, obviously no care given to them, ugh. The best part of dinner was the wine, and leaving. Don’t bother wasting your time and money in this place!

Couldn't understand this place. We called 2 days ago to have a look and were greeted by 3 Indian men with not a Thai person anywhere. Normally in UK (and in Thailand for that matter) Thai restaurants are run mainly by Thai women. We have no problem at all with Indian people, but this was so unexpected, we decided to go elsewhere.

I had been looking forward to a Thai meal for sometime and took the opportunity to visit this restaurant whilst in Wells for a few days. We were not disappointed it was excellent. The service was well paced and the starters and mains were delivered in at a comfortable time giving you time to enjoy each course. They were fresh generous and fragrant served with accompanying dressings. The mixed starter was lovely and the mains of duck and prawn superb. Value for money was amazing £60 including wine but not service charge but to deny that would not only be rude but tight!! Would highly recommend.

Finally found a great place for Asian food in Wells, as we miss eating rice so much. We ordered crispy lemon chicken and red curry beef, coconut rice and fried rice. All dishes are in the right portion, very delicious, will definitely come back again.

We had an absolutely lovely Thai meal here last night, the shared platter to start was delicious and were our main meals. Thoroughly enjoyable and tasty food wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and can’t wait to return. Many thanks

Of course, on our first day in Wells we had to try the only Thai restaurant here. A nice Indian man welcomed us and when we asked whether Thai people actually cook here, we got a resounding YES. We were excited...and what came next really tasted authentically Thai. Of course, as always, I had the Tom Yam Kung as a starter and a Gaeng Massaman Gai as the main course. Last but not least, sticky rice with mango 😋 . Conclusion: delicious, authentic and really recommended. 👍

My husband and I had the family dinner for two. It came with appetizers, soup and sweet and sour prawns, curry duck,curry fish rice and a vegetable dish plus a banana fritter dessert. It was all so delicious. The restaurant itself was very nice the service was fantastic. I highly recommend it.

The food on the whole was fine however I was not impressed with the unfriendly service - they didn’t ask if we wanted to try the wine ( I appreciate wine isn’t corked these days) but usually in a restaurant when you buy a bottle they let you try it first. Starter was nice ‘ prawn crackers cost extra. Main courses were nice. Waiter seemed to be stomping past us all the time. Not friendly at all & we were not made to feel welcome. Doesn’t appear to be run by Thai people. Not expensive compared to other Thai restaurants we have been to. Gents toilet apparently was disgusting with black mould & paint peeling- not very clean either. Didn’t use ladies. Probably won’t return!

Great food and lovely restaurant with super service

First time eating at Thai Dragon, but a regular stop for other members of the family. Oh my goodness, what lovely food and really good service. Will definitely pop in again next time I'm in Somerset.

Terrible dinner! There was a small black hair in my son’s Pad Thai and the waiter responded but our chefs are both bald! No atmosphere at all … only 3 tables in including ours & staff looked totally demotivated. Avoid!

It's a great Thai restaurant. Serves the most amazing Thai food and they have a massive selection available. You're greeted nicely at the door and moved swiftly to order. If we want Thai then this is where we will go. They gave a free Bailey's at the end with a rose for valentine's which was a super special touch. Would highly recommend eating here. They also do take out if you don't wish to done in.

First time of visiting but I'd definitely come back. I'd eaten at their sister restaurant in Glastonbury many times so hoped it would be just as good and it was.

Midweek January lunchtime random visit despite a dull exterior inside was bright and tasteful. Prompt, discreet attention, lovely varied menu and remarkably affordable prices. Excellent Thai food in Wells. Good food, good service, good atmosphere. The place was busy (Friday) but the staff were efficient. The food was lovely! Just the right blend of flavours and spiciness. All washed down with a Singha!

Lovely food but there was a large party of guys eating together. They were making so much noice. This made our stay a short one.

My husband and I popped in for Thai food and had such a good meal that we went again two days later! We loved the noodle dishes and the very good and savory sliced beef. The gentlemen who served us were attentive without being overbearing. We had walked past this delightful restaurant many times in the past, but now it will be a go-to! Strongly recommend.

Don’t bother, waiting staff had no personality and food even worse (bland… and this is a Thai restaurant!). Fried in thick batter, not tempura as the menu said, just tragic. Not Thai in flavour, satay is really easy but not on this occasion. Nothing else to say, just don’t dine here. Would have been really easy to smile people, I’m big on saying good things but not for this restaurant.

We enjoyed all the dishes we had: duck breast in tamarind sauce, sizzling beef with peppercorn sauce and a fish curry. All were cooked well and nicely spiced. The waiter was friendly especially after we had broken the language barrier. Recommended.

+On a short break to the city, we liked this place so much we went twice! Warm and friendly atmosphere, swift service. We tried a number of dishes, all good, but the vegetarian set menu (£17.75 p.p.) was especially generous and varied, the batter on the veg tempura translucently light and staying crisp....

Poor service despite decent food. Maybe we entered just 50 minutes before kitchen being closed for afternoon break, the staff stood next to the table and kept staring at us when we’re reading the menu and even when we’re eating. He looked annoyed and kept asking what else do we want despite the table was full of dishes. Maybe he’s just having a bad day, but we’d rather he just tells us off at the first instance.

Visited mid week, we hadn't booked but they had a few tables free. Lots of choice on menu, food was very tasty and portion sizes good. Food was served quite quick, definitely good value for money.

Love Thai food, travelled Thailand so probably have high expectations Food was just ok… They charge for the Thai crackers they put on your table! They constantly asked you if you want another drink! All upping the bill! It’s ok but nothing special for the price.

Everything was mediocre. A plate of prawn crackers and dipping sauce was put on our table which we ate. The food was ok but not special. The bill included the prawn crackers we had not asked for. £2 extra. No-one there looked happy. Not the best experience for dinner.

Food was fantastic. Sadly, when we asked for coffee at the end we were told that it had gone passed 2.00pm and the restaurant was now closed. When we went to pay our bill I was told that it did not include any service charges. Did not include tip and will not be going back.

The food, for the price, was not bad at all. The waiter choosing to watch videos on his phone on full volume in the restaurant was not so good - when did that ever become an acceptable thing ??

I have never experienced such unprofessional and moody staff before. We felt like they didn't want us there. The restaurant used to be a really good Indian restaurant and its like the owners decided to change it and buy loads of Asian ornaments (definitely all not Thai related) which over cluttered the place. The food wasn't anything to shout about. Really disappointing after such a lovely weekend.

We popped in here while visiting the area, we had two teenage boys who weren't keen on trying Thai but actually enjoyed it. We had dumplings and prawn spring rolls to share for starters, which were really nice. The portion sizes are good, not too large which can sometimes be intimidating, but plenty to fill you up. The restaurant is nicely themed and the toilets were spotless. Staff were very friendly. Would definitely return if we are in the area.

Before we were even seated we were asked for our drinks order, not being ready yet we asked for a minute to decide, we were not given another minute, the waiter was back in around 30 seconds. Around 2 minutes later we were delivered our drinks and asked for our food order, while the waiter stood over us. The food was on our table eleven minutes after we had walked it, my wife's meal with wrong but that was quickly fixed. Unfortunately we were directly under the air-conditioner so our food was almost instantly cold. The bill was on the table less than 25 minutes after we'd arrived - something tells me they wanted the table back! That said it was kind of a hurried, far from comfortable, blessing in disguise as the table next to us (a chap in his 60s four in their late-20's/early-30's) were shouting drunkenly across their table at full volume - causing most other tables to have to raise their voices to be heard. We were glad to be out of there.

There were 9 of us eating and whilst the main courses were reasonable everything was spoilt by the filth in the common areas of the restaurant. There was dirt all up the stairs to the toilet and the toilet had no water to flush and there was no water to even wash your hands. The waiters were surly and wanted to rush us through our meal as quickly as possible. No manners, no grace and we felt like we were an annoyance to them. We won’t be going back.

Het eten was erg lekker. De sfeer daarentegen is er niet leuk. De obers zijn niet gemeend echt vriendelijk. Het is allemaal erg formeel. Geen water en papieren handdoekjes op toilet dus met ingezeepte handen terug het restaurant in. Gemeld en ik kon naar het damestoilet. Bij het afrekenen te weinig contant geld teruggekregen. Ze moeten hier nog veel leren behalve in de keuken.

Happened to pop in for lunch by chance as walking past - probably wouldn't have done on basis on Trip Advisor reviews. We had the set ' tapas' type menu which was very good and excellent value. We arrived just after 1pm where the opening times were stated open until 2pm, but were advised they were closing at 1.45 so needed to order quickly. We had already spotted the set menu, so not an issue for us. We did see a couple of people turned away being advised that they were closing at 1.45pm.. Could do with a some improved customer service / updating the opening hours stated. 5 star for food but 3 for service

I was trying to change my booking on the phone, the gentleman I spoke to was very rude and abrupt- I thought my table was booked at 7.30pm, but he rudely said it was either 6.30 or 8pm- I said that unfortunately we couldn’t make that time- he just put the phone down!!! Rude!

Excellent set menu for 2 (the smaller option!) It still beat us. Lovely selection,tasty, fragrant food.

The restaurant was very nicely decorated , lunch was very good, especially the duck . Felt rushed as kitchen closes 1.45. We got there at 1.10. But Its well worth the visit.

The second part of my review was New year 2022. I thought l would try another takeaway 18th March 2023, very disappointing and won't even risk it a third time, £15 for the tinyest of duck pancake not even enough meat to fill the pancakes supplied. The coconut rice was not even enough for one portion, l had a Jungle chicken curry, more mushrooms than chicken must be cheaper than chicken, no beer for me this time and not even prawn crackers, so another Takeaway in Wells bites the dust! Perhaps it's better in the restaurant where you send things back but we have dog's and not allowed. Will not be trying again sadly. Nice service, l have had a takeaway and it was tasty, the servers are comedian's and l was asked for Duck and they kept on about Veggie or Duck and in the end duck was gone and ended up with chicken 🐔 and a bonus beer for my trouble, definitely use them again and the view of the Cathedral is amazing ❤️

Went here for my mums birthday, and food was decent but staff were particularly miserable. Enquired about a VAT receipt and was faced with a blank face and a passive shrug. Left feeling alright but nothing special. Within an hour of leaving the restaurant I felt the most awful pain in my stomach which was followed shortly by an explosion of brown liquid coming out my rear-end. I’m aware that coincidences does not equal causation, however I’m a fully fit, half Asian, uni student with no allergies. So I’ll let you draw your own conclusions from that. P.s. the only thing smelling worse than my lavatory right now, is theirs

After eating here in the past we thought we would try it again. Big mistake! The staff were appalling, no idea about customer service, no welcome just a cursory 'Name'! Muttered something and we followed only to be told to wait! Not at anytime did anyone smile, or seem to want to engage in any conversation. The food was passable but the fish was grey and smelt dodgy so avoided. Food was just plonked in front with no interaction. Worst experience of Thai service ever, we shall be returning to The Thai Elephant at Street which has a totally different customer service and food presentation. Avoid at all costs.

Amazing Thai food. Food and drink are priced well and portions are a good size too. It was all very tasty. Only slight niggle was that they rushed us out when we had finished eating. No offer of dessert or coffees, just a bill and card machine as soon as they had cleared the table.

Not great at all! I don’t think they’re cooking things fresh in here, felt like a microwave and reheating sort of jobby. Tasted like aeroplane food!

Food nice. Staff unprofessional. We went in during the lunchtime opening hours. Ordered our mains. They came out promptly. When it was bought to our table the waiter was un professional picking up our drinks and moving them instead of politely asking us to move them to make room for the food! When we had finished our mains my partner wanted a desert. When we asked for the menu the member of staff said abruptly that they were closing in 7 minutes and refused to take the order! We still had almost full drinks. They then started to pace up and down the restaurant asif to tell us to hurry up. I'm sorry but the food isn't cheap and we had paid our bill so we wasn't going to rush! At 10 minutes after closing the doors the waiter then verbally told us they were closed. Do not open from 12 - 2pm and rush your customers

Came back this restaurant again. Food was lovely and truly Thai. Pad Thai noodles is the best, very delicious sauce with red onion scent. Very things were fresh cook, I had steam rice that so fresh and real jasmine rice same Thailand. Never make me disappointed Definitely come back.

Last 3 times i've gotten a takeaway, part of it turned out to be barely room temperature. Not a good standard at all.

Ordered takeaway. Massaman curry which is supposed to be very mild was mouth burningly spicy, whereas panang which is supposed to be spicier was much milder. Mixed starter was good.

Starter portions and sticky rice were quite sad. Price is particularly high for the starters e.g. £2 per battered prawn. Food however tasted nice and I imagine if you were to dine at the restaurant it might be better served.

It is one of the few places in Wells that is actually open on a Monday night. A friendly welcome, comfortable seating with unusual and intricate wood carvings. The meal was what you hoped it would be, lots of interesting tates and flavours. Would definitely go there again

There’s some nice pictures of beautifully presented food amongst these reviews. Looks lovely. I obviously didn’t expect that from a takeaway but what we did get was some pretty bland food. My poor wife ordered the pad Thai and after it had been crammed tightly into a plastic tub it all congealed together into a solid block that just plopped out into her plate. She pretty much had to slice it up like a block of cheese. Nothing close to what it should be like. The other curry dishes were okay but a bit bland, and the shredded duck was nice enough but rather overpriced. If you eat in and get additional enjoyment from the experience then great, but definitely no more takeaways for us.

This is a perfectly serviceable Thai restaurant. Although not the best Thai food in the world it serves perfectly adequate nosh. Staff friendly and the bill not too bad so it just about gets the five rating.

Disappointed. Take away ordered and once back at the hotel, found a long black hair mixed in with one of the rice dishes. Let it off and tried to ignore the extra ingredient as we were all starving having been out all day on a family trip to Wookey Hole Caves. But to find yet another black hair in the Thai green curry was too much. Food was taken back as was not happy to for myself or my family to consume, questioning the hygiene standards that Thai Dragon were following. Nice place. Well attended. We may have picked the wrong dishes on the menu, who knows. I'd rather not put the downers on the place because we where looked after well. Try it - it maybe just what you're looking for.

Great evening out with attentive and helpful staff, amazing food and a lovely location. Would definitely recommend and if you're a seafood lover like us, try their seafood dishes and you will go home both full and very happy.

We ate at this restaurant on Saturday as a group of 14. We had a set meal which was very hot and tasty. Staff were friendly and efficient and food was served promptly.

Best Thai ever with clear gluten free options

Nice food at decent price. COVID screens still up which I didn't like. Staff efficient but not friendly. Busy even though it was early.

Really good food and good choice for vegetarians but pushy service. Been here before and uncomfortable in trying to get you to leave. Also, coffee was instant (insulting), elderflower pressé had very little elderflower in it and gave me different beer than I asked for.

Had take away excellent food, restaurant looked very full

The restaurant did not inspire confidence but the food was fine. A pleasant surprise as it looked dark and gloomy from the outside but it was very pleasant.

Had a lovely meal here last week. We were pleasantly surprised that the menu varied from the sister business in Street (where we go a lot!) so we were able to try some new dishes. The service was good, although we did feel really quite rushed at the beginning despite explaining that we needed more time. The food more than made up for it so on a night where you don't feel rushed into ordering it would absolutely be a 5 star experience
