Average food quality at reasonable prices with terrible service. Long wait and unfriendly staff made me remove tip from the bill for the first time in my life... Would recommend trying other (great) options nearby!

The food is gorgeous, fresh, well seasoned and plentiful. I always make time for lunch there with friends when I am in London. and a lunch that costs under £7 in London is a treat.

No pudimos hablar. he dicho suficiente.

What a disappointment !! Thai Break has been a favourite of ours for some time, but this visit almost turned in to a farce. My friends main meal was a meat dish, the meat smelt so strange that we both were of the opinion that it was "off", no problem said the waitress, you can choose something else. Considering the time already had to wait and the fact that my main had already been served, my friend decided to share mine. This was ok until the bill arrived and we discovered that we had been charged for the "off" dish. What ensued next bordered on the farcical, the waitress refused several times to alter the bill, she would not get the "boss", when she was eventually persuaded to ask the manager to come the table, he refused to come, it was only after some considerable time that it was agreed to deduct the "off" dish from the bill "this time" !! Never Again.

único inconveniente, mesas un poco demasiado cerca, viaje a Loo down dodgy_nfp estrechas escaleras.

I recently ate dinner with some friends at Thai Break - we chose it because it was close to our original choice which was full. The food was arguably the blandest Thai I've ever had (the pork in my crispy noodles was so bland I thought they had accidentally substituted chicken). In addition, the prices were pretty high for Thai. The space itself is cramped, with the tables way too close together - it felt as if the person sitting at the next table was at our table as there was so little space between them. We should have passed up the convenience factor and walked the ten minutes to Queensway where there is plenty of flavourful, good value Asian food. Overall a very disappointing experience - we won't be returning!

Nice little side, off the main street restaurant. Seated immediately without reservation. Went for set menu option1 for £18.50. i had a nice mixed platter starter. Was a little small (see pic) but nice. My friends soup...don't look that nice, but hey. I got noodles for mains. Not sure what type they were, but not great. It was only ok. Not the best noodles i have ever had. Got coconut ice-cream for dessert. Was nice. Service was ok. The staff were not that informed when we had questions on menu. No toilet in gents is a big negative mark!Overall, for the price, I think there are better options around. A nearby pub for instance does Thai food for a lot cheaper and is probably nicer. Reluctant to return.

Stumbled across this little restaurant while waiting for our film to start at the cinema (The Amazing Spiderman - a must see!) and very happy we went in. My boyfriend and I aren't too critical on small, self-sustaining places like this so I agree that the service wasn't the best in the world but they were attentive and brought the food quickly and hot. We had a table at the back which was very nice and private, in a sort of booth, and ate the sharing starter platter (yummy, best spring rolls I've ever had) and then I had the pad thai (YUM YUM YUM, gorgeous, I want this recipe) while my boyfriend ate the thai green curry with a side of steamed rice. We were both very pleased with our choices and I pretty much licked the plate clean I loved mine so much. We will definitely come in again if we're in the area. AND they had proper chopsticks - not the disposable ones you normally get at places. Chuffed!

We have been attending Thai Break for 6 years now and very rarely we are dissapointed. Thai selection of starters is better than some famous Bangkok street food; red curry simply delicious, beef salad with unforgatable dressings, and the best pad thai noodles with prawns we have ever had in UK and on our trips to Thailand. As to soups, tom kha gai is a must whenever we eat dinner there, it is just so balanced! Staff changes too often though, and probably this is what might affect the service. Dressings and sauces sound not too fresh at times and curries can be too oily, but this does not change our longlasting love for this little place. Would forget: if you fancy a dessert, please try their thai pancake with coconut: mouth watering. Worth noting are their lunch menu prices: now it is almost the cheapest lunch in Notting Hill area, unless you count kebab places or MD. Really recomended

I and my girlfriend went along for a meal, upon arriving it was empty (and I had booked a table) This was at 8pm on friday evening...about 6 different people kept walking in to pick up takeaway food having to walk ast our table each time whilst leaving the door open wafting cold air in as we had a drink - they should chose to be either take-out or eat in - both simply does not work here and its hard to have a intimate meal when you have people dashing past you with take out...after about 8.30 one or two others come in to eat. After making our order our food arrives, I notice that my order is wrong and I tell the waitress - she then argues with me telling me that 'I did' order this and that it is my mistake, I told her no this is your error I did not order this and she again carried on arguing actually to the point where it became almost agressive to which I reacted and stood up and said "look im not eating this or paying for this meal - I ordered what I ordered and I expect you to sort it out". I then sat down and she took my meal away (whilst my poor girlfriend was nearly half way through her meal) I wasted a further 20 mins assuming they has replaced my order with what I originally wanted then she came over and said would you like to make another order!!! By this time I was absolutely fuming I stood up told my girlfriend to get her things and told them what I thought of them in front of other shocked customers, we walked sraight out - and will never ever return to this place again it is quite simply appauling I was disgusted not even an apology. They have not one lue about customer service and that the customer is always right Avoid at all costs I wouldnt eat there even if they paid me to.

Food is good, although service needs lots of improvement. We've just finished our food and were having a chat over the end of the wine - when in a quite a rude manner got asked to leave because they need the table.... Hold on a moment - there is no-one waiting to be seated, to be honest the place and the area wasn't busy either. I just believe that if you are going to work within front line customer service role - you need to be polite.

I went here on a whim with three friends. It looked authentic and independant and so we thought we would give it a crack. The staff seemed perfectly pleasant, but alarm bells rang when we saw the wine list. Working in the wine trade you could tell it was a poor list, although plenty of restaurants have bad wines lists and don't translate to bad food. In this case it did. The food was appaling. It was clearly reheated, the sticky rice was blatently from a big batch made well in advance. The duck was tender, but again clearly reheated and old. Really no redeeming features about the food at all. Avoid!

Was OK value for money but food was not great. Starters were over fried so that there was little taste other than crispy oil. Soup was a broth that was overly spiced that you could not taste anything other than chilis and then the mains tasted the same and overly salty. was ok for a quick pop in for something convenient near to the hotel, and as long as you do not have high expectations is only mediocre

You would have thought that these type of 'restaurants' had disappeared with time, with people's better knowledge of 'exotic' cuisines and with an increasingly number of places - particularly in London - offering the real thing. Fitou's actually reminds those unfortunate people that decide to dine at its premises of those nasty, formica-laden, quick and dirty joints that were kind of popular in the UK about 20 years ago. 'Exotic' food to the British public was about ketchup on spaghetti or super hot tikka masalas, in short - together with kebabs - all that nasty food that was served to people leaving the pub rather inebriated and searching for something not to taste or enjoy, but food to numb their state of drunkenness. Apart from the nonchalant, 'who gives a ****' attitude of the 'staff', upon which people have commented here before, the food was disastrous. Unbelievable large amounts of oyster and soy sauce obliterating any taste. Ingredients on your plate indistinguishable from one other. Most concerning were all the mucky, charred bits obviously coming from the bottom of a pretty dirty wok, all to be seen on the plate served to you. God knows last time those woks were properly lined, let alone cleaned. Surely, looking at the customers there, Fitou's still gets away with it thanks to an audience that doesn't ask for any finesse, perhaps in life as well as when it comes to food. But this is properly ghastly food, an insult to Thai's cooking tradition, a sad reminder of a culture that thrives by disguising 'exotic' food and serving it as something else. Awful.
