Service was quick on a Tuesday afternoon. Food was so so. Had the Tom kha which was a bit watery. The pad gra pow was all right The really good thing about the restaurant was the price. The lunch menu was under £10 for starter , mains + rice/chips. The decor was simple. Wouldnt be somewhere you bring friends/family for a treat. Would perhaps come again by myself to try different things on the menu because of the price.

terrible food, noodles were slapped onto the plate, were overcooked and had no taste. didn't give an itemised bill even when we requested one, just gave a few scribbles in thai on a paper and called it a day. worst thai food i've ever had in leeds.

I've been here a number of times although I wont be going again. I booked a table about 1 month in advance to ensure I could reserve a table for my family reunion of 7 people. The lady took my booking. The night before my family were to meet and attend I called the restaurant to confirm my booking to ensure everything was ok and this time a male answered the phone and he was extremely rude. He was almost shouting down the phone asking me the name of the person who took my booking shouting 'who, who, who,' -- how the heck should I know the employees name! He then arrogantly yelled they don't take bookings and hung up. I called back again and this time the same guy answered and he wanted an argument raising his voice instantly so I ended the call and I won't be going again. I read some of the other one star reviews and I can see other people have made bookings so they had in fact taken bookings. I think it is the male manager I spoke with on the phone. The reviews also mentioned very rude staff and manager. Oh well these restaurants become very busy because they take as many customers as possible and then they cannot cope, service drops and they begin blaming customers. Try Zapp Thai restaurant across the street or somewhere else, there are many Thai restaurants to choose from in Leeds.

Lunch deal is amazing, cheap and absolutely lovely, have been multiple times and every time it's been brilliant.

They seat poc mostly darker skinned people at the back of the restaurant. Food was good though.

Always packed at night! Great food at great pricing, although the wait is quite a while but you have to get used to it! Not many waiters so that is kind of hard to get them to take orders. But just be patient :) Recommended Thai place in Leeds for sure!

My wife and I always enjoy the excellent food in Aroy Dee . No surprise that it's almost always busy!

If you're into noodles, I highly recommend trying dish no. 63, pad see ew with beef, chicken, or prawn at Thai a Roy Dee. The food is delicious at a very fair price. However, be prepared for slow service, usually around half an hour per order. It's advisable to book your table in advance as it's often busy, and you may need to wait!

First time visiting Thai a Roy Dee after a recommendation from a friend. Was greeted straight away by friendly staff and was seated by the window, the staff are very friendly, well timed and polite. The food was absolutely beautiful whilst being very well presented on the plate, the drinks especially the Thai iced tea which was visually stunning as well as being delicious. The chairs and tables are a little close together but not noticeable once sat. They also have a brilliant deal before 5 which is a starter, main, chips or rice for just £9.95 with amazing portions.

This is my first visit to an authentic neighborhood restaurant. The food is good and the price is reasonable. It was busy that night and the seats were crowded. I will help you if I go to Leeds again.

I originally posted a 5* review but after a few bad meals and appalling service I have taken stars off. My last meal here was so spicy hot I just couldn't eat it, despite asking for it to be mild. My meal today was literally bone dry chicken mince with plain rice. But the absolute worst thing today was the service. It was quite clear to us all that their Thai customers were being served before their local customers. We ordered our food for four people and it was brought to our table piecemeal. My food came 15 minutes after my partners food, and the other meals filtered out over 25 minutes. This is despite us asking three times to bring it out at the same time. The "waitress" gave us a real dirty look and lots of attitude, and told us it was being cooked and would be out when it was ready. She then went back to talking and laughing with some other Thai people (who got all their food at the same time and more quickly than us, despite them arriving 15 minutes after us). To be honest it was a disgrace feeling discriminated against in the city I have lived in all my life.

The food is amazing, the service not so great but I always joke that the worse the service, the better the food 🤣 Would recommend to anyone who likes Thai or anyone wanting the try it. The photos are: Chicken Fried Rice Chicken Pad Thai Beef Masaman Beef Thai Green Curry I would also recommend the coconut rice instead of the sticky rice.

The food and portion sizes were great value. All very flavoursome. Very busy but got seated straight away. Service was polite and prompt. Toilets were a disappointment. Looked as though it had been a while since the floors had been swept and mopped.

This is clearly a popular place as it's always busy. The food is very tasty, good sized portions and reasonably priced. I had a duck Pad Prik which was really good with the exception of the skin being left on the duck. If this isn't going to be crispy then it needs removing as soft and rubbery is not pleasant. Service is a little lacking, took a little while to be served and drinks weren't offered before hand. Food and drinks then just brought to the table and placed down on the end for us to sort out. The restaurant and toilets could do with some attention and maintenance, looking tired and not overly clean. Overall there are better Thai restaurants in Leeds

This place is probably has the most authentic Thai food I’ve tasted! When I go Thailand it reminds me of Thai Aroy Dee and not this place reminding me of Thailand! The service can be a little slow sometimes but this is because they can be incredibly busy so it’s understandable. Prices have always been reasonable. I will always prefer here before any other Thai places.

Very satisfied about the food and the price itself. The pork leg rice and the seafood soup are amazing. We cancelled our take away order as it’ll be made in one hour. Better book it in advance because it’s very busy.

The food is fantastic however the environment is very noisy.

One of the worst service experiences I have ever seen (kitchen nightmares esque ) , we arrived on time for a booked table which wasn’t available , the team didn’t address this and we were made to wait around with no explanation , following this we saw a man asked to move who was already dining to another table mid meal which was shocking , once seated there was no apology or explanation and we placed our order , the food took around an hour and 15to arrive for our main course and we saw some tables who arrived after receive there food before us , the food was ok ( ordered the deep fried pasta and Tom yum noodles )was priced fairly but with the terrible service and lack of addressing this issue I can only rate a 2/5 , if the service was to be improved this could be improved but this was by far the worst service I have experienced in person.

My visit to this restaurant was a complete disaster! Waited a whopping 45 minutes for my order, got ignored when I asked for sauce, and ended up with a stomachache after eating their supposedly "normal" cooked food. The waitress couldn't care less, didn't apologize, and I paid £20 for this unacceptable experience. Horrible service and management—zero responsibility and disregard for customers!

First visit and loved the place, the staff and the busy ambience. Closest I’ve come to a genuine Thai restaurant outside of Thailand, no fuss decor and great tasting food. Can’t wait to go back.

The food here is always delicious and the staff are super helpful. If you're coming to lunch get there early as there is often a queue waiting outside to get in as it is so popular.

We went there in the afternoon and it was not crowded. The food serves quick and deliciouse and the price is attractive. I can't wait to visit it again.

I booked a table and requested it far away from the toilets and in a good spot. My booking was for the day after. The man that came to see us when we arrived was the manager. He gave us the table by the front door. I requested something away from the door. He didn’t seem helpful in offering us a better table. I did say I made the reservation the day before and surely they could’ve saved us a table as they had a 4 seater and 2 seater near the front door. This tells me that nobody likes to sit there. I called over another man as we saw a group of people leave literally 2 minutes later. He asked the manager. I didn’t see what was happening but my husband told me he shouted at the young man. That really put us off. I got the impression that table was saved for either their white or Asian customers but not for brown customers like us. It’s been a very long time I felt racism towards me, and having been born and brought up in Yorkshire never faced racism often. So to have felt the way I did, made me feel something I haven’t felt in a long time. I just feel sad. I suggested to my family that we leave and to be honest the staff didn’t seem bothered anyway as we had stood around a few minutes anyway.

I eat here every time I come to leeds, but this time it was really too much, rubbish service, 9 of us went to eat and there was no big table. I said we could sit separately, not necessarily a big table, but we still kept it in a good tone. The boss said that the boss over there yelled very fiercely and said no, no, no matter what, his attitude was very bad, as if he was about to fight, and he would never come again, Rubbish

Food was excellent, only problem was that they brought out our second course before we had finished our starter which we felt slightly rushed

The most authentic thai food you can have in the UK! Eaten in a lot of Thai restaurants all over the country but nothing beats this place by a mile. Their food is always consistent and flavourful. The only slight downside for me is the service can be slow but understandably, they are always busy especially on a weekend. Best to book in advance if you’re wanting to visit.

The manager ruined my day and hair inside the dish. I found the hair just before I finished, it is so disgusting when you saw it. Then I told it to the waitress, and gave me a 10% discount but it is unacceptable for me. So I called the manager but her attitude really gets my back up, it’s like I did something wrong. Never come again and highly not recommend to come.

Best Thai food I've tried! The restaurant setting it's not amazing, but it's clean and tidy, and it has a great value for money. Quantities are big enough and super tasty

Service - Service is always absolutely fantastic, as we are regulars we have built a rapport with some of the staff here which makes every visit always so lovely. Atmosphere - Hustle and bustle eating at it's finest, if you're looking for a quiet bite then go away. Food - Thai food really doesn't get much better than this in the UK. I have never once been disappointed by a dish I've ordered, and i've been working my way through the menu for over 6 years now. Some standouts that'll see you right every time; Kao Ka Moo (Stewed pork leg) - A perfectly balanced dish, you've got the rich savoury and beautifully gelatinous pork leg which could be too rich if not perfectly balanced with the pickled mustard greens and the spicy sour vinegar on the side. Absolutely fantastic with noodles or rice, although i'm unsure if they offer this with noodles now. Pad Ka Pao (with Century Egg) - If you're scared then you dont deserve it. Thai A Roy Dee do an excellent Pad Ka Pao alone, but their special with the fried Century Egg really lifts this dish beyond the stratosphere. Don't be scared of the black eggs, they taste like regular eggs and so perfectly battered which soak up the delicious sauce. GET THIS. Morning Glory with Roast Pork or Tofu - No balanced meal is complete without some great veggies. People turn their nose up at ordering vegetables with their meal, why? i don't know. This stir fried morning glory is absolutely fantastic, beautifully fresh morning glory with either your choice of crispy roast pork belly or tofu! It's roast pork belly for us most days but the tofu version is just as good! I could go on! Really you can pick any dish from this menu and I assure you will not be disappointed. Me and my partner have been frequent customers to this amazing restaurant for over a year. One of the best restaurants in Leeds. The food is always delicious; a long menu of an array of perfectly cooked authentic Thai food. And we’re always alarmed by the small bill received at the end. Amazingly economical. Couldn’t sing any more praises for this gem!

Everything about this place is simply wonderful, the food is absolutely fresh and delicious at the same time reasonably priced. service is informal but great .. the sea food salads look and taste delicious

I've been coming here for the past 3 years and absolutely Love It. I've tried a few other Thai restaurants but this is by far the BEST. The others might have fancy decor but the food is no where near as good and that's what matters. Service can be a little slow but I'm willing to put up with that.

Food never fails to disappoint, is very reasonably priced and BYOB. Service is good, only downside is the environment isn't particularly endearing, but everything else more than makes up for this.

We often go for a meal here, usually 4 times a year when dropping my daughter off at university. The first two time was great the third time it was a bit mediocre and just today not good at all. Also it took them 30 mins to bring our first dishes. The wait time is horrendous. I got the happy hour meal which is available until 5pm most days, you pick two dishes from a set menu. I picked the green chicken curry and the tempura type veg. This came after all the alcarte items we had ordered! The chicken curry was really weak and the bamboo they put in the curry was not pleasant it was thick batons which tasted straight out of a tin. The sauce was a thin soup consistency, and the flavour was definitely missing. The tempura veg was overly battered, thick and stodgy. We also ordered the prawn pad see ewe which was fine, pad gra pow, which was also good as was the fish cakes but the prawns in coconut milk and lime leaves lacked flavour and oomph even though we had expressly asked for everything to be extra chilli. So very disappointed with tonight’s meal at Thai a Roy Dee. I think we’ll try elsewhere next time.

I have been eager to try thai a Roy dee since moving to leeds a year and half ago because of the hype. I will start off by saying the customer service was good. Being a sucker for Peanuts I went for the gang matsaman! I enjoyed it as the texture was smooth and the flavour was subtle. The reason for 3 stars is because the food didn’t blow me away. I also expect typical Thai spices to be offered/ on the table however none were provided. Will try again some day because of the hype.

I've been coming to Thai Aroy Dee almost every week for a good few years now and the food is never anything less than exceptional. Ben, the front of house guy/waiter, is friendly and accommodating and will always do his best to seat those who haven't booked in advance. But, if you turn up to one of the busiest restaurants in Leeds at 6pm on a Saturday night and can't get a table, it speaks volumes about the quality of the place, and only the self-entitled have left 1 star reviews because of this. The Tom Yum is fiercely spicy but doesn't sacrifice flavour for heat, the Pad Kee Mao is always a winner and the portion sizes are generous. I would recommend the Nam Tok Moo - it's an all-time favourite and the delicate balance of flavours/spices is masterful. I highly recommend Thai Aroy Dee to anyway who enjoys Thai cuisine, or anyone wishing to expand their tastes across Asia. Do not be put off by the "rude waiter" reviews - try running a popular and often fully-booked restaurant whilst dealing with people constantly turning up without a reservation and tell me it's not stressful! If you're looking for authentic Thai food at a very competitive price, look no further.

Don’t visit if you’re black. I was at the door and was met by someone who worked there. I asked for a table for two, and we had no booking, so we knew that there was a chance we wouldn’t be seated. Immediately afterwards, two men asked for a table for two and were told that they would be seated. DO NOT COME if you are a black person.

Was told there was no space for a party of 2 only to see the people behind us be given a table with no reservation. Rude and dismissive staff

Went here last weekend with friends as it was our first visit to the City. Went into the Restaurant and was confronted by a very unfriendly and rude Front of House male who asked if we had booked. I tried to explain that we had not which he just shouted No waved his arms in the air turned around and walked off. We stood there for about 30 seconds as I actually thought he was joking. Clearly not. Not a good advert for the first Restaurant you go into on a first visit. Perhaps some training might be useful. My partner is a Catering Manager and she was appalled by his behaviour. Wouldn’t go back if they paid me. Avoid

Lunch meal deal is fantastic value! We visited with high and hopeful expectations but left a little disappointed, describing it overall as "okay". Of the four plates we had, three were very nice but one red curry main was light on flavour. We prefer Mommy Thai for food, service and atmosphere.

Great place to go on a Saturday lunchtime. Busy in a good way, great food and service. Simple enough menu and great value at £9.95 for meal, side and rice. Recommended.

Appalling customer service, booked for 7pm table for 3, they gave us a table for 4 next to the door. With a young child this table was too cold. There were 3 table of 4 empty but refused to us. I asked 3 times if we could moved and explained why it was too cold for a 5 year old. Didn’t try make any effort, rude and dismissive. Would not move us when asked. Decided to leave without ordering. poor customer service!

By far the best restaurant in Leeds in this price range

You need to take at least 30mins for waiting for the meal. But the food is nice.

Not sure what happened on second visit but was left disappointed. Chicken satay was cold, Pad Gra Prow was lacking in flavour. Place is very tired looking and in need of a refurb.

Poor service. Waited 30 minutes for the food and I had 0 complaint. However, immediately after I finished eating, the staff came to remove my plates and immediately asked me to pay while I am still having my drinks, without saying anything.

Finally got a reasonable price Thai restaurant. Foods are lovely compared with the price you pay. Serve Thai milk tea is my favorite.

The portions become small, the staff speak poor English, they managed to make two mistakes with our food, brought the wrong food and not listening to our request even though they said they will. Made me pay for portion I didn't order, not going to visit again!! Poor

This used to be a great place. Staff were miserable, no smiling at all. Food was terrible. My chicken green curry smelt terrible. Like it was rotten meat. The spring rolls weren’t much better. Won’t be going again.

I went to this restaurant with my family. It was very busy. After ordering, we waited for 25 minutes for our food. We ordered Tom kha soup which was very, very salty. Also ordered sizzling lamb ( medium cooked) , very tough and chewy. Overall we didn’t enjoy our food. Didn’t taste authentic. Very unlikely to visit again.

It takes forever to be sited. Once we were sitted we found out that the table smells horrible and we needed to find another table. It took 55 minutes (checked with phone) to get first dishes. The food is mediocre at best. DO NOT ORDER BEEF. They got probably the lowest possible grade and it's not eatable. At the end we found out that they forgot about our dessert. Try to complain about the food and the owner or manager will yell at you and tell to never come back! Dirty, smelly, slow and not tasty. Welcome to the worst Thai restaurant in Leeds.

You can eat the taste of Thailand in Leeds. It is very close to the taste of Thailand and very delicious. This is my third visit and the quality has been maintained every time. There are also very discounted lunch menus

Gave me the worst dining experience in UK ever. Being yelled by a server (I believe he is the manager, or even the owner of the restaurant) with no reason on a Saturday night, not recommend anyone to go.

The food was amazing. We went on a Sunday night didn't book but it didn't matter they found us a table quickly and service was fine. We got 4 starters, 3 mains, 3 sides and a main noodle dish with extra meat plus drinks for £75. Honestly can't recommend enough it was amazing! I'll be back soon

Where do I begin? Coming from London I never thought I would find a Thai restaurant as good as one back home. However, Thai Aroy Dee has some of the most authentic Thai dishes outside of Thailand and by far the best in Leeds. Some of their best include their cashew nut fried rice, their Radnah noodles, and their steamed seafood rice noodles. Their Pad Thai is also some of the best I have ever tasted. Value for money is also amazing and whilst food might take a while to come out it is 100% worth the wait.

Best Thai food I ever had including Thailand.

This is easily the best casual thai food eatery in Leeds. I have been going here for many years now, often mulitple times a week. It can get busy so food can sometimes take a bit longer, but I have never had a complaint when it arives! Staff, especially Benny, are all great and will always help when I cannot decide what to get!
