Divine food. This is my go-to place anytime I want to eat nourishing and tasty food. I glow for days on end after eating here 🥰 They serve the most delicious, authentic Thai Malaysian food that you will eat. Even my daughter who is a fussy, and anxious eater loves it here. YES! YES! We visited Nan's Thai and Malaysian Cafe (named differently on Trip Advisor for some reason) before a gig. We wanted something light, quick and delicious - Nan's did the trick! Situated opposite Hyde Park, Nan's is a small eat in cafe type establishment. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The menu was excellent, varied and great value for money. We shared a mixed starter platter with fried wantons, prawn toast, chicken satay and some hefty veg spring rolls. All of them delicious and served hot with sweet chilli and a peanut sauce. We shared a lot of Jasmin tea to refresh the pallet. I had a chicken Gaeng Kiew Wan (green curry) with egg fried rice. It was delicious, fragrant, slightly spicy with some nicely booked veg. My dining partner had a really good pork Mee Wonton soup. Again, fragrant, tasty stock and soft slices of pork. We were in and out within 30 mins but could have easily stayed longer if we weren't in a rush. The mish mash cutlery and dishes added a really nice home feel about the place and if you wanted to they do corkage for bring your own booze too. Totally recommend this place if you're in the area and fancy something spicy on a budget.

Just visited this recently today around 19:10. The food arrived in under 5 minutes. The curry isn’t a curry. It’s curry flavoured water with limp, soggy frozen vegetables. The boiled rice mushy and sticky, instead of fluffy and loose. The tofu was the only thing that was edible. I had a 3 spoonfuls of the rice and ate all the tofu, as I hadn’t eaten all day. I wish I could of complained at the time but the waiter didn’t care to come round to ask “how the food was”, or notice my signalling at all. I sat there staring at the dreaded plates for almost 25 mins. I just decided to cut my losses and pay for the “food”. And decided to go home and cook for myself. Give this place a miss. I don’t recommend it, which is a shame. I thought that with the 5 star google reviews it would of been a better place, sadly it isn’t. My friend liked his pad Thai though, he said it was nice.

Had a very nice meal here. Spring rolls were really good and big choice for vegetarians and vegans. Also good service. Some of the food was a bit intense on the soya sauce and salt front though. We also tried two different banana puddings. The deep fried bananas were really good. Not heavy even though they were battered. The ones with in a coconut milk soup were ok but the milk was way too sweet for m. All in all a great little place and excellent value for money. Very good value for money.

A lovely Thai/Malaysian restaurant. Close to uni, not very big with interesting vibe&decor. Good selection with a cheap price. The portion was not big. The curry my friends had were pretty good, a bit watery but tasty. The fried rice I ordered was flavoury. Considering the price it was worth the money. Spacious, clean and tidy restaurant. During our visits at different time, we realised they might have new owners but they kept the same name and business. They had new menu, new foods but their foods are as good as they always are. Tasty southern Indian foods, good selections at a good price. You can talk to the staff to get plant-based foods and I like the variety I had in my cuisine.

The food is nothing special, more chinese than thai if im being honest. Not completley tasteless but not the tastiest thai food in the world. I would give ot a 3 star but two factors narrowly gove this place a 4. 1) the staff are very nice location is very cozy right outside hyde park and the option to eat in can never be turned down. An extra .5 stars 2) the meal deal before 5pm is a game changer. Regardless of how good or bad the food is 7 quid for a starter and a main is too good not too pass. Before 5pm i wpuld reccomend this place simply because of how cheap the food is main for 5 pound can actually be cheaper than making lunch yourself. Past 5pm however unless you are really craving asian food and your nearby find somewhere else.

This is my favourite place to eat. No fuss, no frills, just tasty fresh authentic food, served quickly and at a very reasonable price. Really can't fault it. It's great for a quick lunch, evening meal or takeaway. ' I can only echo the restaurant's comments out the previous reviewer being uneducated- they clearly didn't have a clue what they were ordering. The aged chicken leg they refer to is a fantastic dish called Nasi Lemak- one of my absolute favourites (it is Malaysian, not Thai, which it does clearly state on the menu) and is as good as I have had actually in Malaysia! May's/Nan's staff- keep doing what you do, I love it. Every single person I have taken here for food has been back and taken more people along. Says it all really

Fat Friday again folks!! So thought we'd try this small family cafe serving up Thai/Malaysian food. We shared spicy fishcakes and steamed pork dumplings for starters, then had chicken pad prik gaeng and chicken chow mein for mains. Food generally was great, fish cakes were a little so so, but for the price, it was fine, we only paid £14 for all this. We ordered over the phone and the food was ready, when they said it would be. Portion sizes for lunch were perfect too. Location is in the heart of the student area of Leeds, parking wasn't a problem either. The staff were all very polite, informative and friendly. Might pop back in, if I'm in the area and when the restrictions have been lifted 👍

If the food wasn’t disappointing enough the people were even worse. Where do I start? My housemates and I were looking forward to a lovely Thai meal- as we so often enjoy and decided to try a new eatery. Big mistake. We ordered £40 worth of Thai food and were so excited. Food was ready in 15 minutes, we picked it up and began to plate up! A list of what was wrong with the food: Beef was barely cooked, curry sauce was watered down, satay chicken smelt of feet, coconut rice had no hint of coconut, soggy chips, the amount of chilli was enough to use in serval dishes and the worst meal was what appeared to be a 3 day old chicken leg served on a bed of microwaved rice and crispy anchovies. We were not happy. We rang up immediately and politely explained we were hugely disappointed, only to be told that they did not care for what we had to say, that we would not get a full refund, aggressive words with which we eventually bargained for an 80% refund and no apology. It doesn’t stop there. When we went back to get the refund we were told we were uneducated and to not order from their restaurant again if we did not know how to eat Thai food, we were told to F*CK off and were hurried out of the restaurant before we even had a chance to speak! We were also given old English money as the refund so had to go back a third time to get money we could actually use again. Never in my life have I been more embarrassed for an establishment, do not go here!!

I've not tried the Thai food here, but tried the Malaysian, the char kway teow to be exact. Do NOT do this. It was one of the nastiest dishes I had in Leeds. I know what it's supposed to be like because I'm Singaporean! I got an incredibly salty nigh-inedible version of hor fun (stir fried kway teow) that was the colour of dirty river water, and which had WAY too much watery sauce (ckt has a thick gooeyish sauce). Showed it to friends and family back home who reacted with appropriate horror. All this for 6-7 quid. I wouldn't eat it again if you paid me to. It's possible that their Thai is better, but if so I highly recommend that they don't serve their "Malaysian" food, because it'll be a traumatic experience for anyone from Singapore or Malaysia particularly, who might have been expecting something else...

This is a great little café if you’re in a hurry. The food came within 10 minutes of ordering. Having just come back from Thailand, I was after some authentic Thai food. It was ok, not amazing, and nothing like I’d had in Thailand. The Thai green curry was nice, although I found it rather strange to see cucumber in this dish. That being said, it was quite tasty. The rice was a bit disappointing, no jasmine rice on the menu so I went for boiled but it was rather dry. Spring rolls were nice. The Thai tea was very sweet, although I’ve never had it before so this may be nothing out of the ordinary. This café is by no means posh and could do with some colour, but it’s great for a quick meal and perfect for single travellers. It’s also right by the uni of Leeds. I would eat here again, certainly within the happy hour (meal and rice for £5).

My son, who is in uni digs close by, was keen to take us to this popular student eatery. The eating space has a mix of chairs, benches and cafeteria tables and felt rather strange - like eating in someone's kitchen - especially as when we arrived all the cafe workers were tucking into their evening meal round one of the tables. Most of our food was good - my wife was disappointed with her chow mein, but our mixed starters did the job and I enjoyed my king prawn stir fry with noodles which had fresh ingredients and nice flavours. Similarly my son was very satisfied with his red thai curry. Being excellent value it's not surprising this is a good place to eat.

This place is cheap and fits in the ‘real Thai style’ bracket but mythai, mummy Thai and Jinos are way better, I guess the draw is the location. Prawn toast cost over £4 and tasted like Sainsbury’s frozen, Penang curry was ok with a good amount of chicken, fried rice tasted odd.. first time I’ve felt a bit queasy after Thai food. Perfect little eatery on the edge of the park that hosts some of the best and authentic Thai food I've eaten in a while. The portions are huge on the belly and light on the wallet so it's no surprise it's a hit with the local students in the area. They keep their overheads low by charging a small corkage for BYOB so it's ideal for a cheap date night or just some food on the go. I would definitely recommend booking when term time as there can be wait times for this gem of a place. A must if hanging in Hyde park. Bonus: one of my fave toilets in Leeds

Have had a cold for some time so went for the hottest thing on the menu I could find. May’s uses the chilli rating for their curries which inal ads find helpful. The curry was reasonably hot but I have had ‘worse’ but I was not disappointed. No alcohol for sale but you’re are quite welcome to bring your own. Food was ok but the service was terrible honestly. We had a reservation but waited in the doorway for 20-30 minutes just to get a table abd although we were there during the happy hour, because we didn't place the order before the happy hour ended, they didn't want to give us the Happy Hour offer. It's disappointing because the reason why we couldn't place the order quicker is exactly their poor table management. I won't rush back for sure!

A superb visit to Sukhothai! We had the Sunday Buffet, all brilliantly cooked and presented. Service is exceptional, super efficient. The highlight was how kind and helpful they were to our kids (both under 4) who ate for free. They repeatedly offered to cook something different for them if the buffet was too spicy. Plus offered them ice cream for dessert instead.

This charming establishment offers an extensive menu of authentic Thai dishes that never fails to impress. Upon entering, guests are immediately greeted by the restaurant's thoughtful Oriental-inspired decor. The ambiance successfully captures the essence of Thai culture, enhancing the overall dining experience. One of my favourite things about visiting this restaurant is its staff. The service team is invariably helpful and greets patrons with warm, genuine smiles. Their attentiveness and friendly demeanour contribute significantly to the restaurant's welcoming atmosphere. Once seated the menu is a treasure trove of Thai culinary delights, featuring a wide array of dishes that cater to various tastes and preferences, despite me been a creature of habit and mainly sticking to one of my top 4 choices number 1 being the Chicken Massmann curry. Each plate is prepared with care, showcasing the rich colours and flavours of aromatic spices of Thai cuisine. The quality of the food consistently exceeds expectations, especially considering the reasonable pricing. While the exterior of the building and its surroundings might not immediately catch the eye, don't let this deter you. Thai Sun Restaurant is a prime example of why one should never judge a book by its cover. Step inside, and you'll discover a world of delicious Thai cuisine and hospitality that will keep you coming back time and time again.
