Tesco Extra in South Cambridgeshire

It was 8pm and my wife had sent me off to Tesco with a list of stuff I had no idea about where to look (apart from the blueberries). So, I disturbed a member of staff with a colleague who were on a computer. I asked where I could find one item. He stopped what he was doing and took me to where it should be. Empty shelf. He checked his hand held device and dutifully went to the storeroom. Unfortunately, they were out of stock despite the hand held saying they had some. I trundled off searching for the last item. Failed. Nabbed him again - straight to it. Top service. In fact, as I wandered off to pay, he saw me and asked if I needed any more assistance. First class - his name was Jordan. I hope his manager sees this and thanks him again for me.

Terrible personal femenino. Muy grosero con el cliente. Pensar que hablar con su amiga sobre Instagram era más importante que servir a sus clientes. Mis manos estaban llenas, le pedí que bajara mi café para poder recogerlo, ella se quedó allí sosteniéndola. Como gerente, creo firmemente que esta mujer necesita más capacitación en hospitalidad y servicio al cliente. No recomendaría ser atendido por esta persona. Por favor revise su personal, muy intimidante y muy grosero.

Vamos temprano un jueves por la mañana a nuestra tienda semanal y a mi esposo le encanta comprar un periódico y luego ir a tomar un café y tomar un pan du raisin. Me coge a tiempo a ayudar a destapar las tiendas de la cinta transportadora y el paquete. Perfecto. De esta manera puedo comprar en paz y disfrutar de la ayuda adicional cuando sea necesario. Una situación ganadora en todos los sentidos.

Ordered the main full English breakfast option - of the vegetarian variety - and it was served quickly. The lady taking my order and waiting the tables was kind and made sure to clean everything away once it was finished with promptly. Good service in that respect. The food, like the americano chosen to go with it, is insipid and basic. The coffee was very weak. Whilst the sausages, eggs and beans are okay and, most importantly edible, don’t expect any flair. It’s a classic Tesco Cafe experience - you know what you’re going to get.

We visited Tesco cafe on Saturday lunchtime for a quick bite to eat which turned into an hour of frustration and waiting. Staff were more concerned about chatting to customers than clearing the tables and serving food . Several customers could be heard complaining to staff about the wait for food. Even when food was on the servery it took staff ten minutes to take it to the correct table. You cannot leave as you pay first on order. There was no management present and a total lackadaisical attitude by the young staff . Clearly there had been no customer service training to the cafe staff who frequently disappeared into the kitchen for long periods Chefs were also seen eating food with their fingers behind the kitchen counter whilst plating up meals. Tesco management should overhaul the cafe or give it to an outside contractor to improve

Called as a family for breakfast, short queue, friendly staff, clean and tidy, food was quickly served, nice and hot, young lad bringing food was very friendly and hard working.

I've used Tesco Cafe for years but boy has it gone downhill The staff seem really unhappy and are complaining about all-sorts and it seems to be in a mess The need a good manager in there to sort them out and teach them to give Service with a Smile and if you don't like the job...leave rather than curdle the milk Most times I have visited and small dark haired lady with a broom comes up and chats to the staff ..more complaining.... If you order breakfast it's usually cold ..the place has really gone downhill Too much for me I like a nice peaceful ambient atmosphere

The staff are very friendly and the facilities spotlessly clean. I ordered the all day breakfast with a latte. The latte was hot and the food wasn't long before it was brought to my table but unfortunately it was only lukewarm. I paid extra too for black pudding but sadly it was so dry it was inedible. Just your average Tesco cafe outlet food wise but the staff are excellent.

As expected for a supermarket good value good friendly service clean and tidy well located store generally

Brought my wife the mac and cheese for lunch while i had the big breakfast. When the mac and cheese came out, well there was nothing to it the bowl just had enough pasta to cover the bottom of the bowl. and we were told its portion control. If was more like a borrower's dinner and paying near £6 for the meal was a joke and there was no garlic bread with it. So had let the wife have some of my dinner to make it up. We're told they are thinking of getting rid of the breakfast and replacing it with this so call mac and cheese sh-t.

Good shopping experience, well laid out and straight forward... the downstairs caff serves fantastic coffee, whereas the upstairs caff serves very tasty meals for a decent price. The range of foods isn’t massive but has the classic British styled foods. Definitely would recommend it for your weekly grocery trips!

This cafe has had a lot of changes over the past few months. A new manager has improved it so much, excellent friendly staff, good menu, quick service and clean surroundings. If you've not popped in for a while give it a go.

We got stuck here on our way back to Cambridge because of traffic problems. The staff in the Cafe were really good. The range of clothing was surprisingly good and of course the groceries we needed were all available.

Arrived here for breakfast as staying at local Travelodge. Excellent breakfast and helpful friendly staff. We then shopped and was pleased to find flowers and a vase for a family grave. Good clean store with ample parking.

This is one of the largest Tesco Extra's in the country. It is normally well stocked with groceries, as well as clothing, electricals, home and garden wares. Clean and bright it also has a coffee shop and restaurant. Even a key cutters outside.

It's a large shop, you name it, they've probably got it. the upstairs cafe has friendly, efficient staff. The fresh fruit & veg and takeaway food sections are very good too for a big range of food to grab & go.

Terrifically big Tesco, apparently one of the largest in the country, with huge arrays of electronics and general other goods which you’d typically find here. Not been to the Cafe.

I was visiting Bar Hill on business and thought I'd go to the cafe for tea rather than go for the expensive restaurant in the hotel. I arrived in the cafe around 5pm and looked at the menu. It stated "All day breakfast" but I thought that I'd go for the fish and chips. After giving my choice to the guy behind the counter, I found that they had run out of fish and chips, and basically all food had finished and the kitchen was closed. So, "All day breakfast" was a bit of a lie? I resigned myself to getting some bits from the cold take out section downstairs. The shop was ok; they actually had white wine chilled. But, next time I visit, I won't bother.

When this cafe first opened (when new upper floor was installed), it was I think run by Costa, and their meals were excellent, especially the creamy lasagna, and ham/egg/chip

This has to be one of the worst places I have ever eaten. I with some friends stopped here for breakfast the other morning, I ordered their Bigger breakfast and a coffee I was given a metal number to identify my table when the breakfast was ready.

Where do I start .....they open at 9.30 Sunday’s, I went there at 10.50.

I came into Tesco’s the other day to do some Christmas shopping and decided to stop in the cafe for a break. Well what I saw was absolutely awful.

My partner and I came here on Saturday 04/11 at 11:15. I feel this is important so Tesco, if they care, can maybe train the member of staff I am about the complain about. I have also written to Tesco about this incident but haven't heard anything back.

Went here for a quick lunch after hospital visit. Don't expect much for a Tesco Cafe but to start with, it would be nice if they had the food. One cheeseburger meal and 2 chilli jacket potatoes. No Jackets. Really, at 1.30pm?? Was not told that there would be a wait - just that they didn't have them. Okay, one bowl of chilli, and one chilli with chips instead of jacket. The tattooed server (complete with clingfilm taped arm with I presume, a fresh tattoo) had to ask a manager if we could have that. Not sure why, it was a potato swap. Anyway, whilst the queue built up she eventually said yes and then spent several minutes trying to find the right buttons. Eventually calling a manager to deal with this terribly complicated order. Sat and waited, first meal came out, chilli and chips came out. Then nothing. Waited some more and a bowl of chilli came out with a salad (not asked for). Waited for another 5 minutes when i got up to ask where the rest of our meal order was. She said it hadn't been a minutes since the others had come out (obviously was keeping an eye on the timings of our food whilst taking orders and payments). She went up and reminded them that a burger meal was missing. Eventually when it came, I stated that it would have been nice to have it all together as food was now going cold for my mum and daughter. She said nothing - not an apology or anything, just gave us a dirty look and went off. To sum up; service at counter - needs more training and preferably covering up of fresh tattoo, kitchen staff - really? Its easy - put burger on, chips in fryer, salad on plate, chilli in microwave, SERVE TOGETHER, service from hatch - too much attitude and too little apology. Won't bother coming again, nothing special food, portions tiny, and what do you know - by the time they served all our meals, jacket potatoes were going out from the kitchen again.

This was a very different experience for this Tesco Cafe. Well organised, Order, collect drinks and sit down for waitress service. I ordered the large breakfast and it was a lot for me. Next visit I will order the standard. Certainly go back again. Clean and tidy. Food was great.

45 mins for hot food, no cakes, dirty floors and tables covered with dirty crockery. One lady clearing up and slow disinterested staff of two serving. Appallingly.

Went in today with my daughter while shopping. Stopped for a panini and a coffee. When I got to to the counter the rather ‘bored’ cashier told me it was a 45 minute wait for ‘hot’ food. I asked if this applied to paninis. She replied ‘yes as they’re cooked in ticket order’ I said it’s a panini not a fried breakfast you just put it in a machine to heat it. She told me ‘it’s still hot food and they’re cooked in order’ As I told her I would leave it then she then rolled her eyes to the next customers in the queue and went on to moan about me to them. Delightful customer service.

after being on the road for hours I was in need of refreshments,so I stopped at Tesco's.

We popped in on Sunday to grab some lunch before doing our shop. We went to order hot food from behind the counter to be told "only stuff in the fridge" in a very blunt tone by the scruffily dressed Manager. There was no explanation given as to why they had suddenly stopped serving hot food (this was at 2.30pm), despite other people in the cafe eating hot food that had been served to them.

Visited here for breakfast, cafe upstairs, scrambled eggs on toast were the worst I've ever had. Bland tasteless watery eggs, not freshly made, I think pre-packed and microwaved, they made the toast so soggy that, that was also inedible. Told they didn't have any orange juice either, in a supermarket???? Won't be visiting again, on the way out spotted the downstairs cafe which looked 100% better.

Very helpful staff, could always ask for help when I didn't find anything. Offers a huge variety of products, and has even a huge F&F; store upstairs. If you live around Cambridge its definitely worth a visit, since it's cheaper than shopping in Cambridge. 👍

Always stop here on my travels as this has the 2nd biggest clothing section in the country. Get items here that do not appear at all the other stores. Goos for a weekly shop as well if I did not live so far away, however worth a visit every now and again to update wardrobe.

this is a large tesco store with all that you would expect from such a place. easy access to the A14

Did my shopping on line as it was the school holiday and I no how busy it can get the delivery was on time and the driver was lovely... tues night between 8-9 not sure what his name was but perfect service

It's in a huge supermarket so let's have a sense of perspective and realistic expectations! I think that the coffee is superb ( my number 1 criteria for a coffee shop strangely enough) the cheese scone is excellent, the cafe's own music choice of 70s and 80s music suits us ( Donna Summer playing as I type) and the armchairs are quality seating. The service is efficient and I enjoy the ambience amongst the hustle bustle atmosphere of a a busy store. Free Wifi also and no sense of the staff hurrying you along. So a very relaxing hour spent reading newspapers before the chore of a weekly shop. In addition this is probably the supermarket with the biggest selection of goods in the county. Can understand why it's not everyone's cup of tea (coffee/chocolate) but in comparison on a like-for-like basis it is a class act.

Bin geschäftlich öfters in Bar Hill. Tesco ist einer der wenigen Geschäfte in dem kleinen Ort. Hier bekommt man einfach alles. Preislich gesehen sind einige Dinge teurer als hier, andere aber wiederum billiger. Etwa Medikamente sind um ein Vielfaches günstiger. Öffnungszeiten sind genial, unter der Woche rund um die Uhr. Man kann einkaufen wann man möchte. Und bekommt somit zu jeder Uhrzeit etwas zu essen. Klamotten sind auch relativ günstig, gerade was Anzüge betrifft.

This store sells everything you might expect but it's far from a pleasant experience. Car park was very full,pharmacy was particularly slow and busy.

Had breakfast was not very nice tomates luke warm won't bother again ,staff were friendly enough, store itself is very good sell just about everything

Like this resturant been here a few times when coming to new square or shopping in Tesco, offer hot and cold food (things like sandwiches, jacket potatoes and hot dinners), staff friendly and food generally good the only downside is the size it's quite small and gets quite full and the tables are sometimes not cleaned promptly this would not be something that would put me off coming here though.

Have used this cafe several times, food used to be good but things have slipped, recently had a jacket potato with cheese and beans, the beans were luke warm the potato was not piping hot as expected, new thing they have introduced, toasties, sadly the top slice gets toasted but the bottom slice is a piece of soggy bread, also the food is served on cold plates which makes the food cool down quicker.

I like it here and it is a BIG supermarket. Also I find the range of products much more varied then other stores. Its quite impressive to visit.

Purchased a fried breakfast.... served on a cold plate, so bacon, fried bread and even the baked beans were cold. Didn't complain there as the food had come straight of their 'hot' cabinet so a replacement breakfast would have been the same temperature.

I used to love this store but since they got rid of a big chunk and downsized I don't any longer to many . Com trollies, and crowed isles.

Large Superstore with two on site cafes. Plenty of staff available to assist.Good selection of Hot and Cold food available and ample car parking.

Very large grocery shop which also sells clothes and electrical goods. The cafe is the standard Tesco cheap and cheery food with decent enough prices. Wide range of food goods including American and some Eastern European items.

everything you need. I bought a buggy for £15 and holiday snacks, the chicken salad was delicious. Enjoyable trip!

Tesco Bar Hill is only 3 miles out of Cambridge and have the best selections of food and drinks by far. I'm an regular out here and the General Manager do a very good job every day with no fault.

I stop here most mornings as I work uP the A1 and often grab lunch from here on the way

Huge Tesco with two levels, two cafes: Tesco serving Costa coffee and a Harris and Hoole. Good variety of clothing on first floor and huge variety of food, drink, books, stationary, electronics and homeware on bottom floor.

They had a wide selection of stock and many community schemes. Lovely. The staff were helpful and kind.

Went to Tescos as the weather was lovely to set up a BBQ. For the size (extra) it has everything you would expect. The staff are helpful. Biggest gripe would be parking, it can be difficult to find a parking space at peek times.

Standard Tesco Extra. Nice multi-cultural section of food. Bugles were a pound.Loads of parking and petrol station.

There are 2 coffee outlets within this branch of Tesco, one on ground floor and one upstairs next to the clothing department. The Tesco coffee shop is upstairs, and provides the basic meals and coffee enough to keep you sustained for the rest of the shopping experience.

Wife forgot her phone charger staff where really helpful nice clean store nice staff very well payed out and easy to find things and 24 hour opening also has a cafe up staird

I like coming here every so often instead of my local Tesco store. I am pleased the clothing section has been expended and now sells more. Plenty of tills open both staffed and self service. Never eaten in the cafe so can't comment on that.

I've been living here less than a month so I was pleasantly surprised to find Tesco. Everything under 1 roof shopping. It reminds me of Walmart but Tesco has much higher quality food & clothes. Having a good quality coffee shop helps too!

One Italian staff serving the customers was a bit loud serving and they didn't know what had run out and was still available. Just came in for lemonade that was nice but his loud voice put me off while I was drinking. He called me boss! Lol! Must have had a lot of customers cause the place was messy. Staff need retraining on customer service and a smiley face. One customer was not happy and arguing with staff. This place needs the manager to be trained.

Welcome to Tesco! The dullest boring most place on earth. For excitement go on a Saturday morning and have your ankles bashed by various trolleys. For more excitement go on a Friday before a bank Holiday, you will think they will be closed for the next 14 days.

The staff were great but the breakfast was only luke warm with a hard egg and a slightly undercooked sausage. However the egg was changed by the waiter who did ask if we were happy. Wouldn't rush back.

Its a big store, nothing special. It's like any other store just bigger. Although the clothes department is upstairs which is a bonus.

This Tesco is huge like a shopping mall. There are lots of different kinds of product which I have never seen in other Tesco before. The cafe is very grand and the food is alright.

This place makes Walmart look like child's play. They have high quality products and dirt cheap prices. I was amazed. And its freaking HUGE.

It’s a supermarket café, not a Michelin starred restaurant, I think people’s expectations might be a little overstated. The food is tasty, good value and service is fine, no problems at all. It’s actually better than I would expect from a supermarket café… its usually stale sandwiches, microwaved spuds and reheated chilli but the food here tastes fresh and its well cooked.

We have been to this cafe about 3 times now. I admit, only for breakfast, but the food was great. There was a good selection and it could be varied within reason. It was well cooked and presented. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and tidy with a comfortable layout. Well worth a visit.

Fabulous store. Nice coffee shop downstairs and great Costa upstairs - they do nice breakfasts at a very reasonable price. Could spend ages in this store.

Went back here to see if it has got better !! it hasn't . Tesco branded cafe which also thinks its Costa. Same two on the counter both unidentifiable as name badges removed. Two customers walked out after arguments with the staff they were the lucky ones . Issued with a plate of slop called 8 item breakfast . Sad end to the Tesco breakfast of old. Its also as the staff said not a proper Costa .

We recently went into the restaurant whilst shopping and it was ok nothing special. We did have to wait a while for our food even though it wasn't that busy. The food my children had seemed ok but i have to say i was a bit disappointed with the lack of vegetarian options. I don't think i would eat here regularly.

You can walk to this Tesco from the hotel, which is handy. There are a few other shops in the precinct as well, including a Next.

Been here several times. You can literally find everything you need and much cheaper then rivals like currys and home base etc. The store now has a garden centre which is a pleasant addition. It's big enough to make you walk that 500 steps for your daily eggs , bread and milk. The only flip side is its parking. The entrance to the parking lot if hazardous. So take care.

We visited the cafe (1st floor) last week on a Tuesday morning. There were around a dozen tables taken but the cafe seemed quiet.

Seems to me that people are expecting too much from a supermarket cafe and being far too fussy.

Massive shop lots of choice staff really helpful, you can catch a bus into town, there is also a tyre replacement shop they do it while you shop

Popped in after dinner at a local pub to get late night snacks as we were staying at a local hotel so did not use the cafe - not actually a fan of Tesco however this was a very large store and convenient and we were able to get the different the items required easily.

Thought I would treat me and my wife to lunch for the first time in tescos cafe, I ordered a coke and a costa ice latte, a paini and fried breakfast, I was told there would be a 30 minute wait for the food, I thought OK ,

Thought we would try 'The Cafe' in Bar Hill Tesco for lunch before commencing the weekly shop.

However one feels about the chain, this store certainly makes it easy for the independent traveller to stock up on practically any need imaginable in one place.

I am a Tesco fan and this Tesco Extra is one of their best. Huge store, good parking, always well stocked AND it has a Harris & Hoole coffee shop. GREAT

My husband had the pulled pork burger and I had the bbq bacon cheeseburger, they came with lettuce, coleslaw and chips. There was plenty of food, all tasted fresh and hot. The burger was so tasty, better than in other more expensive restaurants. Great value, arrived in good time, friendly staff. Will definitely visit again when we need a burger fix.

This place is the US's equivalent of a Wal-Mart. It has everything--you can buy anything from groceries and liquor to an entire outfit.

Me and my mum decided to pop up to the new cafe for a bite of food before shopping, I ordered some food and it arrived with things on it that it didn't state on the menu in which I couldn't eat. So it was sent back and eventually arrived back 20 minutes later after talking to a member of staff for a second time.

we were shopping in tescos bar hill and saw that they have made a new cafe upstairs, so we decided to take the kids up to it and have some lunch, we wish we hadnt.... i can honestly say it was the most disgusting meal we have ever tasted the sausages were gross, undercooked and looked awful, chips were cold and as for the eggs .. miserable staff and to see a female chef on her phone while apparantly working is a disgrace, tescos you should be ashamed of yourselves for having this shambles of a cafe on your premises i would tell people not to visit
