Good size store! Easy to navigate.

Good quality and variety with decent prices.

Tescos Portman road Reading, a lady named Maggy was very helpful and calm as I was panicking about my car that had problems, she was very kind in helping me with the issue whilst staying calm, which then helped me stay calm. She put my number plate within the system so that I wouldn’t get a ticket for stopping there to long. A big thank you to her.

No main tills open in evening. Very busy everyone pushed through self scan. Not enough staff, nobod available y to inform when I had to go back for an item . Of course they had cleared away my scanned shopping when I got back , and refused to help me scan it again. Tried to raise it with "supervisor" didn't get a helpful response

Bit annoyed. Lady with curly grey hair and flower chatted to my child and I in a friendly manner. However, I didnt realise she was reprinting out my receipt, looked through it and suddenly said "I think you've not paid for your sellotape and brown paper, darling " in a very patronising voice. I wouldn't mind but it was from B&M and as anyone that shops at B&M is aware - they clearly label products with a blue price tag (this was visable). Not only that but Tesco doesn't sell the brown paper I'd purchased earlier at B&M! Perhaps get to know your products and have a good look prior to printing a receipt unbeknownst to customers as they're getting ready to leave, ey? **I write this and hope you catch my patronising tone** Otherwise the store isn't too bad. Cashiers are very friendly usually, it's a shame one let it down in this case. I felt really annoyed as I left because other customers were looking at me. Another said after "That's no way to talk to a paying customer " and I agreed.

What supermarket doesn’t have toilets?

Glad I pulled up at 11pm because it's not 24 hours anymore. Which is a shame because I rather do my shopping when it's quiet rather than a Saturday afternoon. It's a big store but nothing special. I don't like the layout. The aisles are all mixed up and there's lots of products they don't stock. They don't do 6 pint bottles of milk. What a waste of a journey and it's the closest one to me.

The main entrance and the parking aren't well illuminated.

Despite being late on a Saturday night the young member of staff was extremely helpful and very kind!

To get to toilet u have to go through checkout and then into costa.

Tesco reading west is 2nd biggest Tesco Extra In Reading. Very convenient and clean store. It has verity of products from clothing to Asian food. It has in store pharmacy and options. You will find something for everyone. Very huge free car park on site as well as car wash in parking lots.

Can be quite busy depending on time but the range of products is excellent as are the prices, especially if you have a Clubcard.

Received parking charge notice from Horizon Parking. Literally there is nowhere else to park in this area but Tesco has 1000 parking spaces for which it sends tickets. Complete joke and robbery.

Self service, understand they have to do a spot check and scan your items but when they put items back in the bag, they don't care if it squashes other items.......

Visit date : 16:03:2024 time : 1700-1800 One of the worst experience I’ve ever had with this tesco store. I went to shop at this store via train, filled my basket and went to a self service checkout. After scanning my shopping, I ask for bag for life and the staff said we run out plastic bags (£0.30) if you want bags you have to buy the premium priced bags or carry in your hands. I then ask for the Checkout manager and when she came she was just as unhelpful and walked off. Left with no other choice, I had to leave all my shopping there, which I’d travelled for because it’s the closest superstore. It wasn’t the price of the bags, it was the principle of the matter that counts. Thank you for wasting my time, I would rather shop at the local Aldi in the future.

Absolutely dead, no life, staff are not welcoming at all and would prefer to ignore you. No hot food counter other than Costa. And that's not Tesco's. Only use for me was the toilet. What a shame. Sad store. Leak at the front door with black buckets catching it. Major trip hazard. Does not make me want to shop there at all.

Extremely cold , the management is really poorly and entire store is frozen. I know they have to save money but not at this stage.

Always get what I want for good value

My go-to place for groceries. For years I haven't had one instance I couldn't find what I was looking for. Most of the staff are happy to help me find the product.

Very bad experience this evening at about 18:20hours. One of the staff named Merish was so rude, not helpful in self checkout counter. She should have costumer service training.👎️👎️👎️

I had the most lovely lady called Agnes who helped me to my car when I was feeling extremely poorly

All you need, you'll find here. Has a pharmacy inside and a bank ATM outside. It also has battary discarding post, photo booth and costa coffee show inside.

Had to stop because i needed a toilet bad...guess what..it was perfect. It was clean..smelled decent..but what impressed me the most is that i dropped a massive load in...it was so much you couldn't see the water anymore...but..i flushed..and it took it all away. Also good amount of toilet paper!

Like all Tesco stores, prices have risen with no good reason. There's far more self service checkouts than staffed ones. The store isn't particularly easy to navigate, especially when it's busy.

Just had the worst experience in this tescos as you can see by the time I’m writing this review we were not in the store after close, we just went in and got something granted at the end of the day but while the store is open no the less. The two men working there were extremely rude telling us to hurry up and we were wasting there time to Then being shouted at while they were slamming the outside product doors

Too much focus on home delivery. Isles jam packed with assistants concentrating on that - and all the ones I saw today seem to be on a jolly have a great chat and getting in the way of people who were trying to shop. Tesco management - (1) you need to rethink you strategy; (2) in store management you need to get a grip of your staff. You’re not paying them to stand around gossiping.

Well located with a large car park. You’ll find pretty much all you need just sometimes in a different location which can be a pain. Value for money quite acceptable but can always be better.

I shop here regularly with no issues but this morning (10/06) the young lady on checkout no.25 had a terrible attitude, came across quite moody. She was talking about something but was very unclear and confusing. Card machine wanted my pin but she kept moving the machine away muttering to herself, I asked what the problem was and she muttered some more. Eventually paid and left. Poor attitude from the checkout lady.

Not gonna come back again due to the security being overzelaous and creepily watching each time shopping there unlike any other shops like Sainsbury’s

Jet wash isn’t working since 1 year ago. Initially they said that the water drainage system does not work; although the drainage is working correctly when it comes to rainwater. Now they say they have another issue affecting the foam/washing machines. The idea is that after some people opened the hand wash in the Tesco parking area, the Jet Wash is not working anymore, so the customers should wash their cars only at hand car wash, more expensive and the quality of this service is not the best. Maybe someone from the management of Tesco will read this and take some action in solving the issue. Thanks,

Shop at this Tesco's on a weekly basis. Staff are great but the reason for a 1 star is that the trolley situation is the most terrible experience week in week out. There are hardly ever any large trolleys out the front of the store, if there are they are all damaged. You have to walk around the car park to locate one and again damaged trolleys all over the place so makes it extremely to get and return one. One star you ask ? - well if you can't get a trolley you can't shop ! - this morning I had to settle for a small trolley, got half the shop and had to stop off at Waitrose on the way home !!

Nice store, well stocked, lots of helpful staff, café is spacious and cosy.. and toilets are clean. Well done!

Today, (20th February 2023 2:00pm-3:00pm) I went to Tesco. I go to Tesco a lot for shopping and the clothes there are nice. I look at the clothing every time I go as I enjoy looking at there dresses. As I was walking around in the clothing section I saw there were 2 securities. I didn’t think anything of it but I realised they were following me around. They were examining my basket and were very suspicious of me thinking that I was stealing even though I clearly had done nothing but innocently was just looking at the clothing! They wouldn’t stop and I felt upset because I have been living in England for over 17 years and not once has this ever happened to me. They took a picture of a basket and continued to follow me around. They never look at the real problems and real thief’s but always look at the innocent ones that would never do anything. I don’t speak English very well or I would’ve confronted them. I want to complain about it because you can even check on the cameras I had done nothing to make them suspicious of me or anything. In the end after I was checking out with the nice cashier and I told her about the situation since I was very upset about it. She was extremely nice about it and helped me. I didn’t get her name but she was pregnant and she was a beautiful and nice lady and apologised about the securities behaviour. I am putting 2 stars for Tesco itself and not my experience with those securities as they were being foolish. 👎🏻

I would give 5 stars, but only one till was open when I visited two hours ago. It was 7 pm. We failed humanity if we are meant to do everything ourselves and replace everyone with machines. Or at least have enough people to reduce queues and give a 1-3% discount for the people that scan themselves. They increase your profits on their own time. If this happens again we go to three stars, and if it happens again to two stars and again to one star. Not every hype and tech is good. Make the experience seamless. Think about everyone. Not only about profits.

Great place. Wonderful atmosphere and great selection of things. Love the meal deal and if they ever take it away I will commit an act of violence. Love the cat that hangs out outside, I will forever be a fan of Tesco's Cat.

I received a £30 fine for staying too long in the TESCO car park, (1.40am instead of 1.30am). basically I was punished for being their customer for an extra 10 min.!! you should have more respect than your customers. I will return the club card and I will change the telephone company, I will no longer buy petrol from you and I will shop elsewhere

Why bother booking a delivery slot if they want to deliver when they chose to! Booked a week ago and no one called to tell me any change had happened! I rang twice to be told different things and that they will deliver 2 hours late when I have plans to be out! Avoid!

These have got to be the worst toilets in the whole of Reading, always dirty,leaking broken door locks, even doors hanging off the hinges, unbelievable how they get away with it

Dear tesco.. I saw black man dressed in black stealing meat. I tried to tell many staff members next to the near aisle one who couldn't speak English thought I said someone was beating me when I repeated to her do you understand what I said. I told another lady and she continued scanning her aisle. I gave up and walk up to the self checkouts and I see and hear an older Caucasian man tried telling older staff member pakistani or indian man of maybe 40s or 50s wearing glasses and said he said to the customer a man stealing packs of meat in his bag..the staff member seemed in a rush still walking away and responded to customer "he is there" pointing to the aelf checkouts, that staff then walked off. I see that man on the self checkouts who wasn't that man stealing meat!!. I even told the security guard. No questions were asked and it was if we were both speaking another language. You must train your staff when someone is telling you someone is stealing. You didn't care for your staff honesty and I see the man walking out. This incident happened in the meat section better 1230 t0 130. You check the cctv a older skinny black man dressed in black wearing a black cap with black backbag. He also stole cooking oil he had in a basket which he also stuffed in his backbag in the meat aisle.

Average Tesco badly laid out, I only go here when Lidl is closed. It's not cheap or good quality so I can't understand the appeal, ever.

Not bad, like the new PayQwiq and club card app which actually lets you use you coupons and vouchers in store on your phone as let's face it with finger print security which I have paying is now safer to use again with at least one level of security... They've also gone contactless with the club cards too if you have the physical version 👍👍 Not 24 hours any more like the Oxford road sign says

Use this shop on a weekly basis, due to the fact that I don't drive and that the bus stops just a short walk away. One time I was there, 2 days before Christmas, and I lost my purse, they allowed me to phone and cancel all my cards then gave me my shopping for free, which they didn't have to do. Then in the afternoon they rang me to tell me that they had found my purse, with everything still in it, they refused my offer of paying for my shopping from earlier so over the next few weeks I brought extra items and donated to their food trolley to the value of the shopping they gave me. That's the main reason for the 5 stars and I absolutely love the scan and shop, it allows me to know exactly what I am spending, which is useful in this current climate

Don't forget your clubcard or they will capitilise on your misfortune!

A good store to shop in. The customers toilets are absolutely disgusting when I asked for toilet paper got told that customer services was closed so I could use the disabled toilet and they then told me to get my boyfriend to get toilet paper out of the males.

Very funny staff, 2 little brats were fighting over some worthless food and the staff called them fatherless brats 💀💀💀 I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING 💀💀💀 Love Reading lol

This Tesco is massive, with a wide variety of food and home wear. However the clothing section is limited. I always shop in here and always can find what I need. As it is very well stocked. This Tesco's also has a Costa coffee outlet, and good customer toilets.

Decent, typical Tesco. It has all your groceries, medication etc... Overall pretty good.

Absolutely disgusted going in to the toilets 🤢 these haven't been cleaned in a very long time absolutely vile! This also includes the baby changing room that was vile too really needed to change my baby ended up changing him in the pushchair as didn't want to put him on the changing table as that needed a bleach to get rid of that dirt I did try giving it a clean with a baby wipe but didn't make a difference What happened the the cleaning rota to see when it was last cleaned!

At 9pm you can only go through self service which is a total nightmare if you have a baby with you!! Really felt like abandoning my trolley and just leaving.

It's a big Tesco. No surprises, good or bad. Free charging for electric cars. 4 points, type 2, 7kw. Started adding 26mph but dropped to 13mph. Still, a nice bonus.

I saw this sign and decided to shop after a late shift only to find out they no longer open at the times advertised. It really doesn't take much to turn off or cover up an open 24 hrs sign.

Quite vast and one stop place for all your groceries. Quite impressed by the variety of the bakery. Only thing I didn't find here what I was looking for is halal meat options. Prices are reasonable. The seem to stock good quality products. Billing is not an issue except for weekend. Even then you can find multiple self checkout options, you don't spend time waiting to be billed.

The amount of feathers left on your chickens is mind boggling. I just spent half an hour to get one to a remotely usable state. This is not the first time either.

I'm semi disabled and my mobility scooter broke down before Christmas!!, but I was highly delighted to find that Tesco Extra has 2 mobility scooters, in store, which are free to use for pensioners to shop in store. The staff are very friendly and helpful. You get cheaper products if you have a Tesco Clubcard and you can make some substantial savings if you shop savvy and be on the look-out for items with clubcard reductions and marked down items with a clubcard. Big store with great air quality due to its massive fan system delivering fresh clean air continuously which greatly decreases the chance to catch any nasty germs. Security Officers are extremely friendly and always willing to lend a hand should you need assistance, guidance or help of any nature. All in all a great place to shop and browse around in.

Went early (08:00) opening time on New Years Day and was waiting outside for the shutters to open, to be told by one member of staff that I was "SAD" to be shopping so early on New Years Day. Maybe, she doesn't work night shifts throughout the festive season? Normallly helpful staff and less judgemetal!

Some stuff need improvement like properly cleaning tills, shelves, fridges, freezers more often & mobility scooters after people use it. It'll be great if on self checkouts it's more help when gets busy, so your staff it's not overwhelm and alone and unpleasantly sweaty, most staff lovely, very helpful while others in group chatting in the isles pretending to do something.. 4/6 people by the bread lol, anyway I would like to say thank you to the one's who's helpful 👍

Very mid Tesco, staff are usually nice but there have been some issues, food offered is usually decent quality. Beware of the yellow sale offers, they are for clubcard users only. Many times I ended up paying 30-40% more than what was on the yellow tag as I did not read the small text. Big variety of multicultural foods.

Typically big Tesco, does have a lot of multi cultural items, if your just after a large selection of normalities you are better off going to the Nappier Road store, good pharmacy thou and also has an independent Timpson key shop

Good offers on top good savings when we get points returned to us in money coupons. A good loyalty scheme that attracts more customers and those who are here once to shop, they retain their loyalty. Reasonable and competitive rates for items across the store.

I have now visited this store 4 times and all 4 have been unpleasant experiences, however, today (31/5/21) was the icing on the cake. Extremely rude member of staff when I asked for help at self service, I waited for another member of staff who then walked right past me without an acknowledgment to another customer who had just entered the queue for help. I left my shopping and walked out the store and drove to Sainsbury's. I will not use this store again and doubtful if I will use Tesco again.

Went to the store around 5pm barely any staff to help with enquiries and only 3 tills open so it took quite a while to pay for my shopping 😔

BEWARE when shopping, especially if purchasing items which have yellow highlighted special offers. This is because having just visited this shop as I was passing and having purchased a special offer priced item, at the checkout I was charged over 13% more than I expected to pay, due to the fact that the highlighted yellow prices are CLUBCARD OFFERS ONLY. If you should visit a Tesco shop without having a CLUBCARD, you will pay the higher rate (which can be up to 40% more than you expect). I would therefore recommend that you check your receipt very carefully and put back any items that you may be being charged at a higher rate than you are expecting. I presume that this is due to "marketing" and Tesco wishing to follow and have details of exactly what you shop for and buy, so only get a CLUBCARD if this is what you want. Overall, very disgruntled with this marketing ploy. FYI, having wasted 15 minutes in the shop to collect the goods, wait for someone to come and check the price once I queried it, I finally decided to pay the higher price as I had wasted enough time and didn't want to have to travel to another shop to buy the same goods (which I knew were on price for a slightly cheaper price anyway). Needless to say, I won't be going back.

I went shopping at 7am on the 23rd Dec and was anticipating low stock given how early it was. However, I was massively impressed by Tesco management which loads of staff around stocking up, loads of fresh fruits and vegetables & fresh bread from the bakery ready. Well done to all of the staff working ahead and during the Xmas period. And Thank you!

I was here yesterday for my weekly grocery shop and I could see some people let through without wearing any mask. This is NOT acceptable during a pandemic period (Tier 4!!). The security should STOP anyone who does not wear any mask as this can save lives! So please TAKE ACTION as reckless behaviours should not be tolerated in such a crowded place like a Tesco Extra!!

Massive waits at the tills, not enough open and staff standing around not doing much!

Very busy today,even though it is lockdown.Pleasant staff as always.Willing & ready to help.Prices have jumped quite a bit since last week.i.e.( Xmas cakes etc.)

Possibly the rudest staff of any shop I've ever been in. Short of spitting on customers, it's hard to think how they could be worse. And staff are currently wearing their masks under their chins.
