Visited tesco this morning with my granddaughter. Unfortunately, she had a seizure and classed( she is ok) I would like to say a HUGE THANKYOU TO THE STAFF They closed the aisle to protect her dignity, and nothing was too much. Sorry, I never got their names, I can't thank you enough, and Jj loved the chocolate buttons xx

It's probably my favourite Tesco store and I shop here quite regularly but the quality of service from the staff is really slipping, if you go of an evening it's basically just a social club for the staff and their friends to stand around gabbing while doing no work and ignoring customers.

Visited there tonight to pick a few items . Got to the water aisle, where one of the staff was stocking up the shelves with their own brand of 2ltr bottles of water . Was told they had no 6 Packs of 2ltr Tesco water. But the guy was cutting open the 6 packs from the warehouse trolley to put the single bottles on the shelf. Single bottles 60p each ,compared to 1.30 for the 6 pack . And was told they was out of stock of 6 packs, although their was alot of them on the warehouse trolley. That's pretty low for even Tesco. Well done Tesco. I see you in a different light now. I've literally spent 1000s there over the years.

This used to be a really good cafe, somewhere pleasant to sit down and relax after shopping in the store. Unfortunately now though, it's pretty awful, largely due to the totally apathetic manager Mary, who's also been mentioned in another review. My latest visit I was served by her, and in a robot-like fashion she asked what I wanted, head down, no eye contact. I ordered a sausage toastie but wasn't asked if I'd like white or brown bread, or if I wanted anything else with it. She then asked, without moving her lips, if I'd like a drink. She returned my bank card, held out a table number, but nothing else was said to me. No interaction at all. There was no 'put this number on your table and someone will bring you your order', or 'enjoy your food', there wasn't even a 'thank you.' Unsmiling glum face, negative body language and demeanour, she looks like she's at a funeral. This is one Mary who isn't spreading any Christmas joy. Go in and see for yourself. And this wasn't just a 'one-off', it's all the time. As the manager, shouldn't she should be leading by example? She then delegated tasks to the two younger waitresses who seem to keep the place running, filling the fridge, cleaning the tables etc, while she stood behind the counter on her mobile phone. I've observed her doing this before, and once she even walked over to the fridge opposite, removed a sandwich, and then proceeded to eat it whilst leaning on the counter on her elbows! She always has a vacant, distant look on her face, and comes across as totally 'couldn't care less'. Food orders are often served to the wrong tables, it happened to myself once, and apart from a couple of the waitresses who work quite hard, the staff are clueless. Avoid at all costs, unless it's raining outside.

I picked up some wine on the end of the isle which was on offer if I used my club card. I got to the self service and put it through, scanned my club card. No discount. I asked the young gentleman who called through the headphones to check. He came back and said it was for a different wine and did I want that one. I declined politely and asked if I go back and check would that wine no longer be on the offer stand at the end of the isle. He laughed and blushed. I asked for a refund.

The disabled access to toilets here is terrible. I visited with a disabled person and the Tesco is huge. As we entered the Tesco we had to walk to the opposite end of the store to go the toilets only to find the disabled toilet was locked. We asked staff and were told we had to get the key from customer service which was back by the entrance. So we had to walk the length of the Tesco again to get the key & back again to the toilet. The key had a security tag on so when we entered the arch of the toilet the alarms went off loud. After using the toilet I did not lock the door with the key as I knew the person I was with would require the toilet again, we then walked to the opposite end of Tesco again to return key. Later on when we went to use the toilet a woman in her 80s on a Zimmer frame with very poor mobility came out the disabled toilet, I was so glad I'd left it unlocked as she would of had to have done 3 lengths of the Tesco to gain and return the toilet key if it had been locked. I don't think it's reasonable or fair to expect a disabled person who may have mobility problems to walk the length of the Tesco & back again to gain access to a toilet, not everyone can hold on for that long when they need to go. Also when we used the key and alarm went off everyone was looking at us. I think the person who has decided on this system has not put themselves in the shoes of a disabled person & thought about their dignity, there must be a better way of giving people access to the toilet.

I eat here a lot, almost exclusively breakfast. The food is pre-prepared, like they run out of poached egg, but you can have a fried egg instead?? Lots of places are like this these days, sadly. The ladies here though make up for it. They are a variety of ages and personalities, but all are cheerful, kindly and give very good service within the restrictions often placed on them. Well worth a visit as long as you don’t add to the standard menu, if you do, one egg or one slice of bacon is £1:00 each, which does nothing for the Tesco Brand.

Went to do my weekly shop on Saturday and didn't have a £1 or a disc for trolley. Went to customer services (after asking 'security') to see if someone could get me a trolley. I was told I had to buy something with my card and she'd give me a £1 cashback for the trolley!!! I couldn't believe it. I refused to buy something I didn't want just so I could have a trolley in order to shop in Tesco and went to walk out and do my shopping in Asda. A kind member of the public and her daughter ran after me and gave me a £1 which I was grateful for. I went to then get a trolley only to find 1 on its own so I found the lady and gave her the £1 back. The lady restored my faith in human nature as she saved me wasting time going elsewhere. It was late afternoon afterall. I am disappointed at Tesco if this is your policy...you'd rather lose custom than give them a trolley to put the shopping in from YOUR store?? This is the worst Tesco in the country. Every day lunchtime seems to take them by suprised, out of the 32 tills available they manage to run 4 leaving the lunch time workers looking for a quick bite to eat stranded in the shop queing. You may think that the 2 self service stations would be open to allow people to flow through but know the genius of the shop floor manager has shut 1 down so the ques spill onto the shop floor once again. I visited the the cigarette counter to by my cheese and onion toastie ingredients to be told they can't weigh my onion. Stick it up your bum Tesco. My twin brother and I were having a meet up with friends in Kirkby Town Centre, we drifted from The Market Tavern to The Brambles Pub were we continued our day out socialising. A good pub, interior is nice ,a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings, pool table, big screens to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its just a proper little locals pub. We enjoyed pints of guinness in here and lagers plus some vodka and cokes ,atmosphere was good ,staff on top form and all in all a really good visit, spent a good few hours here . We really enjoyed our visit here before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. The Brambles Pub is easy to locate along Cherryfield Drive in Kirkby Town Centre. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from midday. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.
