TERRACE hayle in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I recently visited The Terrace in Hayle, and it was a truly memorable experience! We sat in their conservatory, surrounded by fairy lights and candles, which created such a warm and magical ambiance—perfect for a relaxed, chilled night. The atmosphere was cozy yet had an enchanting vibe that made the evening feel special. The staff were exceptional; attentive without being intrusive and genuinely welcoming. As for the food, it was excellent—every dish was beautifully presented and flavorful. The only minor note was that some dishes had a bit more garlic than we expected, but that may just come down to personal taste. Overall, The Terrace is a gem in Hayle and a perfect spot for a delightful evening with friends or family. Highly recommended!

This is a restaurant really not give time for the customer to enjoy the food. They different waitress come up to tidy the dish even you haven't finished the food. I will not come back . What a shame.

Me and my beautiful girlfriend came herr just to see if they had space for 2 people, and they informed us kindly that they would have in a couple of minutes. Rather than us waiting outside somewhere else, they politely said we could sit outside with the heater on whilst our table got prepared. This initial welcome was friendly, warm and very welcoming. From start to finish, our food was absolutely outstanding. The starting platter is simple but delicious, with the meat being fresh and wonderfully prepared. My main, the Bolognese Calzone, was easily one of the best meals I have ever had in the country. My partner’s pizza was brilliant. The dessert, the waffle with cookie ice cream, was gorgeous. Presentation across the board for every one of the meals was utterly outstanding. We left seriously impressed. One of the best restaurants in Cornwall and the all female staff are fabulous and totally lovely to talk to. Could not recommend more.

We visited this place in June this year with family and really enjoyed the food and the service. We visited Hayle again thus week and decided to go back and once again we were blown away by the food and the service. Lovely friendly staff and the food was perfect. Hubby had the steak with blue cheese sauce. Melt in the mouth steak creammy cheesy sauce and beautifully cooked veg . I had the bolognese calzone so flavourful . No room for desserts unfortunately as we had demolished a serving of their signature spicy chill and mango chicken wings. Amazing food and brilliant service.... my only complaint is I live over 400 miles away so can't go as often as I would like to !!

Well what can I say, a gem of a place me and my wife came in tonight for my wife's birthday. The staff where great even the customer's food was great desserts where great, a special thank you to the lovely Blond lady behind the bar she put a banner and balloons for my wife and she was so nice. We defo tell our friends and family I have been a chef for over 40 years nice to see fresh ingredients. THANK YOU..

We visited this restaurant tonight on the last night of our holiday for my father in laws birthday and I can honestly say I have never been to a better restaurant than this. The staff were absolutely amazing and the food was perfection on a plate. We will definitely be back here on our next visit to Cornwall without a doubt

Called in with no reservation. Managed to squeeze 5 of us in. No complaints at all, food was exceptional, couple of specials had sold out by this point which didn't affect us. Good service, lovely staff, great food, would go again if we are in the area

Food good, but waited 20 minutes for a drink and main meal didn’t arrive for just short of an hour, offered a dessert menu but never came, no offer of second drink, staff friendly but service too slow, wouldn’t go again.

Stopped in to get takeaway pizzas after walking the dogs. I looked at the old menu that came up on my phone by mistake, hubby wanted the Mexican, I went in to order but they didn't do it anymore but the waitress said she would go and ask and low and behold the answer was yes, chef would do it. Was going off round the corner to eat it in the car park facing the estuary so bought some appletisers as well and the lady behind the counter was so accommodating giving me napkins etc. Pizzas were delicious, service was excellent, cannot fault them. As we are localish (Redruth) but spend a lot of time around Hayle walking the dogs we will definitely be going back. Thank so much. x

Finally made it to this family restaurant after a few years of visiting the area, wish we'd come before, fab food, service, drinks on the terrace before dinner and caught the sunset afterwards highly recommended, had grilled Hake from the specials board, Ribeye Blue cheese steak pizza and Calzone filled with Bolognese which was so rich and tasty.

Super lovely and delicious meal at The Terrace. A fun range of pizzas & delicious small plates. Highly recommend sitting out the back on a warm summers days. Had the loveliest, most polite and attentive waitress (don’t know her name but she lived in Portugal for 13 years). Look forward to returning!

1st of June my sister's wedding meal was held here in the Terrace, the first sight of the narrow green painted front was so pleasing , in entering, I was so impressed, what looked like a small dining room with a small bar, actually lead on to a longer area of covered courtyard and then on again to a deck overlooking the river and beautiful scenery beyond. The food was delicious, a menu designed by the wedding party, Mediterranean, fresh, delicious, beautifully presented by attentive staff. I highly recommend The Terrace for delicious food and ambiance.

This restaurant was AMAZING! We were so happy that we chose this place. The front of house friendly lady managed to fit us in on the spot. The Carbonarra was cooked to perfection which our 8 year old daughter and 6 year old son loved and they finished the lot! As was the lasagne and the pizza! If this restaurant was open on the Sunday we would have returned that next day! We can highly rate this beautiful place! 5* food clearly cooked with love! Had the best Carbonara I've ever had! The staff are absolutely lovely too. Great relaxed atmosphere, well priced food. I would definitely come back again.

We had a comfortable stay at The Treganna St Ives, a short and beautiful woodland walk from the madding crowds and cars. We dined at the Porthminster Beach Cafe, expensive but worth it and reminiscent of how Rick Stein used to be before it went corporate. However, the place that should absolutely be at the top of your dining list is The Italian Kitchen (The Terrace) in nearby Hayle. Previous reviews accurately describe it as a hidden gem and it does not disappoint. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming with a great background music soundtrack and the food is delicious, especially the Fish Pie and for dessert, the scrumptious waffles. There is something on the food and drink menu for everyone and it’s excellent value. Best of all, we loved the service team, most especially the remarkable Hannah who radiates positivity. Hannah was also an absolute star in clearing up the mess when a full glass of red accidentally tipped over. She has great empathy and style and put us at ease with her own stories about red wine on manoeuvres. Unreservedly recommended, it was the highlight of our stay and only wish the restaurant and the team could be transported to London.

Lovely food. I had the Newlyn fish pie and my wife had the carbonara. Very nice first course followed by a fantastic desert of eton mess on a warm waffle. OMG! The lovely young staff looked after us really well.

Had a beautiful family meal here whilst visiting the area. The staff are attentive and friendly and the food really is amazing - unusually with traditional Italian food, but also with some really nice specials. Had a great time and would recommend it very highly.

Good food in an authentic continental atmosphere.

We booked a table on the same day however the person who took our booking didn’t write it down. The staff dealt with this very quickly and politely and we were seated immediately anyways. This food was absolutely delicious, the carbonara specifically was our highlight! If you come here do try it! The service was pretty fast too, would happily come here again!

Lovely local Italian restaurant serving well crafted dishes and tasty pizzas. Great range of choices plus daily specials, reasonably priced wines and local beers. We hadn't booked but that was not a problem in late November. Service was friendly and efficient, The menu listing sounded excellent and the actual flavours did not dissapoint. We even opted for dessert as they sounded so good. Again well worth trying as they were delicious. The mackerel special for a starter was excellent, as we're the spicy chicken wings. Parmigiano for me and bolognase calzone pizza for my husband were both tasty and satisfying. Topped off with chocolate orange torte or the chocolate caramel tart, what's not to love.

Took some friends here for an evening meal and they haven't stop talking about it. They thoroughly enjoyed it and had a fabulous meal as did we. 2 hours absolutely flew by with good wine and good food. Would definitely recommend it.

Find the place at last minute, called, booked a table for 4 withing 30 min. When got there, lovely, caring waitress took care of us, always checking if we need anything with a lovely smile on her face. Starters just flew from the kitchen, the most delicious mains were served within half ah hour from arrival. Luxurious food, sympathetic customer service, fresh food-what else would you ask for having nice dinner? Terrace Hayle-we will be back, and we will talk about you for very long time. Thank you

Ordered 3 Ragu Bolognaise and 1 pork meal and 2 portion of chips bought the pork and chips still waiting for our meal we eat the chips bought ours out 10 mins later and it was lukewarm sent all 3 meals back they just warned them up in microwave as the garlic bread was the same as I ate half then we ordered deserts again bought out the orange tort we waited for the creme brûlée 10 mins went by then the waitress said sorry you cannot have the brûlée as blow torch not working really disappointed then when I paid the managerss put at bottom of bill sorry no discount or even offered a free drink for us will not be going there again and will tell family and friends not to go as we had a bad experience

Fantastic food, friendly service

Phoned up to confirm they were still serving food, was told a time, drove down paid for parking and got to the restaurant 10 minutes early, to be told they're no longer serving food. Fantastic place! 🤣

We ate a variety of dishes out on the Terrace. Everything that we ordered was really nice, as good as anything in Italy and we have been there quite a few times. Sitting on the terrace is pleasant, undercover and sheltered. Service was good and pricing was reasonable too.

Poor management, mediocre taste! We wanted to order takeaway, but a lady (probably the manager) said they don’t do takeaway. We showed their pavement sign which clearly says two pizza £24 takeaway only. The lady then said okay, we can order pizza but nothing else from the menu. Then she changed her mind and said we can also order salads and fries but no other starter. We wanted to order two other starters but since she didn’t allow us to do so, we only ordered pizzas, salad and fries. We paid and waited. After 20 minutes, this lady came to us and said, they have mistakenly prepared the two starters, and we also have to pay for them. No problem, we wanted to order them so we paid. But, if you can do it, why don’t you do it in the first place. Anyway, after having orders, we returned home. Then surprise! One of the the starters was missing. We rang them, they said we can come and collect the missing starter. We went back. After waiting a couple of minutes, the order was finally completed. Other employees were kind and helpful; but congrats to the lady, she single-handedly ruined the whole experience. By the way, the food was mediocre at best.

Although we were served and seated, we were only allowed to order Pizza. The kids' pizzas were burnt and the drinks quite pricey. Service was attentive despite some mistakes in the final bill.

We regularly recommend this great little restaurant to our customers. When our own pub is closed this is where we take our family to eat. Decent food, nice wine, and friendly service. It's not a fast food joint - meals are cooked fresh to order (as they should be), so naturally there will be a short wait for your food, but its never unreasonable.

Mushroom and stilton linguine was delicious. There is no river view from the covered Terrace. I chose to sit on the wooden Terrace with the river view watching the sunset.

Went a few weeks ago for my grandsons birthday, good food, excellent service, very popular restaurant.

I must say this is the worst and most expensive pizza I’ve ever eaten. It’s clearly frozen, and it costs more than really good pizza places in the centre of London. The Service was kind, however it has been really slow, we've waited almost one hour for a probably microwave defrosted pizza. I would not recommend this place if you're searching for a decent pizza.

Popped in here on the off chance that they had a table and besides it being busy, they managed to squeeze us in(family of 4). Good meal and friendly service and amazing sunsets over the copperpool (weather permitting).

Booked a table for me and my wife as we were looking for a place to eat dinner with a parking nearby. Everything was perfect. The staff were really friendly. Their food taste amazing. Waiting time for the mains to be served were not that long. I even asked for my burger to have no buns :). Definitely would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice dinner.

I recently dined at Terrace Restaurant in Hayle and while I enjoyed the food, the overall experience was just okay. The outdoor seating area was nice, but the indoor area was a bit cramped and felt stuffy. Plus, we were given a time allotment to eat our food and due to their delays in preparing the meal we were implicitly told we might not have time to actually eat our meal in peace. The service was adequate, but not exceptional. The food was decent, but nothing really stood out as exceptional for the price point. Additionally, some of the portions were small and left me feeling unsatisfied. While I wouldn't necessarily discourage others from giving Terrace Restaurant a try, I also wouldn't highly recommend it given my own average experience. Three stars.

We got take out from here last year when we visited and loved it so much, came back again this year. The pizza is just delicious - lovely crispy base and so tasty. They do great gluten free options too so wife was happy. Really recommend. Might eat in next time to get the full dining experience!

Me and my bf returned to The Terrace last night being ten months since we had our first dinner date there. The food was amazing, particularly the Tabasco wings were to die for and the bolognaise calzone was the best I’ve had. A huge shout out to the girls serving, they were all so lovely and you could see how attentive they were to everyone in the restaurant. This place is definitely going to be a regular one for us :)

Lovely place with great food. Staff are friendly and also dog friendly too. Fairly priced for the quality of food. We had 3 courses and 2 bottles of wine. Four adults and a child just over £200. The front part of the restaurant can be a little noisy, but out back is better. Restaurant backs on to the estuary too. Love this little gem.

Very welcoming excellent service attentive and the menu is good, specials board is worth looking at. Worked out to be £ 22: 00 a head which was good value. The staff put a thank you with a smile on the back of your recipe. Well worth a vist.

I love this restaurant! Such a cute and cozy vibe. Although not my first visit, we most recently visited on 23rd Feb 2023 and the staff were AMAZING! So polite and friendly, it really added to the lovely atmosphere and the food that is always excellent.

We came to The Terrace on 23.02.2023 and we had the best evening. All staff members were polite, welcoming and accommodating and added to the evening. We had a fantastic evening, the food was lovely, and staff were brilliant!!

Was feeling hungry in the mood for pizza so was looking online and saw this place called in staff seems very friendly on Phone which was nice as I have phone anxiety got told my food was 5-10 minutes which very reasonable got there and waited a minute and a half which didn’t bother me about time I got my pizza it was hot and definitely cooked. 100% recommend even if it’s a takeaway very nice pizza definitely enjoyed

I was the Celebrant for a wedding blessing ceremony last Saturday at The Terrace Restaurant in Hayle, and it's a Brilliant Venue!! Beautiful estuary location, relaxed atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble, a bar, a versatile restaurant set up, lovely food and really ... it was just perfect!
