Teppenyaki in Manchester

We went around 5.30pm midweek as a family of four, the chef seemed rushed and almost like he didn’t want to be there both me and my husband walked away feeling like he had been mocking us and worst our kids. Food wasn’t great especially given the price - £120 for 2 adult and 2 kids (under 8) mains, 2 apple juices, a glass of wine and a G&T. The food was so salty we were all guzzling water for hours afterwards. Didn’t stay for pudding so can’t comment on that

The food was great the chefs were also amazing, Juande was attending to us tonight and he was great, always quick to check in on us and provide us with whatever we needed

Our chef, Ben, was great fun and included our 4 year old effortlessly. Service also very good. Being our first time, Callum talked us through how everything worked and was courteous throughout. Not a cheap lunch but the portions are massive and makes for a nice treat for the whole family

Good spectacle & performance of the chefs, and efficient service too. But the food was distinctly average. Don't expect anything tasty, or particularly Japanese. So a nice piece of theatre, but would not eat here again.

I went with my mum, husband and my 2 years old son and we had a great time. The entertainment by the chef was great and the service was excellent. Juande was really kind and friendly, he managed to keep my little one happy and entertained with the crayons, thanks a lot Juande. We would definitely go back and all the family enjoyed

We went to celebrate my birthday. The kids came along 13 and 14 years old. They were thoroughly entertained from the minute we walked in. The staff were amazing. Our waiter Juande was so attentive and met all our needs. The food was fantastic, cooked in front of you, fresh ingredients, quality and quantity.

The food was amazing (as usual), the dining experience is so unique and fun to watch along, we loved the atmosphere, the waiter Charlene was so accommodating, helpful and we had excellent service during our visit!

Didn’t know what to expect as we went after a business meeting and I’d never been before. It was a brilliant night - entertainment from the chef and absolutely beautiful food cooked in front of you. Will definitely go back and highly recommended

The food tasted good, I liked the egg fried rice, however I’d say the chicken & sauces were a bit too salty. I went on a Monday evening around 8pm and it was pretty empty. There were only about 2/3 table sections being used. Personally I didn’t like how quiet and empty the place felt, it didn’t add to lively vibes of Teppanyaki. I went there solo, I thought it’d be okay because I expected a round table lively vibe around the cooker, but yh it was rather quiet and empty, felt awkward to be there alone. It was my birthday hence why I went on a Monday but I guess I’d rather go there on a weekend next time. The food proportion was good and the cocktail was good. The chef did try and bring the good vibes and fun, so that was nice.

First thing having Japanese and we had a ball!! Experience is great fun and highly recommend. We had the samurai and it is a lot of food, I couldn’t finish it all!! We were seated with a stag party and another couple but we all had a good time together! Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing service! I can't thank the bar staff and management enough! Sadly spilled some coffee liquor on my friends jumper.... Staff went above and beyond to help me! Left it with the manager on duty- Andy! He returned it clean and spotless and saved me a massive dry cleaning bill! I will be returning! The food and showman ship was awesome and certainly an experience I'd recommend. However I can't express how grateful I am for the instant help and service provided by Andy, and the staff. A big thank you also to the barstaff, the tequila coffee liqueur might have caused trouble but it was worth it! Thank you Andy and staff, I hope to return soon! Keep doing what you're doing, as an ex bar manager/staff I can't express how much it means to experience and be looked after from the other side of the bar! Welcomed in from the pouring Manchester rain with a big smile and a warm greeting, the fun experience was set right from the start with our coats being take to dry and heat! Juande was our waiter and incredible throughout, helping us choose, knowledgeable of the menu and recommendations from his own experiences. Abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante operante avevamo voglia di sushi. Schiavo ordinario dei gyoza (buoni) del pollo fritto e un sushi solo salmone (da 29£).I primi due piatti erano buoni e gustosi, il salmone, invece, puzzava di pesce (dovrebbe essere inodore) e non era chiaramente fresco.Abbiamo lasciato più della metà del piatto e quando lo abbiamo fatto notare in cassa hanno semplicemente presso atto della cosa. Non ci tornerò e lo sconsiglio.

This is definitely not the place for a quiet meal in a small party. We were seated together with lots of other people in a noisy group. Waited a long time to get our drinks and never even got to order any food. There was lots of other groups of young people which were clearly having a good time and basically getting drunk. We left to find another restaurant as this one was not what we were looking for.

If you've never had tepanyaki before i highly recommend coming here. The staff were friendly and food was so good! And if you're going for dessert try the green tea ice cream!

Really enjoyed the evening at Sapporo with my wife for a midweek date night. We sat at the live cook station and had lots of fun watching the chefs do their thing. The food was excellent. We both opted for the Emperor menu which is one of the more expensive options but well worth the money. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection, the chicken was delicious and the seafood sublime. I’m not a fan of lobster but according to my wife... it was wonderful. We were both shockingly full after the meal. Would definitely visit again.

I had been wanting to go for so so long but I wasn’t massively impressed. The atmosphere was really good and we loved how they get you all involved it made it very fun, but the food was far too over priced for it to be below average, the starters were tiny and everyone’s mains were full of far too much salt. We could not finish any of our meals with the amount of salt put in, even if this is so we buy my drinks all you could drink was water because of how horrible you felt after it

Menu is quite expensive, as are drinks. However, 3 out of 4 of our party went for the Samurai banquet, which offers good value for a lot of food, and you get to try a nice selection of meat/fish.I did find that some of the items cooked on the grill were a little over seasoned with salt (especially the king prawns) which was a shame. Steak were well seasoned though and cooked to perfection. The fried veggies that come with the grilled mains were also VERY buttery - tasty but felt a little greasy.The portions of sushi/starters that you get on the banquet are tiny, really just tasters of each, but this is probably for the better, as there is so much food overall - we were stuffed by the end!The restaurant was rather busy when we attended, and it was a little cramped with other parties sat around the grill. I like the communal dining atmosphere, but would have preferred a little more space. The busyness and heat/grease from the grills did have me feeling a bit flustered (though they have mega extractor fans at work). Nice chilled wine helped to alleviate this though!Service was friendly - they were kind enough to offer the 4th from our party who had not ordered a banquet a free dessert. However the waiting on staff did seem to be a bit overstretched - we waited ages for our initial drinks and then had to grab the attention of the waitress when we wanted more, as during the busiest period they did not come back to check on us.The showmanship of the grill chefs is spectacular - the flames, the tricks and displays of their expertise! This is what really makes it for us, and is the reason that (despite some slight niggles during during our meal) we would certainly recommend and return again!

Went with my partner for my 30th birthday, looking for a different experience. We absolutely loved the atmosphere, the food, the sake. Even if you feel shy about sharing a table with others, like me (note there are smaller tables as well), the shared experience is a real icebreaker. All the food was perfect, ranging from seafood, to steak, to the pudding rolls at the end. I even got a musical suprise for my birthday! Definitely recommended.

the kids had a great time as everything is very visual, but for me everything tasted the same, just salt and alot of pepper on everything, I thought they would have put different sauces and seasoning with the different dishes, but it all came tasting the same, the soup was lawful and the rips had a funny tang to them, but overall i think teppanyaki is something that everyone should knock off there bucket list, but sapporo was very underwhelming

I am a regular guest of that restaurant because of the tasty food, nice atmosphere and logical prices. However, my last visit was disappointing. The cook/performer was bored and did not do anything special (he did not even speak to us). He forgot to cook the vegetables for tepanayaki and he served them to us at the end. In addition, he put wrong sauces on our ducks and he pretended not to understand the mistake. At the end he started cleaning in order to force us to leave. It was a very disappointing experience for my graduation dinner. I hope it does not happen again because it was one of my favourite restaurants and i recommended it to many friends. I will give it a last chance in a few weeks time.

This place is as much about the entertainment provided by the chefs who cook in front of each table as it is about the food. It had a very lively atmosphere the night we went there. Some of the food (such as the fresh asparagus) was excellent, most of it was good but the miso soup was tasteless and the tuna in the sashimi had been frozen. Quantities were large, prices reasonable and the service good.

Where else can you eat with the Chefs providing the floorshow? Good food, lots of atmosphere and plenty of fun into the bargain. The menu is extensive with something for everyone. Be aware that you are seated around the cooking area, so you don't have your own table in the traditional sense. If unsure look at the video on their website.

7 of us in for dinner on a quiet January evening . Welcome was luke warm.

Went here with party of 12. We had to wait 15 minutes even though no one was sitting in the sushi area. As we waited we got drinks at the bar. The bartender mixed a couple of fantastic drinks for our party and we eventually sat down. Or order was taken promptly and the sushi came out shortly after in decent intervals to allow us to eat what was brought out in a timely fashion. The sushi was above average and the only complaint I would have is that they don't put soy sauce on the table. Would definitely go back!

Booked for a New Years Eve dinner. As there were just two of us we shared our table with a few large groups but it didn’t bother us and still felt private enough. The menu was really varied and the available set menus great, especially as my girlfriend asked to swap the beef on her menu for fish and this was done without any problems. Really fun watching the chefs cook and they get you involved (by catching potatoes in your mouth..!). With the set menus we had more than enough food. Desserts were a little disappointing but by that point we were so full it didn’t really bother us. A really fun evening as well as a delicious dinner - well worth a visit.

Tried the Emperor Set which had a bit of everything. The sushi was very good and the ribs were tender and flavoursome. The teppanyaki itself was delightfully entertaining with the chef performing all sorts of tricks and jokes, having everyone around the table laughing. The food from the teppan was cooked well, with generous portions of potato, rice and stir fry veg.

This restaurant is all about the show. Attended early on a Saturday before Christmas , you are sat around the cooking area with other families. Not forced or encouraged to have the Christmas menu.

I’ve visited this place a couple of times before and was excited to take my family there but the service from the point of entering the restaurant was poor. No drinks offered, hanging around for any attention once we’d sat at our table, waitress clearly didn’t want to be there and had a face on the whole time (when she wasn’t shouting at colleagues in front of customers), dessert order taken whilst table full of dirty plates which we ended up siding for ourselves. Food from the kitchen was cold. Just a shoddy night. Surprised they still have any customers!

I heard that this restaurant was good so I decided to book a table for 13 people for my sons 21st Birthday. We are Hi-life diners card members which entitles us to 20% of the entire bill 7 days a week. This was confirmed by their staff when I booked.

Not great but pretty average to be quite frank. Open plan large and light dining area and a bit cold. They paid the lecky bill?? Food ok but not enough for me. Servings a bit small. Would go back in a hurry.

we booked for 6 people,went to the bar, great servers, bar staff, drinks they made excellent, went to the table, with our party, and met others, going to the Derrby match, Blues and Reds, I feel a lot of the time, you can meet nice people and all of them were,couple from UK, couple from cyprus, couple from moncaco, etc, good company, we ordered drinks,, 4 were correct two incorrect, so asked of them to be taken and new one,s anyway same wrong drinks came again,. In the meantime Potatoes came, as we were a bit delayed sitting, so starving, told them about the incorrect drinks, but they never replaced them?? anyway there food was a bit slow, so one of the Party did one, saying why was it so slow,2 mins later the food did come,Why it was so slow, I,m not sure, Anyway the food was excellent, and to be fair, they knocked off incorrect drinks, and the meal , for the departed> So go prepared to wait some,Overall great place, maybe a fine tune, but really enjoyed the night, apart from the delay, plus they forgot to take off the deposit, and I was going to call them, but they rang me, and refunded,it straight away, not only great ,but honest too, Yes Def recommend.

Came in November 2017 for a birthday meal with my family. Food and chef perfomance was ok but nothing special, but the management and customer service was shockingly rude and bad!

My first visit to Sapporo Teppanyaki was with two family members who had both been on serval occasions before and highly recommended dining here. We dined quite early on in the evening as we had plans to attend a concert at the MEN and whilst we were the only customers currently eating (a few customers were having drinks in the bar area) the service we received was no less attentive, than had there been a room full of people and things in full swing! If I'm quite honest I believe we received better attention and quick service because we had the chef and table to ourselves.

Visited as a large family party and didn't have to wait long to be seated - drinks were reasonably priced with a good selection on offer. Had the set Xmas twos yaks menu which was well cooked and really tasty. The only thing really lacking was some enthusiasm from the chefs - having visited other tepanyaki restaurants which get you more involved all we had here was catching a tossed up potato in your mouth. The chef hardly cracked a smile and had little or no interaction with his guests - maybe it was just our chef but we left feeling a little disappointed in the experience - but on a positive the food was enjoyable. Maybe worth another try to see if it was a one off.

Came here with friends and we were not disappointed made to feel very welcome. We took our seats and the show began. The show cooking was very impressive and great fun snd entertaining. The food was truly amazing and fresh. We will be back.

Went here with a friend a few weeks ago. Requested a teppanyaki table but was told they were fully booked which was clearly not true since half the tables were empty and many of those with people on were also half empty. Instead we were seated in the back of the restaurant which was disappointing as we went there for the teppanyaki display. We ordered drinks, starters and mains anyway as we were really hungry. I was brought the wrong main course, and after telling the waiter that it wasnt what I ordered (asked for salmon, was brought beef), he returned to the kitchen with it, but did not apologise or anything... about thirty minutes later, still no one had apologised or even said if, or when I would be getting my meal. In the meantime, my friend’s food was going cold. Finally another waitress came over and said my food would be over soon and by the time it came, my friend had already finished his food (after about 15 minutes, I told him to start eating before his food was completely cold) so just had to sit there and watch me eat and wait for me to finish. My food was nice, but I received no explanation for the mistake and delay, no real apology or anything. I expected that the restaurant would go out of their way to apologise, perhaps offer a free drink or discount or something for the poor experience, but it was made worse by the fact they barely aknowledged it. Worst service I’ve experienced, would not reccommend.

Me and my boyfriend visit Sapporo regularly, it’s not just a dining experience you have a chef cooking in front of you and having everyone involved with tricks and fire etc..!

We wanted an early evening meal. The restaurant was almost empty. We stood at the entrance waiting for someone to make eye contact or come over to greet us but the waiting staff were having a chat nearby and ignored us. So we left.

booked for 12 people on saturday night for a special birthday. great combination of good food with very entertaining presentation and excellent service. busy restaurant with lively atmosphere. also nice bar area where we enjoyed a pre and post meal drink. would recommend for a treat.

We’ve booked a table for 8:00 PM on Tuesday. We get there just before time and they send us to the bar to wait for a table. We admitted few times we are interested in sushi, but they still gave us coaster pager to let us know when the table will be ready. So we’ve ordered drinks and sat there for more than 20 minutes. We asked again why we have to wait for a table when on “Sushi side” of the restaurant was several dozen of free tables and only one taken. So they took a pager and asked us to pick a table. We received the menu cards and we were waiting more than 20 minutes before my partner asked a barman for help. Unfortunately that not helped, and we sat there for another 15, then he went and asked host for helped, but that not changed anything. We sat there for another 10 minutes waiting for anyone to collect our order. When we decided to go home, a waitress finally came. We get our meals at 9:38 PM... It was tasty, but still I strongly NOT recommend anyone to go there for a sushi. Not worth your time and money.

Altogether an amazing experience. We didn't book a table, but it wasn't a problem for the Lady who greeted us when we walked in. She quickly organized some chairs and tables and 2 minutes later we got a table the middle of a busy Saturday night! 5 star customer service thank you so much!!! The cocktails were tasty, and the food was delicious and well presented. We tried the 18 piece mixed sushi and miso soups.
