A great afternoon tea with great food and even better service we would fully recommend this place for good afternoon tea and what a amazing room as well,

La experiencia en general fue bastante cómoda y agradable. Nos sirvieron bien y recibimos recomendaciones un buen té, ya que hay muchos de ellos para elegir. La comida estaba bien y nos dieron muy completo después del té de la tarde. Probablemente lo único que nos pareció difícil de conseguir el camarero o camarera, ya que todo parecía lleno y sirve varias mesas al mismo tiempo. A pesar de que el personal fue muy agradable y amable.

Today I visited Hotel Cafe Royal for their traditional afternoon tea. The decore was breath taking, the tea room had high ceilings and paintings with mirrored walls surrounding it.

Underbar service och mycket goda snittar och scones. Flera sorters te olika beroende på salt eller sött tilltugg. Njutbart.

We booked the table through open table and we were not disappointed. Staff were friendly and polite. Food was of a high standard and the wine was excellent. Would definitely visit again and recommend to others

Fuimos a la habitación y elegir 10 el menú pre-teatro. Aunque la comida era de un nivel aceptable, no hubo nada para destacar. De hecho, el budín fue la mejor parte de la comida por un largo margen.

Was okay but preferred it downstairs as it was before they gave the lobby a refurb.

We were there for a pre-theatre dinner. The service was painfully slow and inspite of us arriving at 5.30 we still hadn’t had our bill by 7.20 when we needed to leave. One of our party didn’t get the main course she had ordered but we were running so late by then, and they said it would take 10 mins to rectify the order, so we had to make do. The mains come with virtually nothing else on the plate so you get stung for “ sides” which at £6 a go, make a mockery of the good value pre-theatre price and make the experience far less affordable. Very disappointing.

An unexpected surprise - the venue is stunning and the location fabulous. Aside from a few glitches with service (more than made up for with free champagne) everything was perfect and the food genuinely delicious. Great value too! Recommended.

Beautiful building, very olde-worlde; although the restaurant seems very upmarket at first, it is not intimidating and is a very relaxing space to eat in. My companion & I could have sat chatting for hours - which we nearly did, as unfortunately the service - despite a plethora of waiters - was VERY slow (though impeccable, when it came!). After an hour and 20 minutes, we were just finishing our main courses when we realised the time, and that we had to leave for the theatre in 10 minutes. After apprising the staff of our situation, they quickly brought the bill, and, because of the delays, removed the cost of the (cold) desserts - which was just as well because after then minutes there was still no sign of them and we had to leave. A pity, because they sounded very nice. The salmon rillete starter and sea bream main that I had were both very good (but if you want any veg with the main you have to order separately and pay extra). The set menu is good value, because this is a pricey restaurant - the cheapest wine was £12 per glass. So, a lovely place to eat, but expensive and the service left a lot to be desired.

This was a dual celebration Saturday lunch and certainly met all our expectations. We were the only guests in for lunch which made the room quiet but the service was exceptional right from arrival to finish. It livened up as we were leaving with a party in for afternoon tea. The restaurant is moving and it sounds as if the set menu special with champagne(which was v nice) is stopping so if you are considering try it quick.

Mi marido y yo tuvimos una cena antes del teatro que era absolutamente fantástico. Todo, desde el personal de saludo a los camareros era preciosa, incluyendo el bar de cócteles, donde nada era demasiado problema. En general el servicio fue atento sin ser dominante y la comida era deliciosa, pagamos extra por champaña que fue una movida muy buena como era mi cumpleaños poco después. Sin duda lo recomendaría y esperamos volver en el futuro.

The Ten Room in it's temporary location is very nice. Great value lunch menu

Excellent quality and value offered with the pre-theatre menu, all set in beautiful surroundings! This I knew from previous visits but our visit on 7th April was outstanding because of the impeccable service and complimentary champagne. Thank you Café Royal, we shall be back!

What a wonderful experience we had here when we came for pre-theatre dinner & get together for a friends birthday. The food was delicious and the three courses and a glass of prossecco excellent value for money. The staff were just the right level of attentive making us feel very welcome and special This is my third visit to the Ten room and i will definitely go back

Excellent 3 course pre theatre dinner in Ten Room at Hotel Cafe Royal on Monday 26th March. Phoebe our waitress was very informed by Chef on the menu and made our visit extremely enjoyable. It was quiet during our visit however, this made for a relaxing ambience and as our theatre tickets were just around the corner (her majesty’s theatre) we felt this was our most chilled out time during our 3 day trip to London. 3 courses with champagne at £32 each was great value too and whilst Ten Room is finer dining it is still quite informal which is down to the excellent front of house staff who could not have been more pleasant. Thank you Phoebe and your male colleague.

This was my first time in this restaurant, booked for a mid week dinner with a friend. Very nice decor alhough seating quite ‘ deep’ and could benefit with having some cushions. Couldn’t fault the food which was lovely and portion size perfect. Wait staff very attentive, almost too much so - needed to ask that we wanted a bit more time before looking at the menu again for dessert as they arrived with menus as soon as we had finished main course and the plates were removed. I also assume they didn’t know what a lime soda was as I had to ask twice for it and on the second occasion was asked how I would like it to be made. In summary, nice food slightly let down by wait staff.

We came here for lunch after seeing the Charles I art exhibition at the Royal Academy. The refurbishment has been lovely. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had the set lunch menu - £20 for 2 courses and great value. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and will return. It's a lovely haven of peace just off bustling Regent St.

Let me start by saying the Ten Room at Hotel Cafe Royal is not cheap. But it is one of those places that from the moment you step inside you feel better, calmer, valued and taken care of. The service is excellent, and the place is a soothing oasis within the maelstrom that is now the West End.

The food was very good. The setting is very smart. The service is attentive but a little slow for pre-theatre. If they improved the pre-theatre speed then this would be the ideal pre-season location for the theatres in Shaftesbury Avenue.

Restaurant temporarily moved to first floor until April. Set menu £32 Inc glass of champagne. Mirrored walls olde world charm. Game terrine, quince, walnuts. Smoked salmon mousse, baked celeriac. Pollack fish, belly of pork, chocolate creme with mango sorbet... Enjoyable evening!

The service envied that of Michelin Starred restaurants and the food was lovely too. Quick service and delicious food. For the set menu, the options were varied and tasty. Great to see that it was a case of a few things done really well. Definitely will be back!

My boyfriend and I randomly popped in here for a quick drink. Obviously we weren't dressed for this place but were still welcomed. They have some really good unusual cocktails which although expensive at £15 or so for one, but they are definitely worth it.

Very welcoming staff, extremely pleasant ambience. Food and wine served with care and attention. Friendly personnel and I especially liked the free glass of champagne, because the staff decided that we had waited too long for our dessert. Would enjoy returning there.

A quiet oasis, but even so inte middle of everything. We had lunch here, and thanks to our waiter Giuseppe the meal was perfect. He was very friendly and attentive, and the food was good. We will be back.

Staff were friendly. Relaxed though was slightly worried because took a while to order food. Restaurant was quiet but might be due to it being early evening in January. Relaxed atmosphere though perhaps slightly sterile. Food was excellent.

Primera vez en el 10 en la habitación y 3 platos. Ofrecen Bookatable El comedor era grande pero íntimo lejos de las multitudes de navidad. Estaba decorada con buen gusto con grandes osos polares en la esquina y un gran árbol blanco eficacia como pieza central el cual no causa un poco de manouvering para llegar pasado. De todas maneras más al punto, la comida era excelente. Mi hermano y yo tuvimos el apionabo sopa y el pollo que eran principal cocinado a la perfección y con una presentación, pero la pieza de los postres eran las calificó de bosque negro pastel y la pannacotta y mango sorbete eran excelentes. Excelente servicio, personal atento y una copa de champán antes de la panto a la vuelta de la esquina. Un memorable comienzo de la noche.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. We had lunch in the Ten Room restaurant. Our meal was perfect, particularly the liver paté and the beef cheek. My only criticism was that the waiter did not mention the set menu, only giving us the a la carte one. Fortunately, I knew about the set menu as we were not prepared to pay the a la carte prices! The ambience of the hotel (cocktail bar and tea room looked beautiful ) was tasteful and calming after the chaos of shoppers outside on Regent Street.

Went for dinner New Year's Eve. Disappointing overall. Food good but main course portion ridiculously small. Service charming but very scattergun. As for ambience, the restaurant was perfectly happy for guests to spend dinner on the biggest night of the year in T-shirts, trainers and tracksuit bottoms. It was New Year's Eve for goodness sake in a smart restaurant, surely they can insist on at least smart casual. Meal worked out at over £150 a head without being extravagant in wine choices or quantities. If this is the experience one should expect on New Year's Eve from one of the smartest venues in London, I am lost for words.

Estuve aquí por negocios e invitó a mi madre y mi hermana, que vive cerca, para el almuerzo. Ella sugirió uno de nuestros favoritos de la familia en la calle jermyn, pero tenía un coche viniendo a buscarme desde el hotel hasta el aeropuerto, y no quería tener que luchar así que nos acomodamos para el restaurante. Pedí pechuga de pato y estaba desorientado cuando recibí algunas láminas versus toda una pechuga de pato como normalmente uno recibe en los restaurantes. Asimismo, mi madre pidió cordero a la parrilla y tomé unas cuantas virutas de cordero. Ella estalló riendo, era tan ridículo. Llegamos a la conclusión de que este lugar atendidos lunching dieta perpetua. Este restaurante está rodeado por un mar de excepcionales restaurantes y realmente necesita intensificar su juego si va a estar cobrando esos precios.

My husband and I do enjoy our dining experiences at the Ten Room and visited again last night. We were on the Bookatable offer which is good value for money, and usually offers three excellent choices in the starters, mains and puddings sections plus a glass of champagne. My husband chose what was described as "smoked duck with poached quince and toasted brioche but sadly the "duck" was a bit underwhelming. I was looking forward to a starter of "smoked salmon with a quail's egg" but my plate arrived with a smoked salmon terrine - and my husband's brioche on it! The chef's explanation was that he was being a little creative.... Our main course of braised beef cheek with a parsnip puree was excellent and so was the dessert of Black Forest gateau with Chantilly creme and kirsch. Service by the dynamic duo of Matteo and Phoebe was excellent - professional and well informed, and we thoroughly enjoyed their kind and helpful presence. We enjoyed our evening overall and we shall certainly return to Ten Room in the future, but I would like the chef to bear in mind that guests prefer not to be taken for granted. Also, it is more helpful for guests to have explained to them in advance of service why what they have chosen might not be available. Thank you once again to Matteo and Phoebe who went "above and beyond" to ensure that our overall experience at Ten Room last night was a good one. The polar bears are delightful and the rest of the Christmas decor simple and elegant.

My wife and I both enjoy going to Ten Room - a lovely setting with good service and a touch of elegance without being stuffy in any way. The staff are pleasant and welcoming although occassionally a bit inattentive. They are happy to cater for gluten free and offer some quite healthy menu options. Our one disappointment this time was the food. We chose for the main course bream with kale and had side dishes of veg. The fish and veg were tasty and well cooked - but all of it was done in butter which made the overall meal far too greasy for our liking. Indeed we both felt uncomfortable afterwards. Butter obviously adds richness to a dish, but it needs some acidity to cut through it and balance that fat. This was the first time we have been disappointed with the food.

We had the pre-theatre menu with a glass of champagne plus an excellent bottle of rioja. The food was excellent, well-cooked and beautifully presented, with three very different options for starter and main, followed by a selection of desserts or cheese (at a supplement). We added an additional side of dauphinoise potatoes to share between the two of us having beef, which was quite sufficient as the substantial pieces of beef were very filling.

Ten Room is a comfortable and classy venue with attentive staff and great food. The adjacent Green Room bar is lovely - cosy and inviting and so imaginatively decorated for Christmas. I found this venue hard to fault.

Booked the table for my girlfriend’s birthday. Due to the heritage and price of the food I was expecting an elegant, luxurious experience. Instead, the food was average at best, and the service was really poor. Ordered a couple of cocktails that took forever to arrive and had to prompt the waiter. Do not want to be harsh but I think our waitress was new and was not equipped for the role. Certainly not worth the money and would not recommend to anyone else. Such a shame as I wanted this to be a special evening.

Food and service were ok but we were on the edge so we had a constant stream of people going from the bar to the toilets It was like dining in a corridor. Considering the cost of the meal this was naturally disappointing

Other reviews indicated it would be a good place for a quiet meal. Ambience was good with space around us and easy to have a good conversation. Food was meeting expectations for the price level however not exceeding. Quite pricey for a quiet lunch but came with nice touches of several different types of pre-meal bread and spread. Service was attentive bordering on pushy but not to the point of it being an issue. Glad I went so I could see something new but it's not likely I'll be back. There are other places in the area higher on my list.

I booked for the set dinner menu - including a glass of champagne to celebrate a very special occasion with my boyfriend and his parents and the experience was underwhelming from the start. We walked into the restaurant greeted only by the door man and left standing around for 5 minutes before I eventually walked across the restaurant to the kitchen doors and got the attention of a waitress after being ignored by a number of others.

I came here for coffee and cake in the hotel lobby. It's pretty chaotic and lacks a certain level of service I would expect from a supposed 5 star hotel. Once you're sat you're forgotten about - nobody came to take my order. Once you've finished nobody clears the dirty plates or offers another tea or coffee. The staff walked past my table endless times but nobody bothered coming over to check on me. It seems no member of staff was responsible for the area in which I was sat. More training and attentiveness required.

It is a shame, as the Cafe Royal Hotel is on my list of hotels to check out in London, well, was perhaps I should say as its off now.The service really let the place down, and frankly if this is what we measure how the hotel may be by, then I would not chose to stay here. Table not cleared, water not brought, orders slow to be taken, mess left on the table between courses.The food was not terrible, I would expect better frankly, it may be though that this outlet just isnt especially high end. The liver parfait was acceptable, brioche to have it with never arrived, the bread for the table arrived in the mean time and we made do. A Kir Royal arrived, disappointing as not cold, too much Kir and not sprightly enough for me. I took the lobster bisque which was tasty, but, not really rich enough to be considered a truly memorable bisque.Mains - crab spagetti, odd after taste, little crab and huge amount of pasta. I like to try Lobster thermidore every now and again, and it is one of those dishes so easy to get right, and easy to get wrong. This one was more to the wrong as the lobster had not been warmed through and was watery in the tepid thermidore sauce, that also seemed to have slightly separated and congealed. The chips were OK though!Again, service really let this place down, it was not nearly on point at all...something Im disturbed to see again and again in high end London venues...

Service leaves a lot to be desired

Enjoyed holiday afternoon tea with our work team this past week. The decorations were splendid, the sandwiches, scones and sweets were excellent. The tea selection was more than sufficient. The service was attentive, minus a few clumsy pours. Our servers patiently answered questions and generally handled the transitions well. The only thing that kept the rating from a full 5 was the noise level. As the room was quite full, guest found themselves competing with the volume of the pianist. In that setting it is important that the pianist lower their volume so people do not become increasingly loud just to be heard. It isn't a night club.

We dined here pre-theatre. The food and service was excellent and pre-theatre menu excellent value for money

Great birthday meal and trip to London to see a show thanks

Visited on a Wednesday evening with wife for a mid week treat. Overall a nice experience, but for the money, London has many better options.Our waiter Matteo was excellent. Really good, obviously very experienced and a credit to the restaurant.The food was very good too, but not spectacular. And I'm not a fan of the dining room. Too much like a foyer and doesn't have much atmosphere.We are on the fixed menu and with wine the bill was about £100. Good value, but again not amazing, particularly compared to what's available close by.

Excellent service with relaxing inviting ambiance. Visited after the Christmas lights were switched on and with all the hustle and bustle outside with the crowds it was a place to drink and eat escaping from the rush. Lovely decor and clean lines with facilities, nice Christmas decorations. Service attentive, well presented and much appreciated. The menu selection was superb for my husband with plenty of fish dishes to choose from but a little limited for myself but what I did select was cooked as required and very tasty. Skipped starters as nothing genuinely appealed.The drinks were served efficiently but they are not cheap but we expected this but that may explain why even though we booked a table in advance to make sure we had a table pre show the restaurant had hardly anyone in considering it is so busy and festive outside.Music played was not distracting pleasant background noise.Looking forward to returning.

It was our second time in ten room.very good Food friendly service and nice atmosphere.The piano player was a highlight! After piano was music from the radio JAZZ music ... we don’t like ! Not nice for dinner!!!!

First time at this restaurant. The service was efficient and welcoming, ambience relaxing without being too stuffy. Agree with other reviewers that the Christmas are quite eye catching. Menu Orders were taken the food without any fuss and arrived within an acceptable timeframe. The dish was lovely but not necessarily outstanding. For the amount being charged, kind of expect much more.The dessert was artistic in its presentation and tasted nice as well. Afterwards, stopped off in the Green Bar for a few cocktails. Again, lovely staff acceptable drinks however quite small and lack a bit of atmosphere. Understand a refurbishment is being considered? Overall, a pleasant experience. Key reason for going to this place were part nostalgic. That said, glad I tried the food however for the amount that was charged expected much more so may not be to everyone's taste.

The service for Afternoon and atmoshere was amazing, the christmas decorations were amazing. Regardin afternoon tea, for 75 pounds You expect much more.Sandwiches were so simple, even for Yourself You do better at home.It was simply bread and You can not feel anything more, no taste.The desserts were nice and tea choice really good.Of course You should try it once, but for such a price You expect much more quality for such a price

excellent pre theatre dinner good value and well presented food - only downside is that its a tad minimalist, if your really hungry you maybe disappointed, but overall this is one of the best Pre Theatre dinners in town recommended

Great afternoon tea, extremely slow service even though the place was not even half full. As an example warm scones on the table and a recommendation from staff to enjoy while warm but the long expected first refill of the tea took another 15 minutes.

Had the set menu which was absolutely superb and good value. Service was outstanding.

The Ten Room @ Hotel Café Royal is a convenient location for business meetings; easy to get to, and the service, food, beverages etc. is all above standard fare. <br /><br />Despite the relatively large open room, you can always get a table, where you can have business conversations and maintain privacy.

The reviews for the Ten Room when it first opened were pretty bad but they have obviously listened, the decor and ambience are welcoming. There was a pianist playing during dinner which added to the relaxed atmosphere. The food was very good and there was a set menu for a very reasonable price. If you want the classic Cafe Royal look then book afternoon tea in the Oscar Wilde bar.

A delightful couple of hours - coffee and amazing chocolate cookies first, lovely Sancerre afterwards - and all under the watchful eye of the lovely Phoebe!

This is a mixed review. The food at Ten Room was what you&#039;d expect: well cooked and well presented. The starter and main course was good, the pudding, however, was exceptional. The service however wasn&#039;t fantastic. I think I must have arrived wearing my cloak of invisibility. Our meal was &#039;pre-theatre&#039;. We arrived at 4.15 and had to be at the theatre for an early &#039;curtain-up&#039; at 6.30pm. I eventually had to interrupt another customer just so the waiter knew we needed something. At 5.45 I had to ask for the pudding and the bill. At 6 I just sat and waved the bill in the air waiting, in vain, to pay. Very disappointing.

My husband and I have often enjoyed dinner at Ten Room and last Friday evening was no exception. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and settled at our table, and nothing was too much trouble for our wait staff. We were on a Bookatable offer which is great value for money at this elegant restaurant at 3 courses plus a glass of excellent champagne for £32. My husband and I both chose starters of beetroot carpaccio and I followed this with a main of bream and samphire in a delicious white wine sauce, while my husband had the pork chop with boulangere potatoes and confit onions in a lovely jus. I finished with a cheesecake and quince and pear ice cream while my husband tucked into the cheeseboard. The food was outstanding, and service by Matteo,Stephan and Faris friendly, informative, charming and professional and as usual we thoroughly enjoyed our evening there.

Man vet att det är lite bättre klass på hotellet när det inte finns någon frukostbuffé utan att det istället är a´la carte.Det stämde även i det här fallet och vi var väldigt nöjde med våra frukostar här.

The food here is outstanding and reasonably priced. Fantastic ingredients and perfectly cooked. They don't rush you and you can relax and unwind. Marco was particularly lovely.Have been here twice now and the food was consistently fantastic! Will be back

Beautiful place, but I wasn&#039;t happy with the choice on the pre theatre menu and I couldn&#039;t afford the a la carte menu so I had leave, which was a shame because it was such a nice place
