Temujin Restaurant and Takeaway in Calderdale

Veg takeaway order had very dark blue squid ink sac in it that stained mouth. Called and they said that squid arrives to them prepared which begs the question where on earth did it come from then. Disappointing and disgusting experience - perhaps a comedian chef thought it funny to put one in a veg order - guess we'll never know. Contamination issue and no longer trusted/ used.

We went for a family evening meal and it was yummy, fantastic we had starters, prawn crackers and some boiled and egg fried rice to share the main course's were as you wanted it because you chose everything and then it's stir-fried to prefection

Initially informed that the order was running late and a new time was 2100 on the app. Then arrived 2015 and the food was cold and not worth £27.50. I will never use again!

Visited for the first time a couple of weeks ago as part of a group of around 12 people. Had the endless stir-fry and despite the fact that you choose the ingredients and quantities from the choices on offer yourself before giving these to the staff to prepare for you, the food is very nice. The wait staff were very attentive and always on hand for any drinks etc... required. The atmosphere is a little strange as it feels a bit more like a canteen than a restaurant. Not the cheapest of places but certainly wouldn't put me off visiting again.

Been here 5 times, same time , same day always £61 yet last night it was £106, absolutely appalling, spoke to the waitress who wasn’t at all bothered, will not be returning again

The food arrived in good time . We poured a portion out of each box into our bowls. The food was way tooooo salty and inedible. We spent over £40 for two dishes and a portion of salt and pepper chips and prawn crackers. I will be speaking to the chefs about how salty the food was. Very unhappy with the food.

This dining concept really doesn’t work ! Choose your oils and sauces before you even know what you’re eating ? It’s so weird and for anyone who know’s about food or cooking will think the same as me . You’re given a tiny plate to then go choose your veg , noodles and meat . All raw on the same plate . Most of the food falls on the floor because the plate is so small to allow the food to stay on it . Then when the food was cooked it was oily and tasteless but still they charged us £60 for three people for one tiny bowl of noodles and three drinks . I never write reviews , good or bad but I felt the need to write one this time .

Have eaten Temujin on road shows; first time at the restaurant. Little or no explanation of how it works on arrival. A splash of pens and scorecards across the table. Tiny plates used to gather your selected ingredients. A little concerned that meat is left out in the open (in the fridge). None of us had dodgy tummy’s the next day, so that is reassuring. I wonder what it’s like on a hot day. The food was lovely 🥰 and the recommend menus and sauces were very helpful. Coke and Lemonade is flat!! No gas. Staff are very friendly and polite. No atmosphere and dodgy wall displays. We ordered x2 endless meals - which were not needed. Possibly overspend on our part. Opt for this if you are very hungry! The rice and large prawn 🦐 crackers are a good addition. All in all, I would go again.

Love it, everything about this place was epic. The concept is good. Also the tattooed blond guy didn't exactly hurt the eyes either

Great food and atmosphere. Glad we tried it. Price is borderline acceptable. Because it's all you can eat it's tough to really judge the price. But an average person eating a reasonable amount of food is going to be slightly on the expensive side for the area in my opinion.

One of my favourite food places around Yorkshire, been coming for over 10 years now, always nice atmosphere, polite staff members, great taste of food, really like that you can choose all ingredients you want to have in your meal by yourself, recommend for everyone who likes good food!

First time eating at Temujin after many people have recommended it in the past. It really does live up to the hype! The food was actually nicer than I anticipated! Choose your oil, sauce and seasonings on a tick sheet, then go and choose your noodles/veg/meat from the counter before handing it all to the chef who cooks it up in a flaming wok before bringing it to your table. Very quick & friendly service for us although there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant (Wednesday evening). Drinks can be pricey, but that's not unusual nowadays especially for restaurants. Will definitely return! (definitely try the kangaroo.... Very nice!)

Beauty of the restaurant is they cook in front of us and the ingredients what we choose. Food are delicious. Had Kangaroo first time here. Must try restaurant for the cooking process in front of us. Little bit costlier for full course.

1st time for us ...our neighbours took us over for a treat..the waitress explained how it works and away you go....so much to choose from ...fill your side plate with what you want cooking...leave your written order on how you'd like it cooked (oils, sauce and sides) don't forget to put your name and table number on your order form. Don't be greedy trying to get it all on one plate as you can go up as many times as you like ....so you get to experiment with the choices and flavours...I could only manage 3 plates as you got free boiled rice too.

Went with my partner and her family and we loved it. Great selection of meat, fish, meat alternatives and veg which leads to almost unlimited food combinations when you include oils and sauces- each one tasting amazing! Cannot recommend this place enough and will certainly be back in the future.

Amazing experience! We went here for my 9 years olds birthday and it didn't disappoint. Love the little tick sheets you get to choose the oils and sauces before you go up to select your noodles, protein and veggies. My two boys loved choosing there food this way. Given you can go back as many times as you can humanly consume, you can try as many as you like or just stick to the same one if you find a favourite. I let me boys have free reign on my last bowl and choose all my oils, garnishes and sauces. Of course, it was chilli everything - turned out really nice too. Seeing the chefs cook you selection right in front of you is awesome too. We will be back, in the meantime going to purchase one of the do it at home kits they have for sale so we can try and recreate the experience midweek. Thanks Temujin for a great, memorable experience. we will be back.

An absolute gem of an establishment. Offering amazing views of the canal. We arrived at opening time on a Sunday and had the whole place to ourselves for most of our meal (which was perfect for us). We partook in the unlimited stir fry for £23.50 p/p and it was worth the money, but there is also a main menu available. Getting to create your own combinations of oils, sauces and garnishes was fun (recommendations also provided), the ingredients were fresh and offered a fantastic selection of vegetables, meat and fish. The staff members were friendly and very accommodating. It was a great Sunday lunch and I will be returning many, many more times.

Found something in the stir fry so I couldn’t eat it, not even sure what it is

Very underwhelming. Just like ordering takeaway, but the food isn't as good and it costs twice as much. I tried three of your sauces, all where quite bad. The sweet and sour tasted like asda smart price sauce from a jar. the hoysin tasted like burned wok. And the curry seemed devoid of all flavour (and sauce, not sure if you where rationing it?) Just turned the chicken slightly yellow. And the 1 bit you really want to be good, the noodles, where absaloutely dreadful. Like something straight out of a packet. To the point that I didn't actually want them in my food, so soldiered on with just fried rice. Wish I hadn't. The rice was all soggy, so I got fried rice... Again, extremely soggy. On the whole, I would recommend staying in and ordering delivery from your local Chinese. You will get better noodles, rice and meat. The only saving grace was the ice cream sunde at the end. Looked half decent. (If it wasn't for this, food would have got 1 star) Left hungry because I didn't want to eat any more of what you had to offer. However, there is a nice view and friendly staff though. But thats not what I go to a restaurant for unfortunately. Side note - not sure what's Mongolian about the Chinese and Thai food on offer. Edit- as for the sarky reply, I note you didn't refute the fact that you do indeed serve packet noodles with low quality sauce. I don't tend to leave reviews when the place I visit is acceptable, unless my expectations are surpassed. In which case I leave a positive review. Seems many places bank on British politeness to get away with overcharging for rubbish. So my review stands. You serve unappetising food at a high price. The only positive is the deserts and staff. Try improving your product instead or worrying about the poor eating establishments I've been to before eh? I'd be more than happy to show you how to make curry sauce and sweet and sour with flavour if it would help you out? Poor show when I can Outcook a professional establishment. Didn't the huddersfield branch close because the quality dripped off?

Restaurant situated above a pub, next to a canal. Plenty of free car parking right next to the restaurant. We arrived at 12:30 on Sunday for lunch and we were the first to be served. Plenty of stir fry ingredients which you choose yourself; 10 different meats and all the veg you could imagine. You then write down how you'd like it to be cooked (oil, sauces & toppings) and the chefs prepare it for you in minutes. Excellent place to eat.

Fantastic food, great quality and huge portions! It was still piping hot when it arrived - fab considering the distance. Some of the sauce had leaked from the starter and the driver phoned the restaurant to let them know - and someone from there phoned me to check the food was still ok (which it was) - great customer service. Well done all round.

4**** for food from us. if you have not tried this type of cuisine before and you are new to this ( except for when you make home made stir fry) can be a hit and miss. My 1st portion was delicious but my 2nd choice of the main didn’t go down so well. We both had beef and veg stir fry with noodles x 3 and prawns and veg stir fry x 1 Beef was great but prawns not so much. 5***** for service ! Staff are very attentive I must say, pleasant and helpful. What we found tricky was that when we explained this was our first visit, we were offered the menus as well as the “food sheets” and told to fill in our table number and names, and get our ingredients and bring those to the chef ( that’s is true) but never got to see what the price was ( didn’t really anticipate how expensive it was gonna be) no doubt products are fresh etc but I think £26.95 per main ( buffet) is a lot considering it was two of us, who by the time we sat down we were already down by £53.95 before we even ordered any drinks / sides never mind desert. Mindfulness necessary. 2** for atmosphere only because there were no music, felt bare, felt as though while we were sat on our own table all we could hear is other people’s conversations and the fire 🔥 at the chefs kitchen This may seem harsh however this our honest opinion from the experience. Others may like the place without any music. So overall experience was 3+***, we see it unlikely to come back given the prices, but definitely different experience and food I’d say 7/10

I used to go to the Temujin in Milnsbridge, and have wanted to try this one for a while. Lovely location, with the right seat you can see over the marina. Staff were very professional and polite. Food was delicious and so much to choose from. It did get a little pricey with drinks and dessert but was worth it. Will definitely be going again.

Wasn't sure about going in as the entrance is a bit narrow and unwelcoming, but once inside, it is nice, and some tables have views over the water. Staff are very friendly and helpful and you can choose from a fantastic selection of food including kangaroo and calamari with veg and noodles. Very well cooked and brought to your table. Excellent cocktails too.

Never been here before but seen a photo on Facebook of the share box and thought we have to try. Ordered it for collection. They said it would be half hour but was actually only 15 minutes :-) the restaurant looks fab! Got my food and I loved it! Full of flavour. The chicken was amazing. Loved the noodles. Wasn't 100% on the spring rolls but overall it was amazing. It is a sharebox and says serves 2 to 3. It is large enough for 2 people pushing it for 3 unless you've a small appetite. We will definitely be back at some point.

Seen a sharing box on Facebook that seemed to be popular ordered online and headed over to collect. It’s situated to the side of the moorings so nice location if your eating in. The food was delicious the only thing I wasn’t so sure on was the spring rolls but other than that it was good 😌 It will easily feed 2-3 people so it’s priced about right for what you get. Would recommend the honey and soy chicken 🐓 yum 😋

First time visiting and well worth it. The location is beautiful, looking out onto the canal and the town. The chefs were brilliant, the food choice was great and the food was amazing. I'd highly recommend the starters too, huge portions and very tasty. If you're in Sowerby Bridge, it shouldn't be missed.

Amazing little restaurant, loads of food options available. We had the all you can eat menu, and the small cards you use to choose your ingredients were straightforward and easy to understand. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout and facilities were clean. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting a delicious lunch/dinner you can be involved in.

Firstly let me just say, food tremendous, portion size superb, however we ordered a takeaway this evening, we live about 10 mins away by car and couldn't collect ourselves due to having a couple of drinks, we ordered via the restaurant app and was advised it would be around 1 hour for delivery, fair enough as for fresh quality food from a busy restaurant thats standard, however 1hr 20mins later we get a call asking where our property was, (looking on Google maps its not difficult to find), after several attempts to explain and no progress made we had to walk 200m down to a main road to collect our food, this is after paying £40 for the food including a delivery charge!!! Really poor service from a delivery point of view and very disappointing given the level of money paid, we will never order takeaway from here again and would not recommend anyone to order through the restaurant website due to this, you would be better eating in or tossing the coin with one of the delivery apps, in summary great food but shocking service for the price which ruined the whole experience.

Excellent stir fry and nice egg fried rice much better than a Chinese nowhere near as greasy.

Been coming here for longer than I can remember. Doesn't change much, but why change a winning recipe. You choose your raw food and watch as the chef's put on a display of flames and stir fry it with tasty sauces, oils and garnishes you choose. Go back as many times as you want to try all the different meats and combos. Update: Although the menu and overall offering is still a great concept I find the weekend pricing too much. On my most recent visit the restaurant wasn't overly busy but towards the end of the evening the time taken to prepare dishes was way too long. So we've gone from 5* to 4* for me.

Food was very nice extremely fresh pick up a bowl fill with veg and meat and add your sauce and oil you Want To the piece of paper pass it to the wok man and he cooks it up for you in minutes lots of staff and they are all on very nice and on job I love these village restaurants Well away from the big city I live 👌

Excellent food. Friendly staff. Good cooks. Good choice for the stir fry. Free parking. Lovely location. High-priced bottled beers was the only down side. We went at a quiet time. The special cooking in an open area and the unique model make this place something special. It was excellent value.

Temujin hosted my choir Christmas party and it was absolutely faultless. From the very start with the initial booking right through to service on the night, everything was seamless and easy. The food was superb and they catered really well to a group of 30+ people, even those with dietary requirements. Dave was a pleasure to deal with, arranging all the details for us. I would highly recommend Temujin for a party or I have had many a good meal here as a family.

Temujin's is the best place you can go to for a stir fry and is one of the best restaurants in Calderdale.

No, never again. I am big fan of mongolian bbq restaurants. One of the best was Gourmet City in Heidelberg, Germany and then in few other amazing across UK.Those restaurants charged around £ 20, offer several exotic meat, sea food and vegetables for stir frying. Furthermore, they had over 20+ other dishes, 5+ desserts, and salad bar. I expected same big range of choice. Temujin charged around £ 20 but it was far behind any other mongolian bbq restaurants I have visited. Furthermore, they wanted extra money for starters and desserts. If you are looking for proper mangolian bbq experience, then Temujin is not recommended. They are over priced for what they serve.

Lovely food whether you eat in or takeaway. We have been to the Sowerby Bridge restaurant a few times and we order quite regularly. The stir fry’s are always spot on and the chicken boxes are also really tasty. David and the team do an amazing job, you can tell they really care. It’s especially good if you love stir fry and like to try out different options as there is such a wide variety of choice.

As per usual the food Friday lunchtime. Shared previous photos good food was awesome good variety for all vegetarians too, variety beef chicken gammon kangaroo calamari prawns tofu lamb etc. Loads new starters sharing platters delicious desserts gf vegan drinks new varieties cocktails whole timujin has been revamped new look even better. Good value eat all you can stir-fry don't even need starter but they are good and you certainly will be happy you went there staff friendly owner David a good guy goes extra mile sanitizer stations and gel on tables makes sure you stay well and return become like family a good time always we only eat 2 places timujin and another gem attached to premier broadstreet halifax all good clean go extra mile

Ridiculous dessert portion for £15

The food was delicious and it was great to be able to try out different flavours and combinations of ingredients. However it seems prices have gone up quite considerably since we were last there. Our meal for four adults, on a Friday evening, including a bottle of wine, cost just over £100. Could this be why the restaurant was empty by 9pm? I am a vegetarian so £19.95 is an expensive meal. Sorry but it will be only special occasions in the future.

Took my partner for a meal as she had never experienced temujin. As always the food was delicious. Chris and the team do a great job in giving you a great experience eating there. Ate there many times myself and will continue to return.

I love this stir fry/ chinese restaurant. I come every time I travel here to see family. Very interesting place which gives you the opportunity to choose your own ingredients, sauces, oils and garnish for your meal. They have meat (even kangaroo, crocodile and buffulo), alternative meat (quorn), vegetables and rice noodles. It's a buffet place where you can go up as many times as you want (I can't get past my 3rd time 😅). You can get a bowl of rice for free. But prawn crackers and other starters might cost more. The views are pretty too. Can't really fault here

First time back since lockdown and was not disappointed. Prefer the new way of marking what you want and it being brought over. Looking forward to the next visit

Not bad food but subpar for the cost. £12 for a tiny box of stir fry that was dry and my cashews were just placed in there not sprinkled crumbs.
