We popped in here on a few nights during a recent stay in Leeds … It’s a very good locals type of pub with a nice atmosphere … The staff seemed friendly and service was quick … Beer good too which is always a bonus … I would have no hesitation in returning to this pub if I’m ever in Leeds again

I asked to speak to the manager ( Ian ) to congratulate him on the well kept ale's and how well the staff managed the bar. People were trying to push in and they dealt with it so professionally!!! Hats off all round

This is a place that you can call in at anytime and the welcome is always friendly and inviting. The staff have all got a lot of service time in and know what it takes to make you feel like that you belong.

This is a little gem of a pub. Such a friendly atmosphere from staff and patrons. Craig the barman is a superstar who made the experience sooo much better! He was so lovely, friendly and cheerful. Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants a friendly, fun atmosphere 😀

Myself and my partner visit the templar quite frequently on a Friday night or Saturday night even though we are NOT regularise we're in this Friday just gone nad yes it was very very busy but even after waiting for 10 minutes to be served IT WAS worth the wait the staff as usual were certious and friendly YES IT is a quaint OLD fashioned pub. But YOU cannot beat the old fashioned types these days I WOULD sooner be in an old fashioned boozer to some of these modern day places

Proper old school pub. Good beer.

Cask ale only £2.3 a pint on Monday. Try the Old Peculiar. Wonderfully smooth! Good malt sweetness and favour balanced with a little hops. Would definitely return next Monday to try other local cask ales.

Stumbled across this classic old Tetley boozer on Cask Monday where the beers are priced at the ridiculously low price of £2.30 ALL DAY! Great choice of ale plus World Cup 🏏 on TV - what’s not to like?

I been drinking in this pub with friends for many many years with no issues, but they is a member of bar staff called Craig that just likes to bring issues, just watch what you say to or around him as he loves to run and tell tales, and by him doing that got me barred, last year, no loss really and myself and friends go drink else where now so it’s business they have lost, Keep up the good work that’s all I can say, no life lost if owt did me a favour

When I come up from Rochester Kent, I always go to the Templar. The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome.

The best cask in the city. Perfectly kept with a nice range of local beers in a friendly traditional pub. Also £2.30 for a pint on Mondays which is stupidly good value.

The Templar is a great pub even by Leeds high standard. Always a good selection of beers served in perfect condition. Friendly locals & welcoming bar staff. I visit Leeds once a month & they always ask 'Is it a pint of Kirkstall Brewery?'. Exterior is by Burmantofts tiling. The traditional wood interior still has its bell pushes. Quite central so definitely worth a visit if you want to experience the real city and its history & avoid generic bars

Came here on recommendation by staff at the Town Hall Tavern and we were not disappointed. A gem of a Greene King pub that has lots of guest ales ( plus Peroni and Madri on tap for the ladies.) Paulicarus started on Osset White Rat followed by Belhaven 80 shilling and finally Kirkstall Three Swords. A blackboard displays the full range of 8 real ales. The bar is long and narrow with beams and oak panelling. Lovely fixtures and fittings. Too many TV's for me. Will definitely add it to my list of favourite Leeds bars.

Its always a pleasure to visit your local in the City. This is a proper pub, run by passionate people who want to make everything just right.

For a “southern softy”, I was well impressed with the pub. Proper people behind the bar and clearly a bunch of locals the other side. Lager was spot on. Bloody liked it and would definitely come back.

Next to the source of the BEST Thai food in the UK (allegedly according to graffiti seen at the premisis.. but I tend to agree), the Templar has a good set of local drops on draft.. and 10% off for CAMRA members.

One of the best kept pints I have had in a long time. The staff are all friendly and well presented, so is the pub, always clean and tidy, even the gents is spotless and smells fresh. Overall one of the best traditional pubs in Leeds.

Found this little gem amongst the big trendy bars in Leeds central. If you want value for money drinks with the locals, then this is the place. Staff friendly and helpful and busy friendly atmosphere. A vodka and coke and a pint for under 7 quid served with a friendly smile and quick service too despite the volume of customers. About 5 mins walk from the first direct arena and opposite a travelodge, location perfect

I've been going to the Templar for a long time and its a haven of working class drinking in a city that's being swallowed up by soulless bars & tower blocks. Keep up the good work folks and lets hope you're around for a long time to come.

Its 30 odd years since I was last in here and thankfully its still as good now as then .Thank god its still a good old fashioned pub and not one of the faceless trendy wine and cocktail bars. Plenty of choice on beer and larger had a pint of Tetleys bitter again just like it used to be smooth and creamy will definitely bob in again next time I'm in Leeds.

This is a traditional city centre pub in a city which has very few of them nowadays. There is a great choice of around 7 or 8 cask ales which on a Monday are only £2.30 a pint. My personal fave is the Kirkstall “Three Swords”. The staff are all friendly and helpful too!

Small pub staff seemed friendly however the toilets 🤢 water was leaking down from the roof of the toilets down side of the doors on the floor

Situated on Vicar Lane, opposite the bottom entrance to the Grand Arcade, it's hard to believe that this beautiful old pub was earmarked for demolition only a few years ago. Hopefully that threat has now been totally rescinded , because in a city full of gentrified, characterless, overpriced bars, it stands out like treasure. The Templar is a good old-fashioned English pub, one of the very last decent ones in Leeds city centre. It has a wonderful historic exterior, with matching interior architecture, great staff, an excellent range of well-kept ales, sold at very reasonable prices, and friendly locals. Definitely somewhere to check out if you're visiting Leeds

Super pub near the Hilton Hampton where the bar is a bit soul less. Great attentive staff, good beers, nice atmosphere and sport too. Popped in a few times between Xmas and the New Year. Would thoroughly recommend.
