Téatro in Cotswold

A Cirencester resident all my life I remember the building best when it was a school, having heard that the restaurant was very good we decided to try it on a whim, very rewarding.

Friendly service, delicious food.

Lovely restaurant, came here yesterday to celebrate a birthday dinner. Such lovely, friendly staff, delicious food, and a pretty restaurant. Would definitely return. The staff had the right balance of being attentive, but also leaving us to it.

Food was very good we had steaks and the marmalade bread & butter was delicious, service good Shame they don't accept cash ! But all in all a pleasant evening

Pretty nice meal - pricey for what it was. Too chilly to sit outdoors but outdoor seating looked nice.

We had dinner at Téatro as we were staying at Ingleside House. Lovely decor and friendly service with a good garden area. We ate inside and started with a good Twice Baked Cheese Souffle, with Gouda Cheese Sauce and a Burrata with Heritage Tomatoes. Mains were a delicious Native Breed Pork Chop cooked on the Josper grill and the Moules Mariniere, with sourdough. And to finish a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream.

The young lads who served us were brilliant. The food was very disappointing. I booked this restaurant a month ago for a special birthday meal while we are visiting the Cotswolds. I ordered the 'vegan option available' burger, as I was hungry and needed some protein, but then the waiter had to come back as the chef couldn't make one. My only other option as a vegetarian was cauliflower 'steak' and chips for £20 (chips are only £4.50, so that would have been a very expensive bit of cauliflower), so I decided on the gnocchi. When it arrived it was hilariously small portion, 5 pieces of bread like dumplings in a thin spicy sauce. Nowhere near worth £17 so I cut my losses, sent it back and asked for a portion of chips. My partner had pork which he said was a nice cut of meat, but very salty and overcooked. We ended up going to McDonald's. As the other recent reviews have said, spend your money elsewhere.

Lovely :) fresh food good service

Very disappointing. Prosecco cocktail was flat and pineapple mojito was bland. We didn’t finish our cocktails and server didn’t bother to ask why. Ordered burrata and tomato starter. Tomatoes were sour and off. Server said this was just the dressing. It wasn’t. Cancelled main course and went elsewhere. Would not recommend.

Staff were lovely and helpful (comped the inedible meals) but the chef is quite clearly incapable of cooking a steak, a person in my party ordered a sirloin and the first attempt was incredibly tough, the second order was ridiculously salty, getting to the point where he went hungry to prevent further disappointment. On top of this my brother ordered a medium steak and received a rare one (not mentioned to staff because he still ate it) Everyone else’s meals were adequate but considering the price, the quality was not worth it. Spend your money elsewhere.

Had dinner here for my hobby’s birthday while visiting England. We were accommodated without having a reservation. Food was very good. They had a lot of orders come in at the same time, so we were offered complementary olives, which were delicious. My husband had steak with pepper sauce, it was very good and so was the chocolate marquis dessert.

Very nice food, rather pricy, very quiet although decor nice (rich warm colours)

Lovely little restaurant, great staff, they did a good roast (but not chicken!). Best cauliflower cheese I have ever had! Shame they didn't have any veggie gravy and they couldn't bring the desserts out in time for us to enjoy them.

Had a lovely meal here on Wednesday 20th March. The restaurant is very pleasant with a very intimate feel to it. No big open spaces so it was nice and quiet. I had the soft polenta with salsify and a wild mushroom fricassee and it was the best thing I have tasted for a long time. I couldn't decide what to have for desert so our waiter suggested he surprise me. I was given the treacle tart which was just like the ones my Mum used to make when I was a child, delicious.

We had excellent food here. I recommend the chicken, chorizo and leek pie served with creamy mash potato and cabbage. My husband had a ribeye steak with Teatro fries as a side, which were delicious. We had the apple tarte tatin with ice cream to share. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Great place to eat. Would definitely visit here again.

Excellent meal and fabulous service. We eat in the bar area with the Dog! Thank you your kindness to our Dog. Lovely friendly staff.

A delicately decorated bar with a waitress who kindly directed me to find the national express station as I was lost that day, and allow me to charge my phone in the restaurant. Wonderful, ordered my Porto :)

Four of us went for dinner before the theatre and had a superb meal, very tasty and well presented. Our lovely waitress looked after us extremely well, everything was spot on. Well worth it and so convenient for the Barn Theatre.

We had Sunday lunch, the fish, cod, was good and the starters were also fine however the main course of pork belly wasn’t great: the pork was dry, the roast potatoes, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding were over-roasted and tough.

The staff had a lovely greeting when we arrived. There was a mix up with drinks and the driver of our party ended up with a gin Martini with soda water which wasn't ordered, it shouldn't have had gin in it. The non driver had tonic water. We were given another gin martini.. But it was still all wrong.... We ordered the Sunday roast. Pork was nice but no apple sauce and the beef was hard to cut and chew. The selection of food was lovely, but raw garlic through the greens was a bit much for my party... Sorry ... Alot of mistakes I think which let the place down 😟...

Don’t know about food, service or atmosphere but I can tell you at 22.15 in a road nearby it’s rubbish in terms of loud music. Been the same all summer and never stops at the advertised and legal time. Misery for locals.

Excellent meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Particularly enjoyed an after dinner drink in the bar with the pianist!

Fabulous place ,wonderful food with a very good menu choice ,very attentive staff ,fine selection of alcohol and non alcohol beverages, nice seating outside and the decor inside very tastefully done .lovely atmosphere and greeted with a smile by staff .

Every time we eat here we are absolutely thrilled with the menu choices and quality of the food and service. Our 4th visit and we will be back. Every dish was delicious. I loved the fish choices. And the desserts .... I could have chosen all of them! Plus the happy hour for cocktails was a lovely surprise! A special shout out to Archie our server who was brilliant. He listened to our questions and if he didn't know the answer was happy to go and check with the staff/kitchen. Archie was friendly and patient with us as we took our time choosing what to actually order (too much choice!). And there was no rush for us to leave the table once we had finished eating. Thank you for having us. Looking forward to visiting again.

Great food& Drinks , live band , what more could you ask for

Perfect spot for pre theatre dining. Nice decor, friendly staff and the food was very tasty with delicious mocktails. Protected walkway from restaurant to theatre, which was ideal for the wet and blustery day on which we visited.

I’m not sure if words can describe tonight - from initially making the reservation, to the service and accommodation of making our evening so special, I can’t say thank you enough. Alex, I really hope that Téatro know how much of an integral part you are to the team. My partners birthday meal wouldn’t have happened without your enthusiasm and hospitable nature. Feel incredibly lucky to have been able to organise something like this. The food and drinks were incredible! Thank you so so much again!!

Probably worst Sunday lunch out we’ve had in years. Both me and my wife spent all afternoon and night with terrible sickness..

I must say it feels like the menu has been really dumbed down yet the price point remains the same, we used to go to Teatro quite often for the simple fact it was possibly the nicest sit down meal in Cirencester, however after visiting this evening it feels totally different, far more casual dining food than the previous sophisticated menu, can’t say we’ll rush back this time round.

Wonderful atmosphere created by lovely warm staff, excellent range of cocktails coupled with a short but sweet menu (price's very good). Certainly recommend and will definitely return.

What a lovely place to visit! The food was amazing we had the lamb, chicken, brisket burger and the meezze and it was all delicious. The staff are are very friendly and the setting is very good. The live piano music is fantastic aswell definitely will be returning here soon! 10/10

Came here for food and cocktails both were delicious! The atmosphere was great there was a live pianist who was really good, great to have amazing live music with amazing food. The staff are very friendly and went iut of there way to make sure we had a good time.

What service! My husband is in a wheelchair but whilst we were having dinner the platform lift, which would take him and the chair back up the steep steps outside, broke down. Three members of staff lifted his wheel chair with him separately up the steps. No easy job I can assure you. They did it with efficiency and with huge apologies. There were 3 of us having dinner and everyone's meal was absolutely delicious. The managers suggestion for red wine was excellent and although we were more than happy to pay for our meal, the manager was insistent that it should be free to make up for the hassle of the lift. I cannot rate the service, food, wine and ambience highly enough.

The food was great although the decor doesn't make sense at all. First we were sat in a dark quiet room (couldn't read the menu) and then after we moved, the waitress constantly banged her head on the lights every time she came over because they were too low for that room. Amazing food but terrible ambience!

Best Birthday drinks. Whole evening was gorgeous and every one that I invited loved it.

A year ago, I gave 5 stars. Now I just give one. New chef, new staff, new menu and everything went downhill. Half of the items on the menu not available (like the French Fries?). The ones that were available were bland or badly cooked/prepared. They also still charge 12.5% service charge. Why? All far too expensive for what they offer. Great shame. By the way, no more cheese souffle.

Fabulous meal here tonight for Mother in law's birthday. Great surroundings, lovely staff. Varied selection on the menu and good range of alcohol and wines. Lovely garden to enjoy as the weather improves. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion..

We had dinner here last night, we were informed on arrival that there was a big party so food would be slower than usual. However the service was excellent and the food was delicious, I had the fillet steak which was absolutely amazing There was a live singer and a really good atmosphere I'd highly recommend!

Yet again an outstanding meal, this restaurant never fails to deliver on breakfasts, lunch or evening meal, every mouthful delicious. We were a party of 5 had a room to ourselves so felt very safe in these covid days. Sol looked after our every need, friendly and professional thank you. The truffle chips are to die for!

As we were a group of eight, it was necessary to pre-order our food. That was perfectly understandable. However, most of what we ordered was either unavailable or sold out! We had a great evening but that did cast a cloud over the celebration.

First visit and not disappointed, absolutely delicious incredible food with good menu choice. lovely relaxed atmosphere and friendly polite staff, not a stuffy place, a really nice place. We will be returning.

Either we got lucky, or Teatro is a Cirencester gem! The food was delicious, ambience perfect, and service impeccable. Slightly on the higher end when it comes to price, but worth every penny. Go for the duck breast and you won’t be disappointed.

Restaurant, good food and service. A local car park is immediately opposite with free parking in the evening / overnight. Have been there before and will go again.

Excellent welcome, amazing food, shared a twice baked soufflé - really superb! We both had a vegetarian main for a change, wonderful creamy aubergine and lovely delicate pasta. Wines very good. Would highly recommend and intend to return on our next visit to Cirencester.

An evening of superb, food, cocktails and service. Can't recommend teatro enough. A delicious menu with dishes that go way beyond their description. A feast for the eyes and a gastronomic delight. A burger isn't just a burger, the pork isn't just a chop. We made the most of the recommended drinks to go with our meal. For someone who always panics when reading a wine list, teatro had it covered! 5***** You have to go!

Lovely restaurant and bar. We had great food served by Tuesdsy, she was fantastic. We then stayed for a drink or two for the love music. What a lovely evening we had.
