Sadly food wasn't up to Scratch. No chicken. No much on Menu to choose from for roast lunch. Sadly won't be coming back. Plus parking is a downfall.

Amazing lunch, good beers and a special note to the kindness of our waitress. The place is cozy and elegant at the same time, they also have a private parking.

Amazing! Probably the best value pub roast I’ve had. Pork was so soft and the portions were great. Could of done with one or two more potatoes though.

We have just left after a very disappointing meal, we had been recommended to try “the pig” and so booked a table at the pub, as we wanted to meet with friends for Sunday lunch. The location is good, ambiance and feel too, but the food very disappointing. We all had roast beef for lunch, it was very tough, very fatty and overall very disappointing.

A meal to celebrate two birthdays was a real disappointment here. Having heard great things about 'The Pig' we thought we'd give their newly-opened pub a go and now wish that we hadn't bothered.... I'm the first to celebrate great food, service, ambience or produce but sadly none of those were on offer here and it really does pain me to say that. With the brand and investment access that the chain has, I can only imagine that the limitation here is the staff). Despite booking 6 months out, we were ushered through a half empty front section to a back room where the two of us occupied a table for four next to the kitchen door and a dog bowl. No ambience, open fires or comfortable seating like the main space. When we asked if other options were available we were told that there weren't any, yet when the next table to come in refused to sit in the back section, a table in the front section was found for them. This happened twice and is offensive. Service was slow and delivered by inexperienced staff with little knowledge of the menu and in some cases a rather rude and curt approach. The menu was simple and didn't offer a good food or drink selection. When we ordered the plaice dish, we were told that they were out and that it had been substituted for 'ray wing' which is a substantially cheaper cut of fish and proved to be a poor decision. The image attached to my review is the mince pie and cheese (£12) dessert. Nothing was supplied to accompany the cheese, other than the mince pie and when I asked for a few crackers, some oat biscuits arrived but no chutney or anything else to accompany all the dryness (figs, grapes, quince jelly). In summary, we had a really disappointing evening at The Village Pub which seemed to be reflected in the experiences of those around us who were also visibly having issues. Sadly, it was also consistent with feedback from a family member's experience. I wouldn't recommend The Village Pub.

Early dinner, best to reserve a table, which we done, the ser ice was excellent, sat in a cozy nook beside an open fire celebrating our wedding anniversary, ideal. Good spread of options on the menu, with daily specials available. Chose haddock fishcake, with peas and broadbeans, plaice with triple cut chips, the sweet we chose to share of apple and blackberry crumble with custard to be honest, it lacked a good crumble top, The custard didn't arrive with the crumble until requesting for it. With a couple of drinks + 12.5% service charge £80 may be considered on the high side for some, in a pub, but this is the cotswolds, staff were great apart from left not knowing what the right hand were doing with the custard.

We had a two night stay and had the most magical weekend - despite the rain. Our room was cosy and clean with impeccable attention to detail. Whilst the Pub team are an absolute dream, attentive, engaging and fun! The Food is delicious and the drinks were great. Wonderful recommendations were made, we had the best time and cannot wait to return! Thank you to everybody who looked after us.

Our Christmas Day meal 🎄 (not on Christmas day) The setting and food were spot on. Just the festive, cosy vibes we were after. It's a shame the service was appalling, from the moment we walked in the door. I'm not sure if they were short staffed (although it wasn't overly busy) or just had a few newbies working, but it definitely tainted our visit. Such a shame, as the Wellington really did live up to expectations 👌 The order: Scotch egg - £7 Scampi - £12 Stokes Marsh Beef Burger - £18 Beef Wellington with greens and truffle mash - £70 (serves two) 📅 Visited in December 2023

So sad that this amazing successful personal pub is closing in two weeks and being taken over by an investment capital firm and turned into a chain. Poor staff! :(

Ate at the chippy day ago, food was o.k.nothing special had beekstake pie, very dry and not much filling, cod bites were good, again expensive as with everywhere it’s just profiteering, didn’t leave a tip which we don’t think went down very well, unfortunately won’t be returning.

A gem of a pub found in a lovely Cotswolds hamlet. Our party of 4 were fortunate enough to be able to choose from the newly rolled out menu. We each ordered different dishes and they were all first class. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, but not overly so. There was a relaxed, convivial atmosphere and for the quality of the food, the prices were very reasonable indeed. We will definitely be going back.
