Good food, good prices and patient, friendly service

Located in one of the GoTo spots of Oxford - The Covered Market.. Always wanted to try Sourdough bread and Taylors made me love it.. Sandwiches were out in display with variety of options, being an Indian went for the Spicy Chicken option and it was top notch, wifey tried the Veg Pesto sandwich which dint disappoint either. Surely a must try place to get nice hot stuffing Sandwiches which is pocket friendly too.. Y-Y

I popped into the Covered Market and was drawn into Taylor’s by the food in the window display; I went in had a coffee and some food which was all amazing. The seating area and background music made it a relaxing time and I would highly recommend anyone passing to try.

They are not attentive to tourists.

The sandwiches looked appealing, and tasted OK, but £6.50 for what was mostly bread was not good value. I'll stick to the Alternative Tuck Shop in future.

The Covered Market is 250 years old (as of this writing), and I can see why it is so timeless. Taylors has great sandwiches and pastas. Liked my fusilli pasta with tomato sauce. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient. Would recommend for a visit in Oxford.

For the last year I have been coming into the store and now as I am leaving Oxford I would like to thank the wonderful staff who are always friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for good food and coffee you are in the right place.

Good service, but had maybe the worst samosa of my life. Was heated but was so soggy and the meat was a bit scary looking and tastes funny. Staff were nice but steer clear of the samosas had the lamb and chicken both awful....

Great sandwiches and service, recommend for a quick breakfast

I was in a hurry as I had a train to catch and I had to grab a sandwich. This seemed as the most healthily viable option for me to buy at that point of time. I got their "chicken, basil, and pesto sourdough bread sandwich". It was a takeaway & was simply brilliant. Utterly bloody scrumptious. Thank you guys. It cost me around 6.10 £. Nevertheless, the quality of ingredients were top notch.

Good cup of tea and sandwich. Enjoyed it. Plenty of other Taylor's around Oxford. Never far from one.

Almost every time I visit Oxford I stop in here for coffee and cake! Great atmosphere and food and location!

Truly excellent toasted Flatbread sandwiches. I had the Salmon, Cream cheese and Horseradish on Sourdough flatbread. Probably the best roasted sandwich I’ve had. My wife was equally impressed with her sandwich too. Fast, lots of choice and fairly priced for a great light lunch.

My favourite place for quick lunch in Oxford. Food is great, lovely Illy coffee, but what makes this place so special is the staff. The manager is always smiling and so friendly and this clearly rubs off on everyone around her, as they're all so, so friendly. Love the flatbread sandwiches - perfect lunch and good for people watching in the covered market.

Excellent and personal greeting by Manager, Geo. All staff genuinely smiling while going about their work with very efficient service. Great atmosphere. A real gem in Oxford's famous Covered Marker. Highly recommend a visit.

Very nice staff but I paid £7 for this salad… £8 if you want to ‘dine in’ i.e. crouch in the tiny space by the window. Just opened it and I have a handful of salad, 1.5 (? Seriously?!) falafel and a teaspoon of hummus. Total rip off!!

Best place in Oxford to relax and enjoy a relaxing day. Food/coffee excellent, staff are friendly and welcoming.

Tried their pesto pasta, but it was so disappointing. Lacked flavour and the pesto was just not enough! And even how they advertise about making your pasta, is not how it sounds like. And the quantity was also not enough for 5 pounds.

So badly organised, 1 option for gf savoury 😐. The queue was out the door but no organisation inside so nobody knew what was happening ! Sandwiches flavourless very disappointing.

Taylors has very decent sandwiches, brownies and coffees. The branch in the Covered Market is a pleasant place to eat and people-watch. On the downside, the place can get very busy, and it seems they need more staff. There are times when dirty dishes are piling up and the surfaces are not cleaned as much as is necessary.

Transcendence in a sandwich is not going too far to describe what I ate. I am still thinking about its various textures and tastes that moved me so fully it is hard to put it into words, but although hard I will try. It was as if I myself was the bread dough slowly being cooked in the warmest of ovens, then whisked away to a far off land as the true reality of a well made coronation chicken set in. And although a republican this sandwich is by far the best argument for a royal family that has every been formulated. as if I shall be back as soon

Inviting and cozy cafe for a quick lunch in Oxford. I had a delicious warm sandwich that was so filling and fresh. About 100x better than anything you can get at pret etc and not really any more expensive so it’s kind of a no brainer. Also had an AMAZING millionaire shortbread!!

It is an adorable little cafe with super friendly staff that are always willing to chat. The staff are so welcoming and lovely. The food is made freshly each morning and is a great place to grab lunch. One time I had the Bacon, Brie and Cranberry focaccia and it was a god send. The flavourings are complementary and the brie just melted in your mouth (the focaccia is heated up). I have been multiple times to this company due to the amazing food and staff. The vegetarian breakfast bap is also delicious and that very berry muffin has a gooey inside 🤤. Couldn’t recommend this place enough - they also do adorable latte art!

Have been vegetarian for 10 years and after ordering a pesto mozzerella and tomato flat bread I got given one with meat in it. I looked at it before biting it and couldn’t see any obvious looking meat and it looked like my order but it was not. I am devastated and extremely upset as meat eating goes against my personal values and have not consumed it in 10 years. I went back and was not immediately offered a replacement or refund and had to request both, I know mistakes happen but this is so not on.

Great fast service. The flat bread used on the sandwiches was soft on the inside and toasted crisp on the outside.

A great, fast and reasonably priced lunch at Taylor’s - the paninis and toasted focaccia were tasty, and I was impressed by the flat white. The staff were friendly too!

Absolutely lovely team of people with great food, helpful service and very patient with customers. We had 2 superb filled focaccia and took the leftovers away with us for a snack later that day.

Side order of guilt. Sat in especially so that we would not get takeaway rubbish....but nothing was said to me and all food came in bags and drinks in takeaway cups. When I said my piece as I think it's important to share why I chose to sat down, the waitress was defensive whilst at the same time agreeing.... So all in all, not great. I'm allowed to say my views and it's OK to stick up for the environmentfood fine but guilt made it not ok

I am a student here in Oxford, Taylor’s in the covered market is the best cafe I know for finishing assignments and eating good food. The staff here are incredibly friendly they have always taken the time out of their busy day to ask how I am, unlike other cafes this one makes a personal connection with its customers giving a exceptionally sublime experience. Good coffee, good food, good vibes, would highly recommend to everyone.

A decent place to chill in the covered market. An okay flat white and an okay lamb samosa.

Very nice cafe. The shop was busy but the service was quick and nice staff. I past by during my visit into oxford and enjoyed my flat white and spicy chicken melt. Will be returning soon and highly recommend

So the place itself looks cute, and at first glance you'd think there's a lot of options available, seeing all the sandwiches out on display. But when I tried ordering today I got told that the machine to warm up the sandwiches was broken, which is fair enough, so I asked to just have them cold. Then I got told I couldn't have them cold because they're already half cooked (?) even though a minute earlier I thought I had established with the person at the till that I could have the sandwich cold. The server was really unclear with this explanation. At this point I wondered why on earth they'd leave the sandwiches out on display then, if customers can't have any (whether hot or cold) because the machine is broken. I didn't bother asking though because I'd gone round enough circles at this point and I just wanted something to eat. So I got a vegetable samosa instead and a brownie (not a great combo but it was the only available substitute for a sandwich). The former was fine, but the latter was very hard, maybe stale, and I struggled to cut it when I tried to eat it. Additionally it tasted really weird, more like cheese than brownie, inexplicably. Both my friends agreed that it tasted bad and cheesy. I couldn't eat more than 2 bites. That cost me £6.60 in total, including an "eating-in" charge, absolutely not worth it. I might come here again sometime to see if the sandwich machine is fixed and I can try one, but I won't be having a dessert again at the very least. Overall, I don't recommend this place.

Taylors is an Oxford institution and a great place for a more expensive sandwich/pasta lunch. The pasta is great, I'm just gutted they got rid of the best option on the menu - sun dried tomato pesto pasta.

Taylor's cafe is inside the famous Covered Market in Oxford. Had a small cappuccino (too much froth and too little coffee) and a warm brie and bacon focaccia (just right). There's a coffee menu on the wall. Inside is roomy with few tables, chairs and high stools. Food presentation was excellent I thought with the sandwiches all looking inviting. Happy staff, fast service. Order and pay first.

Hot chocolate was warm not hot. Had to finish it quickly.

Visited Taylors covered market as I'm new to town and have heard the pasta is really nice. I asked the woman at the till what pastas they have available as I couldn't see any under the counter, and she looked at me like I was the most stupid person she'd met in my life, didn't say a word, and pointed to the pasta menu on the wall. She did the same to my friend when they asked about vegan options (there were none, which is quite surprising in a student city). Anyway, we left that place quickly. Not sure what the need was to be so rude to new customers.

Absolutely amazing, pasta was cooked to perfection, staff were extremely polite and helpful, this is my new favourite place to eat! Can not recommend this place enough, if you havent tried before - you need to! :)

Visited recently and the food was great, the service was quick and attentive and the staff were so nice.

Nice cafe but shame that you don't use veggie pesto in your cheese flatbreads thus making them unsuitable for vegetarians! (Non-vegetarian pesto contains cheese made from animal rennet) You can get vegetarian pesto very easily, tastes the same and it would then make this a nice option for veggies (M and S, Costa, Waitrose etc use veggie pesto in their sandwich products to make them also suitable for vegetarians)

Superb sourdough flatbread with salmon and cream cheese. Friendly service. Highly recommended.

Always worth visiting the covered market in Oxford and you may well need a sit down after walking to it via college after college after the library. The coffee is fine the fans make it cool and it's usually not packed.

Very shocked at the poor reviews.I thought the food was excellent. Bread and fillings all very fresh.

Needed lunch today so headed to the Covered Market for a nice cafe. Came across Taylors of Oxford in here and loved their selection in the window. Staff were nice, polite, and efficient and the sandwiches we ordered were lovely. The cafe itself has indoor and "outdoor" (within the market itself) seating. The cafe has a nice ambience and we'll definitely visit again.

I tried their pasta and it was not good. The pasta was soggy and broken and the pasta sauce was very oily. The place has nice vibes, they can work on the recipes a bit though. The staff was really polite and welcoming.

Can't understand why the reviews are 3.6?!? Went in today and had a great lunch with our two kids. The food arrived so quickly we thought they'd made a mistake to start with. The staff are so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Would highly recommend as they're not like your normal high street dullards. Also, coffee was superb 👌

Nice cafe, great location but "fresh" fruit smoothie is actually a frozen pre-packed affair so the description is misleading.

Everytime I've visited Oxford, I've come here and ordered a large bowl of pesto pasta. Not only is service extremely fast, but no other pesto pasta can compare to this one. Worth visiting for said dish alone.

Disappointing tourist trap. Plays on its location. Dry , stale, tasteless flapjack and muffin. Tea sieved with milk already added prior to tea bag ,so not well brewed. Cappuccino all froth. Staff were friendly and food presented well.

Volví a caminar y el chico se ofreció a hacer otro pero se negó a devolverme el dinero por las molestias / vergüenza, así que esperé nuevamente y volví a trabajar con otro rollo y volví a trabajar y una vez más el moño tenía moho azul así que tuve que volver DE NUEVO para quejarme y esta vez logré recuperar mi dinero de la mujer que creo que es el gerente, pero que nunca volveré, la comida está mohosa y el primer tipo con el que hablé fue grosero. Bought a bacon roll from here took it back to work to find mould on the roll and took it back where they made another but refused to give me a refund.Got that one back to work to find that one also had a mouldy bun.Went back a 3rd time where I eventually got my money back and one mould free

Food was nice but a bit on the pricey side, we were lucky that we managed to get seats inside the tiny seating area. Lots and lots of queueing, as the single cashier would relay the order to the couple of staff members at the back. We had to queue twice as we wanted to add something to our order, the queue actually took up a lot of the space inside the restaurant.

This was so disappointing. The coffee was not that hot and the cake rather dry. Service was average. Went because I had a birthday voucher to use....but will not be going back again!

It’s a decent breakfast but nothing amazing too as well. But the environment and service is good so I’m giving a 3-star. You can visit if you just want a normal breakfast.

Went to Taylors in the covered market and enjoyed a large pasta bowl for a good price. The food came out quickly but the ‘chicken and chorizo’ that I had selected was not very plentiful which was disappointing.

My partner and I visited Taylor’s on a not so busy Saturday morning. Quite expensive, £4.20 for a slice of pecan pie. We waited 20 minutes for our coffee I had to go remind the guy behind the counter that we existed. When coffee came it was half froth (not what you expect for a mocha). Mocha didn’t taste like coffee or chocolate. Definitely won’t be returning.

Popped in for coffee, tea and cakes post Italian meal. Spreading the wealth. Lovely selection of cakes and coffee and teas.Ordered in good timereceived the drinks but had to chase at the counter for the cakes.Shame that you have to pay before you are served. Food and drink was good

We popped in here for a coffee after wandering the streets of London with a 6 month-old child and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The chap on the door was incredibly friendly, and didn't seem to mind at all that I was gasping and wheezing like a sweaty set of bellows, just having run as I had from Next in the Westgate centre after the world's most protracted attempt to purchase a sofa (involving as it did three members of staff, two computers, a trip back to the car, and at least 20 sheets of paper).Most worthy of note is the free cookie you get with a coffee or a tea - a really lovely touch. The tea was excellent too. Well worth stopping by for!

My family often comes here now for breakfast on Saturdays after giving up on the Brothers Cafe opposite - who have clearly changed hands - and gotten off worse. The service was great - we were in and out within 30 minutes! - and the food was great - well cooked and the toast was not too buttery. The staff were friendly and clearly enjoyed their job.

Good plant-based latte and a great selection of snacks. However, we really didn't like the seating area which was definitely too tiny to be even called like this at all.

We had Italian flatbread stuffed with ham, mozzarella and pesto, a caramel flapjack and excellent coffee. The service was slick and professional. Just what we needed.

Leggermente piu' costoso di quello che dovrebbe essere.

I noticed this place in the covered market and decided to try it for a coffee. The member of staff was very efficient and my order was delivered fairly promptly. The illy coffee was very nice and the price was what I would expect to pay. May try some food next time.

Horrible experience. Full English Breakfast was one of the worst I had in my life. Cold, tasteless, an egg wasn't runny - looked like hard-boiled. Even grilled tomato looked like mushed tomato. The chef hasn't got any idea about cooking. Seriously, if you really want to have nice breakfast or lunch go anywhere else. Staff was miserable as well. Avoid!

A bacon and egg bap and a latte. I asked for the bacon crispy and it was taken too far and was burned. Other than this it was good. Pleasant staff and environment. Good coffee

Great staff and atmosphere. Sweet potato, coconut and coriander soup was delicious. Throughly recommend Taylors.

The service was great the staff are very welcoming they recommend the soup and it was very lovely. Definitely would recommend if you need a quick bite or a nice coffee.

The pasta to go there was incredible, we even came back here the next day because we liked it so much. It's also a lovely little cafe to sit in. The only thing letting this place down was that (same as the other reviews) the staff seemed unhappy and came across as quite unfriendly which wasn't very nice!

Miserable staff and slow service

Staff weren’t very friendly or enthusiastic just seemed to prefer talking to other staff than taking people’s orders. But the food was amazing and would highly recommend the smoothies! They have the best smoothies ever!

We were one of the few in and treated to good service and a well cooked English Breakfast with our coffees which didn’t take long to arrive.

Very disappointing. Disorganised. A nice flatbread but my family’s breakfast baps were very poor. And it was all served (eating in) on plastic film on top of cardboard trays. The plastic is unnecessary and the cardboard, which should be recycled (it was clean), was chucked in the bin. Shabby and irresponsible. Avoid.

Coffee arrived with a hair in the cup. Replacement was disgusting. Ordered a separate latte with vanilla shot that arrived with no vanilla. Don't waste your money here, go somewhere better
