We used to say that there’s no such thing as a bad McDonald’s. Today I ate my words. And also some terribly musty tasting chicken nuggets that had batter 3inches thick. It srsly feels like this McDonald’s are separate to every other McDonald’s and just do their own thing; spolier: it’s not good

The Ladies toilets on the Northbound side of the Services are disgusting!...they are dirty and stink of urine...I have never seen them like this and use these facilities every few months...needs a new cleaner@

Easy entrance and exit from the motorway. Service in Costa was good. Toilets in the main building were nice and clean. Nice outdoor seating area if the sun is shining. Costa, McDonalds, WHSmith. Also a stall outside for coffee/pastries

The ladies toilets are filthy and an assault on the senses. They smelt of pee, the sanitary bins are over flowing with soiled items hanging out or on top. The top of my cubicle door had cobwebs and was covered in thick dust, never seen that before at services. It was a disgusting experience and something that could be easily rectified.

We have used these services many times in the past as in our view, they were better than other services. However on this visit, we were immediately annoyed by the huge potholes as you drive into the car park - you can’t see these properly on arrival, and can’t easily avoid them either. From reading other reviews, this has been the case for at least the past two months. This indicates that management are not bothered about maintaining the road surfaces adequately, which brings risk to customers. Costa was shut and completely locked up at 7pm, which was a disappointment. Gave the impression that staff want to leave early and custom isn’t welcomed. No staff serving in WHSmiths. Poor choice of refreshments. Toilets were in poor condition - several cubicles out of use, rubbish quality toilet paper, general unpleasant smells, dirty toilets and no evidence of any cleaning whatsoever. A very basic offering. I felt grimy just being there and do not wish to return!

(this review is for the Southbound Services, i couldn’t find it on TripAdvisor) we have stopped at Taunton Deane once before on our way to Cornwall and it was very good, so we thought we’d see if it was as good as last time. the service station has an overly large car park, i couldn’t see this becoming full. not many food outlets on offer. McDonalds, Fresh Food Café, Costa & Costa Drive Thru. we’ve only used the McDonalds and Costa, the McDonalds is standard, nothing exciting. the costa is ok, expensive but good. there is also a shell garage, very expensive but it is a service station. toilets weren’t bad but could be cleaned more. with my 2 stops at Taunton Deane, i’d definitely recommend to people on the M5 needing a place to stop.

No EV charging spaces - all out of use and boarded up so although it states Gridserve is there do not rely on it as a place to charge.

All facilities were clean and presentable, and in working order, there are restaurants and a shop, and it was very busy.

We called into this northbound service station on 14th June to use the disabled toilets and, quite frankly, they were disgusting. I note similiar comments were made by previous reviewers buit management clearly don't care as nothing has been done to remedy the situation. The first toilet we entered had toilet paper everywhere over the floor and was in such a terrible state that we couldn't face using it. We then used the 'changing places' disabled toilet which at least was a little cleaner BUT there was no toilet paper and no soap in the dispenser !! Who is responsible for checking these toilets ? It doesn't appear anyone is and management should hang their heads in shame at the facilities they provide. Really awful.

My husband and I stopped at this service station yesterday, 10/06/24. We were travelling home to Devon, so it’s the south bound services. We wanted a drink and to use the toilets. I went to the ladies toilets and 5 out of 6 cubicles I looked at were filthy. Not just toilet roll on the floor but toilets were in a disgusting state. I heard 3 or 4 other women commenting on the cleanliness of the cubicles and toilets and telling people not to use them. When I came out into the main hall I saw 3 men chatting, they looked like management, so I politely interrupted them asking if they were indeed so. One answered yes, another walked away and the 3rd stayed put. I reported the lack of hygiene to the manager whose initial response was, “is it toilet paper on the floor? We’ve recently change the supplier and it is not flushing away well!” I repeated my complaint and his response was to say he would go and inspect them himself once he finished his conversation. Now, I’m assuming that he did. The toilet paper is thin and not fit for purpose. If you know it’s not good - change it. If the facilities remain in a disgustingly bad way they are a serious health issue. We are not inclined to use these services again.

Members of staff have a dislike towards me and so when I tried to use my family and friends discount card, a huge fuss was made causing an argument and so ruining my holiday. In retaliation to this a hair was put in my burger. This sort of treatment is entirely unprofessional and I hope the whole management will be replaced with staff who are fair and live up to the standards they claim to provide.

Never again!!! Toilets awful,dirty and no sign of anyone to complain to. Costa Coffee Forget it,It was 6 50 and told gruffly to use the machines in WH Smith. Oops they forget to say they do not do any hot drink decafinated. Even the hot chocolate was not working McDonald's I don't like at the best of times as it was the onlychoice of food everything else closed. So left hungry and with a bottle of water Never will use this as a stop off point again

Filthy toilets again. We normally stop for something to eat and toilets but this will be the last time. People who prepare food have to use the same stinky toilets on offer to us so we will look for another M5 service station to stop at in future

Ideal for a quick bite to eat and drink while you re-energise yourself after a long drive. Plenty of parking for 2 hours free of charge and enough choice for even the fussiest eater.

OK facilities. Costa being refurbed... Conservatory and a large grassed area but in reality it's a giant dogs toilet which smalls horrid in hot weather.

Awful!! Taunton Deane dri thru north bound. Supposed to close at 6pm. Got there at 5.50pm behind another car and one behind us also. Starting taking our orders and the girl then said 'my manager has told me to close. You can get coffee in the main building' dreadful customer service. Turning business away!! If you don't want the business and decide to close early why don't you turn the open sign off, so people wouldn't waste their time coming off the motorway to do through a drive thru that doesn't wish to provide coffee!!

Toilets were a disgrace and considering the number of people using them…. A constant stream….there should have been a cleaning attendant permanently there! Soap pumps in men’s not working and toilets in ladies not clean! The extra star was given for the Costa which has had an upgrade since we were last there and it is an improvement. Nicely decorated and more comfy chairs. Seem to be more staff and a lady cleaning and clearing tables.

Toilets and basins filthy, looked as if they hadn't been cleaned for many days. I assumed they would be cleaned every couple of hours. Breakfast ok at McDonald's.

Quick and easy to order food, clean toilets and clean in general would stop here again in the future.

9.30 today, 10th May Worst services I have ever been in. Dirty toilets, eating area that was closed to the public but in full view, dirty with liquid and mess on the floor. Staff in Costa very friendly but the table we had was sticky round the edges and can't have had a proper clean in ages. The whole place felt cold and soul less. Never again !

Place is a dump. Garbage everywhere, all over the car park, paths, bushes, etc. Bins overflowing. This was first thing in the morning. Didn’t stop to buy anything; just a horrible place.

Visited today and have to say these are one of the better services. Although only small it was very clean well laid out for covid and you have a choice of a couple of places to eat and drink.

Stopped here today. Good to see everyone wearing masks. Track and trace instructions on each table in Costa. Staff reminded us to do this. Not sure how they ensure everyone completes their information. Toilets clean. Very quiet when we arrived about 8am. Chai lattes in Costa were hot and spicy. Tuna melt and ham and cheese toastie were nice. Did not see anyone cleaning tables even after people had used the table and left. Consequently I disinfected our table before use with disinfectant and anti bacterial wipes. Not one of the best services I prefer the ones with Marks and Spencer and Greggs. These ones always seem to be a little more upmarket.

Very average, and pretty small. We visited 28 08 20 and on that day they had a real Wasp problem. Overall we there was plenty of parking and the prices weren’t too bad.

Had a coffee there yesterday after a bad day in retail during all the uncertainty about Covid-19, and the general nastiness of some customers to retail staff. The two ladies who I met around 1415-ish were wonderful, understanding and lovely, they cheered me up no end. Thank you ladies very much, and take care of yourselves during this difficult period.

Weather was shocking so we pulled in to here for a quick cheap bite to eat. It was cheap...It was fairly quick although I think it was the slowest McDonald's ever!Toilets were clean and tidy with plenty of car parking. Fuel prices through the roof though.

The Costa is lovely and big and had lots of choice. The staff were extremely friendly and smiley. A good place to stop when on the road. However if you went to the Costa you would have to go into the main building to use the toilets. But the services wasn’t busy so was quiet and calm.

If you need a comfort break the southbound services are as reasonable a place to stop as you get on the motorways. They have the usual shops and cafes ( Roadchef McDonald’s,W H Smith, Costas Coffee, Pastie ship etc) all at the usual high prices. The toilets were in very good condition, although it was crowded there were enough seats to go round.

Place is obvioulsy trying to step up in quality (from a low place). Decent choice of food places but prices are getting worse than an airport. Got a McDonalds meal for the price of the bacon sandwich in the other outlet. It was relatively quick, correct and hot. Well, as hot as it gets from there.It's all ok, but for the time it takes to come off the motorway into taunton it would be cheaper to eat there with much more choice.

As recent converts to McDonalds, we were looking forward to breaking our drive at Taunton Deane. Major disappointment. Food tepid and had clearly been left standing for a long time - beef patty dried out at the edges. This is actually a health hazard and should never happen. Avoid.

Heading back to Cornwall we stopped here for a comfort break and a decision as to what to eat. My wife chose McDonald's and we headed for the till. Ordering two quarters with cheese and fries and an ice coffee I said I would grab some tomato sauce, napkins and find a table. There was a guy cleaning the station so I went instead to find a table. It was fairly quiet but I had to dismiss the first two tables as they were so dirty.Seeing the guy had finished cleaning the station I returned to get the tomato sauce only to find it empty. After a good 10 minute wait my wife arrived with the food. Our burgers were less than luke warm and dry. I only had two bites and threw the rest in the bin. Asking why there was no tomato sauce I advised there isn't any. My wife went to a second station only to find that empty too.I should have complained but we were in a rush to get back on the road.Management - PLEASE TRAIN YOUR STAFF

Sadly this McDonald’s really is poor. Very slow service, screens to show progress of orders not working; staff having to shout out order very loudly! Seating area dirty, spilled food not cleared, bins overflowing, food when it arrived not hot enough, fries cold, only good thing was the coffee! Have eaten here in the past and though I waited a while for it the quality was OK, so things have gone downhill. It unfortunately gives the ‘good’ McDonald’s a bad name.

Grotesque relocation of car parks. Extremely weird and very very inconvenient for car drivers! Horrible and unpleasant atmosphere, do not stop here if you are a car driver and want to be able to access the services.

We visited the southbound services for breakfast enroute to st ives. My daughter suffers with a dairy allergy which was advised upon ordering and we requested beans on toast with no butter. When I collected the breakfast, the toast was clearly buttered so I requested that it be changed. The servicer happily obliged and the breakfast then came out and I gave this to my daughter to eat. I then noticed halfway through my daughter eating her breakfast that they had clearly just turned the toast over so that the buttered side was not visible to us! This is disgusting behaviour and when i informed the manager, whilst I got an apology I don’t believe she understood the seriousness of this. Luckily my daughters allergy is not life threatening and it just caused some stomach discomfort but it could be for others. Some serious training is required here and I for one will never visit again!

Visited McDonald’s on southbound services. We had been here before but since modernisation the service has deteriorated very badly. Not sure we can visit here again.

We stopped at the southbound service station for a comfort break and my wife tried to visit the Ladies toilets but was told that they were flooded and would have to use the mens. There were queues of women waiting to use the cublicles in the mens and had to endure the site of watching men peeing in the urinals next to them. Rather than close off the urinals and only use the cublcles the attendants didn't seem bothered to expose the females to such an embarrassing experience. My wife commented that she was shocked and disgusted by the whole experience.

Not the cleanest services, need to improve their cleaning schedule to include behind the toilet doors (ladies) Odd way that you have to go around one way to get to McDonald's and out.

On an extremely busy bank holiday Monday, this wasn’t the best service area to visit! There was a Costa and McDonalds and the toilets were quite clean, but these services are nowhere near as nice as some of the service areas we had stopped at on our trip.

We stopped here to stretch our legs before reaching our destination of the day. Typical services, with high street brands, ideal for the quick stop or a more leisurely one.

This was an OK stop on the way back from Plymouth. A decent Costa coffee and also good pasties from the Cornish pasties stand. Toilets clean.

The car park is big and there is a wood area and grass bank where you and your dog's can stretch your legs.

This Costa at Taunton Deane was almost exactly half was on or regular trip to Birmingham and we always looked forward to our stop there as a small oasis of comfort and calm after a two hour plus drive. Over the last couple of years though it has been reorganised to cater for larger numbers and though it must be more profitable, we shall not be stopping there for long enough for a coffee in the future.

What can I say , when we visited it was clean and tidy as were the toilets. Ate at McDonald's and then bought some stuff from the shops .

Not as crowded or manic as some of the service areas on the M.5, which I appreciated. Excellent for coffee and a pit stop. Very good range of food, and ample seating.

Ticket machine fails to work at self serve. Frail adolescent behind the counter busy staring into space as opposed to dealing with multiple orders. Two new numbers appear on screen in 10 minutes.. Left food behind, awful service. Rather starve.

This restaurant is by far the friendliest and accommodating McDonald’s I have been to. I found the staff to be very pleasant polite and courteous. There is table service there and all the Managers are extremely accommodating.

Visited both sides of Taunton Deane services on occasions hoping it would improve. The worst McDonald's i've visited on either side. Service very slow - lack of cleaning - few self service screens working - collection point screens not working - condiment area not filled. Pointless complaining to McDonald's as a standard response received. It was excellent when it first opened on either side but that was when training was evident! Cullompton will be our stop off point in future.

Popped in for a bite to eat and toilet stop. Everywhere was very busy & lots of cars parked up. Food that we had was good. It was a well deserved stop.

Friday am and busy.. even though the school holiday is well past. Here South meets north and it’s always busy. However friendly staff and serval service isles to get you through as quickly as possible. However it’s a busy busy place so be prepared for 15-20 minutes at the best of times

Crowded, busy eateries with queues, adequate toilets - not many shops. Food very expensive - sandwiches 2x M&S; prices

Only needed a stop for a comfort break and a drink and it took fifteen minutes to get that take-away drink. Nothing wrong with the price or the quality, but the wait meant it had already started to melt so it had clearly been hanging about doing nothing for most of that time.

We stopped here during our journey for a break.
