A perfect getaway break in great surroundings. The pod we stayed in was exceptionally clean and comfortable with almost everything we needed. However, some outdoor furniture on the decking would have been appreciated as the weather was fabulous, even in September! The coffee table that sits under the TV would be better being replaced by a dining table of similar size but one that you could sit and enjoy a leisurely breakfast at or even a relaxed evening meal. A few more coats hooks in the bedroom would be beneficial as would over door hangers in the bathroom and boiler cupboard for coats. More shelves for toiletries in the bathroom wouldn't go a miss either, and finally a mirror in the bedroom is a must for us ladies. These are obviously our recommendations for a more luxurious stay but would definitely not put us off staying there again. Overall we loved it.

We were created by two of the most lovely, enthusiastic people who quickly made us feel very welcome. They then showed us the in and outs of sailing the barge in simple easy to understand guidance. We would highly recommend this experience so much so we are already looking at booking again.

This is one of those things we’d always wanted to do and I’m glad we chose Tattenhall Marina to hire a canal boat, from start to finish was a very easy and pleasurable experience, piloting the boat independently was so fun!

Had a great afternoon cruising on the Shropshire Union Canal. Our boat was the Endeavour and it fit 3 adults and 4 teens comfortably on board. There is a toilet, inside and outside seating , tea and coffee making facilities too. After a safety briefing amd instructions, we cruised out of the marina with the instructor's help, dropped him off on the towpath and continued on. We cruised for about an hour , then moored up for a quick packed lunch. We passed The Shady pub and shortly after that, turned in the special turning area before returning to moor at the pub and nip over the bridge for a quick drink. Took us about an hour or so to get back, all in all the trip was 3.5 hours. The whole experience was very relaxing , the canal boat owners we saw all seened very friendly as we passed. Most of us had a turn at the tiller and its quite simple , plus you can't exactly go fast. Not much phone signal which was great as the kids weren't glued to their phones either. Would definitely recommend hiring a boat , would be good fun to go with friends for a whole day too.

Absolutely super. Lovely location and great food and service. I was celebrating a special birthday (there were 10 of us) and even though some were delayed we were not rushed and could wait to order once we'd all arrived. Oliver was very friendly and we were hiring a boat after brunch so he served us at the cafe and tutored us on the boat. Would recommend on all fronts.

We hired a boat for the day as a group of friends and it was such a fun day out. Would highly recommend it and will definitely do it again. We were given a thorough introduction and handover and set off for a fantastic day out, even the dog enjoyed it. We were lucky with the weather and moored up for a picnic. We got to see tons of wildlife, from herons to dragonflies, we all had a brilliant day.

We went there yesterday to get a late breakfast/lunch and arrived just before 12 noon. When we entered there was no greeting or even acknowledgement of us coming in. Clearly we must have unknowingly must have slipped on our invisibility cloaks. We took a seat and saw that breakfast was only served up to 12, so decided to order quickly. The invisibility aspect was clearly still an issue as we were still being ignored by the staff. So at about 5 past the hour my wife sought out someone to speak to and was quickly refused service of breakfast, she then enquired about lunch and was told they weren’t going to be serving any. Only option was to leave and seek a better reception somewhere else, which was obviously not going to be too difficult. As we left at about 20 past the hour, a good supply of delicious looking full breakfasts were still being delivered to tables, quite a paradox. So, not a great impression of the place in terms of service and despite being local, it’s unlikely we will be bothering to venture in again. Poor service and no desire to be a little flexible despite causing the issue in the first place by ignoring us. Thanks very much.

We stopped as part of our canal boat trip on the way to Chester and it was so good we made a special trip back again on the return trip! The first time was for coffee and cake and the second for a full breakfast! Everything was absolutely superb! Freshly cooked and beautifully served breakfast with probably the best scrambled eggs ever! Cannot fauly the extremely friendly and efficient service. All in all. . . 10 out of 10!!! NOTE: If you are travelling by canal and want to enter the marina then fine, but if youre not confident actually berthing inside the marina (as we weren't!) then there are good mooring spots outside the marina itself. But the cafe is then not so easy to get to. If you stop on the moorings on the left before the entrance and then there's a small walkway/bridge almost hidden in the hedgerow about 100 yards back along the canal bank. This takes you into the marina. Otherwise its over a 5 bar gate! But believe me. . the effort is ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT!!

The food was gorgeous and the handmade mergine for desert was out of this world. Loved the weekend away it was very relaxing and for the money this is a bargain for what we got. Went for Sunday lunch and what a letdown. it wasn't busy in fact only a couple of tables, the staff three young ladies were great, very attentive, the real let down was the food it took ages to turn up then when it did, yuk what a let down hardly any meat on the plate, uncomplimented with 3 very small frozen roast potatoes that had clearly been quickly overcooked in an overheated chip fryer and the rest of the dinner, like the roast potatoes, appeared to of come directly from the local Makro freezer. Overall very disappointing.

Not the best place to Moor regarding security main entrance barrier left open all the time for anyone and everyone to access marina, advertising cctv this only covers office area The workshop is independent and has nothing to do with the marina so no self blacking along with any work on your boat so if the workshop can't fit you in your stuffed as you can't let anyone else work on your boat. The mooring fees are expensive considering you have to travel 2 days to get onto a sailing route and the overall management of marina is poor hense why its the only marina on the Shropshire union without a waiting list..

¡No volveremos!

Imagine that friend's house you love going to because you're always made to feel so welcome and by whom you're looked after so generously - that epitomises the experience you'll enjoy if you visit the marina. It begins with a community of boaters, who make you realise that 'community' was previously merely a watchword to you because you hadn't truly benefited from what a supportive community really offers. How many reading this live in or have lived in a house next to a neighbour for a decade where you knew little more than your neighbour's name - and that was probably because you had their post delivered to you by mistake once or twice?

We stopped to use the shower and laundry facilities (which were great). Prices were extremely reasonable (free showers of course). Stayed for the freshly baked scones and tasty sandwiches. Don't hesitate to stop!!

Excellent service, we phoned Tattenhall marina at 4.30pm to see if they could accommodate an overnight stay, the manager was very helpful on the phone and from the moment we arrived. First class from start to finish, friendly staff as well as the locals living at the marina, great food, good bar open late! Best marina we have visited, Cheshire Ice Cream Farm a 5 minute walk from the Marina, highly recommend.

Really good place to stop. Not many marinas like this and definitely one of the best with the addition of a bar and food at night if you want a break from the boat. Really friendly people and very helpful!

we hired a day boat out from Colin at chester day boat hire and made our way along the canal and stopped here as it has a private mooring . on arrival we had turned up on a day for booked roast dinners so the menu wasn't available as it usually is . disappointed we were not as the lovely man went out of his way to make us sandwiches toasties and chips ..which were all beautifully presented and well tasty ...lovely clean , warm with fantastic views and very friendly staff and customers . loved our day out on the canal made better by a warm in here for an hour or so ...thank you ...will be back even without our boat I am sure ..

This is an amazing little place! The decor and surroundings were lovely and it was a really comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. We started off with drinks and all the coffee drinkers agreed that the coffee was a really lovely cup of coffee. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and there was plenty. We all had different meals and everybody was fully satisfied. The staff here are friendly and helpful and would love to go back!

The best quality home cooking I've had. The Sunday dinner was amazing. The lunch menu is good value too, typical pub food but gourmet standard. The lovely chef Cath obviously enjoys cooking and surprising diners with her carefully prepared meals. The Sunday dinner was large with beautiful cuts of beef, lots of perfectly cooked vegetables and properly roasted potatoes, not those deep fried ones other chefs cheat with. Everything was cooked and presented with a high degree of care and attention. Sunday dinner is such a treat it's only on the last Sunday of each month, originally intended for hungry narrowboaters now it seems people come from far and wide bringing their friends and families. The modern restaurant and bar overlook the peaceful marina with views of Beeston castle and Peckforton Hill. Seating provided outside for sunny days. Cask Ale available until it runs out. It would be wise to book a table before setting off.

Just had the best Sunday lunch ever. Lovely home cooked food with a great selection of vegetables and delicious home made dessert.I have my boat moored here, and regularly eat here so am not really surprised it was so good as the food is amazing, but the Sunday lunch was outstanding.

Called in for lunch this week and was surprised by the quality of the food the size of the portions and the value for money.I had the steak pie but all the food looked excellent. The chips were really crispy and great flavour. Most of the meals were £5.99.We had a glass of wine 250 ml for £3.99 and ended on a coffee for £1.50.There are excellent views of the Marina and the narrowboats from the cafe . I can not recommend this cafe enough.

Went to visit a friend here last week and we decided to go into The Boathouse for a drink and some food. What a lovely atmosphere. I had liver and onions which was so delicious and the plate was piled high. Great value. The staff were lovely and welcoming. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a fantastic home cooked meal at a very reasonable price. Will certainly be going back for Cath,s home made wholesome cooking.

My wife and I visited the coffee bar after friends had recommended it who stay at the Marina. No lunch was on offer that day (very limited hours) when we visited. Staff seemed more interested in chatting with the regulars than observing the bar and we waited a while for our 2 coffees. Although very pleasant outlook I would think its more suited to the resident boating community rather than the general public. Although no faults to be reported.

An excellent marina with full facilities for canal boaters with plenty of moorings, huge car park, beautiful cafe serving delicious breakfasts, drinks and other food throughout the day. Showers and toilets on site and all very very clean and well organised. We hired a boat for a birthday celebration and took a picnic with us. The boat didn't have an oven but the cafe kindly helped out and cooked our pizzas and even put them in boxes to take on board. Cannot be faulted in any way. There is also a laundry in the building. An amazing place.

We called here after seeing it signposted from the road. What a surprise. This is a large boatyard for canal boats. You can also watch the boats going through the old lock. It is an interesting and peaceful place to spend a while. There is also a cafe on site for those who want a drink and snack.

Mooring my boat there for 6 months was a pleasure. There are all facilities expected for boats including a laundry (2X large washers and dryers) . There is a cafe/bar although check for bar closing hours. Tattenhall town is 25 mind walk or a bus ride ( until 1900 approx ) . Staff were great

Ended up in the Tattenhall Marina when we went for a walk from Tiverton to Tattenhall while staying at the Shady Oak Pub back in AugustThe Café is lovely – really nice setting amongst the canal boats (hundreds of them). We had a nice coffee and tea cakes. The staff are really friendly – make you feel welcome. One of our colleagues was not feeling well and a narrow boat man dropped him back to where we were staying which was a really nice gesture. It is next to the canal it has some lovely walks. You could walk along the canal for hours.I would definitely recommend it.A Great setting. Excellent Value for money.

We stopped at Scott's bar at tattenhall marina as a break on our cycle along the canal towpath. It is a beautiful place to get a snack, the food was lovely and the service could not have been better. It was surprisingly quiet but that might be because it was not sign posted from the canal. A special thanks for the chef who even provided some dog food for our collie.

Attended Saturday night quiz. Arrived at 7:00pm. Started with a glass of red wine and Mediterranean platter followed by a to die for cheesecake( all food freshly cooked by Jason ( chef ) and the team. Wolfed the cheese cake down and realised I hadn't took a picture. Had a few more vino's during the quiz along with some banter with Jason and the regular customers. All tables were booked and nice to see a full house. Made a change to the average Saturday night and will certainly do it again. Would recommend to call in prior for some brekky or lunch to book quiz any day before or on Saturday. Quiz moved on quicker than your normal pub quiz which was great with the light banter and no typical interruptions from pub scene. Didn't win the quiz but enjoyed trying.

Stumbled on this wonderful cafe as we were on our way home from a camping trip. The staff are incredibly friendly and were so welcoming and kind to my 5yo daughter. The food was amazing, we both had the breakfast and my daughter had a lunch box which she loved and I thought it was great value, when we went inside to pay we couldn't not buy one (or two) of the amazing cakes. So delicious. Thank you :)

Our favourite place to come for brunch after football. The team, as always, went above and beyond with the orders for our family (all with different dietary requirements). The boys had the classic big breakfast with local products at a great price. I tried the weekend special eggs Benedict and it was amazing. The boys filled their boots. The girls enjoyed new things. The doorstop toast alone is worth the visit. Sadly, no room for my favourite one the menu - parsnip cake, but the cake-away option meant I could enjoy it later. We brought a friend for their first visit and she was blown away.

Not religious at all but like other reviewers found this true OASIS when looking for refreshment in Chester Just great, lovely staff and clientele and great quality and value coffee and cakes... Interesting selection of books, gifts, cards etc Would use regularly if we lived locally Staff say they may have to relocate soon due to "commercial development of the site" Surely the Church which is not short of funds can provide an alternative venue for this wonderful place which probably does more for spreading the religious message than many more traditional churches etc...something in the Cathedral Precinct maybe?? Good luck to you all and God bless ( if it helps)
