I have been here for scones which are just fantastic. But they also have a great variety of other very tasty food.

We have been regulars here for over 5 years and we always love the amazing lunches. Their jacket potatoes in particular can’t be beaten!. Their paninis are delicious, especially the sesame bread. So many different drinks choices. Their cakes and tray bakes are all freshly made and yummy. The staff are always extremely friendly and greet you with a smile. If you like architecture then going and sitting in the main restaurant area upstairs is highly recommended as it’s a very old building with all original wood features which adds to the cosey atmosphere.

A lovely little cafe with really friendly and helpful staff. We had the breakfast brunch paninis and tea and brownies. All was excellent. My wife has an allergy to dairy and the staff were very accommodating to this and made sure that it was very clear what she could or could not have. There were plenty of vegan (therefore dairy free) options available. Would definitely go back.

Had lunch here when visiting Shrewsbury for an afternoon, the staff were lovely, the atmosphere was welcoming and the food was great. Would highly recommend.

Always come here when in Shrewsbury. Good coffee, excellent snacks and light meals. Usually stay downstairs but this time upstairs to an airy well lit room with comfortable wooden chairs.

The sandwich was good, the flat white was a very small cup. Service was very slow.

Great breakfast this morning. Lovely service, food hot and beautifully cooked. Nice coffee and fresh orange juice was gorgeous. 100% recommend 😀

We had an amazing afternoon tea takeaway for a hen do, the food was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented! Such a fantastic selection of fresh cakes and sandwiches. Would definitely order again!

Grubby, overpriced, and the food was poor, the baguette tasted like it was yesterday's and we got a dirty glass. The staff were nice enough and tried their best

I'll start with the good, nice fresh ingredients for the sandwiches, I had a lovely cake and it was reasonably priced for the quality. What really let it down is the sandwich could have been assembled better by my 6 year old. An absolute mess that once I'd got back to work was all over the place. It's not like they were rushed either, it took the lad an age to make it but it felt like it was the first time he'd been asked to make one. Shame really as even competent assembly would have made this somewhere I'd go back to.

Lunch visit. Good range of fillings and breads. Nicely presented, generously filled and very tasty. Couldn't manage a cake, but they looked very appealing.

Our first visit today to Tastes of Shrewsbury, it certainly won’t be our last! The staff are first class, the young lad who was our waiter was an absolute delight, polite, friendly, funny and knowledgeable, an absolute credit to you! The sandwiches were lush, the bread was delicious and they came with crisps and a salad 👍🏼🥰

The staff in here were honestly so sweet and friendly, made the whole visit a lovely experience. Delicious food all freshly made and there were so many vegan options!

Called in today and was greeted by lovely staff who couldn't do enough to provide us with tasty and very filling lunch. We'll definitely visit again next time we're in Shrewsbury. Dog friendly which is always a bonus.

As the reviews were so high, we really wanted to try here, but unfortunately it didn’t really meet our expectations. But it could just be us! Food: overall just very basic: - Jacket potato cheese & beens: I actually quite liked this (cheese was great), but the coronation chicken jacket was watery and strange tasting. - We asked for a veggie sausage version of the sausage, Red Leicester cheese & caramelised onion baguette (they were very accommodating which was great!), but sadly, the veggie sausage was tasteless, as was the cheese & all you could taste was the sweetness of the onion. - Not fond of the New York deli toastie. Drinks: - Mocha and latte were basic, but good. - Raspberry ripple milkshake wasn’t very thick & didn’t taste of much. Staff: - super friendly! Overall atmosphere of place: - Gorgeous upstairs and very historical. Tables a bit rickety.

Fabulous place. Was lucky enough to win a cream tea for 2 on a raffle. So booked up to meet an old friend and have a catch up. Felt welcome as soon as I walked in. We were taken to a lovely room upstairs and sat down. Firstly the scones were perfection (raspberry) fresh, and light, about the size of my head and delicious. We hadn't finished catching up so we decided that we should probably order a spot of lunch as we had been there for some time and the menu was just too tempting. We ate our sandwiches/toasties. Food was quick, hot and again delicious. The atmosphere is wonderful and the Staff are all friendly and helpful. Definitely won't be going anywhere else for lunch on the rare occasion that I venture into the town centre. 100/10

Set out for a walk around Shrewsbury on the hunt for scones … this placed delivered. Raspberry and sultana flavors, both fluffy and quite good. Yell out to the staff for being informative and helpful without being overbearing.

We stumbled across Taste when stopping in to Shrewsbury en route to North Wales. We were ushered in with our dog and treated like family. The dog was pampered with treats and a bowl of water and nothing was too much trouble. The food was fresh and delicious and we had lovely chats with a number of different staff about the beautiful period property. We had such a lovely experience and left with a smile. Thank you :)

We were passing through Shrewsbury and wanted a cup of tea. This little cafe is close to the town centre car parks and shops. We sat upstairs and had a lovely scone and piece of cake with a tea and coffee. Quite small place but convenient and friendly service with nice scones and cakes

Excellent location, excellent value for money and extremely helpful staff

What a fabulous place for food & drinks! It was the first class look of the scones in the window that grabbed my attention. The hot sausage, red Leicester cheese & caramelised onions multiseeded baguette was absolutely delicious, best sandwich in years. The scone did not disappoint, crusty outer, beautiful pastry & very considerately pre carved in half, first time ever but spot on!! All the staff had a can do attitude, rare nowadays & cleaning was thorough to both tables & chairs. We saw an afternoon tea for 2 come out which was extraordinary! This is a first class place to call, forget the rest & head for "Taste of Shrewsbury" the second picture shows how good the scones were, all gone! It's where we will head when next in town!

As always the yummiest scones ever made! Absolutely wonderful service with smiles all round from the cheerful and accommodating staff. Couldn't wish for a better place for a coffee , thank you to all of you!

Absolutely terrible food, we ordered two breakfasts. The sausage was uncooked the bacon was cremated, the has browns were as hash as nails and full of oil. Tomatoes were segmented and swimming in oil. We ate a couple of mouthfuls and left……don’t waste your money.

Lovely. Well attended too outside with the dog instantly offered water and treats. Specials were well thought out and what a nice range of chutney alongside the quiche I had.

Lovely spot! This is more than just a sandwich shop and they have a lovely lunch room upstairs. All of the staff are so welcoming and the menu and drink selection was excellent. Highly recommend this place and will return!

My wife Sandra commented on our experience here. Just like to add the scones are devine. Upstairs seating is very pleasant in period surroundings. Left feeling full and satisfied wonderful quality.

Staff service exceptional.. food quiche fries chutney coleslaw. Berry blast smoothie latte raspberry scone and clotted cream. One word WOW a must visit in Shewsbury. We will be returning.

Called in for afternoon coffee and cake. Absolutely first class! Can't beat this place for quality and attention to detail. So much so that we returned for breakfast after an overnight stay. We recommend mushrooms and spinach on granary toast and the sausage sandwich was excellent too. Will definitely return on our next visit to Shrewsbury.

Wonderful service, very friendly and the food was amazing! It is obvious they take real pride in what they do.

Table was dirty, the waitress just wiped the crumbs on to the floor. The placemat out down was also dirty. The highchairs we used also needed to be cleaned by myself as the weren’t clean. I also thought it was over priced…£6.50 for a cup of tea and a brownie.

Myself and partner decided to take a trip to Shrewsbury today. We have been past Taste several times on previous visits but never been in until today. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who seated us upstairs and took our order of two breakfasts, a latte and a strong black coffee. The drinks arrived and were piping hot and the black coffee was the perfect strength. Our food arrived very quickly and it was obvious it had been made with quality ingredients and by somebody who actually cared. Upon paying for our food, we also purchased a slice of Victoria sandwich, a peanut butter cake and chocolate and custard slice. I commented to the lady in charge about how wonderful our food, drink and service had been. We will definitely be seeing you again. Ps, the take away cakes have just blown us away too! It was cold in the seating area upstairs. Ordered a hot chocolate and a bacon brie sandwich. The chocolate was lukewarm and the sandwich contained small cut up pieces of fatty bacon, not crispy bacon as written in the menu.

Wonderful place to visit whilst in lovely Shrewsbury. Kay was ever so nice and made me and family feel so welcome. Kay made us fresh scones of our choice for next day collection. Wow one of the best scones I have ever eaten and I must say I am a huge scone fan! Thanks so much will be back when next visiting and certainly trying more of your delicious items :)

Overall slow service, and the mannerism in which I believe Katy spoke to her fellow colleague the young lady with plaits I felt this was degrading and belittling opposed to constructive. Made you cringe slightly as you are waiting for your food.

Popped in last week for a late lunch, panini choices were excellent and very tasty 😋 Our 2 small Shih Tzu’s were made welcome too 😀👍 Take out scones we’re yummy too 😋

Superb food and drinks with not a ruler near the cakes. They were asking to be eaten and tasted wonderfully scrumptious. The savoury offerings were well filled with fresh and very tasty ingredients. Food made with love by people who want you to enjoy their offerings. No pretensions just amazing food. Go there and eat it's an amazing experience.

I have been going to Taste for over 8 years, maybe 3-4 times a year. Never had anything but great service from friendly staff who produce lovely, unfussy but creative food. Everything is carefully labelled with regards to allergies except the free dog biscuits !! Just joking. Definitely a place to go in the centre of town.

A small group of us met upstairs in the excellent cafe area for a couple of hours in the late morning. A great place to meet for coffee and also to eat. The staff were excellent and very attentive, a great pleasure to be there.

Had a really nice breakfast here. The portions were generous. I had the breakfast quesadilla which was something different on the menu and it was really good. Service was great and the staff friendly. My hubby had the full breakfast which was really well presented and lovely.

Just visited today for lunch. This has turned into a favourite spot for every trip to Shrewsbury. The food is lovely and interesting. All dietary needs seem to be well covered. Presentation is excellent. The staff are just so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

I called in on a quick shopping trip when I was passing. The food is all homemade and the cakes and scones looked very good. I chose a roasted veg wrap with cream cheese and carrot chutney and it was so delicious, I will go again to have another one! Excellent place for a coffee or light lunch. Been to Taste a few times before and this time was particularly good. Had a jacket with coronation chicken, which was really nicely spiced and the ploughman's platter, which was AMAZING. Coffee was good too.

Booked a vegan afternoon tea for a friends birthday and they really outdid themselves! Plenty of food to go around the 3 of us, absolutely delicious and would certainly recommend for those who are vegan. Sandwiches were full of fillings, scones were light and fresh and the cakes were so yummy! Presentation was also lovely, with the cakes and scones being served on a slate stand! Ladies were very polite and welcoming too, checking up on us for any refills of tea, etc. Overall a fantastic afternoon tea and well worth the money!

On arrival to Shrewsbury a visit here left me a little deflated, the Brownie was very grainy/sugary but quite dry. I ordered a Cappuccino which took an age to arrive, only to find I had been brought a Latte which I accepted to save a further lengthy wait. It is not a place to which I would return.
