Great food in a pleasant atmosphere.

Very nice food and welcoming staff

I really loved the food, the service. The ladied who attended me were very kind and always kept an eye on me. The only one aspect that I consider the restaurant can improve is offering tap or draft beer. However, they offer a good assortment of bottled Italian beers. Il calzone was pretty good with a good balance of all its ingredients taste.

Absolutely the best pizza restaurant in Chelmsford. They are also great with my kids and handed out a free babycino when one of them got upset. I can’t recommend this place more.

Amazing food, atmosphere and service.

As an Italian and a vegan, I can absolutely confirm that Taste of Italy makes truly Italian pizza, plus they have great vegan options and amazing service! Everything was spot on: great food (they can make any pizza and calzone with vegan mozzarella), attentive service, Italian beers, great background music, and even coffee and limoncello were amazing. I will definitely be coming back here again!

We had a lovely family dinner here yesterday, and everything about the experience was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious, and Ioana, our waitress, took such great care of us. We hadn’t made a booking (though I’d definitely recommend it!), as we only discovered the restaurant by chance. It turned out to be a very special day for us — it marked one year since my father-in-law passed away. We decided to spend the day together as a family, letting the day guide us. Throughout, we kept noticing little signs that reminded us of him, which meant a lot to all of us, especially my wife and mother-in-law. The restaurant didn’t know the significance of the day, but still went out of their way to make our meal feel special. As I said, we didn’t have a reservation yet they did their upmost to accommodate us. We’re so grateful for their warmth and kindness, and we’ll definitely be returning. Highly recommend!

We popped in on our anniversary without a booking and were made so welcome! Enjoyed a fantastic margarita (cocktail!), great pizza and then were given some unexpected extra treats too! So grateful to you for making our day special.... We'll be back! X

The best pizza I’ve ever eaten.

I ordered online and there was a slight issue, the customer service was impeccable I truly cannot fault them. The pizza was amazing and so were the fries. Truly an amazing team working here.

Excellent pizza, but very noisy.

Service was poor sadly. We had to ask to order, ask for desert and ask for the bill. It’s also extremely expensive for what you get. £4.29 for a bottle of Diet Coke!! More than most central London restaurants! And two triangular slices of focaccia used for bruschetta for £10.99! If I knew how little I’d be getting for the price I wouldn’t have bothered. My son’s pizza was very tasty but £10.99 for a small pizza and scoop of ice cream was also overpriced. We won’t be back.

Service and starters was excellent, we had the mixed Italian starter it’s just a shame we had to eat the pizza’s with a knife and fork, very greasy and oily, excellent dough however, everything was soggy sadly, overall experience was good just very unfortunate about the pizza, our opinion it is very overpriced. We expressed our thoughts on the pizza to the staff and they gave us some free desserts to take away and limoncello on the house, not sure we would go back again.

Went for my son’s birthday without booking. They managed to fit us in and we’re so thankful they did. Incredible service and the food was amazing. My son said it’s the best pizza he’s ever had and he’s had a few! Will be booking in for my 50th birthday even though we’ll have to travel a fair to get there. So worth a visit thanks guys. My vegan pizza was also delicious

Yesterday evening we celebrated my husband's surprise birthday at TASTE OF ITALY restaurant , and the service was exceptional. Lucia and The staff were incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. They set up the space beautifully, and provided attentive service throughout the evening. The food was also fantastic, and our guests loved it! My husband was so thrilled with the surprise, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Great meal for my son's 18th birthday. All the staff were very friendly & efficient. Peter was brilliant & the birthday boy had a free Grappa & we all shared some Limoncello at the end. Good atmosphere & huge portions!

The best pizza I've ever had, definitely a place where to go at any time to enjoy the a delicious pizza created in a most traditional Italian way, with proper Italian ingredients(really makes the difference). From entrance I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff, very respectful and friendly, iven if the restaurant it was full we had no waiting time for our order and it was just perfect, can't wait to share this experience with all of my friends. Highly recommended!

We had pre-theatre dinner here last Thursday, 13th Feb '25. The food, as usual, was amazing and a true taste of Italy. The staff here are wonderful, attentive without being over the top. The restaurant is clean and welcoming and the smell of freshly baked pizza fills the air. On this occasion, we had the 3 course set meal, at £23.99 good value for such excellent food. And of course, the staff, they are simply the best! On previous visits, we have had the 'open calzone' a culinary triumph! But for me, it's all about the pizza. I honestly believe you will not find a better pizza this side of Rome! The kitchen and serving areas are spotlessly clean as are the wash rooms. This is now my 'go to' restaurant for great pizza and recharging the spirits! If you love Italian food, make A Taste of Italy your next choice, you won't regret it! Apologies, no photo's, when the food arrived, all I could think about was eating it!!

Taste of Italy in Chelmsford is an absolute gem! The pizza I had was incredibly authentic, with perfectly crisp, thin bases and massive poofy crusts. The ingredients are clearly top quality, and the balance of flavours is just spot on. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and Peter my waiter was super friendly and passionate about what they do —highly recommend!

Good quality food but we did wait for 20 mins for someone to take our drinks order. Also a better choice of background music would improve the experience as not everyone want to eat to endless ‘Drum and Base’.

Staff were amazing , attentive , polite and helpful. 10/10 Food was average , I wasn’t overly impressed very soggy pizza which you expect from some traditional style pizzas but this was falling apart. Definitely overhyped. Really overpriced for what it is .

Always a pleasure to visit Taste of Italy, they continue to produce the best pizzas I’ve had outside of Italy… perhaps even in Italy… but that could be controversial! They are amazing with the kids and always give them a little extra tlc. This time we were served by George, Timea and Elena who always give us excellent service from the moment we walk through the door

All the food is great, the interior is cute and really clean and the staff are lovely. You have a healthy amount of freedom when it comes to choosing portions (example is pizza sizing) but theres also a diverse variety of other food and drinks you can treat yourself too

Lovely restaurant, spotlessly clean, great attentive staff. Interesting menu, we had ‘open calzone’s’ something we’d not seen before. It’s a freshly baked calzone, opened, stuffed with Italian ham and cheese, folded and served with quite a good size salad and the taste! Best Italian food we’ve ever eaten? Probably, are we returning? Yes definitely! Cannot fault this place. Sorry, no pictures, it was so mouth-wateringly good, eating was more important than pics!

Visited twice here recently, their pizzas are amazing - can't think of anywhere else that could better them and even on trips to Rome and Sardinia didn't find them as good. Service was friendly and fast.

As an italian I can tell you this is a proper pizza,made in the most authentic way ,with the italian ingredients, my son had as usual his pepperoni pizza,my husband as usual his lovely bianca with ham and mushrooms, my mom had tried the pistachio and mortdela one word fresh creamy burrito to die for and I gave it a try to diavola with spicy nduja,all was absolutely delicious.I can't recommend this place enough.The staff are really attentive and always go an extra mille to satisfy all their customers, always with a smile on their face.Evwn if you are not a fan of pizza you will always find something else to try as lasagna, pollo ,arancini Give this restaurant a try and I promise you won't be disappointed

I have yet to eat, but as a tourist, to go to a restaurant that has ‘the best pizza in the uk’’ does not offer WiFi… as a solo traveler, completely unacceptable.

food is always amazing, service is also fabulous!

The majority of the food was good. The starters and the arancini was good. The same can’t be said for the lasagne!! The salt content was way too much and to be honest I found it inedible!! We ordered enough items that the main would be the only thing that we would be eating!! If the lasagna had been the only thing ordered then it would have been a review of 0. Super salty lasagna is not what I expect!!

The quality of the food was very poor. Main issue was the pizza was very soggy due to the amount of grease. Unfortunately the service wasn't much better where the timing of food was well off and had to chase staff for food. I had higher expectations after reading some of these reviews.

Just finished my meal and I must say... wow! My partner is Italian and from Catania (Sicily), so she was a bit unsure about coming here as since she moved to the UK 7 years ago, she hadn't had one great pizza. Pizza Express was the closest she had to a good pizza. Not anymore! My pizza had tomato base, mozzarella, parmesan cheese, rosemary potatoes, Italian sausage, and red onion. Absolutely amazing! The quality of the ingredients was spot on! Also.... the crust was so light and tasted soooo good. The service was great, and the pizza didn't take long to come out at all. We certainly will be coming back as there are 2 other pizzas I would like to try. Highly recommend if you want to eat the best pizza in Chelmsford! The other Google reviews will back me up!

One of my favourite restaurants in Chelmsford. The staff are so friendly and thoughtful, even the courtesy shot at the end they brought an alcohol free for my niece who is 4 also they had colour in sheets and crayons to keep the little ones entertained. The pizza is just delicious.
