We visited to celebrate our 10th Anniversary after a colleague recommended we try Olio. The staff were friendly and attentive, there was a lot to choose from on the menu, including many gluten-free options which made my wife happy. Portions were generous, the Fillet Steak was fantastic as was the GF Penne Fruiti Di Mare👌. We will definitely be visiting again.

Had a fabulous Mother’s Day treat at Olio on the Green! Absolutely love this restaurant! It was a set menu but still had great options. The sea bass was amazing as always, as were the sardines. The best bit though are the wonderful staff who go out of their way to give you the warmest welcome which they have done each time we’ve eaten there. Service was excellent, we had drinks when we needed them and the food just right, not rushed but not left waiting. We look forward to visiting in the better weather to sit outside and watch the ducks on The Green 😁. Highly recommend this beautiful restaurant ☺️

I can honestly say this is THE best restaurant… we dine there regularly and the food is amazing! Complimented by friendly attentive staff who are great with children or if you are just out for a romantic meal or with friends. If you haven’t been then I strongly recommend. Thanks to Olio’s and the staff for being fantastic in every way.

We visited Olios on Friday night for my daughter’s birthday! Amazing service, very accommodating. They even sang happy birthday when they bought out the cake. Food was to superb. Will definitely be a regular in the future! Thank you for a lovely evening 💕

Popped in for meal with family, fabulous food . I had skate wing cooked to perfection, and goats cheese with figs starters. Staf wonderful and helpful for dietary requirements, well done we will be back 5 starts meal and service

Last minute lunch time booking for my brother's 60th birthday and we were not disappointed. Food and service was excellent. They all truly went out of their way to ensure we had a fabulous experience. Also have to say how brilliantly they looked after my 2 and a half year old granddaughter. Just asked me what she would like to eat and made it first. They didn't even charge me for her food. Total admiration. Sincere thanks for a lovely experience.

Always a warm welcome and fantastic cuisine too. Genuine Italian ingredients in authentic recipes are a win every time. It is clear why this is our favourite restaurant in Essex. Gio and the team are exceptional hosts who are experts at making each guest feel like an old friend.

Honestly one of the best restaurant experiences ever! Took my grandmother out for lunch and she was treated like the queen! Such attentive and friendly staff with great recommendations. And the food was perfectly cooked, can't fault at all. 10/10

Do away with the plastic flowers guys. Otherwise everything perfect. The Margaritas were up there with the best. We normally go to London to eat out so really pleasantly surprised with the offering at Olio on the Green. Keep up the good work everybody.

Was st a lunch for a club so we created own atmosphere but staff were helpful and informative contributing to a great experience!

This restaurant is the best in and around Chelmsford.. I've been coming here years and I absolutely love it.. the food is amazing, the staff are amazing , every time I come back to UK this is my first port of call.. Well done guys..

We had a family meal celebrating a welcome to the world for Victoria and Chris's first child,staff, and food. It was tremendous. we couldn't fault anything recommend this establishment to everyone,just nice people doing a fabulous job.

Fantastic! The food was delicious and the service from the staff was exceptional. We were celebrating my MIL’s birthday and the staff overheard so when we ordered desserts, they brought hers out on a platter with “Happy Birthday” written on it. A small detail but it really was a lovely surprise and made our visit! We went Saturday lunchtime and they catered space for our buggy. I will most definitely be returning!

Friendly service, large servings. Starter’s amazing (pork belly and scallops) main course risotto under seasoned but nice, lasagne disappointing- small piece of hard plastic found in dish. Unsure how something prepared on the premises could contain this. No explanation from our waiter. Was busy when we were there.

An absolute gem of Essex food industry! Cheesy Lobster & Pasta was fantastic.

I came to Olio today for a wedding lunch. I thought it was a great choice. Food was excellent and well presented. Staff were friendly helpful. One had a great sense of humour 😀 Thank you.

Waitress a bit abrupt. Kept waiting for veg when main course was served. Profiteroles rather solid . Too many dishes had chilli so choice lumited

I wish you could see the full 6 minutes of the video where Mimmo flambees the Grana Padano before adding the linguine and stirring in the exquisite finely grated truffle... Just divine!! If you find yourself anywhere near Writtle just be sure to pay a visit to this wonderful restaurant - you just know that you owe it to yourself to do so 😉 😋

Wonderful food, staff and a lovely ambiance. We went for lunch today with our 2 year old and were so well looked after and nothing was any trouble. Food was beautifully authentic and well presented.

Great night. The restaurant was lovely a full and buzzing. Classic Italian service, fantastic menu, especially the specials. We were lucky to book on a night with entertainment, Tony Vegas was great, a wide variety of music to suit all.

This place is incredible. The food is just perfect, and the service is great. Popped in for a Thursday night dinner and was very impressed with the whole experience. The staff are very attentive and the food turn around was very quick even when the venue got busier - will definitely be back!

Really lovely friendly helpful staff. Only slight down was it being so noisy but that was because everyone was enjoying themselves. I just found it slightly difficult to hear our conversation. Food was amazing.

We lunched at Olio's with good friends who chose the venue, theirs was an excellent recommendation. The staff at the restaurant greeted us warmly and showed us to our table in dining area which is thoughtfully laid out. They were also very patient while our group worked through the menu and especially the "Specials" page of it. Of the Starters available, Sardines were the most favoured and they were good, no complaints at all. For the Mains the majority opted for the Monkfish and were very pleased with the size of the portion of the meaty fish. Skate wing was also chosen and its size gave no reason for disagreeable comments. All of the dishes were beautifully cooked and presented. We were delighted with our first visit to Olio's and there is no doubt a second will take place, probably in the near future. Would we recommend Olio's? Yes! It is justly popular and it is best to book a table ahead of the proposed visit. If traveling by car, it is also wise to leave ample time for finding a place to park, such places can be at a premium around Writtle's Green.

Always nice to visit but I do feel that the variety of food on the menu is not what it was when they had just the one restaurant however the food is delicious. Staff are always very professional and the atmosphere is vibrant

The service here is outstanding, the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. They ensure to check in on you despite how busy the restaurant gets and the food is an authentic taste of Italy. We will most definitely be back!

Always meant to go here after hearing many clients rave about it. Small family run restaurant, not a chain. Wow can you tell the difference. The staff are delightful. Funny, interactive with time to chat & give you plenty of info on the dishes. Even if there wasn't something on the menu. Just ask. Super attentive too. But not over bearing. Even down to asking how long till you want your next course. (been in restaurants where it's so quick you don't have time to digest the 1st course) Now to the food. Wow wow wow. Never had food so piping hot before. Tastes were amazing. Pasta cooked to perfection. Al dente. Flavours were spot on. Husband had the Skate. Perfect. Absolutely bang on meal. In a lovely setting with fantastic staff. One of the best meals we have had in a long time. Thank you Olio

My boyfriend and I have just been to Olio on the Green for our anniversary. All the staff were absolutely charming and looked after us so well. All the food was perfect; so fresh and tasty! We booked it as a special occasion in advance and they all made us feel special. A delightful evening. We’ll definitely be going back!

What an amazing restaurant/bar with the most friendly service you can ask for. Do not miss it when you are in Writtle.

Busy Saturday night and a nice armosphere. Had to wait a time before ordering but after that service was efficient. Food especially the starter was good although portions were a bit too generous. We enjoyed our meal and will go back.
