I last ate here in 2002 it was very good then. But now, in July 2024, it is one of the worst curries I’ve ever eaten. No, actually one of the worst takeaways I’ve ever had … the chicken (tikka main) did not resemble anything like a ‘tikka’- no flavour, weird beige colour, dry and rubbery. Bombay potatoes- overcooked - in a thin tasteless watery sauce. Mushroom rice - smallest serving I’ve ever seen - just about passable. Peshwari naan, no filling whatsoever, undercooked, dough like substance brushed with honey (maybe). Papadums stale and covered in salt (WTAF is that about?). I now just hope that the small amount I did actually manage to eat, does not make an unwelcome reappearance in twelve hours time.

Only table in the restaurant on a Saturday evening, so the atmosphere wasn’t there. No customers is most likely a reflection of the food. The chicken in the curries tasted like they’d used frozen cubes that they’d defrosted in a sauce - definitely not the standard I’ve had in other restaurants. The sauce tasted like a sharwoods jar from Tesco. Nan breads were hard and dry. On a more positive note, the Bombay aloo was nice. Shame, as I’ve head this place used to be nice a few years back! Couldn’t fault the women serving though, she was nice and attentive.

The restaurant is tucked away in old Hatfield making it an gem opposite the station. The food took abit longer than expected but was worth the wait due to it being cooked to perfection, the blends of spices we’re not too overpowering but had enough kick to enjoy the dishes. A personal favour is the naan, as it was so soft and fluffy. The decor and atmosphere were also pleasant, would recommend for groups and and small parties. Thanks again to the Mo, will be looking forward to seeing you again

Disgusting food and overpriced. We popped in early to have a quick meal. We were the only ones there. Had to keep shouting across the restaurant to get service. Ordered a cobra shandy. Got a glass of lemonade with ice and a half pint of cobra to try and mix myself. My husband wanted a glass of Merlot. The only wine you can have by the glass is house wine. We had a medium glass and then a large only to find out at the end that this cost more than a bottle of Merlot. My king prawn Marsala (over £20) was a small white bowl of what looked like regular prawns in gravy. And tasted like it but with chilli. No garnish no veg nothing. My husbands biriani tasted of bland butter no spices. Had lumps of cucumber and brocolli and round slices of old lady carrot. And to top it all off the bill was £70!!!!! This was without a starter. We complained and the waiter didn’t care and shrugged his shoulders Worst experience. How dare they call themselves ‘the taste of India’ I’d rather eat dog food.

Delivery on time but food bland. Chicken tasted as if dropped into the sauce rather than cooked in it. Not sure but chicken dish could have been a mix of Turkey and chicken as textures totally different. Sauce lacking flavour - it’s easy to make a tasty sauce at home so expect more from a restaurant. Vegetarian dish “tasteless”

Zero customer service. We booked a table for 7pm, arrived and was told to sit on sofa and we then were totally ignored for 15 minutes whilst they took orders on the phone and served the tables. The restaurant was not even half full. We eventually asked if our table is ready can we please be seated and order as we needed to leave at 8pm for the cinema (allowing an hour for a curry is usually more than enough!). We were told we would not get any food for another 45minutes because they had accepted a big walk in. He suggested we go somewhere else… it’s Saturday night, and he had already wasted 20minutes of our time. He offered no apology whatsoever. I never complain about restaurants (this is my first ever review!) but feel compelled to let people know. (To make matters worse I am 9months pregnant and this was our last dinner together before baby so it was particularly disappointing. We told him this, and still, no apology)

I was excited to read on the WHT that Taste of India in Salisbury square had won the award of being Britain’s best Curry House. On going to the restaurant to collect my food I was underwhelmed by the appearance of the Restaurant and the carpet smelled dirty. When I got home and looked at the food it looked unlike any curry I had seen before -no colour and did not look appetising. The tandoori chicken had the smell and taste of rot and had to binned. The tikka massala was plain , tough pieces of chicken not tandoori , that too had to binned. Wondering how this could be an award winning restaurant I googled Curry awards and it turns out they are no winners at all, they were simply nominated. The article from WHT is misleading and Taste of India is a sad disappointment I hope WHT can correct this inaccuracy . Never eating from them again !

Went here for the first time with my family and I think it will also be my last time. There was no customer service, as was not asked how things were during our meal or even when served our drinks. The menus weren't wiped down, and were just passed customer to customer. We weren't told that we have to clean our hands, so many people spreading germs around. The staff were not wearing masks along with gloves, and the person serving us didn't wipe anything down before giving it to us. When the food was eventually served to us, it was just about warm and lacking flavour. Sad to think a microwave meal from tesco has more flavour. The sauce was just watery and gloopy. I would only suggest this place to people who have damaged taste buds. Then again, they deserve decent customer service so maybe not. I wouldn't even give this 1 star, however, it is required to post this review. Will be making sure I tell everyone I know to avoid this place.

Mo seems quite angry with his waiters and shouts at them! This scared one of the children in our group. My diet coke expired that day.... someone in our group had said check your soft drink dates, so I did! I’d asked for vodka and coke and got lime juice with an almost out of date coke! Waiter had no idea about allergies! Q are the popadoms made with chickpea flour or wheat flour? A yes they are spicy! Q are the popadoms made with chickpea flour ? A they are very spicy! Q are they made with wheat flour ? A ( looking quite confused) yes they are very spicy!!!! It took two conversations with 2 waiters over 30 mins to confirm my food would not contain gluten. I never got to try a popadom ! Food was average. I think any of us will not be returning .
