Excellent meal with my daughter and grandchildren Lovely restaurant and great service Had a great time as it was a treat for my granddaughter's 9th Birthday !!

Food good, service terrible. Decided to visit Bengal Paradise this evening, as we’d driven past it on many occasions. Plenty of parking and spacious restaurant. We were seated in the atrium section and asked what drinks we wanted. These came reasonably swiftly, after that the service went down hill. We had had our poppadums and waited for 20 mins to be asked for our order and we were about to leave as this was just too long. The manager noticed and we felt we should give it a chance to improve, eventually the food came which was very nice and reasonable portions. Trying to get additional drinks was difficult and the staff, of which there were at least 5 on the floor were not particularly attentive. Eventually we were able to order a second drink. Having finished our meal we asked for our bill, the waiter told us it would be a few a minutes and we waited. 30 mins later we were still waiting and we asked another person, who we believe is the manager. He went off quickly and we thought he was bringing the bill. Another 15 minutes passed and by this point we’d had enough so we went to the front of the restaurant to pay. Nobody was there and if we had been less than scrupulous people we could’ve quite easily walked out. Eventually the bill was given to us with a weak apology by the manager saying ‘sorry I forgot’. We had been over charged for two drinks and some additional costs for pickles had been added. All in all this was a disappointing experience and considering we are local to the area we won’t be visiting again and we will go elsewhere. Not even a particularly busy night to use that as an excuse.

Brilliant Restaurant. Raj, the owner, is very friendly and helpful in choosing your food and drink. Waiters are also friendly and efficient. The food is excellent.

We always have a great experience at Bengal Paradise. The staff are friendly and accommodating. We have tried many dishes on the menu, all are good and the quality of their cooking has always been consistent.

Eight of us gathered at the restaurant to celebrate a birthday, and our experience was nothing short of excellent. The service, from the moment we walked in until our departure, was top-notch. The owner personally welcomed and greeted us, adding a warm touch to our celebration. Our culinary adventure included a variety of dishes, but the absolute highlights were the King Prawn Butterfly and Onion Bhaji. The pickles served were truly unparalleled, making them the best I've ever tasted. It was, without a doubt, an unforgettable dining experience

our large party have regularly eaten here as food worth traveling for but the manners of the staff has gone down hill. Clearly the place was packed & we didn't mind the wait for each course to come. The food as always very good for miles around. However, several staff members need to learn to smile, be polite and help with simple requests, this costs nothing. We'll put it down to the fact place was heaving and give them one more try in December.

Just finished a family dinner. There was 8 of us - kids, parents and grandparents so not always easy to cater for. The food was fabulous and the service v attentive. We will definitely be coming back.

I came here very recently with my mum and dad on a Saturday so naturally it was very busy. We were greeted by who I assume was the manager, he had no patience rushed us to our table and bordered on disrespectful in the way in which he spoke to us; as it was busy we assumed this was because of pressures from the environment. After 10 minutes we were asked for drinks, after saying water you are immediately treated as a low priority customer, there were several other tables which had ordered wine or beer etc. and every care was made to ensure that they weren’t waiting for very long and we’re overall were treated far better. After ordering it took just over an hour for our food to come, we ordered a starter which never appeared either. Once our plates were brought over I was given a dirty plate, obviously the restaurant was busy but the lack of care was shocking, especially as this wasnt a small mark but a large fry lump of curry on the plate. Our waiter whom I do believe was the manager as I stated earlier took trouble to ask every other table who had a bottle of wine how their food was, if they were enjoying the food and so on, not a single word was said to us even after making eye-contact with me twice and walking past our table. Eventually after finishing our food our plates were cleared and I asked for the bill, on the bill we were charged for our started which never came and a bottle of white wine, with the cheek of adding on a service charge. Immediately I spoke to the lovely lady at the front who sorted out our bill and was apologetic (the best customer service all night) the bill was then sorted, we paid and left. Overall the food here is exceptional and is some of the best food going, it is a complete shame that the kitchen is let down by such poor poor customer service and quite frankly such a rude manager. If you do decide to eat here do not come on a weekend unless you want to buy several bottles of wine otherwise you are treated like you are doing the restaurant a service by being there.

Poor service look like they’re short staff , charge for 4 beers only had 3, waiting over 1 hour and 35 minutes to receive out food , not my favourite restaurant not sure I would go back

Lovely for a special occasion as the setting and views is beautiful. The service is very good and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant has been there for years which says alot. My only criticism is that some dishes had too much sugar added. They didn't need to do this, the sauces and breads were lovely in themselves without adding so much sugar.

Went there for our Monday currently club meeting. Food was excellent and so was the service. We were given one of their round tables so we could chat easily. Loved it.

This is a great place for a meal. The staff are very attentive but not intrusive. The food is excellent and dishes can be made hotter or milder to your taste if you ask the waiter who will also recommend what sides to have with a particular main. Everybody seemed to be enjoying their evening when we where there. My wife and I will certainly return.

I highly recommend this restaurant. 6 of us had a fabulous meal last week. The food was fresh and tasty with the right amount of sauce and the side dishes were amazing. The staff are friendly and efficient. Great value for money. Please try for yourself. We will be going back next month and will no doubt be a regular customers now. 🌸

This wonderful restaurant is always my first choice. It’s sincere in its care to customers, front of house staff are polite, attentive and if they don’t know will go get RAJ to help. There’s frequently celebratory parties with families of all ages, penguin ice creams for the wee ones and wheelchairs have room to be catered for so all can be included around the same table. Best get onto the food! Arrives hot , fresh and delicious, great choice, they will alter the spice levels if you ask and help if you’re not so sure what to order. For me there’s nowhere else I’d rather go.

Please check you bill, I have just returned home to find they added between £1 - £2 on near enough every single item on my bill. I’m more angry at myself for not questioning it whilst I was there as the gentleman was very hesitant to leave the bill in-front of us whilst we were paying. As residents of Brookmans Park it’s safe to say I will never return and will let everyone else know.

We were a party of 10 celebrating a 50th birthday. The service was excellent and the food very good. A very enjoyable evening.

The service was excellent and the staff very attentive. The food was good. I had lamb vindaloo and although it was good it was a little bland and not as hot as I normally have. That said everything else was good and the portion sizes were decent too.

Was massively overcharged on the bill there were about 4-5 drinks added on to the bill which we did not order, when this was questioned we were simply ignored. No explanation was offered. The food is very good but to over charge someone and not explain why is very unusual behaviour never had this in any other restaurant and for that reason would not go again or reccomend - avoid!

Check your bill for over charging. 3 times ive had extra.drinks added to our bill and they are renowned for it !! If anyone's thinking of ordering a glass of wine make sure you take plenty of money . Nearly 15 quid for a glass of wine...completely unacceptable. never again

Visited on Sat 1st Oct with family was very busy and staff were unorganised we had to wait quite a while before we even got Drinks ordered ordered Starters which were good ordered mains which is where things went downhill Balti Vindaloo came in a white cereal dish not a Balti pot all other dishes served on white cheap crockery whilst food was good the service or lack of spoilt a nice evening you need more staff especially on a busy weekend

Very disappointed I’ve ordered here previously and it’s been good They were rushing when taking the order and I don’t believe they took my details correctly Despite 2 phone calls from me, I was told they were on their way. From an initial 45 minutes quoted to almost 2 hours, it’s just not good enough. Something has happened

Good food, fast service and great atmosphere

Visited Bengal Paradise with my wife last night and can only describe the service as an entire sham from the moment we entered. We are regulars at BP as the food is always very good, but customer service is questionable. Having sat down the waiter came over to take our order. We ordered our drinks which he initially got wrong and we corrected him, no big deal. We ordered our starters with the drinks and advised we would order the mains in a moment as we had not yet decided. The waiter went off and after 15 mins or so the starters arrived but still no drink. I asked the waiter for our drinks and he said give me a minute, the minute because 10 or so minutes and still no drinks even after further requests for our drinks. I choked on the starter and again asked the waiter for our drinks, at which point he could see I was coughing, again he said one minute and walked off to another table. I called a different waitress and she brought our drinks over swiftly. At this stage we have finished our starters and they are yet to take our order for the main course, even after asking the waiter on several occasions if we could place our order! All he kept saying was we’re busy!!! I called over a different waiter who finally took our order. When the order arrived my wife’s order was completely wrong to what she had ordered, worse still my wife is allergic to diary products and the dish they brought was covered in cream. Thankfully she noticed the error once I had placed the rice and curry on her plate. I called over the waiter and explained that they had got it wrong again, they apologised and offered to replace the dish, by this stage my wife declined and just shared my dish as we didn’t want to wait anymore and after one disaster by another. When I complained to the waitress she apologised and offered us complimentary drinks which we accepted and thank d her. Agreed mistakes happen and my wife and I were accepting of this, being regulars and liking their food. The manager/owner came over to inquire and when I explained to him he immediately new which waiter it was and shook his head, which implies he is aware of his poor service. We requested the bill which the manager brought and offered us a small discount which I thanked him. When I checked the bill the drinks hadn’t been credited and the rice which we had discarded half of due to my wife meal being incorrect was still charged. Again mistake happen and we had no issue with this, we’re it really goes wrong was how the manager/owner attitude then completely changes having revised the bill and he comes over with a stern attitude reiterating mistakes happen. I am fully aware mistakes happen, but this was a disaster from the beginning, the way in which he spoke to us, the tutting and huffing and his entire demeanour was totally uncalled for, going from understanding to exceptionality rude. We visit there regular and with large parties of friends, we will never set foot in there again and neither will our friends now , clearly there priority is a few pounds that they had to discount due to their sub standard service as opposed to understanding their customers and ones who visit regularly, very very disappointed to say the least!

Food is always excellent here, have tried other places and they’re not a patch on this place

The Bengal Paradise is a wonderful Indian restaurant. Dawn is not only very good at waiting table but can deal politely with awkward and rude customers. With the rest of the staff she provides a service that is impossible to beat. My wife and I are always happy to recommend this restaurant and mention Dawn in particular.

The lady Waitress called dawn of the dead she is actually the dawn of the restaurant she thinks she is the owners side chick i saw the owner taking off her apron and putting it back on wile some customer saying are you striping her they are very touchy touchy is there anything we need to know, going through your pockets in front of customers please keep your touchy touchy away from customers and this lady thinks she's the owners wife but yet she doesn't realise she's just a waitress working there i heard her saying to few customers she was getting a new job as a manager somewhere but she's not fit to be a kitchen porter or as a street cleaner food was the best thing there waiters were great well dressed and smart and well trained but the lady needs to be put on lease i saw some new faces in the restaurant but they were spot on with service long lanky guy and some new face bearded guy last week he said his name was something like alon or alan thank you alon alan and lanky guy for looking after us if the lady servers us we are walking out lanky and alon hope to see you again thanks for a lovely night

Food was fine , no complaints there, but when I got my bill a glass of bog standard Sauvignon Blanc was £14.25 . This is not a fancy restaurant, there was no excuse for this price

We called asking if the food it’s okay for someone with lactose intolerance, the response was ‘I’m too busy I don’t have time for this’. We did get through to a colleague who was nice and made our order.

waiting 3.5 hours to get food delivered. Lie after lie after lie. Called 5 times and it was always 15 minutes away!!. Such a shame. Had they been honest would have respected them more. Ps still not got my food!!!

For many years this has been the best curry house near Pottes Bar. It still is. You need a car to get there, but we'll worth the trip. All the usual favourites, and several of their own dishes, all done to perfection. Yes, it's a bit pricier than many places, but worth every penny. Add in good service, and an excellent evening out. Very popular. May need to book.

I really want to change this rating as I had high hopes for this place. When our family meal arrived all 5 of us was upset. I could list my issues but I do not want to shame a restaurant in the area I live in. Hope they have the heart to make it up to us to change this rating.

Good meal in very pleasant environment. Having read other reviews we were concerned about issues with service. In the end the food was good and the service perfectly acceptable.....but we were there midweek and the quality of service was heavily dependent on an excellent shift leader. No sure how well service will hold up when things get busy. We'll try them again.

We have just had a fantastic meal tonight at Bengal Paradise. My King Prawn Masala (main) was delicious. The decor is lovely with mood lighting and the Restaurant looks out onto open fields. The waiters and waitress are very attentive without being intrusive. We hadn’t been there for quite a while but am very pleased to say that everything is a good as it was before. Cannot wait to return 😀

Fantastic friendly restaurant, all staff are outstanding and are there for you and your party. Raj and Dawn are tremendous along with Abdul and the other waiters. Beautiful restaurant with lovely views. Can't wait to go back.

I went to the restaurant with my family my family was already seated and waiting for me as I just come from work as I went to go to the table the gentleman asked me if I had a mask I replied no politely as I didn't think I needed one as I was eating in he sed yes you need one to go to the table ill give you one it will cost a pound i couldn't believe what I heard he was charging me a pound for a mask considering im about to spend good Money in the restaurant with my family i was disgusted i was so angry I actually never ate in the end disgusting customer service I will definitely not be going back there shame I never actually got to try the food

My favourite Bengali restaurant ever!!! If you want something they will cater to you! Whether it's a few sticks of ginger (they actually gave me a whole mountain haha) or spicier or sweeter or creamier dish. Also I think my favourite thing about this is the exterior and interior. There are wide glass windows with a view of the meadow and the place is completely detached in it's own little area - the outside has cream walls and looks tropical. It's truly a hidden gem, I accidentally found it whilst going for a drive and haven't stopped visiting since. It has parking too which is a plus!

Very good meal on Father's day lunch time, highly recommended.

The food is usually very good from here, but this isn't the first time our naan has been burnt, we ate what we could. Plus, when we tried to arrange delivery once, we were told it would be an hour. It arrived two hours later. Don't go for delivery and take a miss on the naan.

Bengal paradise has the best Indian dishes I ever tasted. Prices are reasonable and food comes in good portions. Highly recomended for anyone craving Indian cuisine.

Don’t go there! Staff was rude and unwelcoming! The food was alright but because of the staff I am never going back there again! If you want to go there I would not advise and STAY AWAY!!!!

I’ve had a takeaway here before and liked it. Unfortunately the experience was not the same eating in. We arrived at 7pm, ordered as soon as we could and didn’t see any food until 8:30pm. The party next to us arrived a good 15 minutes after us and got their food about 20 minutes before us: they were visibly embarrassed. Which is more than you can say for the restaurant staff. They issued a pretty unconvincing apology and then didn’t engage with us for the rest of the meal. They didn’t even ask if everything was ok - you know, standard restaurant etiquette. The dessert menu made an appearance for about five minutes and was then whisked away without their asking us if we’d like anything else. No one said goodbye when we left. They were embarrassed. As they should have been.

Called in after seeing the old favourite Pubali is currently only doing take away. Heard good things about this place, staff friendly, but they got drinks order wrong and service slow, it was 45 mins before starter turned up but tasty when it arrived - they automatically add service charge on but not a big bill so not a big issue.

I emailed in September to book a table for myself and partner for October, Bengal replied with confirmation on booking. I phoned on the day to check all was ok with booking, and good thing I did! My booking was never reserved and they couldn't fit us in with the time I asked. Not good enough on my behalf, gave plenty of notice and booking was never recorded. Bad communication. Shame as I've heard good things! So anyone who wants to book, make sure you either go into the restaurant and book in person, or ring.

Bog standard food and really poor service. Very slow. Had to ask for drinks and then got one wrong, forgot our poppadoms. When we finally got our food no one bothered to come and ask if everything was ok. Took ages to clear the table and hAd to chase for the bill.No track and trace.

Best curry I have had this year

Was so looking forward to my first visit here after having been reccomended by lots of people.Covid measures not adhered to, tables too close together, far too many people inside, didn't feel safe at all.Staff doing their best but seemed completely understaffed and took quite some time to be served and for food to arrive. To be fair the food was ok but not amazing, in my opinion it was just bog standard Indian cuisine. Will not be returning during the current situation as felt very unsafe.

Food average. Bill questionable. Good job we were on the ball. Service a bizarre mix of ridiculously slow or rushed to the point of rudeness. No social distancing. Staff wearing face masks on their chins, heads, anywhere except covering mouth and nose, and our waiter was totally ‘in our face’. Didn’t feel safe. Wouldn’t go back at the moment.

Went last night. Their forte is customer service. Nice welcome. I like my poppadums freshly fried and warm but these were cold. Also the chapatti didn't taste fresh, felt like it had been sitting there all day. The relish was ok but 2 of them tasted exactly the same. Side salad looked a bit tired. I could have been imagining it but my diet coke tasted weak. Not like the diet coke I'm used to. It came in an opened bottle. I ordered lamb tikka and because it comes dry the server suggested some korma sauce on the side. I was charged £4.95 for this which put a dampener on the whole evening as I felt she upsold it to me. The food was cooked and seasoned well. We asked for containers to be brought to the table and a bit surprised when a waiter just plonked them on the corner of the table and hurried to serve another table. We were offered paper bags for the containers. Felt slightly under pressure to leave as the lady was standing facing us with the debit card machine.

Went for a family gathering of 12 people. All but one person were happy. Service was good and food was lovely. A little more pricey than the other local indian restaurant but the surroundings make this restaurant feel as though its a greater sense of occasion.

Came here with my wife last week and sat by the window. Was really nice food and service. The only reason I can't give this restaurant five stars is because of the music. They were playing "Boyz II Men" and Whitney Houston which I found a bit depressing and patronising. As a white/British couple I would like to hear Indian music when I am eating a curry and I guarantee everyone also would. When we got home I told my friend we ate here and I told him the food was great and I said "there's only one thing" and my friend said "Yeah, the music, I know". So, it's a local talking point. I assume the owner must think that all white people want to listen to Boyz 2 Men while eating a curry and I'd like to assure him that it isnt true. We want to immerse ourselves in your culture and that's why the best Italian restaurants play Italian music, same with Chinese and Indian also. Sorry, For me food is great, service is great but atmosphere wasn't good with "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men blaring out. When you put some indian music on, or Jazz, or something less tacky let me know, put it on facebook, I'll come back, but not until then.

Ok firstly I don't know how this venue gets 4.5 ...I'm going to try and keep this one brief because I really can't be bothered but I need to share my experience in the hope that it might help some one. The service was friendly my tarka dahl was ok but not enough seasoning, prawn puree again was 5 out 10 again nothing special but lacked seasoning. we ordered some naan bread which again was ok but lacked salt in the dough mixture and finally the mixed tandoori grill came out on a sizzling plate so presentation looked ok but all the meats were over cooked and dry the colours looked great but way over cooked so much so that the bed of onions that it was presented on was burnt solid to the bottom of the hot plate ,there were other meat dishes on the table that were also dried out and tough and the the time between the starters and mains was ridiculous 50 minutes plus. The poppadoms and relishes were the best thing I ate. I hope that i was just a one off but judging by the amount of food left on the tables I'm sure i wasn't the only one,the surroundings are lovely but you can't eat the view in my humble opinion do yourselves a favour and swerve it theres far better around.

Food is very good! One of the best for curry. Have only had takeaway and it’s been great every time!
