Taste of Greece in Camden

A lovely little rustic family run restaurant. Excellent Greek menu with lots of choice. Nice friendly staff, happy to chat all things Greek. Gyros delicious. Too much really as we couldn’t manage dessert. Reasonable price. Quick service. Highly recommend

The food was good, although I could see that my mousaka was reheated. The Greek salad was delicious; the stuffed aubergine rolls were really tasty and the pita bread with tzatzikireally nice however, there was an issue with the service. When I came, the restaurant was full while many people came for takeaway orders, and hence everyone was in a rush . There was only one person for "service", orders, and cleaning the glasses, as I noticed; therefore, she couldn’t not -or she didn’t want , I am not sure- have an eye on everyone. I wanted some more tap water, but she was running all around the restaurant -while another lady in the kitchen was speaking to her phone and laughing- trying to serve everyone on time , hence I never asked. The wine was lovely, and the girl in the service was kind, but I would recommend not doing reheated food and hiring more people! I’d go again just for the aubergine rolls and for the Greek salad. However, I believe that a booking is a must since the restaurant is bustling.

The food was good (7/10) but the service was extremely poor. There was no greeting when we got in but we where allocated quickly. They took over 10 minutes to give us the menu and over 30 minutes to take the order. We received the food quickly (although it all seemed premade). As we where eating we realised no one was cooking. One of the chefs spent most of the time speaking to friends or on the phone rather that cooking whilst the waitress was no where to be found. When we asked for the bill we had to wait over 20 minutes and ask twice for it. First time I asked her for it she just went straight to serve 5 other tables and complete ignored my request. When complaining she made the excuse that it was “very busy” although there was no one cooking and less than 10 people in the restaurant. Overall wouldn’t recommend.

Amazing food, it really took us back to Greece. Staff were very accommodating in fitting us in when we had booked. Couldn’t recommend it enough, probably best booking though. Mousaka, giros, tzatziki & halloumi all simply excellent

This review contains no comments about the quality of food because we never got as far as ordering anything. We arrived around 8.00p.m and looked inside; there appeared to be a couple of tables free and it was blissfully not noisy. Approaching the bar, we were met by an unsmiling waitress. We asked if there was a table for two available and she immediately called across another woman, also unsmiling. Neither of them made any attempt to welcome or greet us. We repeated our request for a table; the second woman looked doubtful. A confusing conversation followed which totally bemused us. Were the empty tables reserved? Was the place about to close? Eventually we were told to go and sit at an empty table in the corner. We sat there, the minutes ticked by, nobody came, no menu, no offer of drinks. Strangely, there seemed little sign of activity in the kitchen area, no hustle and bustle, and even more strangely, no smell of cooking. Well I’m sorry folks, it just won’t do. Your food may be “very tasteful”, but if you can’t be welcoming and hospitable and just a little bit attentive, your customers will just get up and leave, which is what we did. So no taste of Greece for us that time, or any other time. Actually, it was a disgrace to Greece and Greek restaurants; in my experience Greeks are the most friendly and welcoming of restaurant owners.

the food was amazing i’m from greece and i have to say that it reminded me my home. Very tasteful great service and a wonderful cooking. Great place best wishes to the chef. :)

My partner and I were enjoying a pleasant walk on a sunny afternoon, when we decided to stop by A Taste of Greece, Bloomsbury, with a view to taking a menu away to read in nearby Russell Square, and decide what to get for a takeaway meal. I was particularly keen to sample the souvlaki as I tried some in A Taste of Greece, Chalk Farm and it was excellent. We entered the (empty) premises at around 3.30pm and an angry looking woman stomped over to us with a face like thunder. 'YES!' she barked. 'Do you please have a menu?' I asked, politely. Looking at us both in quite a murderous fashion, she aggressively jabbed at a scruffy, celotaped menu on the main counter and just barked again, 'HERE!!'. I found the attitude so disturbing and rude, I promptly turned and walked straight back out again. A shame as I would have loved to try the souvlaki, but with such dreadful customer service, needless to say, I shan't be returning. I had to award one star as Trip Advisor will not allow me to submit a review with no stars.
