Unfortunately food was a big let down over cooked no flavour and the duck bag was torn which made it soggy

Service was great, the food was amazing, best chinese i have had in a long time.

I ordered this but it never came. No explanation the just eats said thanks for your order. 6pm came and went then it suddenly said enjoy your food. I’m still hungry.

Hot, flavourful, tasty food as always. Yum yum.

Food was superb, tried lots of Chinese takeaway in the area, this one is the best! The only negative is that you don't get as much food for your money as you do at other competitors. Tubs are smaller, less Chicken Balls compared to others and generally smaller portions even though prices are similar to other local takeaways. That being said, the Food was great!

Food and service was excellent, we had the set menu, which catered for all our tastes. So glad we gave the restaurant a try

When you order sweet n sour , you expect to get the sauce. The beef strips were very dry. Won’t use again

Food was great but delivery was very early and feedback on the Just Eat app about progress was none existent - maybe because the restaurant itself were delivering.. 🤔

Awful experience on NYE. Preordered my food before restaurant opened and was still an hour late. Called restaurant twice to say food had left with driver. When they finally arrived the delivery driver told me she had been dropping off other deliveries. Food wasn’t even warm. Everything was cold, stuck together and sauces congealed. Not edible at all. For the price I paid I will not be using delivery service ever again!

Delivery took more than double the amount of time that the app said. I thought most Chinese restaurants add free prawn crackers when you spend a certain amount, this one doesn’t. The food was ok, chips weren’t really salt and pepper, not a lot of meat in each dish.

We enjoyed our evening here, service was good and prompt, staff were friendly, food was fresh and delicious. No complaints whatsoever. We opted for one of the set menus which we also thought was value for money and actually had our favourite dishes on. We would recommend this place and we will be returning.

Without doubt the Taste of China is the best Chinese restaurant that we have visited. The restaurant was clean and cosy although not very busy. We elected to have the Gourmet menu which when it arrived was very flavoursome with much variety. All of the dishes were beautifully cooked and there was plenty of it. We particularly enjoyed the Spring Rolls and the shredded duck. The person who served us was, I think, the owner. He was extremely helpful and had a big smile for all the time that we were there. We visit Hoddesdon on a regular basis and will definitely be returning to this excellent restaurant!

Unusually the chicken was very chewy

They just did not taste of barbecue ribs will not reorder them

The best flavours of any restaurant in the area along with generous portions.

Great delivery, and mostly very good food, sadly the ribs ( both the BBQ and the honey), were very poor, cut into small chunks, no taste and full of gristle.

Ordered from here before and food was very good.This occasion was not the same experience at all. Very very greasy, it didn't taste fresh, Malaysian noodles were very bland, the chicken was chewy, certainly not worth the £40 we spent. Wont be back.

Not as good this week, food wasn’t very hot, ribs a bit fatty and seaweed a bit chewy

First and last time I order for delivery, never in over 20 years have I had a bad meal from taste of china and I know if I’d have collected it would have been perfect but waiting over an hour for delivery when I know it would have been ready affected the meal

Really wanted to love this but all three dishes were less than satisfactory. Stuffed aubergine was swimming in a 2mm layer of oil - almost inedible, I drained it with kitchen paper. Chicken balls tough and dry inside and over-fried so far too crunchy with a burnt flavour. The batter was thin and hard all through. Singapore noodles lacked detectable curry seasoning. It was a complete miss for me I’m afraid.

awful delivery. app was saying delivered at 19.30 and to enjoy. Food arrived 20.15. Ordered just after 6pm.

Have ordered from Taste of China many times and always had a nice meal however today’s takeaway was something else. Not sure if something has changed business wise but today was probably one of the best Chinese takeaways I’ve had. The prawn toasts were chunky and delicious, the seaweed was fresh and crispy and everything else hot and tasty!

The website says that you are open on Mondays sign outside and says" open, "but you were not so a friend had come to see me and I said we will go to the taste of China.

Since it changed hands its awful. The chow mein came burnt I asked them to bring another one and take the burt one back. 3/4 of an hour later they delivered a new one by which time the rest of the food was cold The second one was not burnt but it tasted burnt they must have used the same wok. Will never eat that rubbish again. This is my opinion I can't speak for other costomers. They need a new chefThey sometimes send the wrong order. Truly awful. Bad service. Not the taste of china it used to be. I've given it 1 star but even that is too much. Wes good a few years ago but that was as I said before excellent before New people took over.. Bad quality yuk. Very expensive and forget the courtesy of prawn crackers. Not happening. Rude staff.

We have been eating here for over 30 years and never disappointed. It’s by far the best Chinese restaurant locally. Always delicious food.

Not the best, not the worst. S&P chicken no taste at all, so bland same goes for the S&P chips. Regular chips tasted like they had been cooked yesterday. Beef very chewy in black bean but sauce tasted okay. Very hit and miss last few times we’ve ordered from here. Spent £65 and not even a free bag of prawn crackers. Overall didn’t hit the spot.

Very very nice. Ordered 16.50 arrived 17.25. Special Fried Rice, Chicken Chow mein and S&S Prawn balls. Food was hot and portions big, lots of sauce and the taste was of China, it was excellent and not greasy as some can be. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

first and last order...food arrived cold, you'd think on a 'busy' night it would at least be fresh but was like eating plastic. couldn't even get chips right...crispy chill beef was clumped in one piece, more like crispy chilli wood...crab claws were decent.

We have ordered before and it’s always hit and miss. This time marks the last time. The duck was dry and burnt as were the chicken balls, crispy chilli beef and sesame prawn toast. It’s quite obvious, the oil was in need of changing as I could taste the burnt oil taste. Very disappointed. Upset bellies the next day

Taste of China has been in Hoddesdon for many years. I finally visited. Menu is good and varied. Food tasty, hot and well presented. Extra little touches like fresh finger bowls of lemon water with each course really made it feel special. The music was Chinese music so it created an authentic ambience. Staff were polite, attentive and provided great service. We enjoyed it so much we're definitely going back.

The woman in the restaurant is so rude I was very uncomfortable. The man took my order and she spoke to him almost shouting. I couldn’t understand but could tell she was angry that he was serving me 1st before other customers just rude ! Food was ok rushed won’t be going back

Been there quite alot and normally nice tbh. Got a delivery and I will be throwing it away. Absolutely terrible and waist of money. Did try to tell them before review but they didn't seem interested or concerned in the slightest. Very disappointing will not use or recommend again

Called at estimated delivery time as we received ‘enjoy your food’ notice but no food had been delivered. Restaurant said it was a few minutes away with the driver. Waited 20mins and nothing had arrived. Called again and was told it was still on route. Waited a further 15 mins and called again to be told it had just left the restaurant with the driver. So the initial call the food hadn’t even been cooked! Food delivered a whole hour after eta. Food was cold and ruined.

It was New Year’s Eve so understandable going to be late

I have never had such a bland Chinese in all my time , especially the noodles was so dry and no taste I had to put my own soya sauce , the rice tasted old not fluffy but hard , the wongton soup the dumplings tasted so processed, had also the imperial starter, the ribs was hardly no meat90 percent bone and after all that spending over 30 pounds for one person , they didn’t even include a small bag of rice cracker , they wanted another 3 pounds , Never again !

We love taste of china however tonight we felt there was room for improvement. Unsure if the kitchen staff have changed or if it was due to ordering via just eat as we usually order and collect direct. Peas in the curry were undercooked, pork chow mein lacked flavor, the noodles were stuck together and the Thai curry didn’t seem to be seasoned. I am so disappointed with our dinner tonight. It’s not very often we get a take away, we view it is a treat as it is so expensive. Our dinner tonight was not good. The curries were too oily to even eat, the broccoli was massively overcooked, the beef was just disgusting. I don’t often complain and I very rarely do reviews but I was so disappointed with this, I haven’t even left my table and I am writing this. As I said 2 years ago their noodles were burnt. 2 weeks ago I went there with my family and we sent them back. We had nearly finished our meal by the time the sunburnt noodles came. Today I’ve ordered takeaway and made a point of asking for them not to sent burnt noodles but again they did. I will never eat their food again

Must say that the food here is some of the best Chinese I’ve eaten in UK. Very tasty and full of flavour. Would definitely recommend.

I'm allergic to mushrooms and they were present in my dish. Having previously phoned the restaurant they confirmed no mushrooms. Inedible for me sadly

Fantastic Chinese food. A bit on the expensive side, however you get what you pay for in quality and quantity of ingredients . Best Chinese for miles around ! Will go back again and again. Staff friendly and helpful.

Food was cold and Didnt taste fresh

Use the restaurant all the time to eat in and its fantastic. However tonights order was awful, delivery window kept getting later and food was STONE cold on arrival making it pretty much inedible.

The curry sauce was watery and some of the prawns over cooked. No sauce with spring rolls! Not restaurant quality and expensive for what it was.

Trying to find a new Chinese after our trusty favourite Ocean Palace closed, so gave this one a try. Food arrived early which was a nice surprise but needed to heat the food up as was cold and got chicken curry instead of beef, fortunately we like chicken but wasn’t what we ordered. Not sure we’d order from there anytime soon.

First time ordering from Tase of China. Food was hot, not greasy. I enjoyed it and will be ordering from here again.

Food was delicious but really disappointed in the prawn toasts were just 4 small pices ( always are 6) on a piece of baguette for 7£ ... Sorry but they should call if they run out of them ... Don't make a alternative in baguette... Plus one of the curry dishes was not closed properly and some sauce spilled out

Sadly the recipe was different for my chicken with cashew nuts and now includes mushrooms that I'm allergic to. I've ordered this a lot and it used to be perfect. Such a shame
