Taste of China in Basildon

We used to use this takeaway regularly as the food was superb. We haven’t been there for a while, ordered a twkeaway tonight, the food was probably the worst Chinese we’ve ever had. The ribs were small chunks of gristle, everything else tasted bland. What’s happened to this place. Will not be going back.

By far the best Chinese food in Billericay. We have been regulars for years now. Have recommended it to many friends who are now also converted to Taste of China after trying! Great variety - both meat and vegetarian options are delicious.

Ordered a large takeaway for my family. Everything was delicious and very hot. The portion sizes are very generous in comparison to other Chinese takeaways in the area. Although not traditionally chinese, you must try the salt and chilli chips. Delicious! 😋

Crap food, crap service, won’t admit to mistakes - avoid avoid avoid. Food turned up with sauces all spilt - ruined food in paper bags but when we told them we were accused of lying and told that we should have phones them and waited for more sauce to turn up - after already being half hour late

Had take aways from here lots. Highly recommended. Always comes quickly and is always still really hot. Tastes amazing too!

Always order from here never had a problem. Crispy shredded beef is a must and all in all great food

Came down with my partner to visit family . After a day out in London fancied a Chinese. We never been here before and was very glad we choose to use them. Food was Gorgeous. Large amounts was delivered and consumed. We felt it was so good we had to phone and tell them . Highly recommended. Many thanks for the wuick delivery and the friendly lad that came to the door

sorry I've been a restaurant manager for 18 years..last time we ordered from here they missed a dish fair enough it happens but when I called back I was told I didn't order the dish even tho the person on the phone read the order back I then had to pay delivery charge to get the other item I ordered to come.. not impressed. as was there fault. so cause we ordered from there regularly we gave it another chance which was a massive mistake the food smelt off the food I ordered was hotter than a vindaloo and the chicken had a bad smell I had 1 mouth full and threw it in the bin...the spare ribs were nice but for a big order was in my opinion awful. I never write post about restaurants cause I don't like complaints where i work but we will never go back.. and you can keep your food.. disgrace sorry

I usually use this take away but tonight I was very disappointed the chow mien was dry and smelt like it had sat in a shed for a month and my girlfriend had prawn legs in her prawn curry which caused her to be sick don’t think I’ll be returning for a while !

We have tried all the Chinese takeways in Billericay and thought we'd try this one - not the nearest to our house but they deliver so why not?We had chilli beef, lemon chicken, egg fried rice, sweet and sour chicken balls, crispy dumplings, beef and mushrooms for 4 and all of us were very pleased with the standard of the food. We were told an hour to wait for the delivery, but that was fine. I have actually not been inspired by Chinese food over the last few years, but now I feel excited to try more dishes from the menu, re-igniting my taste buds. We will definitely order from these guys next time.

We have been using this takeaway for a few months now, the food has more taste than the other Chinese we used to use in Western Road. Food served in plastic containers, was still hot when I got home.Singapore noodles and sweet and sour prawn balls were good, I phoned orders through and it was ready for collection in 20 minutes. There is a free delivery service on orders over £15 but I can’t comment on delivery times as I didn’t use it. Would recommend the food we had

sweet and sour chicken dry prob recooked same as chilli beef and chips burnt,seems have gone down hill

only started coming here about a year ago, and I would never go back. The spring rolls here are amazing and I love the chow mein. The family that own it are so friendly and kind too!

Hay nuevos propietarios? El orden habitual, uso para llegar a envases de plástico, ahora en cajas tarjeta más pequeña. Pollo Kung po glutenous renovación, arroz... no es bueno. Algas marinas frías. Chow mien tanto pollo y carne vacuna hecha. En resumen, un pobre esfuerzo. Además, siempre se utiliza para tirar en el pan de gambas gratis...este aparentemente se ha detenido. Los nuevos propietarios o quizás nuevo chef, lo que sea, la experiencia no vale la pena repetir. Así que supongo que tendré que probar un chino de la calle alta!

I did criticise this place a few months back saying I had always liked it but of late service and standard had decreased massively but from my experience's lately everything seems to be back on track. Food back to its tasty old self.

Estar con mi hijo en Billericay y se estaba haciendo tarde, no quería comer, así que fuimos por la otra opción, comida para llevar. Como esto no fue demasiado lejos de la casa parecía una apuesta justa. Llamó para pedir la comida y me dijeron 20 minutos, no está mal. Llegamos a recoger mi tarjeta de débito y ofrecieron, sólo me dijeron que no aceptan tarjetas, pero el cerca de Tesco Express tiene una máquina de efectivo. Así que al reintegros en cajeros sólo para encontrar que está fuera de orden. En la tienda de cash back, lo siento no devolución. ¡oh, bien volver a la comida para llevar a decir lo siento no tienen dinero. Entonces ella dice que puede llamar por teléfono al otro tienda de la cadena y que pueden hacer el pago a través del teléfono, así que eso es lo que hacemos. Después de toda esta faffing era ya casi una piedra fría. Nos casa y empezar a subir sólo para encontrar que es el más desagradable y llevar greasiest que he experimentado. Demasiado tarde, comer una piedra el resto.

If you like your Chinese takeaway, wrong and cold this is the place for you, as it took 2 and a half hours to get two thirds of what we ordered. We ordered 3 mains and 2 sides 1 of the mains did not turn up fair enough mistake. it then took another 2 hours along with 7 phone calls for them to turn up with 3pound refund and still no main course by this time the entire meal was dry,cold and inedible. DO NOT GO HERE GO TO KAMBLES WHAT WE HAVE TRIED AND TESTED!!

Ahora he probado unos pocos restaurantes chinos en la ciudad, y es una buena opción, hay un mayor ahora que por desgracia parece que perdió allí de camino, pero como yo diría que este es una buena opción si quieres probar un nuevo chino entrega. Me dijeron que 45 minutos, y la verdad es que estaba 65 minutos, pero la comida estaba caliente y sabroso, incluso si era más hambre por el tiempo en que llegamos. pollo y el maíz sopa, hhhmnnn!

horrible!!! Nuestra comida llegamos, dos horas después de haberlo pedido y tres llamadas más tarde llegó fría y aceite por todas partes! La bolsa nadar en aceite y todos los contenedores- el crujiente carne rallado era duro suave y sin carne a la vista! llevar el peor que he tenido!

La comida era casi dos horas cuando llegó con retraso, y te aseguro que la mayoría de los platos son grises. Una gran comida familiar y fue muy decepcionante.

When we first moved to billericay this was one of the best takeaways in the area. But then I think they sacked the chef because it went very downhill.for example if you order Singapore style fried rice which contains pork,chicken, ham, prawn lettuce,coriander,spring onion,egg and peas when it arrives all you get its two bits of meat and none of the aforementioned ingredients.absolutetly none. No egg no spring onions no coriander no peas no ham no lettuce. I need to speak with trading standards as you will not get what you ordered. Terrible. This happened on the last five or six orders and they will be the last

This used the be the best Chinese ever, however in recent months the service and quality of the food has gone down hill considerably. Our most recent experience has caused us to vow never to use this take away again. After waiting approximately 40 minutes in store for a relatively small order and receiving our food after people that came in after us we finally got our food. When we returned home we noticed that 2 items were missing and quickly called to ask for them to be delivered (we live 2 minutes drive). We were told that it couldn't be sent out to us and that we should come and collect it or they'd give us a credit note! My mum who spoke to them told them not to worry as it was too much hassle. As the items had been paid for I went back to the store to get them. However I was told when I went back that they had missed them off the order so I had to pay for them, we received no apology and were instead faced with a very bad attitude. We wouldn't have minded if a bit more customer service had been received however we were instead treated as though they couldn't care less. Really disappointed as this was the best Chinese in Billericay.

Agree with previous review. This place was the best in Billericay but it's gone down hill fast. Two items didn't arrive with our order and it took them nearly an hour to bother delivering them. What we did get was oily and lacking flavour. Such a shame. Not sure if ownership has changed or if they are cutting costs. Will be voting with my feet and trying other places.

We have used this takeaway for 10 years and having tried all the other Chinese takeaways in the area had settled on this being the best. Food was always good and delivery and pick up were both punctual but in the last year the standards have not been quite the same,don't know why?and the delivery and phone order pick up has been inconsistent and at times chaotic. last couple of times I've ordered by phone to pick up and have been told it would be 20 mins and when I get there ive had to wait another 20 mins for my food.Whatever has changed im keeping my fingers crossed they correct it as I will be trying some others in the area to avoid the frustration ive been experiencing for my weekly takeaway treat until they get back to their old selves.
