Taste of Chennai in Glasgow City

Con la intención de almorzar en un restaurante en el que habíamos estado antes solo para encontrar que estaba cerrado fuimos a tomar unas copas al pasar nos dimos cuenta de que este restaurante estaba abierto y pronto regresó y entró y se muestra a una mesa pedimos una cerveza pinta y una copa de vino también pedimos poppadoms y cebollas especiadas, pakora de verduras, pollo tikka masala, pollo korma, huevo arroz frito, y pan naan todo estaba delicioso y recién cocinado no dudaría en volver pronto.

Con trabajo para una cena buffet abajo. Realmente impresionado en general, un poco más de Methi en la sartén de mantequilla tal vez, gran dosa, el personal era excelente.

Reservamos para ir y tener un curry rápido. La bienvenida que tuvimos del personal fue muy agradable. Optamos por un principal, 2 entrantes, arroz y naan x El personal era muy atento. Pedimos y no podrían haber sido más agradables. Al registrarse cuando vieron que las bebidas se estaban acabando. Estaba completamente lleno y todavía tenían tiempo para 2 llenos en celebraciones de cumpleaños x Ahora a los negocios... La comida No doy elogios fácilmente, pero WOW! Todo era TAN fresco y se podía saborear cada sabor. No hay absolutamente nada que culpar sobre este lugar x Siva y el personal, tienes una fórmula ganadora totalmente clavado! ¡Una joya oculta en la ciudad! X

Absolutamente maravilloso - hermosamente cocinado con especias muy frescas y el mejor pan de ajo que hemos probado en mucho tiempo (y comemos un montón de curry en múltiples lugares!).

La comida era buena, sabía auténtico habría dado 4 + para la comida. Sin embargo, el servicio fue un fracaso. La comida llegó rápidamente, pero no se proporcionaron platos y cubiertos. El restaurante estaba inicialmente lleno, pero incluso con 2 - 3 mesas llenas no había interés por un mejor servicio. La camarera incluso después de preguntar repetidamente no proporcionó ningún cubierto o agua caliente. todos los niños hambrientos esperaron pacientemente a que llegaran sus platos y cucharas, pero después de 15 minutos caminaron hacia los padres pidiendo lo mismo en ese momento la camarera dijo que no caminaran ya que llevan cosas calientes. Esto es válido preguntar sin embargo mantener su casa justo antes de corregir a otra persona. Viajar desde Edimburgo para probar su comida en Año Nuevo fue una decepción total!

Un grupo de 15 de nosotros de la oficina tuvimos el placer de cenar en Taste of Chennai en Glasgow. Fue una delicia absoluta. La comida era simplemente excepcional. Cada plato, desde las dosas crujientes hasta los sabrosos currys. Nos gustó especialmente el pollo briyani y pollo chettinad. Fue un verdadero sabor del sur de la India, transportándonos a las vibrantes calles de Chennai. Si eres fan de la cocina del sur de la India, recomiendo encarecidamente Taste of Chennai. Es una joya escondida en Glasgow

Lo intentamos aquí cuando íbamos a un espectáculo de teatro cerca. El restaurante en sí es un poco escaso y podría hacer con algo de mejor decoración, además de que era un poco en el lado frío. El personal era muy amable. La comida era muy buena, fresca, sabrosa y caliente, con un tamaño de porción decente, así que no hay quejas allí. La única desventaja era los baños (masculino de todos modos) . Me alegra no haber entrado antes de comer. Estaba sucio, como si no hubiera sido limpiado en unos días. Eran las 6 pm de un miércoles y no estaba ocupado, así que realmente no hay excusa. Encontré que bastante fuera - poniendo y probablemente no volvería debido a eso, que es una pena ya que la comida era tan buena. Precio decente también!

Si usted arw en busca de auténtico sabor del sur de la India, este es un excelente lugar razonablemente. Vine como turista a Glassgow y estaba deseando una sabrosa comida india. Y encontraron este lugar. Personal amable y cálido. Tenía mysore masala dosa y arroz cuajado. Muy sabroso y sabroso. Buen trabajo chicos. Mantente bendecido

I booked this restaurant online for a group of 6 friends for a pre theatre dinner before heading to see a show at the Kings. Online I found the restaurant listed as Kama Sutra Indian Restaurant and my booking was accepted and I received a confirmation email. On arrival we noticed the name was now Chennai but my group was shown to our table and given menus. These did not include any pre theatre menu and when I asked about it and showed the waitress my booking she said they were now called Chennai and they didn’t do any pre theatre offers. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told there was no management in house at that time and more or less it was a case of “like it or lump it” We chose to lump it and left the restaurant and found a fabulous one further along called Glassy where the food was superb, the staff welcoming and a fantastic 3 course pre theatre dinner for £13.95. Chennai - get your act together and either stop taking bookings for a restaurant that you say doesn’t exist anymore but actually has the same phone number as yours. Or fix your online site so that customers know what to expect before they arrive.

We had paid money,so we need right quantity of food. Please provide that because nowadays your food quantity is very low so you need to increased....😒😒😒😒

Ordered Idli and Dosa from the restaurant. Both the dishes and Sambhar had so much soda in it . Although the taste of was good , They do not consider health index of the food. Something to improve on.

Very good Southern Indian food! Not always easy to find in Scotland. Especially enjoyed the Lamb Vindaloo. Not overly HOT. Excellent and friendly service!

Just excellent and special thanks to Siva and his team for such brilliant, friendly professional service. Myself and three very close friends visited because on the previous evening two of us had had such a superb meal. Service and food was absolutely top notch and great credit is given to the chef and others behind the scenes who play such an important part in the success of Taste of Chennai. We really could not recommend this restaurant more highly. It really was very good. By comparison, one of the best Indian meals I have ever had was on Ras Island in Abu Dhabi, and Taste of Chennai was on the same level. Well done and thanks

Really a true chennai ( Tamil Nadu ) style, Good restaurant, liked the masala dosa. A tru preparation of chennai style and excellent staff.

Went on recommendation, one curry good, my curry tasted sour, colour orange/red, strangest Madras ever experienced, white wine was at room temperature. Restaurant seemed to be staffed by inexperienced staff or lacking in guidance.

Partner and I dropped into Taste Of Chennai, Glasgow, last night for dinner. On entering, there was no staff about, so we waited to be welcomed and seated. There are Indian Restaurants GALORE in Glasgow, and our visit here did not feel like we were in one. The restaurant was just a big square room with Neon lighting at bar, mega bright lighting, with tables and chairs, and not a single painting/item on any of the walls. There were still Xmas Santas on the pillars as you enter. Staff were 'all over the place' and service was not great at all. We didn't touch the glasses of water which were poured for us out of a jug when we sat down. Item of cutlery was missing from our table, so I'd to take it from table next to us. The table was soooo small ... not enough room at all even for starters/plates/drinks, and this felt uncomfortable. We ordered starters and when finished, asked for mains and extras to come all together. We finished the extras, and were still waiting a while for one main, by which time, mines had gone bit cold as did the bowl of rice. We complained, but STILL other main took time to appear. Whilst food was 'okay', I would not be tempted to return at all and would visit one of the many amazing other Indian Restaurants in Glasgow, in West End, or in Merchant City. We were not asked 'was everything okay?', service/attention from staff was 'skittish' and sitting dining there felt boring, bland and unwelcoming. Not worth the just about £70 spent for what we got. We just wanted to get meal eaten and quickly leave. We did and wouldn't return.

The restaurant is large and spacious but has no atmosphere feels more like a school hall. The music was terrible, lightning was very bright. No decor or pictures on the wall still got santa faces on the pillars ....and the tables were very small and cramped, two main dishes with rice and nans and you were really stuck fir room.. The welcome was very quick and showed us to our table No5 with a glass on look warm water.. Then the service was so slow that I grew a beard, waiting for someone to take our order..total lack of staff and nobody organising anything.. The poppadoms were very tasty and fresh, but the pickle tray was very small and not enough for two. Also, no spoons came with the dish, so luckily, the other table was free and borrowed one from there.. Lamb chops (3) portion £9.99 was tasty but nothing on them to eat, the coconut rice was fantastic, and the peshawari nan, although small, very good.. also, the chicken tikka korma was very good (apparently)...but once again the service was very slow and as they don't write anything down the forget one main course and there was only two of us.. In my view, I won't be returning or recommending the restaurant as overall I didn't enjoy the experience....

Majority of the food was authentic Indian. The dosas and fish curries are really good. The fish and prawn starters are really good.

Stumbled across this restaurant and it’s amazing. Great amount of super tasty and clearly marked vegan options, very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend.

Friday night in Sauchiehall Street and we come across Taste of Chennai. Must have been fate but we have discovered best Indian food for some time. The welcome and frienlessness set the tone for the night for our first time dining experience at Chennai. Staff very attentive and took time to find out our usual orders with Indian restaurant food to test how adventurous we were. Tonight was not a night for change although we went for fish starter as sharing taste and delicious. Chef got 5 star rating with chicken curry dishes Madras and Kurmah with rice and nan. Food has got the approval for return visits and exploring the very exciting menu. Wine and Draft Kingfisher to accompany meal.👍 Excellent value with emphasis on food taste and service of a young and smiling staff led by a very professional host made the evening complete. Deserves an excellent review and happy to let others know about this place. The restaurant very mixed with age and groups. Decor and atmosphere 👌 We went on to enjoy the rest of our evening in City Centre but we were still talking about the restaurant later on so *****

I’ve have been to this restaurant several times now and each time the food gets better, I had the Chicken Jalfrezi today and it was delicious, I would highly recommend this place for food!

Excellent South Indian restaurant. I had the rassam which was fiery with pepper heat and delicious, and the paneer masala dosa. The dosa was crispy, the sambar yummy and chutneys all had a distinctive flavour. Had a really lovely chai afterwards. I'm in Glasgow often and would definitely come here again. One of the nicest dosas I've had (and I've had a lot of dosa). I was on my own and made to feel really comfortable by super friendly staff.

Food and ambience was excellent. Sambar was really good. Gave us a taste of chennai. Monisha was absolutely great in attending to us. Had a lovely smile on her face. Would highly recommend the food.

What are the chances that one finds a restaurant which ticks all boxes ? Has great food, excellent service and ambience to match it and offers real value for money in terms of portion size. Taste of Chennai is exactly that kind. We chanced upon it and glad we did. Tried South Indian and North Indian dishes. They were all delicious. Chutney and Sambar were both authentically South Indian with a real taste of spices. It was amazing to see a restaurant carrying a south Indian name offering such variety and tasty north indian dishes. Siva (owner) and the staff were super friendly and attended to guests really well. All in all, a gem of a restaurant in Glasgow !!! Visited it on 3 consecutive evenings during my stay in Glasgow…

Another enjoyable lunch with my friend. Food was excellent and the service from the lovely two girls was perfect. So friendly and attentive. Rava Dosa with Chutneys and Sambar. Pongal with Coconut chutney and Sambar Indo Chinese noodles. All delicious. My all time South Indian favourite place in Glasgow.

This restaurants provides average quality food , but that’s still ok but there food dispatch on the table … it’s like ages after you order . Sometimes they even forget the orders , that’s actually amazing . And if you are not ordering a lot...

We went here for a late lunch today and left disappointed. Of the 4 of us, one felt their meal was nice and the rest of us felt it was below average in comparison to other indians in Glasgow. Starters were good but main courses...

A calm and inviting place, with very welcoming staff and EXCELLENT food. It has put a big smile on my face. A wonderful experience in Glasgow and I surely will come back.

Taste of Chennai located in city centre ,Friday evening restaurant was really busy, atmosphere is good ,Friendly staffs ,Food was delicious,must try DOSA and chettinad chicken.we got starters n main course on time .definitely we go back again.

First visit with family, won’t be our last. Food was very tasty and everyone enjoyed it. Friendly service. Was very busy when we went in, still food was served at good pace. Lamb & Dosa is a must try!

Excellent South Indian cuisine in modern setting. Particularly enjoyed the masala dosa. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed pre-theatre meal and will certainly be back.
