Taste of Bengal in Bradford

Cant wair to visit on Saturday. Have not been for a while . LOVEthis place .so welcoming to all.

We used to go here regularly when living in Thackley it was our favourite place for a curry. We decided to drive from Skipton for a good curry. Excellent service and food, it was lovely to see Abdul again, we will be visiting again.

First tried takeaway a couple of weeks ago all food spot on , ordering again tonight mouth is watering at the thought yummy 🤤

Been using Taste of Bengal for a lot of years. - I don’t visit as often these days due to a restrictive diet, however, last night we visited. Had a chicken Karahi, my wife a lamb masala and 6 chapattis. The food was excellent, perfect consistency, plenty of meat and generous portions. Chapattis were fresh and authentic. Abdul was - as always, pleasant and welcoming. Taste of Bengal is a jewel in Idle’s crown and deserves to be busier. It is small, but to me that makes a sine in visit even more special. If you fancy a good authentic curry, you really need to pay them a visit.

Lovely food, the tastiest I had in Bradford must say. The service was lacking enthusiasm but I think it was just one of those days. Since the restaurant is very small there is very little privacy. However I must say again that food was delicious.

we got a delivery curry was absolutely disgusting it was taste less like it had been frozen awful full of water, the kebabs same taste less and burnt to a crisp totally black and hard, onion bargys tasted like they wer cooked in dirty oil, £26 later just an apology nothing else woukd not recommend at all, we have dined at this establishment for alot of years this service today was an absolute let down also made me sick even half of our money would of been appreciated!!!

Worst place ever the meat smells £37 down the drain . Couple of days after this I seen them in the news for bad inspection 1 star they got of the inspection 🤢🤮.

The staff were lovely and the setting is wonderful (very old fashioned and reminds me fondly of eating out in the 90's). The restaurant isn't huge and there are around 6 tables in total, but if anything that makes it more appealing. Certainly favouring the personal touch over filling seats. Service was nice and quick, with the food piping hot and portion sizes fair. The curry was nice and rice was fluffy. Nothing was exceptional but nothing was pour either. I would certainly go again without hesitation, just for the ambience and staff more than anything. Parking wasn't too bad at all, although with it being on the main road I can imagine you may have to park in the centre of the village and walk up on occasion.

Not as authentic as they make out. I'm local to it, was informed by the restaurant to ask for something authentic. Actually they're not.

Service was slow and poor. Had to ask several times for extra pickle tray as there were 6 of us, only to keep getting told clear the first tray and we can bring more ??? Starter was cold, when asked to replace it they just microwaved it (salad aswell) and brought it back. After seeing a lot of the starters were microved we complained only to be told it was to save time. Shocking. And the last 2 times food had been superb. Won't be going back

Went to see Abdul Sunday evening and had a great meal my husband and l have enjoyed the food at this restaurant since the 90s and it has always been spot on so pleased it has survived the pandemic.

Can't wait to get back to "in-house" dining. Great food and Abdul is the perfect host.

great place to eat for a small business who makes a big effort to give fantastic food and service to all who grace their presence .clean and hygienic too .they also do a take out service if you need it.

There is a photo and video of a family who ordered a take away from here cost them £25 and during what’s going on £25 is a lot of money to anyone right now ,, they ordered a take away at 6pm and I came at 8.35pm when it arrived it was full of oil couldn’t be eaten , they rang up the manager asked for refund he said no and only to be told to return the food and he can re cook it again .. this is absolutely no way to do business it’s disgusting how they can treat customers.. she was so upset the family was left out of pocket and no dinner .. Anyone who is willing to older from this takeaway Please think again

We had a lovely evening with fabulous food and lovely welcoming staff. It was a quiet evening with not many other diners but that didn’t spoil the lovely atmosphere.

This tiny restaurant was surprisingly quiet a week before Christmas. A couple left just as our party arrived, and there were only two other solitary diners during our visit. Surprising as the food was good. I had fish pakora which were light and tasty, followed by a Sylyethi Special. This unusual curry was a mixture of large and small prawns with vegetables in a light sauce - a good option if trying to avoid a heavy curry. The mushroom pilau rice which accompanied it was superb. I was part of a group of 7 & we were all happy with our food. The prices are very reasonable indeed. Most of the main courses are only £7 or £8. Drink is also cheap. The owner was the waiter, friendly and polite. A good local curry house.

Very good food, excellent value for money. Wine and beer at reasonable prices too! The owner Abdul is very friendly and helpful in explaining the menu. We always take our friends from overseas who are visiting us, to show them our great local curry house! He does take away as well!

We travelled from london and hoped to enjoy a night out for late dinner, AND went in the restaurant at 9pm and it was freezing inside and ordered food right away. I asked for a starter and got a burned popadom with no sauce. We waited and waited and food came at 10pm. The food was not tasty, no flavour no salt and only one curry was ok and the parata was so thick and hard, the coke tasted like water with no fizz and blunt. The service was so rude and rubbish, and another customer was an elderly who was there before use and got served after us which did not make sense, and she was very patient and still the owner did not give a dam about her and was more concerned about the Telephone order. This place has no staff, the cheff had to bring us the food while the owner goes out to give delivery. So unprofessional. This wasted by evening out. Had planed to watch a movie but that went out the window because of this lack of service.

Fantastic curry - wonderful dhal soup, king prawn special curry, sag aloo - and extremely good value. Everyone in the group really enjoyed it.

Am from Manchester and curries are good from there, moved to Bradford and I couldn't get a nice curry anywhere until I found this place, this place is amazing in taste and quality , I have been here over three years now and I ordered a dam a lot of curries from taste of bengals and every curry is lovely, i address to whom is reading this, don't phone around, just ring this place just try it and taste what you have been missing

Just been here. Chicken bhuna swimming in sauce and very little chicken and no flavour. When mentioned to waiter he was not botherd. My chicken saag lacked spinach but tasted ok ish when i heavily sesoned it. Keema rice lacked keema. Chapattis went hard while cooling which suggests not fresh. 2nd to worst curry ive had.

The food here is so good! knocks the socks off any other place locally and we've tried them all! really tasty curry and the mushroom pakoras are the best we've ever had, so pleased we found you! 😀

Great food and friendly service. An intimate feeling eating area,no frills but good taste which I found refreshing.

I didn't really want an curry but as there isn't much else around in the area I took the plunge. I notice there were are few other diners in the restaurant and as it's a Thursday night I took it as a good sign. I wasn't disappointed the food was just spicy enough and the portions were ample, I couldn't fit it all in which was a shame as it tasted so good. If I'm ever staying in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I’ve just moved into the area and decided to give this place a try. Im glad i did! Ifs my new favourite. The starters were fresh and delicious and the mains were some of the best me and my wife have tasted. You must try it

This is a lovely little family run restaurant. Service was friendly and excellent. We shared a mixed tandoori starter which was tasty and just enough. My husband had a spicy chicken dish from the special menu with egg rice which he really enjoyed. I had the king prawn jalfrezi which had plenty of nice big prawns in it. I had chapatis with mine which were a bit like cardboard unfortunately. I thought it was a little pricey for what we had. We were the only customers in the restaurant so it lacked a little ambience on our visit. The takeaway custom was busy however.

What an absolute gem this place is. Lovely service from our host, with a fantastic range of dishes available - all made to order. Pricing across the board is great value for money. If you're not sure what to have, just ask, and they'll be able to cater by recommending the most appropriate to your request. For any local business that has been running for 30 years, you know they've got something right and this place really has. Highly recommended, enjoy with friends

We visited here over Easter, it had been a while. Despite my BiL having lived in Scotland the last few years, the owner, Abdul, still remembered him as if his last visit was only last week. And here is the thing, the welcome is so warm it's like coming home, it is small and cosy so this adds to the intimacy. The service is so personal you forget there's anyone else there! And the food is just as youd like it. Onion bhajis almost as big as tennis balls?!! Happy days! Quality service, value for money, great food it is indeed a hidden gem of Idle.

Very average place for a curry. Starters are better than mains however food is piping hot and very clean inside.

Was really looking forward to my takeaway but it was awful. Prawns were obviously frozen but defrosted too quickly so they were hard and chewy. The sauce tasted of disinfectant, very unpleasant. The popadoms were good.

One of the best curry houses around leeds . We visit weekly and it is very rare that we ever visit anywhere time and time again and receive such a good service. Food is 5☆☆☆☆☆ and staff friendly. For a little establishment it's excellent. If you visit Leeds its well worth a visit if you enjoy Indian food. Menu selection is good and you can tell that everything is fresh. James

Went to this hidden gem last night, Ive been a regular for a couple of years, got to tell you the food is fabulous and needed to give this place a review I've been to many fancy restaurants and I can tell you this is the most reasonable priced restaurant in Bradford and the food is first class cooked with frest ingredients and the finest blend of spices. Abdul the owner is welcoming and always looks after us he's always happy to advise us and we have had some great food never once disappointed in all the times I've eaten here .....give this hidden gem a try it won't disappoint.

Only ever been for takeaway but we keep coming back, the owner is very welcoming, there is an extensive menu, including drinks. Open 7 days a week from 6-midnight. The popular curry dishes korma, bhuna, massala etc are all reasonably priced at around £6-£7 per person. Would recommend this place for sure

We popped in on the bank holiday Monday for a bite to eat. Kids are not big curry eaters yet so they do have some alternatives for kids, my older son opted for chicken tikka pieces with chips which was a very good portion and my younger child had nuggets and chips, still a very big portion. For main courses we both had Balti's (chicken tikka and lamb tiki) with rice and a garlic nan. Both curries were very tasty and flavoursome not too spicy. Starter I had was a little disappointing as the tiki pieces were a little dry but the onion bhajis were nice. It has a bar and caters for the branded Indian lagers. I would go again..

What a great find!!! We are a curry critique club, who came upon this little Jem in Idle village, Easily overlooked as it has an old fashioned shop front, with from the outside looks so unassuming. However! cross the threshold and you will encounter the charm of perfect host and his team. Together they gave us a warm welcome and a splendid evening. The food, SUPERB!!!!! During our four years of curry.club we have never had better quality of service or food and being Yorkshire men/women great value for money. (Who could ask for more) Oliver Twist

Llamado para un rápido pollo masala. También pedimos 2 shami kebabs, pero cuando llegué a casa nos dimos cuenta de que habían dado cebolla bahjis. Cebolla bahjis estaban secos y horrible. El curry no era mucho mejor y estaba cubierto de cilantro y que era prácticamente todo lo que puedas probar al cilantro. Un no recomendaría este lugar incluso si se han establecido 30 años o así, más la comida para llevar local para ser honesto y además te dan gratis para llevar, en chapattis cobran 40 p cada uno. En general buen propietario simpático, pero no vamos de nuevo.

I've been a regular visitor here for years. The food is always excellent and what gives it the edge is the warm, friendly atmosphere brought about by the cosy but comfortable table arrangement. The jaflong, haandi and garlic chilli balti are my personal favourites. Give it s try

We used to eat here on a regular basis ever since it opened and have always had a good meal, the samosas are the best we have had. The food is always presented nicely and the service is really friendly.We have moved out of the area and had a chance tonight to go to Abdul's for a curry again, it was excellent. They have a varied menu and an extensive drinks list and it was nice to see Abdul again.

I've been a visitor to Abdul's curry emporium for MANY years, especially after a few beers and live bands at the Brewery Tap pup in Idle. Always fantastic food, friendly staff and if you're a trout fisherman take them an UN gutted trout, they will Tandoori it and it's FANTASTIC I even eat the skin. The boys always look after us and the food is excellent.

Haven't been here since I was 18! booked a table for a Friday evening. Food was every bit as yummy as I remember and nice to see the owner hasn't changed - he still looks as young! Very attentive without being obtrusive. Food hot and excellent taste, bill very reasonable. Will definitely be back.

This has been my parents regular restaurant for years and my wife and I tag along whenever we are back in the area. As other reviewers have already said this is a consistently very good, authentic night out. The meals are all made to order by experienced chefs in the tiny kitchen and if you ask it is possible to watch them preparing your meal. The staff are very friendly and with regular customers and the intimate nature of the restaurant we have often seen conversations break out with the whole dining room getting involved. Prices are competitive with similar restaurants in the area. Also be sure to try the 'Bangla' easily a match for Kingfisher or Cobra.

Time and time again, always excellent, very friendly atmosphere, wide and varied menu, authentic Bengal food, want some thing off the menu, no problem they are always happy to make your visit special. I keep going back even two decades later! Give them a try you won't be disappointed.
