Taste of Bengal in Bournemouth

Ordered via uber eats previously in July, estimated 45 minutes delivery. Over 1.5 hours later the food arrived cold. Accepted that these things happen as everyone has off nights. Ordered again this evening, waited one hour and 5 minutes just for our order to be cancelled as there 'aren't enough drivers'. If you want to actually recieve your food, and at the very least a decent temperature - avoid this restaurant at all costs. Plenty of other reliable Indian restaurants in the area.

Se negaron ya que la comida estaba cocinada incluso cuando expliqué que todavía suben en Devizes dijo que no era su problema y colgó. Ahora tengo que encontrar algo más para la noche y tener gente hambrienta en mi casa esperando. ¡Maldita actitud y cero empatía!

Pedí una comida para llevar, vivo en Devizes... su sitio web y ubicación sigue activa desde Devizes. Cuando me di cuenta el restaurante ya no está en Devizes pero Bournemouth y yo llamamos para cancelar. Se negaron y dijeron que no era su problema ya que la comida se cocina incluso cuando expliqué que todavía vienen en Devizes dijo que no era su problema y colgó. Horrendo servicio y poco dispuesto a entender.

Tardamos una edad en llegar, pero nos aguantamos con nuestro amor por el curry, Bengala no decepcionó.

Food was absolutely horrendous! Was inedible, curry’s had no flavour at all. The naan bread smelt like fish so we couldn’t eat it, onion barjis were soggy and had no flavour. Rung up to explain and they hung up when asked for refund. Shocking

The "Vegan" Biriani consists of Biriani Rice & Tarka Dall, and not (as normal) a Vegetable Curry. The quality of the Biriani Rice is good, but the quality of the Tarka Dall is quite poor, with a very thin consistancy that included sliced potato, which is not a usual ingredient of Tarka Dall. It tasted OK. Unfortunately, not knowing that Tarka Dall was the main dish, and having ordered 2 Tarka Dall sides, we ended up having 5 Tarka Dalls with 3 Biriani Rice! Also be aware that "Popadoms" is 1.

I ordered Chicken Tikka Jalfrezee, onion rice, Prawn Puree, cucumber/youghart. Delivery was spot on time, food was piping hot and very tasty... Really enjoyed my Indian supper.... Would definately order from them again. Thank you :)

Very bad experience with this restaurant we ordered our dinner and then we called for some cutlery and they said we are not providing and we said okay no problem. Then suddenly they cancelled my order around 11 o'clock at night and we are finding dinner everywhere n we went for holiday so we don't have kitchen and they took money also n not given food without cancellations.. we order from uber eats and restaurant said that we cancelled order👍

Rung the restaurant to say it said on our just eat app food was delivered and we try iught check was in right address they said no it hasn’t and we were lying in the fact it didn’t say enjoy our food. I have screen shot at the time we called

Curry ...madras...was tasteless swimming in hot water ..was more like brown soup.Will never use this takeaway again. Not recommended.

Not the best one we have had from the restaurant. Butter chicken was a korma and only a few small pieces of chicken in the ‘butter korma’ and masala.

This place gets 1 star for leaving me Hank Marvin last night. Perhaps the delivery driver knew I am meant to be on a diet and he enjoyed my korma himself? But, taking the money anyways and claiming to have delivered it; my ring bells dispute that and they are not a deceitful entity.

Didn't really mind that it was 20 mins late but the food itself was just awful. Did take photos but no option to add them to my review. Swimming in grease, like an inch on top! My butter chicken was chicken korma and it had completely curdled/ split. The Bombay potato portion was unbelievably small and tasteless. The chicken tikka masala was edible but easily the worst I've had. The rice and bread were fine though and it was all hot. Wouldn't order again to be honest. Considering I hadn't eaten all day and was starving, you would think it would have seemed nicer than it actually was. Worst Indian takeaway I've ever had I would say :(

The food was delivered over a half an hour late, which is never a good thing. However, everything was delicious, still fairly hot and everything was there. Thank you for the free Bombay Aloo, as well. We will definitely give you another go and hope for a better delivery time. 👍🏻

Wouldn’t order from this Indian again. Very disappointing, the madras was very watery and lacked flavour. Onion bhajee flat, overcooked and oily, peshwari naan soggy, Bombay potatoes flavourless Rice was ok but for just over £25 inc delivery. Shame i was really looking forward to it.

My new favourite. Mild option was not spicy at all, onion salad was fresh, they also threw in some potatoes which was a lovely surprise! I also have a nut allergy, and they were super accommodating to it as their kitchen is entirely nut free Thank you guys ☺️

Ordered ‘Papadoms’ (note plural, not singular) and charged £1. When delivery arrived only one was in the bag. Assuming a mistake we called, only to be shouted at by a man and lectured on the rising costs and that the menu clearly said it was 1 papadom for £1 (it did not). Never experienced this at any other Indian - it has always been multiple for sharing. The rest was mainly fine (not the bahjis) but won’t be going back due to the crazy price PER PAPADOM and how rude the man was on the phone.

Always the best food, hot and great flavour. Ordered from here loads and never disappoints. Always get free potatoes and onion salad as well. Love u guys, best Indian food round here :)

Food wasn’t great this time. Always order from here usually and always give 5 star reviews but the last 2 orders have been a bit tasteless and the meat has been tough.

Order was wrong,when spoke on phone it was just take it off the price. Food was cold. And order was late. Normally quite easy with things like this but poor response on the phone and awful food isn't good.

Ordered food still waiting over an hour, called and keep getting palmed off. Called another 3 times tried to get owners name, people work there and don't know who they work for. All I got was Khan. Food just arrived an hour and a half later, apparently delivery driver had accident. What a Croc phoned restaurant 3 times and no one said that, just said thet were busy. Sent fake taxi driver round flashing badge saying don't leave bad review. What would a taxi driver care about bad review.

The restaurant added extra time to our wait, but it was another 30 minutes later than that. It was a very windy night, and we are a few miles away, but we waited in total 1 hour 40 mins from ordering. The main food was delicious and they have a really good variety of dishes on top of all the usual Indian takeaway classics. The bhajia were dry and hard, dripping with grease and not very tasty, the poppadoms weren't crispy, and they had put all the heavy curry sauces on top of the sides, which were in foil containers, so one of the them leaked all over everything and it was only contained by the plastic carrier bag everything was in. Also, the peshwari naan was just a sweetened plain naan, it wasn't really what I'd call a peshwari naan. I would order curry dishes again if I lived very close, probably to collect myself, and no side dishes or accompaniments as these were not up to the same standard as the main dishes.

Pretty disappointing, ingredients not very fresh I felt, meat also not very fresh, almost minced. Herbs and spices used for the sauce tasted and looked quite cheap. I won't be returning, much better Indians around.

Biriyani was okay but Special fried rice was very poor because too much oil and danger things was Rice come with yolk of egg i mean Sukla...

25 minutes late, curry ok but quite bland

Never order from them via uber, especially when the first open!! Our x3 chicken tikka masala's sauce was just red water and the chicken was burnt and chewy!. Then the Onion barji, that I love from any Indian restaurant normally was rock hard, you could tell was probably re-cooked from yesterday, (such a shame) Then came the Lamb biryani which normally for me is the star of the show!!. But God no!!. I had one mouthful and the spice/heat was so intense even the devil himself would have weaped!!!. Which I've never experienced before, nor would i wish on anyone... so I called the restaurant to say what on mothers Earth is going on here? Explained all I'd encountered and you'd never guess what they said!!. Let me tell you in short term... We are sorry you don't like the food and we've only had 2 other complaints on the same things this week, which isn't enough of us to look into it! I was like what!. (IN MY HEAD) so you've had 3 complaints now about the food quality this week and your not going do anything? To which I got told. " well if you order from use again we will give you a free Masala and rice. I was like oh well thanks for that. So untill then I guess we just don't eat or just eat this and literally sh#t through an eye of a needle? In which case will never want me to come back anyways? They basically said yeah.... So my advice would be don't bother with this place, just cause they are a little cheaper.. Remember you get what you pay for!! especially through uber eats!! And taste of bengal know nothing will happen. (Some would have experienced uber eats and their customers service too 🤦‍♀️) Yea so basically avoid ha .. Rant over .......

2hrs 20mins from ordering - food arrived cold. Samosa no filling. Bhaji stodgy & bland. Generally poor. Phoned to complain - my wife told to ‘F*** off’ by the chef.

Generally the food was good quality, but turned up very late. On the just eat app it asked us if we wanted a free portion of Bombay potatoes, which we did, but I have noticed I’ve been charged for this at the end even though the message on the app said it would be deducted at the end. I also was charged a delivery fee which was meant to be free for deliveries over £25 which mine was.

Got shouted at down the phone when we asked for an update on our order. Food was ok but nothing special.

Honestly the food was lovely, was a little delayed but I can forgive that because each dish looked and tasted different. Did have a bit of ghee on the surface, but easily remedied with a bit of kitchen towel. Had a good amount of spice in the jalfrazi and the taste of bengal special. Only 2 bhaji’s / samosas in a portion. The only negative was the fact that the Nan bread didn’t make it in the delivery ;-(

Dhansak was great, lamb was melt in the mouth and delicate. I just wished I'd ordered hot rather than medium but that's my fault. Thanks guys 🙏

Ordered from here today, the food was excellent and very flavourful. I ordered a variety of curries and a selection of starters. The starters were amazing and very good value for money. The Chicken Tikka and Sheen Kebab were very flavoursome and juicy. I ordered a variety of lamb and chicken curries. I ordered a Lamb Dopiaza, Lamb Rogan Josh, and a Chicken Madras. The curries were delivered to me hot and the flavour was amazing. I could taste the spices and the rich sauces. The portions were really good and the curries were packed with meat. I would personally recommend a Lamb Tikka Jalfrezi to you. This is honestly the best Indian takeaway in Bournemouth. I’ve ordered here in the past, and the customer service has always been excellent. The Naan’s were also fresh and tasted very rich. They were very big. Overall, I would highly recommend Taste of Bengal to you, they offer you delicious tasting food, at a very good value.
